ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात्॥
In English-

Considered to be the most powerful Mantra of Lord Shiva, Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, also known as Tryambakam Mantra, is a verse from Rigveda. Addressed to Lord Shiva the three-eyed God, Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is believed to bestow longevity and immortality, prevent calamities & accidents and ward off untimely death. Mahamrityunjaya mantra ka Jaap with full devotion, faith, pure heart, dedication and perseverance over a period of time, leads to victory over the fear of death. It also leads to victory over the cycle of birth and death leading to Moksha.

Origin of Maha mrityunjaya Mantra
Rishi Markandeya was the only person who knew about the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. He gave it to Sati, the daughter of Daksha, to help Moon who was in trouble due to the curse by Daksha. It is also believed that the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra was given by Lord Shiva to Sage Shukracharya who later passed on it to Rishi Dadhici, who further passed it on to King Kshuva, through whom it was added in Shiva Purana.
