It’s been nearly a week and you’re still stuck in some improvised quarantine chamber down in medbay. About six days ago, you were part of a team that went down to the surface of a deserted planet to collect some samples and to see if there was life. 

Everything was fine, you collected a good amount of samples and even discovered a weird sort of reptile living near some mountains. Everything was completely fine, until you got back on Enterprise and one of the other crew members that was part of the team started to get very sick.

He was constantly throwing up, his temperature was dangerously high, he was sweating like crazy and had trouble breathing. Phlox immediately separated him from the rest of the crew to find out what happened to him. 

Out of precaution, the rest of the crew members that had been on the planet had to go in quarantine, even if they didn’t show any signs of sickness. This meant you had to be quarantined as well. And you hated it. 

Firstly, because Phlox wanted to do test after test to be absolutely sure you weren’t sick as well. It got to the point where he would wake you up in the middle of the night to do more tests with you. You were pretty sure he’d done every test he could think of.

Secondly, because Captain Archer flat out refused to give you a padd so you could get some work done. He told you to “focus on getting better”. And you told him, as you do every time he visits you to see how you’re doing, that you didn’t need to get better because you’re not sick in the first place. Still, he refused to let you work, and so all you could really do was wait.

And lastly, probably the one that annoyed you the most, you couldn’t be with your boyfriend, Malcom. Though he was allowed to visit you in medbay in between shifts or on his breaks, Phlox insisted he remained as close to the door as possible. 

Because Phlox was always in medbay, you couldn’t have real conversations with Malcom. Most of the times you just talked about his day, what was happening on the ship and other bits of small talk. You couldn’t wait to get out. 

Every time you thought Phlox had run out of tests he could do, he found yet another one, forcing you to be stuck in medbay for yet another day or two. Phlox didn’t seem to mind, he wanted to be absolutely sure you weren’t sick. You pointed out to him you were the last one in quarantine and you didn’t have any symptoms. Other crew members that also didn’t have symptoms got out way quicker than you did. 

Phlox assured this was because you have an important position on the ship and you work with a lot of different departments. Because you didn’t want to ruin the good mood of basically the only crew member you saw, you sort of nodded along to whatever he was saying. But it was starting to get annoying. You wanted to get out, to see Malcom, to hold him close, and to do your damn job. 

When you wake up on the seventh day, you expect Phlox to be ready to take even more tests. Instead, he’s nowhere to be found in medbay. You walk around your improvised little chamber, looking at every corner of medbay. Phlox is not in medbay. 

You frown as you sit down on your bed. There’s nothing you could do but wait. You could contact Phlox if he’s taking longer, but maybe he’s just getting something to eat and he’ll be back in a while. 

About 45 minutes later, however, Phlox still hasn’t returned. You walk to the intercom and press a button.  ‘Phlox, it’s Y/L/N. Where are you?’ you say. You wait for a while, but he doesn’t respond to you. That’s weird. Normally, Phlox is very fast with his replies. 

You decide to try and see if Captain Archer knows what’s going on. You press the button and say ‘Y/L/N for Captain Archer.’ No response. Why would both the doctor and the captain of the ship not reply?

While starting to worry, you press the button again. ‘Y/L/N for Reed.’ you say. Thankfully, Malcom does answer you. ‘Reed here.’ he says.

You let out a sigh. ‘Thank god. Phlox and Captain Archer aren’t responding. Is something happening?’ you say.  ‘Not that I know of. Phlox did call the captain away but he didn’t sound too worried.’ says Malcolm.

‘I’m going crazy. I haven’t got any of the symptoms, I feel completely fine, yet Phlox insists on keeping me locked up.’ you say. ‘Okay, first of all, you are not locked up, you are quarantined. There’s a difference.’ says Malcolm.

‘To you there’s a difference. You’re not the one that’s locked up.’ you say. ‘Want me to come to medbay? Keep you company?’ says Malcolm. ‘Your break starts in five minutes.’ you point out. ‘I don’t think anyone would mind if I leave five minutes early.’ says Malcolm. 

A few minutes later the doors to medbay open and Malcolm walks in. You smile at him and because Phlox isn’t around, he takes that opportunity to walk up to the glass separating you from the rest of the room.

‘Hi.’ he says.  ‘Hey.’ you say, glad he’s closer than he has been in seven days. ‘I hope no one called you out for leaving early.’ you say and Malcolm shakes his head. Just as you open your mouth to talk to him again, the doors open. Instinctively, Malcom jumps away from the glass.

Phlox and Captain Archer enter the room, apparently discussing something important, judging by the looks on their face and their hushed voices. They look up when they notice Malcolm is in the room.

‘Reed. Your break just started, are you going to tell me you sprinted down to medbay and beat me to it?’ says Archer.  Malcolm shakes his head. ‘No, Captain, I left five minutes early. I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal if I got back five minutes early after my break.’ says Malcolm. 

Captain Archer nods and turns his attention to you. ‘How are you feeling, Y/L/N?’ he says.  ‘Annoyed.’ you say. ‘When am I finally getting out of here?’  ‘Yes, about that.’ says Captain Archer and he gestures for Phlox to come forward.

‘I ran every test I could think of-’ ‘Yes, I am aware of that.’ ‘Y/L/N, please don’t interrupt me this is important information.’ says Phlox and you quickly apologise. 

‘As I was saying.’ says Phlox. ‘I ran every test I could think of multiple times and they all got back negative. Even though some crew members got sick, you didn’t. So you’re free to return to your own quarters and your station. You don’t need to be quarantined any longer.’ 

You look from Phlox to Captain Archer. ‘You kept me in this glass box for a week, with no physical contact, having to get tested over and over again, and now you’re telling me it was all for nothing?’ you say. You feel anger rising in you and try to remain calm. They basically just wasted a week of your life on this ship.

‘Well, we couldn’t be entirely sure you were okay before running all those tests, Y/L/N.’ says Captain Archer. ‘You kept me here for a week!’ you say, your voice getting louder. ‘I got way more tests than the others! The only contact I had was with you, Phlox or Malcolm! The only times I actually felt someone touching my skin was when Phlox was taking blood samples, and he was wearing gloves so it doesn't even count! Do you know what it’s like not to be touched for a week?’

‘Y/N.’ says Captain Archer. ‘We did it out of precaution. Yes, we made a mistake by keeping you in quarantine longer than necessary. We’re sorry it made you feel like this, I understand what it must be like to not be able to touch anyone. But you can get out now.’

Phlox walks over to the glass door and unlocks it. You can see the hesitation in his eyes before he opens it, allowing you to step out. You take a deep breath in and immediately walk over to Malcolm. He smiles at you as you wrap your arms around him and bury your face in his neck. 

‘You can take the rest of the day off, and start your usual shift tomorrow.’ you hear Captain Archer say. You turn to look at him, still holding onto Malcolm. ‘Actually, sir, if you don’t mind, I’d like to start immediately.’ you say.  Captain Archer nods. ‘That’s okay.’ he says and he leaves medbay. 

You turn your attention back to Malcolm. ‘Want to go and grab something to eat?’ you say and Malcolm smiles and nods. You let go of him to intertwine your fingers with his. 

Even though it’s been more than a week, feeling Malcolm’s touch could never feel strange to you. It's like coming home. And as the two of you walk out of medbay, you feel better than you have in days. You’re finally able to hold Malcom again, and to feel him kissing your cheek.

Ok I have a cute little story/blurb idea: Daniel keeps a journal on his nightstand to write down his dreams, and write down the things his partner says and/or does in their sleep. I imagine entries along the lines of “S/O woke me up by slapping my chest and mumbling nonsense, then promptly fell back asleep” (I’ve done this to my friend a few years ago and she got all freaked out 😂😂 so I’m wondering what Daniel would do) if you have any other entry ideas, go wild

This is so cute! I can just imagine him trying to hold back laughter while he's writing stuff down, he doesn't want to wake you up, but it's hard sometimes.

Y/n woke me up when they fell out of bed around 3am. I heard a loud thud followed by a sleepy whine. I helped them back into bed, moving over so they could have the middle, and they curled up against my chest. They fell back asleep almost immediately.

Entry 31

I woke up to my arm asleep and my shoulder covered in drool last night. I don't really mind and anyway, Y/n looked so cute with their cheek squished against me.

I got home late last night and Y/n was star-fished on the bed, blankets strewn everywhere, their face buried in my pillow. As soon as I laid down next to them they started mumbling something about fish and windows. It took a bit, but I finally cuddled and shushed them back to sleep. The last thing they muttered before drifting off was that they loved me and it my heart swell. I swear I fall in love with them all over again every time I seem them, and even deeper so whenever I get to hold the close and tell them, even if they are asleep.

Marvel’s WandaVision Episode 6: MCU Easter Eggs and Reference Guide

This article contains WANDAVISION spoilers through episode 6, possibly beyond, and for the wider MCU.

It’s Halloween in Westview, and WandaVision is going all out. From the most comics-accurate looks for Scarlet Witch, Vision, Quicksilver, and even Wiccan to an eerie “Wicked Witch of the West” getup for Agnes, this episode isn’t messing around with its pop culture references. Oh yeah, and the whole thing feels faintly like an episode of Malcolm in the Middle, too!

Let’s get to work, because there’s a lot to unpack on WandaVision episode 6…

Halloween in Westview

The episode’s title is “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!” which on its own already sounds like the kind of cover blurb you’d see on an issue of Marvel Comics. Marvel in particular is known for using the “All-New!” designation, sometimes in titles for the books themselves.

The first issue of the second The Vision and the Scarlet Witch series from Marvel Comics took place on Halloween night, so the pair have a history of canonical adventures around the holiday. That story had absolutely nothing to do with the events of this episode, though.

Sitcom Influences

The format and intro are definitely supposed to resemble Malcolm in the Middle, which began in January 2000. Tommy and Billy both break the fourth wall to talk to the viewer just like Malcolm (Frankie Muniz). The theme song practically tells you to stop questioning the reality of Westview and just enjoy what’s going on. How very Mystery Science Theater 3000 of them.

Pietro, Peter, and Quicksilver

Nope, nothing complicated about the whole Peter/Pietro/Quicksilver thing at all. Nothing we had to write an entire article about to try and make sense of, nossir.

The recap makes sure to show Avengers: Age of Ultron footage just to drive home that we have two different versions of Quicksilver here.

Interestingly, Peter’s speed effect is very much how his power was represented in Age of Ultron, not how it was in the X-Men films. He seems to have at least SOME of the memories of MCU Pietro…assuming that’s who he is in the first place.

Tommy says Billy is afraid that Uncle Pietro is a vampire. Well, we do see him in an undead form later on, so close enough! Plus there’s a strong chance that he represents an entity that’s trying to siphon energy/magic from Wanda.

Pietro is quick to point out that he has the “XY chromosome.” Any excuse for him to announce the letter X, considering which version of Pietro we’re talking about.

He mentions “‘Uncle Peter’ to the rescue.” The Evan Peters version of Quicksilver was referred to as Peter Maximoff.

Pietro dresses as the comic version of Quicksilver, as does Tommy, who has the same powers (while claiming to be dressing as the cooler twin, a slam on both Billy and his mother).

At one point, right before Pietro and the kids run off, Tommy describes something as “kick-ass” and Wanda repeats, “Kick-Ass?” out loud. The movie Kick-Ass starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson (the MCU Quicksilver) as the titular character while Evan Peters (the other Quicksilver) played his best friend.

Pietro and Tommy say, “I feel the need for speed!” The quote is from 1986’s Top Gun. Also, Tommy’s superhero name in the comics is Speed, so there’s that. If we stretch realllllly (unnecessarily!) far, we can connect the upcoming Top Gun sequel to Marvel, as it stars Miles Teller who played Reed Richards in Josh Trank’s woeful Fantastic Four reboot.

Wanda lashes out at Hex Pietro when he is cavalier about Vision’s fate – “It’s not like your dead husband can die twice.” The taunt is super cruel and doesn’t feel like something either version of her twin would say. Wanda’s violent reaction certainly speaks volumes about just how attached to this manifestation of Mr. Maximoff she is – not very.

Wanda doesn’t seem to fully trust this version of Pietro, who knows a suspicious amount about what’s really going on here. He’s asking a lot of painful, pointed questions she’s not ready to address.

Peter’s tattoo says “MoM” – Multiverse of Madness, Mother of Mutants, Magneto’s Own Mutants, or a red herring? We’re sure the internet will have fun theorizing regardless.

That You, Mephisto?

Some of Uncle Pete’s exclamations have strong Mephisto energy “Unleash hell, demon spawn!” “The kids need a father figure” “Damnit, if Westview, New Jersey isn’t charming as Hell…” Has the rumored Marvel Comics villain behind all this integrated himself in the The Hex passing as Pietro? We shall have to see.

The town’s theatre is called the Coronet. Classic poem ‘The Coronet’ is written by an English metaphysical poet called Andrew MARVELL. It’s about a dude who knows the sins of man led to the death of Christ. He tries to make a new crown for Christ’s head in a bid to atone, but finds that there is sin in this too, as the devil is entwined in it and therefore he might achieve some glory with this new creation. Fitting.

Wiccan and Speed

Billy and Tommy are starting to resemble their comic book counterparts more and more. Billy in particular is wearing his “Wiccan” costume from the comics, and Tommy continues to conform to his “Speed” color scheme…except when he dresses like his Uncle Pietro as Quicksilver.

Ellis Avenue

Ellis Avenue is an odd reference. Warren Ellis has written many, many comics, but nothing of note with the characters involved in WandaVision. The closest thing would be Marvel Ruins, a dark, cynical, horror version of the Marvel Universe where everything went wrong. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver had very minor appearances in there.

The closest other thing would be Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., a probably non-canonical series that teamed Monica Rambeau, Machine Man, Boom Boom, Elsa Bloodstone, and The Captain teamed up to fight…lots of weird shit, to be honest…including several reality altering threats.

Agnes

In her daze, Agnes mentions getting lost, with Vision pointing out that she supposedly grew up in this town. Agnes also talks about making a “wrong turn.” This might have something to do with Agnes’ claim in the first episode that she didn’t actually come to town until AFTER Wanda and Vision had (jokingly citing a visit from her mother-in-law as the reason).

Agnes’ crazed laughter goes perfectly well with her witch costume, giving off some wicked Wizard of Oz vibes.

Agnes’ license plate number is either DA1 B2C or 0A1 B2C. Whichever it is, this is an incredibly generic plate number, either a nod to the artificiality of Wanda’s overall illusion or perhaps an indicator that Agnes is creating this as something that looks “fake” in order to further blend in. Which brings us to…

Is it possible that Agnes is “faking” her confusion here and in episode 5?

Similarly, her “naughty” sweatpants had a rather sinister, possibly demonic, font to them, didn’t they?

Scarlet Witch

Wanda describes her Halloween costume as a “Sokovian fortune teller” while dressed as her comic self. Vision is also his comic self, but is identified as a professional wrestler.

Vision

Vision is apparently supposed to be dressed like a Mexican wrestler, but c’mon, even though it’s no longer era-appropriate there was a Honeymooners-esque “Man From Mars” joke right there!

When Vision collapses to his knees on the ground with his cape blowing in the wind, the shot is composed much like his death scene in Avengers: Infinity War. Wanda’s magic is again the culprit of his demise, albeit unintentionally this time.

Vision showing how selfless he is again – even as he’s being ripped apart he’s trying to save the people of Westview instead. Another pure reminder of Vision’s introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron when he proved he was worthy enough to wield Mjolnir.

Vision apparently has no memory of being a member of the Avengers, which is certainly strange.

Thanks to Wanda, Vision is an Avenger Disassembled!  Get it? Anyone? No?

The Yo Magic Commercial

Yo Magic is a yogurt snack, but the commercial has a real strong Shark Bites vibe. Shark Bites were terrible, you probably would have died too if that was all you were allowed to eat on a desert island.

“Snack on Yo Magic!” MIGHT indicate that someone or something is feeding off of Wanda’s deal here, or perhaps she is channeling the mystical energy of someone even stronger than herself to keep The Hex alive.

There’s yet another reference to the Infinity Stones in this commercial. This ad features a kid alone on a desert island who grimly ends up looking like ol’ Red Skull on Vormir – he’s the sole (Soul) survivor. There’s no doubt in our minds these commercials are all about both the stones and horrible moments from Wanda’s past.

Cataract

SWORD director Hayward’s top secret project “Cataract” included experiments on Vision’s body, as revealed by Darcy. A cataract is “a cloudy area in the lens of the eye that leads to a decrease in vision” – has Hayward weaponized Vision? He’s definitely up to something nefarious.

The Cataract is also one of the stages in X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.

Westview

The town motto on the altered billboard when the Hex expands is “Westview: Home is Where You Make It.” This was less visible on the earlier version, although the juxtaposition of the old and new billboards calls to mind the “Twin Pines/Lone Pine” sign from Back to the Future. 

The Coronet theatre’s marquee features The Incredibles (2004) and The Parent Trap. The former is about a superhero family who retires to the suburbs, and the latter is about reunited twins! Both properties are owned by Disney. The Incredibles have often been likened to the Fantastic Four, and in September, 2019 director Brad Bird publicly shot down rumors that he was in the running to helm Marvel’s First Family reboot. The voice of Frozone/Lucius Best in The Incredibles is none other than Samuel L. Jackson aka the MCU’s own Nick Fury! It’s likely that The Parent Trap in question here is the 1998 version, given the time period. This would help place this “era” of Westview somewhere between 1998 and 2004.

Wanda expands The Hex to save Vision, sucking in most of SWORD and Darcy, too. Since we now know that when you are enveloped by the barrier it changes you on a cellular level, Wanda could accidentally be creating a range of new superheroes. How much bigger can The Hex get as Wanda’s anger grows and how many people will it affect?

Monica Rambeau

Darcy unveils evidence that Monica’s DNA has been altered by crossing the barrier of The Hex twice. It seems like she’s well on the path to becoming her superpowered comics counterpart. WandaVision is turning out to be our longform superhero origin story for Monica Rambeau! Of course, Darcy has also now been pulled through the barrier – will she be affected in the same way?

Darcy and Jimmy Woo

Monica and Woo are off to meet her “guy” who will help them – who will it be? We have our theories.

Darcy is seen wearing a Mickey Mouse watch when she’s hacking into Hayward’s files. Probably no need to point out this Disney connection!

Among the names of the people who drop down when Darcy is emailing Jimmy Woo:

James Gadd – works in post-production at Marvel Studios

James Alexander – a visual effects producer on WandaVision

Back in episode 4, Darcy referred to the other people she was travelling with to the SWORD camp as “the full clown car.” The joke pays off again in episode 6 when a bunch of SWORD gets sucked into The Hex and turned into clowns.

As far as we know, Jimmy has still not identified the Westview man in witness protection he’s been searching for since episode 4. This mystery will survive another week. What if it’s…Pietro? Nah. Unless…

Random Marvel and Halloween Stuff

In the background, one kid is dressed as an off-brand Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. The first Mortal Kombat came out in 1992, fitting a more ’90s aesthetic.

Someone is dressed as Jason Voorhees, and his sweater is striped like Freddy Krueger’s, the peanut butter to Jason’s jelly. The iconic slashers faced off in 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason, so it’s a mash-up that suits the time period.

Wanda tossed Quicksilver over some fake tombstones. One of them is for Janell Sammelman. Janell Sammelman worked on WandaVision as a first assistant director.

Pietro and the kids are shotgunning “Kane Cola” which on the one hand sounds like it could be an “extreme” ‘90s/early oughts drink like Jolt Cola or Surge (remember those ridiculously stupid commercials?), but with all the X-Men teasing they’re doing, maybe Garrison Kane was a soft drink magnate in the MCU before his powers manifested. No? Ok.

Could Wanda asking about the kid in the orphanage who “had the skin thing” be a reference to maybe another mutant kid? Former Brotherhood colleague Toad?

One of the houses is made up with a sign that says “Macabre Mansion.” They’re …probably not referencing best-forgotten Marvel villain Madam Macabre or similarly obscure Moon Knight villain Dansen Macabre (get it?).

During a flashback, Billy and Tommy are shown playing Dance Dance Revolution, which came out for home consoles in 1999. Also, in their room, on the right, is that Dogpool? A dog doll colored in the style of Deadpool?

Wanda closes apps (people) to reduce load times. Or maybe they’re video game NPCs. In any case, it’s disturbing.

Infatuation - Malcolm Reed

It happens every time your shifts overlaps with Malcolm’s. He isn’t paying attention and he makes mistakes that you know he wouldn’t have made otherwise. You wonder why he’s not doing his job well whenever you’re on the bridge as well.

It isn’t until you had a conversation with Travis the other night, you started to wonder about it more. Travis had more shifts with Malcolm than you did, and what he told you caught your interest.

According to Travis, Malcolm doesn’t actually mess up a lot. He’s quite good at his job, actually. The entire bridge crew thinks so, including Captain Archer. It isn’t until you start your shift and enter the bridge that Malcolm starts to mess up and make mistakes.

You confessed to Travis you thought it might be your fault, that you maybe said something in the past that upset him. Whatever you did, it made Malcolm stare at you non-stop. You were still able to do your job, though. You pretended you couldn’t feel his eyes burning in your back. It’s as if they’re glued to you. 

Not that you mind. You’ve always thought of Malcolm as a very intelligent, kind and, yes, attractive man. You would never say this to anyone, and especially not someone that’s stationed on the same ship as you. You could already imagine the embarrassment if someone found out. People like Trip and Travis would tease you endlessly. You really couldn’t afford to be distracted by them the way Malcolm seems to be distracted by you.

No, you needed to do your job. And you couldn’t have any distractions. You were hoping for a promotion, so you needed everything to be flawless when you were working. 

After a very long shift you drag yourself along the corridors of Enterprise, on your way to your quarters. You share the hallway with a few other crew members. Your quarters are next to Malcolm’s and across from Trip’s. 

Malcom messed up again during his shift and Enterprise nearly crossed the border with enemy space. Malcolm got called into the captain’s quarters and it took very long for him to get out again. When he did, he looked guilty and very upset. You had tried to talk to him whenever you weren’t busy, but he just didn’t reply to you.

You walk around the corner and see the door to Trip’s quarters are open. He’s standing in the door, leaning against its frame while talking to Malcolm. Both men have a very serious look on their face. Trip’s nodding along to whatever Malcolm’s saying. 

‘Hi.’ you say when you’re within hearing range and you see the two of them give you a surprised look.  ‘Well, I don’t know about you two but I am tired as hell.’ you say. ‘That really was a close call.’ ‘Yeah it was.’ says Trip. 

You turn to look at Malcom, who is looking at his feet and doesn’t show any signs he heard you.  ‘Malcolm?’ you say. ‘Everybody makes mistakes, don’t blame yourself.’  ‘Nobody messes up as much as I do. I should resign. Tell captain Archer to drop me off at the nearest Federation planet, and continue this mission without me.’ says Malcolm. If it isn’t his words, it’s the sad tone in his voice that breaks your heart. 

‘Don’t say that, Malcolm.’ you say. ‘You’re good at your job. Don’t speak about yourself like that, you’re so much more than you think of yourself.’ ‘You think so?’ says Malcolm, still not looking at you. ‘I do.’ you say. 

‘I’m going to bed.’ says Trip, startling you. You almost forgot he was there as well. You nod at him and he steps into his quarters and closes the door, leaving you and Malcolm the only two in the hallway. 

‘You want to go and have a drink in my quarters?’ you say. ‘I’ve got a bottle of some pretty good stuff that I got from one of the new Ensigns.’ ‘No, thanks, I’m good.’ says Malcolm and he begins to walk to the door to his quarters. 

‘Did I do something?’ you blurt out when Malcolm’s opened the doors to his quarters. He stops, one foot in his quarters and the other still in the hallway. You see him hesitate before turning around. 

‘It’s just, I noticed you mess up when I’m on the bridge, and I can’t help but to think it’s my fault and I did something wrong.’ you say.  Malcolm shakes his head at you. ‘You didn’t do anything wrong, Y/N.’ he says. ‘Well then, did I say something that upset you?’ you ask. ‘You didn’t say anything to upset me, you didn’t do anything wrong, and none of this is your fault.’ says Malcolm.

You walk up to him and he finally looks you in the eye. You can see he’s still very upset about what happened earlier on the bridge. ‘What happened to you, Malcolm?’ you say. ‘You’ve changed.’  Malcolm is quiet. You wait for him to answer, as he shows no sign of entering his quarters.

Finally, he speaks up. But his voice is so quiet and he’s looking at the ground again, you don’t hear him. ‘You’ve got to speak up, I can’t hear you.’ you say.  He speaks again, louder this time, so you can hear him. ‘I fell in love.’

‘Malcolm!’ you say, feeling a bit relieved it’s only that, but at the same time you feel like someone punched you in the guts. ‘That’s great!’ ‘No it’s not.’ says Malcolm. ‘She’s distracting me to the point where I can’t even do my job. I’m going to ask for a transfer anyway.’ ‘Well, maybe you need to talk to her about it first, before you make any decisions you might regret.’ you say.  ‘I’m doing that right now.’ he says. ‘Okay, so tell her to, oh-’ in the middle of your sentence you processed what he just said. 

‘Well that’s great.’ you say, failing to hide your smile and blush. ‘How?’ says Malcolm, tilting his head to look at you. ‘It’s only gotten me in trouble.’ ‘Well, we could fix that.’ you say slowly. ‘See, I could offer you that drink again, and we could talk about this and maybe I can persuade you not to transfer ships and-’ you pause and take a breath. ‘And maybe at the end of the evening I could ask if you want to have dinner with me some day and I’d hope you say yes.’ 

Malcolm smiles for the first time in hours. ‘Seriously?’ he says and you nod. ‘Well then, I would like that drink.’ he says and you smile and open the doors to your quarters. Malcolm follows you inside and closes the door behind him as you try to remain calm while getting out some glasses. You were about to have a drink with Malcolm Reed. Finally.

Training - Malcolm Reed

One word request:  Malcolm Reed + Training A/N:  college is stressful as hell but I did find the time to write this, hope you like it! :) Star Trek Tag List: @space-helen @livenerdyandprosper if you want to be added or removed from any tag list, send me an ask!

As soon as your shift ends, you leave the bridge and head straight for your quarters. Most people eat something after their shift, they take a shower or they read a book. Basically they end their day by doing, well, nothing. But not you.

Once you’ve reached your quarters, you immediately change into your workout clothing. You grab a bottle of water and a towel, and head towards the training room. You’re tired of today’s shift, but you like to end your day in the training room.

When you open the door and look around the corner, you smile to yourself. As you had predicted, Malcolm is training. Both you and Malcolm always end your days in the training room. Both for very different reasons, though.

See, Malcolm is actually training. He says it helps him blow off steam, and it helps him to clear his mind. Most of the time, he’s training until his shirt is almost soaked in sweat. 

You, on the other hand, aren’t training nearly as hard as Malcolm. You never sweat because of your training. Because you’re not really training. Malcolm goes to the training room to actually do some training. You go to the training room to watch him train. 

Though he pretends he doesn’t know the reason you’re always in there with him, you suspect he knows perfectly well why you’re there as well. You can tell by the glances he gives you. Once or twice, he’ll even wink or smirk at you. He doesn’t say a word, he never does. He just trains, and when he’s done, he’ll walk out the door, a towel over his shoulders, and always with the same “goodnight Y/L/N”.

Today’s not any different. You walk in the room and are pleased to see it’s empty except for you and Malcolm. He looks over his shoulder when he hears the door opening. You shoot him a smile, which he returns before going back to his training.

You walk to the other side of the room and start your usual warming up. Every now and then, you look over to Malcolm. Once or twice you catch his eye, and you slowly turn away. 

After an hour or so, Malcolm stops training. You frown, as he’s usually training for several hours. You pretend not to notice him as he walks up to you. Malcolm stops in front of you and you innocently look up at him.

‘Calling it a night?’ you say.  ‘Maybe.’ says Malcolm. ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ you say.

Malcolm takes a sip of water and looks you in the eye, taking very long to respond. ‘Well, it really depends.’ he says. ‘On what?’ you say. ‘On you.’ he says and the corners of your mouth curl into a tiny smile. ‘How so?’ you say.

You move to sit down and Malcolm follows your movements, sitting down as well. ‘I know why you’re always in here whenever I am.’ says Malcolm. ‘Yes.’ you say. ‘To train, why else would I be here?’ 

Malcolm raises his eyebrow at you and you fail to suppress a chuckle. ‘Are you going to play innocent? We both know you aren’t here to train.’ says Malcolm. ‘Why else would I be here?’ you say. ‘It’s a great way to end the day, get all the frustration out, clear my mind.’  Malcolm smiles and shakes his head. ‘So you’re telling me, that you’re not here every night because I am here? That you actually end all of your shifts with a workout session?’ he says.

‘I think there’s only one way to find out.’ you say. Malcolm is quiet as he looks at you. He moves closer to you and raises a hand to rest on your cheek. His skin is still sweaty, and a bit sticky, but you don’t mind. 

Malcolm leans in and looks at you, silently asking for permission. You nod and he leans in, pressing his lips against yours. You move closer to Malcolm and wrap your arms around his neck. 

After what feels like forever, Malcolm pulls away and rests his forehead against yours.  ‘Guess my hunch was right, huh?’ he says in a low voice and you bite your lip and nod.

‘Hey, I know another way we can let off some steam.’ you say. ‘Hmm, what’s that?’ says Malcolm. 

You get up and hold out your hand for him. With a smile, you say ‘You’ll have to go to my quarters to find out.’

Malcolm looks up at you before getting up and taking your hand, allowing you to take him with you as you leave the training room.

"You're so pretty," he mutters, looking up at you as you sit on the edge of his bed, stroking his hair.

"And you're so doped up," You chuckle, "What the hell does Fraiser even have you on?"

"I dunno, but it feels goood!" He laughs.

"I bet it does," He tries to swat your hand away when you punch his nose, "Wouldn't want my Danny bear to be in any pain. Do you need me to get you anything?"

"No," He opens his arms and looks at you expectantly, "But I want cuddles. Now, please."

"Well, since you said 'please'," You chuckle, carefully curling against his good side, head resting on his shoulder, "You're lucky you're cute."

"I love you too," His arms wrap around you, holding you there as he starts to doze off.

Requests Are Open

I have now written all but one of the requests that got sent in (and that I had inspiration for). I will be writing the last request hopefully this week.

So, imagines, headcanons, and ships and personal blurbs are now all open. You may now send in more requests, but please read the following guidelines before sending in anything!! Please note that when I get requests sent in, I keep them in my inbox until I write them. If I choose to decline your request, I will post the ask with a brief explanation.

Imagines/headcanons

One-shots, generally 500-1000 words in length. Either character x reader or character x character.

When sending in requests:

Please only send in one request at a time. This means not only to only send in one request per ask, but also please wait until your request has been posted (or the ask posted with an explanation as to why I won’t be writing the request) to send in another

Please don’t send in a request expecting me to write it instantly, or a request that is about something personal happening to you in the moment you send it. Sometime like, “I’m having a really bad day, could you write about x comforting the reader?” These make me feel very guilty and honestly a little annoyed because I cannot write them instantly and most of the time they won’t get written for weeks

Give me a general idea of what you want the imagine to be about (not too vague, please)

Don’t tell me about yourself (like how you look, name, etc.) because I write my imagines as reader-neutral as I can (Y/N is used in replace of a name - this means your name)

Tell me the character or characters you wish to be used for the prompt and unless specified in the prompt, tell me what kind of relationship you wish for the reader and the character to have (siblings, friends, partners, etc.)

Please understand that I have the right to decline your request if it isn’t something I feel inspired to write about or if it’s something I’m uncomfortable writing about

And please remember to be kind and patient with me while I work on the requests. I am but one human who, much to my dismay, does not have constant time, inspiration, and motivation to write

Tell me which series you want me to use. I will only use two at the most, and I won’t do TOS (I’ve only seen a few episodes)

Please be patient with me while I get it done. I am a full-time university student, so I do these when I have time. However, because these are commissioned I will put priority on them
