No one's gonna ask you unless You're either so happy or so depressed And I'm scheming, stacking truth as mistakes Keep redoing the dance until all the lights are off

I left my sanity to my life's passion The kind of energy that works like fuel Until it reaches the bar—and I'm done again

Trying to look in the mirror, asking, "Marilyn, who's there?" I can never die in vain But in my place, my stake, and my vices, I'll die in myself

I bury my regrets in those not-working pills I'm the owner of these men I loved But why can't I own my own heart?

Life is too short to learn how to be smart I never meant to be an athlete I keep swallowing my own beauty From the end of one year to the fall of another

I forgot to chain myself—never did I wield All I did, consciously The power is in my system But the love never exists there

I go to the past But I'm too scared to touch the ground In my feet, I can feel it I'm just never ready to be this broken

If only I knew the portal, I would go in—not to construct a universe But to reflect just once in my life
