If you’re a fan of watching historical dramas, you’ve probably heard about the hit TV series Maria Clara at Ibarra, which successfully ended just recently! This TV series revolves around the story of a Gen Z nursing student transported inside the books where he met Maria Clara and Crisostomo Ibarra. The hit TV series Maria Clara at Ibarra caught the audience's attention with its superb locations—and one spot used to shoot a scene for the serye is included in this list of Nueva Ecija tourist attractions!

I forgot to post this wrap-up here, but here we go.

#MariaClaraAtIbarra. It's been a long time since I got so invested in a local drama. This one's definitely worth watching and here's why you should watch it, too. For starters, Maria Clara at Ibarra is about working student Maria Clara "Klay" Infantes who tries her best to make ends meet. When she gets caught plagiarizing her report, her teacher Mr. Torres sends her to the world of Noli Me Tangere to live and learn the lessons of the past through Jose Rizal's work and characters. The story. Not everyone appreciates Noli and El Fili but MCI makes it a lot easier to understand despite the old Filipino language. It's an effective way to humanize characters, struggles, and the overall conflict Filipinos faced. The twist. MCI's modern day twist makes Noli all the more interesting and refreshing. As an anime fan, the concept isn't new, but using the isekai or other-world treatment on a local setting was downright brilliant. Mad props to the writers! The actors. They all prepared well for this and as the episodes progress, they become more comfortable with the old Filipino-Spanish mix. At first it was cringe, I have to admit, but it grows on you and the story is so much bigger. Barbie Forteza. What a revelation as an actor because she truly shines as Klay. Full of emotions, commitment, and right comedic timings. She really balances out the seriousness without compromising on the show's message. The production. The best thing about MCI is the production, from set design and locations to the editing and cinematography. Now that's a series that's making smart decisions on handling their budget because it's so well executed. It also helps in taking the series seriously. No over the top CGIs or obvious makeshift sets. The message. Apart from Noli's lessons, MCI is also about empowerment. It remind us how much times have changed since then. The pockets of real-talk conversations and outbursts - Klay does them so flawlessly, whether it's talking to herself or cheekily correcting notions. And those hot takes and modern day interjections are why I really love this. Bravo, Barbie! A 8/10 for me.
