I have the utmost respect for my university's lawyer, she's officially become one of my personal heroes. She's been a huge help with this eviction, especially when it comes to all the dirty tricks that landlords and rental companies use to drain every single cent from unsuspecting people. Now I know what to look out for and how to avoid it, and she even gave me a letter template to send to the debt collectors to legally and politely tell them where to shove their lawsuit.
