Whaleback Light, Kittery. In 1886 waves from a powerful storm broke the windows, and water poured into the lighthouse. Keeper Leander White used a blanket to signal for help.

Today on Maine Calling (Maine Public Radio at 11am), a special on Maine's Lighthouses! And tonight (Sept 4th) at 8:00 on Maine Public Television, the premier episode of, Safe Harbors: Lighthouses of Maine. Yay!

what’s the least autistic way to say I’m creating a timeline of events in peaky blinders alongside sic em plot points to keep my story lore accurate while being able to subtly acknowledge changes in fashion, technology, and culture over time with major history events serving as landmarks. and that there are several end dates of seasons that are up in the air so I had to do timeline math based on 1920s fashion trends, weather/foliage patterns, and referenced historical events to be able to estimate when the show canon is displayed onscreen vs when things can afford to get a little loosey-goosey in the ludicrously long time skips. like what’s the least autistic way of saying that

#barking #plot twist there is none and I’ve been doing this for 3 hours straight and only just finished the pb seasons timeline #literally zero plot landmarks have been documented #nor historical events #I promise this is so incredibly necessary bc I keep forgetting when different things happen #and considering one of my main characters is a pregnant woman I do have to know how many months pass between events #thank god the majority of the beginning is set in between s2 and s3 #but I also need to know things like. how old is Charlie. how old is anyone #how can I make it so that kids aren’t born at the same time like some sort of freakish omen

Recent game related things .. hrmm...

#I do like the inconsistency of the first map. that is actually something older but that I re-found and added to my Game Reference stuff #so that when characters reference where they're from I can be accurate. I like that the whole map is kind of shifted up that way. Where the #actual south part doesnt even count as the south since its Too Far and Scary lol. and if you say you're from 'the north' thats basically #like.. one single continent. Though some people do make distinctions like 'north midlands' or etc. still. I like the ways that common #language isn't always precisely accurate like that. and thinking about why a culture would classify things a certain way or etc. etc.#The inventory page is so funny to me because it's literally just the BASe like.. sample layout just to make sure it works properly with 0 #actual design into it. just colored rectangles thrown together in MS paint. but what if I like... left it like that.. what if all the other #art in the game and UI is like stylized and fully matching BUT the inventory/journal/etc. screens I just left as plain colored blocks #with random misalignments and black spots and etc gjhbhjj... It looks unfinished in a Funny Contrast way to me.#the wordcounts are just like... my past few days of writing.. I am still not getting 2200 words a day done or whatever I needed. I'm lucky #if it's even half of that .... tee hee.. :3c I do also keep having appointments and other things going on but..grrr...#The full map of the area is probably not necessary but I thought it would be more realisitc if people were able to reference things. Like i #you have people all living in a city area probably at some point someone might mention a neighboring city or some landmark nearby #or etc. so I thought having at least the basic names of what's around for reference would be sensible. A side character mentioning #'oh yeah I don't live here full time I just travel from Marisene sometimes' or whatever makes it seem more like a Real #Fleshed Out Place than people just making vague references like 'the river' or 'i come from a city nearby' or 'i went to a place somewhere #around here' or 'the other city' or etc. lol.. Especially since global cities/global areas are weird as they operate almost like an #independent country within their walls. so it's like a micro country inside of another country usually. just plopped down in some agreed #upon plot of land that won't be too disruptive to the main country around it. That could get very complex depending on the cultural and #political backdrop of where they're placed (though obviously they try to choose the 'easiest' areas possible for it). Asen is a very mild #country without much history of conflict or anything so it's fine. But still interesting that Sifeh and the entire branched out global area #border three other districts of Asen. Which means like 3 times the local representitives you'l have to negotiate with for some major change #or anything. I think one of the 'random characters you can find around the world and have short discussions with just to make the area #feel more populated and real even though theyre not actual important npcs' is going to be a guy who actually serves on the council that #handles running the global areas and he's like.. some perpetually exhausted middle aged elf running around with a clipboard or whatever #ANYWAY...... hrgh... still trying to write when I can....#I WISH so badly that I had the scope for a simple character creation menu and all character interactions would allot for the background #of your player character. And also to have a simple day night cycle where places in the world you explore/people you talk to during the day #have new options or dialogue at night.. BUT alas... I already am so behind on everything as is lol.. aughhh... T o T #As the worlds number one Needless Detail And Complexity Enjoyer i must dilligently prevent myself from adding additional complexity

Hi! Love your posts !! Suggestion for a fact (if you take those): Eurocat. The 1990 Eurovision featured an animated purple cat in the postcards (?) named Eurocat and I’ve never seen anyone mention anything about his existence. I only learned about him bc I was researching old shows and saw him mentioned on the Wikipedia page. 10/10

Eurovision Fact #477:

Eurocat was the mascot created for the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest in Zagreb. He appeared at the beginning of each postcard in an animated short that featured a blue background with the name of the country repeating on a diagonal and some cultural representation of the country being showcased that Eurocat would interact with.

For example, on the postcard for Spain, Eurocat blew bubbles that formed the Olympic rings, calling to the fact that Spain would host the Summer Games in two years.

Eurocat was created by Joško Marušić, who is credited for his as a member of the directors of the per-production materials for the contest for animation.

While introducing Belgium, commentator Terry Wogan spoke a bit about the mascot saying, "Eurocat! A tomcat who's slightly neurotic, not too silly, and eminently lovable." He also later said while introducing Luxembourg that he was "trying to ignore this cat," adding "I don't think he's gonna go away though," under his breath.

so funny to me that I literally had a dream last night that they were forced to solve dnd puzzles in an illusory town while connected by a magical tether keeping them within each other's line of sight,

and they could Not agree about how to solve them which ended up making it harder for both of them KJFHDSKJF

i don't think i ever established this in memoryshipping lore yet but - during the phase where stevaide are in the platonic stage - jaide falls first due to his gentlemanly upbringing (which heavily contrasts his younger self's behavior) and feeds her with generosity and kind gestures like "after you" "watch your step" or any way to show consideration. jaide grew up learning to be independent so she wasn't used to being treated delicately

and since steven willingly allowed himself to be a friend and "tour guide" around hoenn - naturally he'd put himself first in danger or any interference to make sure she feels comfortable in this foreign region and this is already something she wasn't used to - but was slowly growing into it :]

during her pining stages - she'd try to decline his generosity out of embarassment and this would leave mixed signals on steven's end ("did I do something wrong?") and usually this plays off comedically where jaide has no idea how to manage herself next to him. she's supposed to be the character with a strong mental fortitude but after being shown some sweetness - she's crumbling from it... hehe

#♥️ memoryshipping #the next thing for me to figure out is how does he like her in return and how do they finally settle etc etc hehe #steven's main purpose initally was to be her friend and he thought it would stay like that until... well ... more things happened!#i wanna apply more of hoenn's world building into their lore but i cant actually remember certain landmarks so i need to replay oras/emeral #to jog my memory there #the way jaide manages herself next to steven would be like how whitley tries to not think of blake romantically due to that dream #and also a projection of my personal experiences 💚

it's crazy seeing the vastness of differences of opinion on media anyway i think trw had some of the most stressful final combats to watch because i don't particularly care about the food world surviving. i know the food world survives. i care about these morally corrupt food people that are trying to someway somehow right wrongs that they had a hand in creating

as a non-american the fact that zillow exists absolutely blows my mind. like, not only can you easily find out how much a random person's house is worth, which is creepy enough, but you can easily find photos from old listings, even whole floor plans? the price history??? that stuff is just. out there for the whole world to see lmao it's incredible.

#&#also the fact that they're listed under the full address #like #you can just put someones address into zillow and bam #i think thats rare over here #they usually describe the location in the ad #maybe mention a main street nearby or local landmarks like a park or whatever #but #in my experience its rare to get the street and house number #unless you schedule a viewing #so even when you look up old listings online #its not as easy as simply googling an address #idk #zillow creeps #me out #im not complaining though #looking at american houses is one of my favorite hobbies lmaoooo

(this is pure self indulgence)

- sora appearance. please. he is SO important to both natsume and tsumugi and i don’t think this story should go without him at least being mentioned

- EICHI AND NATSUME INTERACTION. their dynamic is fascinating to me and this natsume who has decided he no longer wants to linger in the past would deepen that i think bc i’m rlly curious as to how that’s going to play out

- in the same vein, natsumugi interaction! we haven’t gotten them since before the graduation story i think so idk if their dynamic has changed at all (even if only a bit)

- NATSUMUGI LANDMARK MOMENT. we got pleiades night, wonder game, and next door, LET THIS ONE BE THE NEXT ONE.

- some sort of sappiness between natsume + the eccentrics.

- not story related BUT. i really really hope natsume is the twilight pentagram center. he is the heart of that group twilight pentagram is for him he deserves to be the center. also idk if temp units have leaders but if they do..... natsume should be the one for altered

- tsumugi healing. tsumugi HEALING. coming back to the people who were a part of a very dark part of tsumugi’s life and being okay!!!! maybe even good!!!!!!! PLEASE.

- ok also if sora does appear i kinda want him to be conflicted on like. who to cheer for. bc both tsumugi and natsume mean so much to him (the same amount!) and as far as i’m aware he doesn’t know anything about the war so LET HIM BE CONFLICTED!!!!!!
