Bollywood Trailers’ Leading Role In Pandemic
Bollywood Trailers used by actors gives toilet access to women cops in Mumbai on coronavirus lockdown duty.
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”26px”][vc_column_text]Bollywood vanity vans – the luxury trailers where stars relax and prepare for movie shoots – are providing relief to female police officers on coronavirus lockdown duty in India’s financial hub Mumbai. With about 6,500 COVID-19 cases, Mumbai has one of the highest infection rates in the country and police now patrol the streets and man roadblocks to limit the spread of the disease.
Vanity vans – equipped with baths and beds, soaps, sanitisers, sanitary pads and also biscuits – last week began parking by roads and busy highways to support police women. “I was on 12-hour shifts on the road and would go back to the police station each time I had to use the washroom. Some of us are on the road 24 hours,” Nilophar Shaikh, a sub inspector with Mumbai police told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
“I had never entered a vanity van before,” she said. “It had two rooms, a nice washroom and a resting space too.” With the lockdown suspending Bollywood movie shoots indefinitely, a vanity van owner teamed up with a filmmakers’ collective and a charity to put the vans to good use for free.
A Bollywood vanity van given to the Mumbai women police on lockdown duty by its owner Ketan Rawal is seen in this handout picture from Ketan Rawal via Thomson Reuters Foundation Filmmakers said the scheme served a dual purpose: it made toilets accessible to police and gave jobs to drivers and cleaners who were among Bollywood workers hardest hit by the lockdown.
An estimated 13,000 police officers are out on patrol to help enforce the lockdown, a Mumbai police spokesman said, of which about 20% are women. Female police officers said they had done similar gruelling shifts in the past, but used toilets in nearby hotels or commercial or residential buildings, which were now closed.
To cope, many said they were drinking less water to reduce the number of toilet breaks. “We wondered where the women cops on the road would go for washroom breaks. And it is only getting hotter in Mumbai,” said Shishir Joshi of non-profit Project Mumbai, that is coordinating the initiative.
The vans – with television, air conditioners and couches – have also given cops a rare taste of celebrity. “I did think about which stars may have used this vanity van in the past. I felt like a celebrity myself,” Shaikh said.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”26px”][vc_single_image image=”21037″ img_size=”full”][vc_empty_space height=”26px”][vc_column_text]Bollywood vanity vans – the luxury trailers where stars relax and prepare for movie shoots – are providing relief to female police officers on coronavirus lockdown duty in India’s financial hub Mumbai. Shah Rukh Khan To Aaditya Thackeray As Virus Spreads
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coronavirus: Shah Rukh Khan and Aaditya Thackeray exchanged messages on Twitter
Mumbai:
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has thanked Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray for “working so hard for Maharashtra” as the state worst-hit by the novel coronavirus outbreak fights to contain the spread of the infectious virus.
In a tweet posted this evening, Shah Rukh Khan brushed aside a message from Mr Thackeray, who had expressed gratitude after various companies owned by the actor committed to contributing funds to the centre, the state and Mumbai Police, and said: “We don’t ever have to thank each other during times like this. We are a family. Grateful you are working so hard for Maharashtra”.
“Whenever you get alone time.. do write a poem or two. Love to you,” he added.
Mr Thackeray, who last year became the first member of his family to participate in electoral politics, is the state’s tourism and environment minister and is a published poet. In 2007 he authored “My Thoughts in White and Black” and the following year he released “Ummeed”.
Shah Rukh Khan’s tweet was in response to one by Mr Thackeray that said: “Thank you so much Shah Rukh Khanji for your support”.
We don’t ever have to thank each other during times like these. We r a family. Grateful you are working so hard for Maharashtra and whenever you get alone time…do write a poem or two. Love to you. https://t.co/vXkTxEqPni

On Thursday Red Chillies Entertainment, a movie production company owned by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, released a statement that said it would support the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fight against COVID-19.
“Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our own modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference,” a note by Shah Rukh Khan said.
According to the statement Red Chillies Entertainment and three other companies owned by the actor – Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, NGO Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX – committed funds to the PM Cares Fund, the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Mumbai Police.
The Meer Foundation will also feed more than 5,000 families, every day, for at least a month. It will also set up a kitchen to send 2,000 meals to hospitals and households, as well as working with the Roti Foundation to provide three lakh meal kits to 10,000 people per day for at least a month.
The foundation will also provide stipends to 2,500 daily wage workers in Delhi left jobless and in danger of starvation after the Prime Minister’s “total lockdown” last week.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will work with state governments in Maharashtra and West Bengal to contribute 50,000 PPE (personal protective equipment) for doctors and medical staff left under-equipped in the fight against one of the most infectious viral attacks in recent history.
Whilst we stay safe at home, many r working for our safety & fending for themselves. Here’s our little contribution to ensure their health & well being! Separate but together,we will overcome! @iamsrk@PMOIndia@narendramodi@OfficeofUT@AUThackeray@[email protected]/7MI2KT7770

Salman Khan and Disha Patani, after Bharat, will be seen recreating magic in Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai. The film is slated to release in May and the team has been busy shooting on various locations. However, it looks like they will have to reconsider their location choices because of the COVID-19 scare. Starting 2020 on a scary note, the COVID-19 or Corona Virus has left a lot of people infected which has led to complete lockdowns of major cities.
It was only a few days ago that Bollywood Hungama reported how the makers have cancelled their Thailand schedule. Now, after Thailand, they have cancelled their Azerbaijan schedule where Salman and Disha were to shoot for a song in Baku. A lot of people from the team had already left for the location but were immediately called back due to the virus scare. The makers are still trying to figure out a different location since travelling with so many people in an entirely different country when there’s a travel ban, makes no sense.
The film also stars Jackie Shroff and singer Arjun Kanungo. Directed by Prabhu Dheva, Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai is slated to release on May 22.

BW Documentary 3REO (613) Live TV Channel #3reoTVChannel
Monday 07.13.20 Walt Disney World reopened this weekend. Want to know how it went? CNN Travel was there. Here's what else you need to know to Get Up to Speed and On With Your Day. By AJ Willingham Coronavirus The White House is taking aim at the nation's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, after days of disastrous news regarding the resurgent spread of coronavirus. Over the weekend, a White House official told CNN that "several White House officials are concerned about the number of times Dr. Fauci has been wrong on things." President Trump and Fauci are not on speaking terms, so this latest move isn’t exactly a surprise. However, it can’t hide the ominous reality of the pandemic: Virus hot spots like Florida are reporting record numbers of cases and worryingly high rates of positive test results. In areas where the virus is most prominent, hospitals are running out of remdesivir, the drug showed to reduce the seriousness of Covid-19. Cases are spiking around the world as well, in places like Japan and India. Several Bollywood stars have tested positive for the virus, setting India’s film industry on edge. Schools Should children go back to school this fall? If so, how? What’s the risk? What’s the plan? These are the unanswered questions parents, administrators and local leaders have as uncertainty continues to loom over the coming school year. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos did little to clear things up when she refused to say whether schools should follow guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on reopening. In a CNN interview, she called the guidelines “flexible” and said “little flare-ups or hotspots” would be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. DeVos, President Trump and other White House figures have aggressively pushed for children to return to school in person in the fall, even though there aren’t clear plans for things like, say, testing or teacher safety. Some schools are instead planning on a hybrid model, where students will attend in-person classes a few days a week. Hong Kong Around 600,000 Hong Kong citizens braved scorching conditions, a new wave of coronavirus infections and government warnings they could be breaking the law to cast their ballots in the primary election for the city's democratic opposition over the weekend. The opposition camp is hoping to seize a historic majority in the parliament. It’s been less than two weeks since China implemented that restrictive new national security law in the autonomous city, and the government has already hinted that it may use the law to bar potentially dozens of opposition candidates from the general election. However, this weekend’s massive voter turnout has inspired cautious optimism. Poland also voted this weekend in their presidential election. Incumbent President Andrzej Duda has declared victory in the contest, but his challenger Rafal Trzaskowski has refused to concede, saying the race is still too close to call. Economy You thought the economy was already bad? Brace yourself. Major companies are getting ready to release their second quarter earnings, and the numbers are predicted to be even worse. Analysts predict that earnings for the S&P 500 plummeted nearly 45% in the quarter, which would be the biggest drop since a 69% plunge during the depths of the Great Recession in the fourth quarter of 2008. Investors are hoping for a robust recovery early next year. There is fresh economic danger for low income Americans, as well. Many states implemented freezes on utility shutoffs when pandemic restrictions were at their peak. Even though the pandemic is still raging, those moratoriums are being lifted, which could leave countless low-income and unemployed households without power, water and other necessities. Election 2020 Texas? A swing state?! That’s what a new election poll suggests. President Trump is neck-and-neck with Vice President Joe Biden in three key states he won in 2016, according to a set of CBS News/YouGov polls. In Texas, Trump leads Biden 46% to 45% -- a slim margin that makes the historically red state an election toss-up. (A Democratic presidential candidate hasn’t won Texas since 1976.) The other danger zones for Trump: Arizona, where he and Biden are tied, and Florida, where his prevalence has dropped to 48% opposite Biden’s 42%. The new poll isn’t an outlier, either. There have been eight polls released publicly since the beginning of June. The overarching conclusion is that Biden and Trump are basically tied, and previously untouchable states are now fertile ground.

India’s coronavirus cases, Himalayas, K-pop: Your Monday Briefing
(Want to get this briefing by email? Here’s the sign-up.)
Good morning.
We’re covering India’s growing outbreak, the tensions between India and China in the Himalayas and Lebanon’s financial crisis.
India’s raging coronavirus outbreak reaches a revered actor and his circle
On a day when India reported more than 28,000 new coronavirus infections, one case in particular caught the whole country’s attention: Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood star and one of India’s most revered figures.
Mr. Bachchan, known as Big B, announced on Saturday to his 43 million followers on Twitter that he had tested positive, before urging his recent contacts to get tested themselves. His son, Abhishek, and daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, both actors, have also become infected.
India, which closed down early and then reopened to save its battered economy, is now racking up about 30,000 new reported infections each day — more than any other country except the United States and Brazil. And it is rapidly catching up to Brazil. With more than 850,000 cases nationwide, hospitals in India are overflowing.
case study: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/10/world/europe/coroanvirus-scotland-england.html
Here are the latest updates and maps of where the virus has spread.
In other developments:
Caught between Indian and Chinese troops
Weeks after a deadly brawl erupted along the border between China and India, thousands of both countries’ troops are amassed over a contentious, jagged line in the Himalayas.
New satellite photos reveal a major Chinese buildup, including new tents, storage sheds, artillery pieces and even tanks. It all adds up to a growing Chinese push into the Indian region of Ladakh, a move locals say has been in the works for years.
Our reporter spoke to some of the few thousand Ladakhis trapped in between, who are Tibetan in culture but who identify as Indian. They say that incursions have happened for years within a code of silence.
Details: Indian Army officials, who declined to comment, did not act when Ladakhis told them of Chinese incursions into the area, perhaps avoiding conflict or refusing to face the fact that a more powerful and aggressive military was steadily nibbling away at it.
Context: Analysts say China may be taking a more aggressive approach in the area, and may have been provoked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brand of renewed Indian nationalism.
A protest vote in Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s opposition party said on Sunday that over 600,000 residents of the city cast ballots in primaries that some viewed as a symbolic vote against tough national security laws.
The unofficial poll will decide the strongest pro-democracy candidates to contest elections in September for Hong Kong’s Legislative Council. The party is aiming for a majority in what is usually a pro-Beijing body by riding a wave of anti-China sentiment stirred by the new laws.
Though the primaries are only for the opposition camp, participation can be seen as a gauge for popular opinion. It remains to be seen whether Beijing’s new powers will make that path impossible.
Quotable: “A high turnout will send a very strong signal to the international community, that we Hong Kongers never give up,” said Sunny Cheung, 24, one of a batch of aspiring young democrats out lobbying and giving stump speeches.
If you have 13 minutes, this is worth it
Haunted by those she could not save
For all their hero status, health workers around the world face intense pressure and stress, intensified by this pandemic. Dr. Lorna Breen, above, was known for being an unflappable emergency room doctor in Manhattan — until the virus. She suffered a breakdown in the midst of the crisis, and she died by suicide in April.
Dozens of her loved ones shared memories of her with our reporters, and told them about how she was devastated that she could not help many of her patients. “She had something that was a little bit different,” recalled her colleague and friend Dr. Barbara Lock, “and that was this optimism that her persistent efforts will save lives.”
Here’s what else is happening
China: Xu Zhangrun, a law professor in Beijing known for criticizing the Communist Party, was allowed to go home after being detained a week ago, people familiar with him said.
K-pop: Fans of the band Blackpink, many of them in India, unleashed a torrent of criticism, including accusations of cultural appropriation and disrespect, after a statue of the Hindu god Ganesha flashed onscreen in a music video. The video was removed, and the band apologized. It was another example of how eagle-eyed K-pop fans will come together to push for issues they believe in.
Roger Stone: President Trump’s commutation of the sentence of his former campaign adviser for obstructing an investigation into Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign was the latest example of Mr. Trump bending legal machinery to his advantage.
In case you missed it: The center-right People’s Action Party, which has never been out of power, won again in Singapore’s elections, but by a narrower margin than usual. The opposition racked up a record 10 of Parliament’s 93 seats.
Snapshot: Above, the police drag protesters in Beirut on Sunday. Our correspondents took stock of how Lebanon’s financial crisis has sent inflation soaring and closed businesses, replacing the city’s once raucous nightlife with an eerie desolation.
What we’re reading: This South China Morning Post article about students derailed by U.S. visa restrictions. “U.S.-China tensions are playing out not just on the world stage but at schools like the University of Rochester, where 19 percent of students are Chinese,” writes Jennifer Jett, an editor in Hong Kong. “But it’s not as simple as one side against the other.”
Now, a break from the news
Cook: David Tanis’s vegetarian burger doesn’t mimic the texture or look of ground meat, but it isn’t meant to. It’s more like deluxe refried beans, with an egg on top.
Read or listen: The Times Magazine’s “Decameron Project,” inspired by Boccaccio’s 14th-century tales during the plague, brings together 29 new short stories from writers including Margaret Atwood, Yiyun Li, Esi Edugyan and Charles Yu. You can listen to two of the stories here.

And now for the Back Story on …
Personal finance lessons
Paul B. Brown, a freelance writer, entered the pandemic believing he was in good shape financially, but he lost most of his income virtually overnight. Now, he says, he has a lot more to do. He shared some of the lessons he has learned.
Keep even more cash on hand.
The standard personal finance advice is to have at least three months of living expenses stashed away in something liquid and ultrasafe. I am going to try to get that number up to a year’s worth of reserves. The goal is more to create peace of mind than to increase my net worth. I never want to worry about meeting day-to-day expenses again.
Manage debt more aggressively.
I’ve always paid off my full credit card balances each month, so I have never had credit card debt. But I do have three mortgages. I always paid more than I had to each month on each mortgage, because I considered prepaying a kind of forced savings. The mortgages have different interest rates. From now on, I am going to put all extra payments toward the one with the highest interest rate.
Keep the big picture in mind.
You never buy insurance because you hope to submit a claim someday. You do it to protect against a time when something awful may happen. I have always thought of saving money the same way.
But the pandemic has made me realize that I’m not sure how much I’ll really need to have salted away to protect my family and to keep our solidly middle-class standard of living intact, both now and into the future.
That’s it for this briefing. See you next time.

Make an App to Tribute Bollywood Actor Irrfan Khan | MIT App Inventor [Quotes Gallery App]
youtube
I have created this app in MIT app inventor. In this app we can save some favorite quotes of our Role Model Irrfan Khan, one of Bollywood’s most beloved stars who had achieved considerable success in the west, has died aged 53. He had been admitted to the intensive care unit of Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital on Tuesday with a colon infection and on Wednesday morning a statement was released confirming his death. “It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away,” read the statement. “Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him.” Despite his status as one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actors, Khan had a reputation for modesty and integrity and news of his death sent India into mourning, prompting actors, fans and politicians from across the world to express their sadness at his death. Indian prime minister Narendra Modi said that Khan’s demise was “a loss to the world of cinema and theatre. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers. May his soul rest in peace.” Fellow Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan said Khan’s death left a “huge vacuum”. “An incredible talent, a gracious colleague, a prolific contributor to the world of cinema … left us too soon,” tweeted Bachchan. “The charisma you brought to everything you did was pure magic,” tweeted Priyanka Chopra. “Your talent forged the way for so many in so many avenues. You inspired so many of us. Irrfan Khan you will truly be missed. Condolences to the family.” Indian politician Rahul Gandhi described Khan as a “versatile and talented actor” who would be “greatly missed” while Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said India had lost “one of the most exceptional actors of our time.” In March 2018, Khan revealed he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour, but after extensive treatment he recovered well enough to shoot Angrezi Medium, the film that would turn out to be his last, and whose release this March was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic. Best known to English-speaking audiences as the police inspector in Slumdog Millionaire and for his roles in Jurassic World and Life of Pi, Khan was a Bollywood mainstay, acting in hits such as Haider, Piku and Hindi Medium.I came into this industry to tell stories and do cinema and I was stuck in television,” he told the Guardian.

Diplo announces he is ‘self- quarantining’ himself from sons until certain he doesn’t have coronavirus - Times of India
International DJ Diplo has become the latest celebrity to announce he is self- quarantining himself from his home and kids, following weeks of travel and interacting with multiple people.
Taking to his social media handles, the musician shared lengthy notes on the importance of social distancing, at least till one can confirm they are not infected with the coronavirus.
Sharing a video of himself reaching out to his sons at a glass window, he penned a note that read, “My sons are too young to understand the complexities of what’s happening. But they aren’t anxious and nervous like the rest of us. They live in a house with their grandmother who is the most vulnerable. I have been in contact with hundreds of people in the past four weeks… And I’m staying away from the house until I am cleared of the virus. This hurts because I miss them so much they are what makes me wake up every day and live and breath, they are my ultimate joy, but this is my sacrifice to make sure everyone around me is safe.. I haven’t had this much time home in years, and I wanted to build Legos and watch movies with them.. But for now im just going to stay by the window and listen to them play drums and sing for me .. Think about others in every decision you make in the coming weeks. This isn’t A drill.. We already have enough news from Italy Iran Korea and China about the best ways to slow this.. We need to be smart, going out and interacting with groups is canceled, but kindess is not canceled, Love is not canceled, empathy is not canceled. Happiness is not canceled… Stay strong for the ones who can’t right now.”
Following the many messages from concerned fans and friends, he took to his handle to assure all was well but stressed on the importance of taking extra precaution.
Several Bollywood and Hollywood stars have taken to social media to announce that they are currently under self-quarantine as all shooting and production work has been halted.

New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/coronavirus-lockdown-how-bollywood-stars-from-priyanka-chopra-to-kareena-kapoor-khan-are-spending-their-new-found-free-time-times-of-india/
Coronavirus lockdown: How Bollywood stars from Priyanka Chopra to Kareena Kapoor Khan are spending their new-found free time - Times of India
With the novel coronavirus continuing to spread globally and claiming the lives of more than 3000 individuals, advisories issued by the state and central governments have been taking the necessary precautions to try to bring the situation under control. In India, numerous events from the world of film and television have been postponed or cancelled entirely. Following the Coronavirus outbreak, it was declared that cinema halls in major markets like Mumbai and Delhi will remain closed till March 31.
The Producers Guild of India, on the other hand, released an official statement on Sunday, stating that shoots of Hindi films, shows and ads across the country will be suspended from March 19 to 31. The units of Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Jersey’, Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ were among the first in Bollywood to call off work voluntarily. Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ was the first film to announce a change in its release date.
While it’s only been a few days since the lockdown, experts are finding it difficult to place a ball-park figure on the losses that the industry stands to suffer. However, our favourite B-town celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and many others are making the most of their newly freed-up calendars. Whether it is spending time with family or catching up on some reading or even cuddling up to their pooches these stars sure know how to make the most of their free time.

Kareena was busy shooting for ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ with Aamir Khan when the makers decided to call off the shoots to prevent the spread of the virus.
Akshay Kumar
With ‘Sooryavanshi’ now postponed, Akshay Kumar took some time to spend a lazy afternoon with his wife Twinkle Khanna. A picture of the star-couple surfaced online that saw Twinkle resting her feet on her hubby as they a sunny day out indulging in some personal time together. Twinkle also shared some words of advice to help prevent the spread of the virus. She said, “When you can’t grin and bear it, then it’s time to have a gin to bear it, or at least that’s what I tried to do this Sunday 🙂 I read something very interesting as well yesterday, ‘We should not worry about getting the virus but we should modify our behaviour as if we already have it and don’t want to infect others, as that is the only way to contain it.’”
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra is having the best time staying indoors spending some quality time with her pet pooch Gino. The actress took to her Instagram handle to share pictures of herself cuddling with her pooch and captioned it saying, “Staying home during this time is the safest thing to do. @ginothegerman giving mommy hugs makes it so much better.” The actress who was in India to tend to some work commitments, flew back to the US last week to resume work on her American television commitments.

Sharing a goof selfie with his co-star from the sets, he wrote an important message that read, “Sitting at home missing work & being on set but safety first always.
