Stylised Grass

One of the things I had the most fun working on during this project is the stylised grass. I had actually begun creating these back when I first discovered Viktoriia Zavhorodnia's tutorial, but I chose to document it now instead, since back then I had not decided how I was gonna use the grass yet. Th first thing to do was to model the grass blades in Maya and make them two-sided. These are simple planes bent with a modifier and normals perpendicular to the ground axis and that can be seen from both sides. After creating some variations and duplicating them, I exported the bunch as an fbx file. The second step was to create a tilable noise map in Photohop, which was done using filters and special warping tools. This would be used for the wind shading later on inside of Unreal.

In UE5, to match the grass blades' material to the landscape colour where they spawn, I had to make virtual textures that took into account colour and height detection. These were called in the grass and landscape materials that I later set up.

The two photos above represent how I set up my materials for the landscape and grass, and the way I used the Runtime Virtual Textures (RVTs) to blend the grass with the landscape.

Seeing how the landscape was set up later on, I realised that I didn't actually need to fill the entre environment with the grass that I created. The landscape already came with procedurally generated grass that was more optimised than mine. SO what I decided to do instead is alter my grass material a bit and use them to add some colour variation to the existing grass by adding my grass foliage in very subtly. To do that, I did some extra research and ended up stumbling upon Marpy's Stylised Grass Tutorial. I mixed some of the methods that he proposed with ones I had already made before to achieve a style that I liked. This new grass material contained a position gradient for better blending with the landscape, colour variation through a nose texture map, wind animation using an UE wind node, and a wind line shader which displays a panning wind colour on the top of the grass.

Seleksi Tilawati Qur'an Kabupaten Pesisir Barat Diikuti 282 Peserta

PESISIR BARAT - Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Pesisir Barat mengadakan Seleksi Tilawatil Qur’an (STQ) ke-III tingkat Kabupaten Pesisir Barat tahun 2023 selama 3 hari, yang dimulai sejak tanggal 6 sampai dengan 8 Maret 2023. Kegiatan tersebut dipusatkan di Gedung Serbaguna Guna (GSG) Selalaw Labuhan Jukung, dengan mengusung tema “STQ Upaya Melestarikan Khazanah Budaya Islam di Bumi Para Sai Batin dan Ulama dalam Membangun Generasi Qur’anni yang Bermartabat Menuju Kabupaten Pesisir Barat yang Berkualitas”. Kegiatan tersebut dibuka oleh Wakil Bupati Pesisir Barat, A. Zulqoini Syarif, dengan diikuti oleh 282 peserta (142 putra, 140 putri) yang berasal dari 11 Kecamatan se-Kabupaten Pesisir Barat, Senin (06/03/2023) Hadir pada kegiatan tersebut, Camat se-Kabupaten Pesisir Barat; Ketua LPTQ (Lembaga Pengembangan Tilawatil Qur’an) Kecamatan se-Kabupaten Pesisir Barat; Perwakilan OPD (Organisasi Perangkat Daerah) di lingkungan Pemkab Pesisir Barat; Forkopimda (Forum Komunikasi Pimpinan Daerah) Kab. Pesisir Barat; Ketua DPRD Kab. Pesisir Barat; Segenap panita pelaksana; Para peserta STQ; dan para tamu undangan. Dalam Laporan Ketua LPTQ Kabupaten Pesisir Barat, Jalaludin, yang diwakili oleh Ketua 1 LPTQ Audi Marpi, menyampaikan bahwa, diadakannya kegiatan STQ oleh Pemkab Pesisir Barat dimaksudkan untuk menumbuh kembangkan pemahaman dan pengamalan isi yang terkandung dalam Al-Qur’an dan sebagai ajang seleksi di tingkat Kabupaten yang nantinya akan diikutsertakan pada seleksi tingkat Provinsi dengan 6 cabang (Tilawah, Tahfizh, Tafsir, Khotmil Qur’an, MIQ (Monitoring Ibadah dan Al-Qur’an), Musabaqah Hafiz) yang akan dilaksanakan seleksi. “Kami (Pemkab Pesisir Barat) mengadakan kegiatan STQ dengan harapan agar dapat menumbuh kembangkan pemahaman dan pengamalan isi yang terkandung dalam Al-Qur’an, serta untuk mendapatkan bibit-bibit terbaik putra-putri Pesisir Barat yang nantinya akan kami ikut sertakan dalam lomba di tingkat Provinsi, InsyaAllah bisa sampai Nasional dan juara”, ujar Audi Marpi. Sementara itu, Wakil Bupati Pesisir Barat A.Zulqoini Syarif, mewakili pemkab Pesisir Barat mengucapkan terimakasih dan penghargaan setinggi-tingginya kepada segenap panitia dan hadirin yang telah menyempatkan waktunya untuk hadir pada acara hari ini.
