A Christmas Carol in the Duckverse - My version

Since I already did the Mickey Christmas version, why not do it, related to the Duckverse, since it's related. And I did, sort of in my own way, although there are mistakes I made. Sorry.

Yes, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Mickey's Christmas Carol and the 180th anniversary of the publication of the novel A Christmas Carol by the English writer Charles Dickens, Scrooge McDuck was drawn as Ebenezer Scrooge who faces various difficulties and his sins. And this version in my headcanon is even more sinister than Mickey's version, because Scrooge despises even his own family. Yes, I combined from that novel linking to Duck comics (specifically A Christmas Quackarol (1982) written by Guido Martina and drawn by José Colomer Fonts) and Ducktales in 1987. Donald Duck in Mickey's version was Scrooge's nephew, while in my version the same, only he plays the role of Bob Cratchit. And Donald along with Daisy and his children (Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck as well as Daisy's nieces April, May and June Duck and Donald and Daisy's son Donald Junior as Tiny Tim) beg Ebenezer Scrooge for money to cover their expenses and survive winter. But Scrooge rejects them and will face the Christmas Ghosts afterwards. Gladstone Gander plays the role of Fred, Ebenezer's nephew (yes in the Carl Barks comics, Gladstone is Scrooge's nephew as he is supposedly the son of Matilda) and Scrooge's sister Matilda plays the role of Fan, Ebenezer's sister, with her alive and unhappy with how Scrooge works and who she left him. Scrooge's other sister Hortense is, like Fan in A Christmas Carol, sadly dead. Goldie and Brigitta play the roles of Isabella, Scrooge's former love. John D. Rockerduck plays the role of Jacob Marley, Webby Vanderquack plays the role of the Christmas Ghost of the Past (she was a fairy in the 1987 Ducktales episode Scroogerello), Gus Goose plays the role of the Christmas Ghost of the Present and Flintheart Glomgold plays the role of the Christmas Ghost of the Future. I don't need to say why. Yes, I drew them wearing 19th century clothes, like in the book, during Queen Victoria's time.

Yes, somehow I managed to gather all the characters in one drawing, and in the end Scrooge will have to redeem himself because of the big mistakes he made. Only he can decide whether he will get better or not.

LA COSTITUZIONALISTA LOIODICE: "CI AVVIAMO A UNA TRANSIZIONE COSTITUZIONALE"

Professoressa Isabella Loiodice, la sua esperienza di professore di diritto pubblico comparato presso l'Università Aldo Moro di Bari la porta a sostenere che siamo in una fase di transizione costituzionale. Perché?

Perché, sotto un profilo giuridico-costituzionale, noi italiani stiamo perdendo le nostre radici che affondano in uno stato di diritto democratico e sociale, in un costituzionalismo i cui due pilastri sono la tutela dei diritti fondamentali della persona e il principio di separazione dei tre poteri: esecutivo legislativo e giurisdizionale.

Quando siamo entrati in questa crisi?

Durante la pandemia, che ha fatto emergere in maniera violenta qualcosa che forse si stava preparando già prima: abbiamo vissuto un potere esecutivo che spesso e pure volentieri è andato al di fuori e al di sopra della politica, svincolandosi da quel potere legislativo che è anche parlamentare e ha, quindi, funzioni di controllo dello stesso esecutivo. Un modello che stiamo rivivendo in altre situazioni, dalla guerra russo-ucraina al cambiamento climatico. I titolari del potere politico, che sono i nostri rappresentanti, si sono fatti mettere fuori gioco e sono stati sostituiti da comitati tecnico-scientifici, a loro volta nominati dal potere esecutivo.

Match Point, la Rabbia di Flavia Catena vince l'edizione 2024 del concorso

Di Annalisa Valente E' Flavia Catena con il racconto Rabbia che vince l'edizione di quest'anno di Match Point, il concorso letterario organizzato da Il Circolo e Londra Scrive. Secondi e terzi, Alessia Piermarini con la Muscia Dentro e Max Mauro con Il Dito. Match Point, la Rabbia di Flavia Catena vince l'edizione 2024 del concorso E' Rabbia di Flavia Catena che vince l'edizione 2024 di Match Point, il concorso letterario riservato a racconti inediti scritti in italiano da residenti in Regno Unito. La musica dentro di Alessia Piermarini e Il dito di Max Mauro vincono rispettivamente il secondo e terzo premio. Come di consueto è stato l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Londra ad ospitare giovedì 17 Ottobre, all’interno della Settimana della lingua italiana nel mondo, la serata di premiazione del concorso organizzato da Il Circolo - Italian Cultural Association, charity italiana in UK in collaborazione con Londra Scrive, scuola di scrittura creativa fondata dallo scrittore Marco Mancassola col patrocinio del Consolato Generale d'Italia a Londra e nell’ambito delle attività di promozione integrata del Sistema Italia del Ministero degli Affari Esteri. Il Premio, giunto quest’anno alla sua terza edizione, è stato sponsorizzato dallo studio commercialista Del Vigna Dobson. Il tema della challenge 2024 è stato “FUTURO O NO?” e ha rappresentato l’occasione per parlarne in tutte le possibili declinazioni: visioni del futuro dell’umanità, tecnologie che avanzano o nuove società, storie contemporanee basate sulle nostre vite e sulle scelte, i progetti, i sogni, le relazioni, le speranze che possono influenzarle. E di racconti, incentrati sul topic, ne sono arrivati quasi un’ottantina. Tra questi, la giuria composta da Olga Campofreda, Luisella Mazza, Isabella d’Amico, Daniele Derossi, Marco Mancassola, Paolo Nelli, Caterina Soffici e Giovanna Salvia ha fatto un lavoro di cernita accurata e anche un po' combattuta, per arrivare a una scrematura di dodici finalisti. Importante sottolineare che la giuria ha giudicato i racconti, contrassegnati da un numero progressivo, senza sapere nulla degli autori. Perché l’intento fosse proprio quello di garantire completa trasparenza e obiettività nella scelta. La serata di premiazione di giovedì 17 Ottobre, aperta con i saluti del Console d’Italia a Londra Alessandro Mignini e della presidente de Il Circolo Simona Spreafico, è stata poi condotta da Etta Carnelli De Benedetti, direttrice de Il Circolo. Presente anche la moglie del Vice Capo Missione, Signora Marina Smimmo De Antonellis. I finalisti sono stati tutti invitati alla serata, e fino al momento della premiazione, è stato mantenuto dagli organizzatori il massimo riserbo sulle posizioni in classifica. Ecco, allora i risultati risultati e le menzioni speciali della giuria. - Premio - RABBIA di Flavia Catena - Premio – LA MUSICA DENTRO di Alessia Piermarini - Premio – IL DITO di Max Mauro Il primo racconto classificato, premiato dalla signora Marina Smimmo De Antonellis, si è aggiudicato un trofeo e un premio di 1.000 sterline. Motivazione del premio: “Per la capacità di esplorare il tema dell’incertezza del futuro con una forte, avvincente allegoria; il taglio originale nell’affrontare il genere distopico; la creazione di un’atmosfera intensa e inconfondibile; l’equilibrio di un racconto in bilico tra narrazione esplicita e mistero”. Il secondo racconto, premiato dal Console Mignini, e il terzo, premiato dallo sponsor Del Vigna Dobson, hanno ricevuto un trofeo e un premio in denaro di 500 sterline. Ma ci sono state anche tre menzioni speciali per i testi di Martina De Camillis "La storia del mio cuore”, di Marco Medugno “Quattro lezioni” e di Simone D’Aquino (“Tuffati picciri’!’’). Ma quest’anno Match Point ha riservato anche una novità rispetto alle edizioni passate: il premio Mondo Nuovo, istituito per sottolineare il crescente successo ottenuto dal nuovo bookclub de Il Circolo, appunto Mondo Nuovo, diretto da Olga Campofreda, e che attualmente vede il coordinamento di Luisella Mazza fino al prossimo mese di Gennaio. I dodici racconti finalisti sono stati sottoposti ad una giuria composta da grandi lettori del bookclub ai quali è stato chiesto di votare il vincitore. A maggioranza dei voti il Premio Mondo Nuovo è andato a "L’ultima conversazione" di Anna Sergi (premiata da Luisella Mazza) e a lei è andato un buono d’acquisto per libri del valore di 100 sterline. Ma ci sembra doveroso citare anche i nomi degli altri finalisti che hanno partecipato alla serata insieme ai colleghi decretati poi vincitori: Irene Morlino, Luciano Parisi, Marco Chiola, Martina Bozza, Paolo Barucca. Nel corso della serata l’attore Alex Marchi ha letto dei brani tratti dai tre racconti premiati, che vincono inoltre la possibilità di un percorso di editing professionistico e, nelle prossime settimane, la pubblicazione sulla rivista letteraria Cattedrale – Osservatorio sul racconto, partner del concorso. E, mentre si spengono i riflettori su Match Point edizione 2024, si inizia già a pensare alla prossima edizione del concorso, nel 2025, con un topic, se possibile, ancora più affascinante: “BUON VIAGGIO”.
