The lyrics feel so twisted considering what the dance is actually about. ""Forever starts tonight"": yeah sure, for one of the characters on that stage at least. The soft-spoken cover of this song stands in stark contrast to Fabio playing the psychotic creeper desperately trying to convince himself that his one-sided love will be reciprocated eventually and be it through brute force even though half of this routine basically consists of Manuella walking away from Fabio with a stern look and shoving him away resolutely with him following her like a lost puppy repeated ad naseum. The ending almost feels a bit anticlimatic with how abrupt the it is. He holds her up in the air for five seconds and bam, the resisting love interest is no more. After losing their original partner the week before this was probably the kind of routine Manuella and Fabio needed to keep them safe and to catapult them into the top 10.

#SYTYCD#So You Think You Can Dance#Jasper Steverlinck#veils#Isabelle Beernaert#Top 500#Manuella Verzwyvel#26#Malik Muhammed#22#videos#Modern#The biggest asset to this routine is probably its rawness especially since it forms such a contrast to the evening attire#the two dancers are wearing.#Malik's single hoarse bloodcurdling scream is the defining point of this routine for me:#At this moment he simply lets loose and vents his helpless frustration and pent-up sadness over the loss of a loved one#while Manuella can only watch from the side-lines but powerless to change anything#for she has already half-way crossed the threshold to the underworld.#Even though Manuella is the one dressed in eye-catching red#it's ultimately Malik who's the protagonist in this dance it's about his struggle his anger his loss.#And while Malik's technical short-comings were exposed like at no other point in the competition aside from his Ballroom routines#this dance pierced me right through the heart and I suspect many voters felt the same thus earning him the win the same night.
