Wednesday 100: Homecoming

The sight is so jarring at first, Claire thinks she must be hallucinating. She’d fastened that little brown coat’s buttons more times than she could count. She would know that wide-brimmed hat pulled down over blonde locks anywhere. Jemmy!

Her heart is in her throat when the hat tilts up, and it isn’t blond locks or the dear face she knows underneath, but one that still tugs on memories of Brianna at that age. Impossible. But she knows, even before Jamie’s eyes lighten with recognition, before Brianna, Roger, and impossibly-tall Jem come into view.

Mandy is whole; they’ve come home.
