Cole Cassidy is gay and Cole Cassidy is not gay.

Likewise when I was introduced to this character from Cat Cosplay. Here are my crappy doodles.

Then when the shitstorm at Blizzard happened two years ago with lady coworkers were pissed being treated like objects, left OverWatch fans with a sour note with everyone, which needed the name change.

I like collecting Cole Cassidy stuff and hoping to be a proud owner of a poncho. I have collected mostly Cassidy stuff. Today I discuss why both are possibilities with this character so far.

Cole is gay.

-In the comic, New Blood, he had encounter Baptiste and aids him to join OverWatch. Most fangirls might say, this is proof Cole prefers the company of men.

-The reason he could be considered gay is because they want to get rid of his previous name and not letting himself being related to said employee that was being a predator onto women. 

-There is way too much CassidyXHanzoXGenji fan art of this to not be a coincidence.

-Flirting with Lifeweaver over bounties on their head? Yeah, that happened. 

-He’s a big brother towards two canonical lesbians (Tracer and Pharah). Come on Blizzard, let us fangirls squeal for a BGA (Big Gay Ally.)

Cole is not gay.

-Short animated movie Reunion had Cassidy up against his mentor, Ashe. They have a love/hate bond. I’m hoping the Dreadlock Rebels book shows more to this relationship.

-Reading fics by @nori-writes makes me think he’s a proper Southern gentleman. Flirtatious and respectful. Loves common hospitality and respects women.

I don’t know much, this is over observations. I want to play as Cole but my aiming sucks. I am tempted to get his BlackWatch skin. I want to try playing him in AI matches. Plus I has the Van Helsing skin.

I just realized that I almost didn't post photos from my genderbend McCree here! I did this cosplay to use on a Overwatch cosplay group with Rach as Ashe.

Jesse McCree (Riverboat skin) from Overwatch : pinto_bean_cosplay

I have been a huge Overwatch fan since the games release, and with all the characters to choose from there were two in particular that caught my eye. Jesse McCree and Genji Shimada. I think the initial moment at when I chose McCree was when I saw his Riverboat skin, it had that classic western sharpshooter vibe. I loved it.

Now as a cosplayer I usually stick to foam armor builds so i knew it would be much more difficult for me to tackle Riverboat McCree. Naturally i started fabric hunting immediately to get a great look for his vest. It was the first time I’ve ever sewn a costume piece with full lining. For the other bits of his costume I constructed the arm, hat, belt, buckle, and gun all out of EVA foam. The hat was tricky as I had no pattern to base it off of. Noticing that Evil Ted had just crafted his Vampire D hat, I followed the video and paused it at the part where his pattern is visible and roughed out a pattern for myself. The arm was custom patterned as well as the belt, and buckle.

For Peacekeeper, his revolver, I printed out a scale version of his standard skin one. From there I referenced the game to slowly add the detail of his Riverboat skin version. After that I broke the paper version into sections and started piecing it together with craft foam. I utilized my minimal skills of 3D design to make and print out the chamber and spinner of the gun, as they were very intricate and detailed. Once the costume was complete I got to practicing his voice lines and emotes and some gun spinning for show. The convention response was great! There was the occasional “Hey McCree, What time is it?!” followed by me either giving them a solid “High Noon” or if i was feeling playful “A decent low noon”

The fan focus of my McCree cosplay would have to be Peacekeeper and his robot arm. I had crafted the arm in a way that the playing card could be removed if so desired which made for a good show-and-tell bit. I think my most memorable encounter would have to be recently at Anime Expo where i had the pleasure to finally meet BlackWatchCosplay (IG) and LoneSpeedsterCosplay (IG). They did an amazing job with their Blackwatch Reaper and McCree and let me tag along to photoshoots. Such kind people.
