Idk shit about Oppenheimer and there’s apparently some back and forth between people who think Oppenheimer is some flavor of propaganda/erasure and people who think they’re being unnecessarily obtuse or missing the point, and like idk one of the sides is using this as an opportunity to point out all the damage that the US still brushes over in relation to the atomic bomb and the the lead up to it and the other is convinced that biopics are actually based in reality and have any merit lmao
#I just think it’s funny those are the two ends of the spectrum#I saw someone try to explain the story criticisms were stupid because it’s based on real life#And real people don’t do what stories need them to#And like yeah sure but… it’s still a movie… most of what you saw was probably about 20% based in reality#Most people in bios aren’t even like how they’re described#Sometimes you have to literally choose a person and attribute other important events to them#So you don’t have to introduce tons of people to the audience#Or there’s no natural way to reveal stuff#Biopics always have some morally questionable shit going on and I just wish we could treat history like history#And entertainment like entertainment#Maybe that’s naive but biopics seem to always be more damaging than informative
