a/n: this is just another level –for me, at least– of things I wouldn't normally write. please take my phone away? thanks. I think I was possessed when I came up with this. anyways! hope you enjoy.
this was inspired by If You Like Piña Coladas by @gutsby ! it was amazingly written, I loved it and after reading it I came up with this idea. <3
as always, please enjoy and lmk what you think! reblogs, likes and comments are always deeply appreciated 🫶🏻
It all started when you were out on patrol, scavenging and rummaging through abandoned places, looking for supplies to take back to Jackson.
"Anything, really." Maria told you, as the warmer weather was approaching and you needed anything that would help keep people cool. Especially the elders, kids and babies.
Could a horse carry a whole fan back to Jackson? Not possibly. So Joel got to disassemble it while you took the opportunity to look through every drawer, cabinet and box.
"Joel, look!" You said, holding up some molds. They were the kind that you would fill up with juice and fruit, then put the sticks in them to make a popsicle. Maybe it wouldn't keep you cool, but it was a nice distraction.
Joel chuckled as he saw them. He remembered making those with Sarah every summer in a desperate attempt to keep his daughter in a somehow manageable mood, as she hated the heat and made her irritable. You could see the shimmer in his eyes, the kind that showed up every time he thought of his daughter. He has recently started to open up about her, and you didn't really push him to do it: just let him.
"We should keep those." He replied. "Maybe try making some back at home."
The idea sounded fantastic, and there were more molds as you kept scavenging. Maybe you could even make them and offer them at the town hall for people to feast on while they fought the intense rays of sun.
Once back home, you got to work. Joel helped by squeezing the oranges as well as cutting up strawberries and apples, the kitchen ending up a fruity mess. But you didn't mind, if anything, it made your heart flutter at the sight. It was domestic, tender, to be cooking together. Making a snack to make the summer heat a little more bearable for the both of you.
You set them inside the fridge and honestly, forgot about them until two days later until Joel brought them up. The two of you were plopped on the couch, fanning yourself with magazines as you tried to pay attention to the TV with that old DVD player plugged into it, playing a movie Joel had made you watch more times that you could count on.
You were distracted, and you knew it. And he would be a liar if he said he wasn't. Your cause of distraction? The way Joel's cheeks were slightly flushed, sweat trickling down his tanned neck, how the popsicle would drip down his veiny hands. How he would lick it, God, why couldn't he lick you instead? And he was suffering from the same twisted thoughts. The way your lips would wrap around the popsicle.. he was almost sure you were doing it on purpose. Pushing it inside your mouth and pulling it out with a plop! He could think of the times you'd done that with his cock before, the image being burned inside his eyelids.
He couldn't do it anymore. Couldn't pretend he wasn't affected by you.
"It take you that long to finish that thing?" He spoke up, his voice slightly hoarse from hiding his desire for too. damn. long.
"What do you mean?"
You asked as you bit into it and chewed a smile piece of the ice thing, then swallowed it. His eyes followed the movement of your throat and oh, you knew.
He wanted to erase that shit-eating grin off your face with the tip of his cock, smearing his precum all over your—
"You know what I mean. You're doing it on purpose."
"And you aren't?" You leaned forward, and that made him feel like he'd been caught red-handed. Truth was that, yes, he had been slurping at the thing like he would swallow your juices whenever he found himself on his favorite place on earth: between your legs.
"What if I am?"
"What if I am too?"
The silence between you grew thick, like a string that was taunt with too much tension. Until he snapped it, grabbing the popsicle and shoving it into your mouth. You tried to protest by whining his name.
"Shut up." He spoke as he quickly worked to take off your shorts. He pushed them down and immediately placed his head between your legs, making you open your mouth so much that the popsicle almost fell. He caught it and put it back into your mouth.
"Keep suckin' it, sweetheart. Don't stop 'til I tell ya so."
And you obliged, a small smile on your face as you loved experimenting new things with your man. He licked a long stripe over your damp underwear, making you close your legs around his head. He was quick to separate them and nuzzle his nose against the cotton of it, inhaling your scent. You would be embarrassed if he hadn't done it like a hundred times before. It was nothing new.
"Joel.." You whined, almost pleaded as you gripped his hair. You kept eating the popsicle, licking and slurping at it to provoke him even more. And did he notice.
He looked up at you, eyes dark from his pupils occupying almost his whole irises. He took a finger and pushed at your entrance, penetrating you with your underwear.
"You take what I give you." He reminded you. Your mouth felt open at the sudden contact, aching to be filled. Some of the juice spilled down your chin and onto your chest, and he looked at it like it was the most attractive, sexy thing he'd ever seen. He pumped his fingers a couple of times before his patience broke.
"Damn it, darlin'. I swear I'm tryin' to take my time but today just won't be the case." He spoke, before pushing down his own clothes and your underwear flew God knows where.
He sat you on his lap, pressing you down against the evidence of the effect you had on him. Gently, never being rough, pushed your legs open with his knees and held you like that.
"Oh, look at 'er.. Already cryin' for me, baby?"
He teased, and brought two of his fingers at your slick. You squirmed on his lap, breathing ragged as you tried to find something to hold onto. But he didn't let you.
Instead, with those two fingers, he parted your lips open and looked down at your glistening cunt. It was gaping, closing around air as if it was already preparing itself for the stretch that Joel's length would be.
But.. he didn't do it. Not yet. He pulled the popsicle out of your mouth and pressed it against your hole. Your eyes widened and you gasped for air at the cold sensation, telling him that he couldn't do that, that it was wrong, that—
"Beggin' to be filled, isn't she?" He murmured, hot breath against your ear. He didn't really care about you trying to be cautious, he knew that deep down you didn't care about that either. You wanted to be filled, and he was a man that took your wishes seriously. He placed the popsicle in front of you so you could see it before he slowly trusted it inside of you. You cried out and he hushed you softly.
"Oh, I know, I know." He cooed at you. "She'll get used to it. Now take it."
And you trembled, fighting the internal battle of pulling his hand away or letting him fuck you senseless with a popsicle. The sticky, orange, freezing cold stick was melting inside of you. And every time Joel pulled it out and pushed it back down, some would drip out of your hole. Juices mixed with whatever blend of fruit you poured into those molds, all dripping down to the floor.
You could sense Joel's eyes locked on it, his breath becoming more labored than he would like to admit. He would beg to clean up that mess with his own tongue if it meant tasting your tangy, slightly sour slick.
"Takin' it so good, princess. Look at you. 's it feel good?" He asked, whispering against your ear. You couldn't see him but you knew that he looked pussy drunk, that grin on his face that told you he was high just from watching you take a popsicle or whatever he pushed inside of you.
You were a mess. Hair sticking to your forehead as the old ceiling fan wasn't strong enough to cool down any of you. Your own back felt sticky and hot against Joel's chest. But did he mind? No. He loved every liquid that would come out of you, even your sweat. He had eaten you out after being hours on patrol, sweat pooling in every fold of your body. But he just couldn't wait until you showered. That summed up how little Joel cared about any of that stuff.
Your head fell back against his shoulder and you shut your eyes closed as he stretched you further with the popsicle, the sounds were almost enough to make you want to hide your face in the crook of his neck out of embarrassment. They were almost pornographic, and you felt Joel's cock twitching underneath your ass.
"Joel—Please!" You cried out. "I want it. Please. I can—"
The popsicle was shoved into your mouth, pushing down on your tongue and making you gag softly as he went a little too deep. You could taste yourself in it, and it turned you on even more. Joel was tired of your cries, he would give you what he wanted when he wanted it.
"Hold it." He commanded and you held the popsicle, drool dripping out of it and into your chest, making an orange mess.
With his hands now free, he pushed your hips forward and up, lining the red, unattended tip of his dick against your entrance. You squirmed and cried, voice muffled by the long, cold stick.
"Shh, sh, sh. I got you, sweetheart."
I whispered and pulled you down against it with one swift move, having little to no mercy with your aching hole. He pushed on your lower back and you leaned forward as he started moving his hips deliberately, kissing your cervix every time he went up. He moaned at the sight of orange juice still pouring out of you, coating his cock along with your slick.
"What a sight, baby. I bet.."
He took the popsicle out of your mouth, and you panted for air. Your moans and soft cries filled the room as he filled you, stuffed you full to leave you limping for a week.
"..It'll look prettier like this." You almost didn't hear him, the pleasure overtaking you.. *almost*. But he made sure you did, at least, feel him when he pushed the popsicle into your rosebud, making the small hole stretch around it. He whimpered at the sight, something he never did. You gasped, holding onto the coffee table in front of you for dear life as you could swear you saw your soul leaving your body for good.
The squelching sounds, juices dripping everywhere making a mess around you two, was enough to make you near your orgasm. He pumped the thing in and out at the same rhythm as he raised his hips. You swore you'd never felt more full in your life, warm and cold at the same time in different places. He stared in awe, watching both of your holes swallow both him and the popsicle smoothly.
When Joel noticed that you were near, he picked up the pace of both: the popsicle that entered your anus with ease, melting and filling you to the brim, and his cock that you could swear you felt on your stomach.
"Thatta girl.. milk my cock, sweetheart. Yeah, good fucking girl."
He babbled nonsense, an indicator that he was close too. With not one, not two, but three thrusts he gripped your hips, biting down –gently– onto your shoulder as he painted your walls white with his seed. You could feel your legs twitching as his body trembled, your name coming out of his mouth in soft prayers. You followed quickly after him, closing your walls around his length in a way that almost got it hard again. You stayed there, bodies still intertwined and covered in fruit juices, panting for air until you both came back to reality.
He then scooped you up into his arms and carried you upstairs. He would clean up the mess later, he said as he guided you both into the shower. Once there, he made sure to clean up every dip and crevice of your body while you felt your eyelids drooping. He caressed your back gently and pressed soft kisses against your forehead and shoulders while rubbing you dry, making sure you were taken care of and never felt like any encounter was just to please him. Then, he carried you to bed and cuddled up against you, placing your head on his chest and running his fingers through your hair gently, like he always did to soothe you.
"We gotta make those more often. You know.. to survive the heat."
He murmured with a smirk as you drifted off to sleep. And all you could wonder was how the fuck did a man twenty years older than you have the stamina of a beast.

Last Song:
Three ships: Clannibal (SOTL; fxm), Braime (GOT; fxm), Malec (SHADOW HUNTERS; mxm)
Favourite color: earth tones, emerald green, black (which is actually not a real colour, but still) Can't decide on one
Currently consuming: Piña Colada liqueur, more than is good for me + dark chocolate with grapes
First ship: Clannibal (this ship is not toxic, it's just different)
Last movie: "I know what you did last summer"
Currently working on: A very disturbing fanfic of Clarice and Hannibal taking revenge on bastard Paul Krendler. Don’t read if you can't swallow more than you can chew. As a writer who enjoys sending characters through hell and back, it was quite pleasing to think of that scenario.

19th Century Philippines Clothing (Upper Class)
Featuring William Shakespeare (Ikemen Vampire) and Auburn (@azulashengrottospiano)
Tumblr media
Full photo:
Tumblr media
Just a guy from overseas visiting his ladylove 🤭
Fun facts:
– The traje de mestiza (translation: mestiza's gown), popularly known as the Maria Clara gown, is a type of traditional clothing in the Philippines worn by the upper-class Filipino women during the Spanish colonial era. It got it's name from Maria Clara, the heroine of the novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo by Dr. Jose Rizal.
The camisa (blouse) and pañuelo or alampay (neckerchief) are made of piña, a type of fabric made from pineapple leaves' fibres. The saya (skirt) and the tapis (overskirt) are made of more opaque material like cotton or silk. Brocade and Jacquard fabrics are also used to make saya skirts worn by the upper-class women.
– Women at the time accessorize themselves by wearing peineta or payneta (decorative hair comb), necklaces, earrings, and abanikos (hand fans).
– Men who studied overseas (also called as Ilustrados, meaning "enlightened ones") are usually shown in photographs wearing late Victorian-style clothing. Upper-class Filipino men who lives in the Philippines during the 19th century wear barong tagalog which is also made of piña cloth. Canes are also a symbol of wealth amongst the upper class.
– Unmarried women are not allowed to meet a man alone without an older female relative watching over them. This is to ensure that the pair will not do something that is against the customs of the time (will elaborate on the next bullet).
– Unmarried couples are not allowed to hold each other, let alone kiss each other (kinda forgot but I think it has something to do with keeping a lady's purity until marriage or something).
If a man accidentally kissed an unmarried woman, he must take responsibility for it and marry her.
That's pretty much it! I had fun drawing these two— er, three, if the lady in the background is counted.

Cora "Surge" Lee
Cora is a 29 year old sanctioned superhero with the ability to control electricity. She goes by the alias "Surge".
Cora's powers manifested later in life than usual, in a private setting with no casualties. The situation was so unusual, and her powers were so strong, that the SRB all but demanded that she immediately begin training to control them in a supervised setting. To the rest of the world - Cora's friends, co-workers, and brothers - this is when Cora began her "clerical job" for the SSD. Only she and her parents know about her powers and her training to become not only a sanctioned super, but also to join the ranks of the SSD as a super. Cora has spent the better part of the last decade training to be able to control her powers. She tries to hide it, but she's terrified that she'll hurt someone or worse while in the field. She takes comfort in the fact that she hasn't "gone live" in the field yet, but is getting stressed at the hints her mentor keeps dropping that this will change soon.
Cora has trouble picking up on subtle social cues. She avoids eye contact when overwhelmed and, when she's especially tired, she has trouble finding her words when speaking, which sometimes makes her sound confused. She has a spinning ring that lets her stim subtly in public, but also has a super soft plushie on her key ring - it smells like lavender and cedar and vanilla, and she'll breathe in the smell when she's overwhelmed, if she's able to.
Julia Santos, known as "Striker" in the field, is Cora's mentor and instructor. While not neurodivergent herself, two of her children are, and the combination of patience and firmness she shows with Cora have been instrumental to her progress in training. Julia's opinion is that Cora needs to get out in the field, worrying that the younger woman will never choose to take on live missions if left to her own devices.
Cora uses a combination of alarms, colors, and the Eisenhower matrix to keep herself on schedule and avoid overwhelm. Red tasks are important and urgent. Yellow tasks are urgent, but not important. Green tasks are important but not urgent. Blue tasks are neither important nor urgent. She sometimes accidentally uses this coloring system in conversations with people outside of her small social circle and gets embarrassed when she does.
Cora loses her appetite when extremely tired or stressed. She keeps a large number of veggie flavored instant noodle cups for these occasions, as it's almost the only thing she can force herself to eat. The only person who can get her to eat anything else when she's like this is Marek. The combination of his cooking skills and his gentle but firm insistence keep her eating "real" foods when she otherwise couldn't stand the thought. She also can't stand mushy foods and will gag if she eats something too mushy by accident. Aside from that, she likes spicy food and almost anything Piña colada flavored.
She lives with a roommate, a colleague and fellow SSD trainee from work named Maria who is her closest female friend. The common areas of the apartment they share are mismatched and eclectic, but functional and comfortable. In Cora's room, the walls are covered in posters of her favorite video games and anime shows. Aside from these decorations, Cora's room is a cluttered mess that only she, Marek, and Jai can decipher. The fact that her bed is always swamped in soft blankets doesn't help the situation, but it is large enough for her and Marek to fall asleep cuddling on when he stays over, so she refuses to ever properly clean up her "nest".
The apartment is located in a nice neighborhood, within walking distance of SSD headquarters. It's also only about a 10-minute drive from Marek's place, although Cora doesn't have a car of her own. Maria isn't fond of Cora's clutter, and Cora doesn't like it when Maria brings romantic partners into their home, but they manage to work things out. Maria really doesn't like Marek, either, often referring to him as "that creep" if he's not present. She realizes how naive Cora is about some things and, based on her own life experiences, worries that Marek is either leading Cora on or setting her up to take advantage of her. Maria has a bit of a crush on Jai, but Cora hasn't picked up on that yet. Maria's hometown is in west Texas, about a 4 hour drive away, so she goes to visit and catch up with her family every few months or so.
Cora has a plant she struggles to remember to water, and she loves playing Minecraft and Katamari Damacy to relax and reset her mental calm. She doesn't have a life goal outside of mastering her powers. She's been terrified of them for so long that she feels guilty for working on other projects when she could be improving her control. She is a big Tolkien fan, though, and has very strong opinions about The Lord of the Rings movies (which were epic) and The Hobbit movies (the later 2 of the 3 were a crime against Tolkien).
Cora has never put words to it, but she naturally has strong submissive tendencies. She's naturally inclined to show obedience to those in authority and she feels more comfortable following someone else's directions than she does making her own decisions. She feels self-conscious about these aspects of herself, and she sometimes overcompensates as Surge to try to hide them. The only person she allows to see really this side of herself is Marek, although Jai has caught glimpses of it. She likes how Marek takes care of her when she's overwhelmed and will often, but not always, instinctively obey when he uses his deeper voice to tell her to do something.
Marek Zima and Jai Leo are Cora's very best friends. She met them at the beginning of her freshman year of high school, brand new not just to the school, but also to San Padua and Texas, itself.
Her relationship with Jai, who's a year older, is very sibling-like: they'll prank each other, take each other's things without asking, and generally be as annoying as possible to each other, but they'll also come to each other's defense in a heartbeat. Their favorite bonding activities are playing Minecraft on their shared server and picking on Marek.
Her relationship with Marek is more complicated. They share a unique dynamic - their friendship isn't romantic or sexual, but platonic in an intense, intimate way that confuses anyone who doesn't know them well. It also includes dominant/submissive aspects that sometimes lean toward codependency. Cora's submissive tendencies come out when she's stressed and tired, so she'll frequently turn to Marek, asking him to decide things for her when she's overwhelmed and, although she'll often act snarky and argue with him, she'll nearly always follow his instructions and directions, especially if he uses the lower, rougher registers of his voice that come out naturally when he's acting dominant. Both of them feel better when Marek has a chance to cook for Cora and make sure she's taking care of herself, and they're both more than used to Cora ignoring his personal space.
Jai doesn't seem bothered by the unusual dynamic between Cora and Marek, and has reassured Cora more than once (usually after Maria's been more vocal about Marek's "bad influence") that there's no single, proper way to be friends with another person and that as long as everyone happy and healthy, that what she and Marek share is fine.
Cora's parents live in the suburbs, about 20 minutes away. Her father was a linguist for the military, but is retired now, and her mother volunteers at the local library. Her youngest brother is getting close to finishing college, but her middle brother joined the military and is stationed in Korea at the moment. Her family has accepted Mark and Jai as if they were their own, and Cora's parents will often ask how their "older sons" are doing. Cora's mom does still gently ask about a marriage between her and Marek sometimes, not really understanding their dynamic, but is never upset (only confused), when the answer is no. Cora loves both Marek's and Jai's families and is as comfortable with them as she is at her own parents' house.
Cora would like to tell Marek and Jai about her powers, and sometimes she's hit with a powerful urge to confess all her secrets, but her fear of putting them and their families at risk, of criminals targeting her favorite people just because she was selfish won't allow her to do that. No matter how badly she wants to.
Physical Description:
Hair: auburn, shoulder length, mostly straight (in a "can't do anything with it" way, rather than a pretty, smooth and sleek way)
Face: soft, friendly, with delicate features. Her eyes are green and expressive
Complexion: fair skin, with lots of freckles, burns easily
Build: slender, average build, in better physical shape than you'd expect for a clerical worker.
Height: around 5'4" (162 cm).
Expression: very expressive face and body language, shows her emotions easily. Has a slightly worried or concentrating look, especially when she's tired or stressed.
Overall appearance: an approachable, girl-next-door look. Her appearance might be somewhat at odds with her superhero alter ego, Surge, making it easier for her to keep her identity secret.
Style: In her civilian life, Cora dresses in comfortable, practical clothing, usually a size or two too big. She'll often steal shirts or hoodies from Marek, and sometimes from Jai, too. As Surge, she wears a dark suit, with bright blue accents. It covers most of her face, but leaves her eyes visible.

"Rose-san... I was wondering... umh... Since you and Azusa-kun are together, what kind of relationship do you have with the other Mukamis? Do you get along with all of them?"
Tumblr media
Sorry for the late reply and thank you for your question. 🤗
This answer will be based on my rp story with @cutelih (Since I still haven’t written an actual story with Azusa) *Still deciding if I should do one or not* 😆
Since our Rp story takes place in a Castle in the Demon World, Maria (Cutelih Oc) and I have to live with the Sakamaki’s, Mukami’s and Yui for the summer. This was all KarlHeinz plan. There I meet Azusa, and yes I get along with his brothers, but honestly I didn’t interact much with them since I was the majority of the time with Azusa but out of his 3 brothers, the one I interacted the most was with Ruki.
Ruki liked that I make his brother happy, and was always helping Azusa when bad situations happened or giving him advice. There’s a beach scene that Azusa, Me and Ruki are drinking Piña Coladas together for a bit. I’ll share the little scene: 😆🍹
🌹: *Goes to the Bar to get a Piña Colada.* (She couldn’t wait any longer)
Azusa: *goes with her* Is that... good...?
🌹: “Yes, it’s delicious! Every time I go to the beach I have to drink one.” *takes another sip of her drink*
“Azusa do you want me to get you one? We can drink it together while enjoying the view of the ocean”
Azusa: Sure... let me... try it...
Ruki: I would like to have one too
🌹: “Sure”
*She orders two more drinks for Azusa and Ruki and hands it to them*
🌹: “I hope you two like it.” *smiles*
Azusa: *sips the drink* hmm...
🌹: *Holds Azusa’s hand and looks at him*
“let’s go sit now and look at the ocean, You can join us if you want Ruki.”
Ruki: *glances at Azusa and smiles at you* I will let you enjoy yourselves. Excuse me. *Walks away*
We know very well that Ruki will never be a third wheel! 😂 but yeah I’ll say Ruki so far is the one I get along the most.
Note: I do have an Oc that I use when I rp, she’s a representation of me. (she’s exactly me but with a different name) I only use her for rp but I don’t introduce her here on Tumblr because I don’t rp on Tumblr, I will only rp on Discord.
My real name is Justine.
My Oc name is Christine.
Azusa calls us “Rose” because our body care products and perfume is the scent of rose. So we smell like roses 24/7 so that’s where the cute nickname comes from. 🌹😆

Filipino traditional costumes are diverse and vary across different regions of the Philippines. Here are some examples:
Tumblr media
Barong Tagalog: The Barong Tagalog is a formal shirt-like garment for men, often worn at special occasions and events. It is made from lightweight fabrics like piña (pineapple fibers) or jusi (banana fibers) and is known for its intricate embroidery. The Barong Tagalog is typically worn untucked over a plain undershirt.
Maria Clara Dress: Named after a character in Dr. Jose Rizal’s novel “Noli Me Tangere,” the Maria Clara dress is a traditional gown for women. It features a flowing skirt and butterfly sleeves, often made from lightweight fabrics like piña or jusi. It’s commonly worn during formal events and occasions.
Terno: The terno is an iconic Filipino formal gown for women. It features a distinctive butterfly sleeve, which can vary in size and design. The terno is often worn at prestigious events and was even popularized by former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
Ilocano Attire: In the northern region of Ilocos, both men and women wear traditional outfits. Men wear a striped woven shirt called “inabel” or “baro’t saya,” while women wear a wrap-around skirt called “patadyong” along with a matching blouse.
T’boli Attire: The T’boli people from Mindanao have unique traditional clothing. Women wear intricately designed blouses and skirts adorned with vibrant colors and patterns. They also wear heavy beadwork and accessories.
Ifugao Attire: The Ifugao people from the Cordillera region wear distinctive attire. Men often wear a loincloth called “wanes” and a wrap-around skirt called “tapis.” Women wear wrap-around skirts and intricately woven tops.
Maguindanao Attire: The Maguindanao people from Mindanao have ornate traditional clothing. Men wear a long-sleeved shirt called “kandit,” while women wear a blouse and a wrap-around skirt called “malong.”
Yakan Attire: The Yakan people from Basilan have vibrant and colorful woven fabrics. Women often wear a “sablay” or “blouse” paired with a “sambayang” or wrap-around skirt.
Mangyan Attire: The Mangyan indigenous groups from Mindoro have distinct clothing. Women wear “tapis,” a wrap-around cloth, and men wear a loincloth called “baag.”
Kalinga Attire: The Kalinga people from the Cordillera region are known for their body tattoos and traditional clothing. Women often wear a “lufid” or wrap-around skirt along with intricate beadwork.
Tumblr media
These examples represent just a fraction of the rich variety of traditional costumes in the Philippines, each reflecting the culture, history, and unique heritage of different regions and indigenous communities.

Article 39. The action or defense for the declaration of absolute nullity of a marriage shall not prescribe. (As amended by R.A. No. 8533)
Garcia-Quiazon vs. Belen
G.R. No. 189121
Jul 31, 2013
Perez, J.
Facts:
The case of "Garcia-Quiazon v. Belen" revolves around the administration of the estate of Eliseo Quiazon, who passed away intestate on December 12, 1992. The petitioners, Amelia Garcia-Quiazon and her children Jenneth and Maria Jennifer Quiazon, contested the petition for letters of administration filed by Maria Lourdes Elise Quiazon (Elise), represented by her mother, Ma. Lourdes Belen (Lourdes). Elise claimed to be the natural child of Eliseo, conceived and born when her parents were both legally capable of marrying each other. Elise challenged the validity of Eliseo's marriage to Amelia, arguing it was bigamous due to Amelia's prior marriage to Filipito Sandico. Elise supported her claim with her Certificate of Live Birth, signed by Eliseo, and filed the petition in the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Las Piñas City. The petitioners contended that the venue was improper, citing Eliseo's death certificate, which indicated he was a resident of Capas, Tarlac. The RTC ruled in favor of Elise, ordering the issuance of letters of administration. The Court of Appeals upheld this decision, prompting the petitioners to seek a review by the Supreme Court.
Issue:
Did the Court of Appeals err in declaring that Amelia Garcia-Quiazon was not legally married to Eliseo Quiazon due to a pre-existing marriage?
Ruling:
The Court noted that a void marriage, such as one that is bigamous, can be questioned even after the death of the parties involved. The Court found sufficient evidence of Amelia's prior marriage to Filipito Sandico, rendering her subsequent marriage to Eliseo void ab initio. The Court also held that Elise, as a compulsory heir, had the right to challenge the marriage and seek letters of administration.

Trouble in Paradise 🌴
Hey islanders! It's your fave island girl, here to let you know there is trouble in Paradise! The Caribbean isn't just sun, sea and sand. Even though the world sees us as the ultimate chill spot, our laid back life still has issues! We’ve got 99 problems and climate change IS one!
Here's why your favourite vacation spot is actually ground zero for some serious environmental chaos.
Why Is This Happening?
Global Warming (Thanks a lot, World): The atmosphere is rapidly heating because of human activities. The burning of fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane, which trap re-radiated heat causing a rise in the temperature of the Earth's surface. Despite the Caribbean's small contribution to these emissions, we are among the most affected. We now face extreme weather events and other serious challenges. We might be the "chill spot," but the climate here is getting hotter than your grandma's pepper sauce. 🌶️
Deforestation (Tree-huggers, Assemble!): Forests act as natural filters by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Removing this defence results in more carbon dioxide in the air, which continues to exacerbate global warming. This means hotter days, losses in biodiversity and increased vulnerability to natural disasters. Hotter days = more “but why is it so hottt?!” conversations... and we all love those right 🥵🌲
Ocean's Gone Wild: Our beautiful oceans are also heating up! You might think, “Ooh, warm water, how nice!”, but this is not at all great for us. Hurricanes get their energy from the warmth of the ocean. This means, warmer waters create stronger hurricanes, as they continue to fuel these storms and cause them to intensify. These 'super' hurricanes create devastating losses to life and infrastructure that some countries can never recover from.
How This Affects Us—Real Talk
Corals in Crisis: You know those beautiful corals you swim alongside while snorkelling? Well, they can barely hold on. Coral reefs are an important habitat for marine life and act as a line of defence for our coastlines. These warmer waters cause coral bleaching, resulting in the death of these crucial ecosystems. Food security and the fishing industry are both impacted as fish populations decline in the unhealthy environment. What will be left for the snorkel loving tourists? 🐠 This loss of biodiversity doesn't only affect the food chains, it also lowers our ability to earn as it is the backbone of our tourism!
Who Will Rule: Farmers or the Weather? It is becoming more difficult for farmers to determine when to plant crops. This is because of the change in rainfall patterns. Crop damage and decreased food production are consequences of the increasingly irregular patterns of drought and heavy rain. As a result, food security is threatened due to the rising costs of production. It becomes more difficult for people to afford locally grown food. When last Auntie found good tomatoes for choka? 🍅
What Are Our Next Steps?
There are times when you might feel like saying, "But we're just a little dot on the globe, how do we impact anything!" Yes, we're small, but we're still economically and ecologically important 💪🏽 Here's what we can do to preserve our paradise:
Gone with the wind or tanned in the sun? Green energy like wind and solar power can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. The Caribbean is well-suited to implement sustainable energy solutions due to its abundance of year round sunlight and daily sea breezes. This can also lower the cost of living for people, by providing incentives like tax breaks that encourage people to turn to cleaner energy while saving money.
Tree planting Party! Reforestation and mangrove protection can safeguard our islands from coastal erosion and storms. It also acts as natural carbon sequestration, making ourselves more resistant to the effects of climate change. Conservation and preservation should be at the forefront of mitigation.
Bawl out loud: Educating the general public is the first step in combatting climate change. By understanding our limitations, international efforts can be improved, in order to fight for better legislation and policies. Locally, we can take decisive action by informing friends, reducing consumption and waste and getting involved in your community. Share this post, because when paradise is at risk, island girls (and guys) speak up! 🌍💬

According to these Gannon’s Maui patrons
“Happy Hour is great!! Food is delicious, had Brussel Sprouts, crab dip and Wagyu burger. Outside atmosphere and view is unbeatable.” Brad H., February 2023 “Gannon’s was recommended to us. And I’d say it was the best dining experience on our trip, hands down. Fantastic food, great drinks, attentive and friendly staff. And of course the beautiful setting. Definitely coming back.” Chris G., February 2023 “We had a large group that took some time to coordinate and Gannons was not only accommodating but flexible with us as the group increased in size. Everyone was kind and helpful from the first phone call to our last sip of wine as we departed, and you toss in great tasting food, generous portion sizes, a beautiful sunset and a place that welcomed kids, and you have achieved five stars! Thanks especially to Sidney and Cara for all of your help!” Bree L., February 2023 “Excellent sunset dinner with beautiful views of the ocean. This restaurant is located within Wailea Golf Club, which is a beautiful property overall. Friendly and attentive service from our server Cody throughout the evening along with the delicious food made for a nice memorable evening. Food quality and taste were good, as expected for a restaurant of this caliber – bbq pork ribs with slaw & pineapple salsa, Korean marinated strip loin with fried rice and cucumber pineapple salad, classic iceberg wedge salad.  Nice Asian flavors fused into the steak and ribs.  We enjoyed the dinner! Their famous coconut roulade dessert was ok- nice crumb on the cake and cream filling was good, but toasted coconut didn’t come through only plain coconut flavor. Great cocktail menu, very creative selections. Cocktails were excellent, strong, especially Mr.Tuttle and Strawberry Fizz.” Chris D., January 2023 “Gannons is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with incredible views! Perfect place to watch the sunset while you sip on Mai Tais and dine on Ahi Poke. Happy Hour options are awesome and a great price!” Amelia S., January 2023 “The concierge at our villas recommended Gannon’s for a family member’s special birthday dinner. We had delicious appetizers, main dishes, and special drinks to celebrate and enjoyed a fabulous sunset, too. Highly recommend Gannon’s.” Julie C., June 2021 Open daily, Gannon’s Restaurant is the perfect spot in Wailea for those looking for something unique and off-the-beaten-tourist-path.
