Happy Reformation Day!

This is the Martyrs' Memorial in Oxford. A stone monument positioned at the intersection of St Giles', Magdalen Street and Beaumont Street. It commemorates the 16th-century Oxford Martyrs. The monument was built 300 years after the events of the English Reformation and commemorates Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley, who were burned nearby on October 16, 1555 after having been convicted for heresy because of their Protestant faith. It also commemorates the former Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, who was similarly executed (after having watched his colleagues' painful deaths while imprisoned in a nearby tower) on March 21, 1556. - Dustin Benge

ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ/ਪਟਿਆਲਾ (17 ਜੂਨ, 2012): ਬੀਤੀ 20 ਮਈ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭਵਨ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਰੀ-ਪੀਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਜੂਨ 1984 ਵਿਚ ਵਾਪਰੇ ਸਾਕਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਜਿਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਫੌਜਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਹਿਰੀ ਫੌਜੀ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਸਿੱਖ ਰੈਫਰੈਂਸ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਦੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਉਸਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਬੀਤੀ 6 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
