My dad retired in 2020 and one of his New Years resolutions this year was to ‘try video games’. I set him up on my switch with Super Mario Odyssey and ever since he learned how to turn it on by himself it’s been a waking nightmare. He’s on it constantly. From 10am- 5pm, 6pm-11pm, 1am-3am. He’s also deaf as a post so he’s got it blaring across the house. No one can use the tv room anymore. I’m contemplating taking the switch downstairs with me at 9. Like…grounding my dad. No video games from 9-9 mister.

#it was cute at first but hee become obsessed with getting every moon #he has more than me #it’s been interesting to watch a complete newbie try video games #Mario often frustrates me because it gives ‘hints’ that are essentially the answer at a drop of the hat #turns out I just am an avid gamer and understand the language and design and it’s not that intuitive actually #he wanted to start with RDR2 and I made him put the breaks in that #one the controls are way more difficult and two he’s like a Twitter millennial in that any fictionalized violence at all deserves jail time #anyway though it’s gotten really annoying as he can’t self regulate and it takes up communal space and I can’t sleep
