Meeting With Mamburao TODA And SSS Representative

Mayor Lyn Tria had an urgent meeting with Mamburao tricycle operators regarding the mandatory 6 months SSS dues which the latter intends to collect upon renewal of their franchise for year 2019. This prompted Mayor Tria to call the presence of SSS representative (in blue shirt) who happens to be at the Municipal One-Stop-Shop for business permit renewal at the lobby of the Municipal Hall.

Tricycle operators expressed concern on the amount to be collected by SSS being heavy on their part and for being not informed ahead of time. SSS representative however explained that such order was only given to them by the regional office to implement, and that most of the operators failed to settle their monthly dues. Thus, such collection is meant to cover the arrears incurred the previous year.

To help the tricycle operators, Mayor Tria personally called via phone the SSS Regional Director and appealed for the possibility of lessening the operators' obligation at the start of the year. Luckily, it was granted. They reached an agreement for 6 months to be divided for certain number of payments, at least for now.

In the end, operators acknowledged their shortcomings and promised to settle their SSS monthly dues on time (self employed) in order to enjoy SSS benefits in years to come. They also thanked Mayor Tria and Mr. Girao (MPDC) for listening and for finding ways to resolve the issue in their behalf.
