You know what’s kinda funny to me, how people say they hate or dislike country music because it’s only about a guy losing a girlfriend or wife and drinking his sorrows away.

But if you listen to some of the older songs it’s more than that. They tell stories about soldiers who didn’t make it, missing an opportunity, a baby being born and how they changed the parents’ lives, mental health, abuse, death, the way your view on love changes as you age, disabilities, battles, how the good book can help you find a higher power, ghosts.

The people who are saying that they don’t like country music are probably only listening to the newer artists, not taking the time to go back and see the older generation and hear the stories they have to tell.

This post has the aim of collecting all those stories which have one or more of the following characteristics:

It is a modern story set in the past of our characters (mainly 1930s);

do they not know other artists existed before, during, and after taylor’s less than humble beginnings that did more for the industry and pop culture than taylor has in her whole life? taylor did nothing to change country music or the country music industry. do they think teen girls weren’t listening to Reba, Miranda, Martina, Shania, etc? or ANY country artists before taylor? she didn’t do anything to change country music, THEY did. they paved the way for every female country artist to come after them, taking shots like The Chicks, and then artists like Kacey Musgraves and Maren Morris have continued to carry that flag while making country music more open to the queer community. nothing taylor did in country music could’ve done that bc she was too busy pandering to bigots with big wallets. now she’s in pop, she’s doing what every other pop artist is doing. there’s nothing original to it.

the only people taylor’s fashion has influenced is swifties. no one who isn’t a swiftie is shopping her looks and they never have.

her re-recording wasn’t even her idea. I’m pretty sure it was Kelly Clarkson, another pioneering female artist who did things that changed the industry more than her, who suggested it to her. and THEN taylor did it. remastering music is not new and hasn’t been for a long time. that’s all she’s doing. her being public about it doesn’t do shit for anyone else. just like her bullshit Spotify deal. because “what she was worried about happening” is in fact happening, but it’s not happening to taylor because she only negotiated for herself.
