After they’ve waved the sheriff and Billie off, with many cuddles, kisses and promises to get breakfast together at the diner first thing in the morning, Stiles lets his head fall back against Derek’s shoulder. Sure, they manage to steal a moment here and there, and Derek has moved back into his old bed again, now sharing it with Stiles - and often Billie, but they haven’t been properly alone since their first kiss a little over a month ago. Stiles will start school again soon and Derek wants to take him on a date before summer break’s over.

Dinner at Gino’s is great. The food’s excellent and the company even better. When they get back home that night the house is quietly waiting for them. Derek picks Stiles up as soon as they set foot inside and carries him up the stairs to their room. In their bed, Stiles is warm and pliant, quiet except for little sighs and soft pants, until Derek is sheathed deep inside him, their limbs entangled. “I love you,” Stiles tells him, his breath hitching in sync with their movements. “I love you so much.”

Derek kisses him deeply, holding him close. “I love you. Always.” It feels good to put words to the feeling that made a home inside him a long time ago, that only got stronger and stronger as the days went by. Even now, his heart feels too big for his chest. Luckily Stiles seems to feel the same way, his hands tracing Derek’s skin reverently as he holds him.

They wake up early despite their late night. And even though Derek would love to lay in bed with Stiles a while longer, revelling in the feeling of warm, naked skin beneath his fingertips, he easily follows him into the shower. There’s a little girl waiting for them.

It’s too painful for her to keep in touch all the time, she wants to keep the contact to the bare minimum. It’s hard on Stiles, though he agreed to it pretty quickly, with some help from Derek and his father. When Billie is older she’ll be able to get to know her mom, if they’re both ready for it. Besides, Billie has her daddy and Papa Wolf. She has her pack.
