So in bhagavat purana gopis describes Krishna to be as charming as an actor
Which makes me think about Krishna being a very popular actor in the modern au! like he would be so popular worldwide for his talent and beauty! Bro would probably be a model too and be getting the title of "The Most Handsome Man" etc etc

"RELATABILITY" of Mahabharat
Okay, so I was watching the round table conference of ten years of Star Plus Mahabharat, and was really happy to see all the casts together, discussing avidly about Mahabharat and telling about their experiences.
But the thing is, of course I know there are several inaccuracies in the serial, and a few things the actors and Siddharth Kumar Tewary ( the maker of SP Mb ) were discussing did not even happen in the real texts, and were a figment of imagination or lores which they had put. For example, SKT was talking about the compulsion Gandhari was in while tying the cloth around her eyes, and how directly or indirectly, there was a subtle force used by Bhishm to persuade Subal, and Shakuni's displeasure in SP Mb hints it; when in the real texts there was no dramatization of the marriage of Dhritarashtra and Gandhari; it happens like any marriage and he was happy with her. Also Gandhari being a Tapasvini that time, being sightless by choosing for herself was a part of her penance for her husband, and it wasn't as a big deal as we think is for her. She did it willingly, but the way the TV serial shows it tells some other story.
This makes me think about how we often try to put consciousnessly or subconsciously the characters of Mahabharat in OUR feet and then analyze them. Our mind, whenever we read about an event, chooses to put the characters in OUR shoes and then judge them. You think that O my God, if this character was like us, how would she/he would react? No wait, that character cannot do such a great task or have so much power, she/he must've some greyness in their character or something derogatory. Or we often choose to mould them to OUR style of thinking, morality and actions.
AND THIS IS STRICTLY HOW YOU SHOULDN'T BE READING MAHABHARAT OR ANALYZING IT.
Keeping a character in your world, your foot doesn't work. In that manner, those characters in your mind will be reduced to what they actually were, just because YOU think that what they're doing cannot happen like that- NO.
Rather, I feel like YOU should be the one putting YOURSELF in their feet and then imagine what you would've done in the situation. And that means you must be aware of THEIR POWERS, THEIR LIMITATIONS, THEIR MORALITY AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT AND THE SURROUNDING, THE SITUATION THEY ARE IN. That also includes their supernatural abilities, and their Kshatriya mindset or mindset of any other Varna they belong to.
For example, let's discuss the episode of Parshuram and Karna. People often badmouth Parshuram for cursing Karn, because all he wanted is to acquire knowledge. You think if Parshuram was like us, in this environment like us he would've forgave him, or SHOULD have. It is NOT A BIG DEAL to lie to a Brahmin.
Now think YOURSELF in Parshuram's feet, you're a divine sage with supreme powers and a strict Brahmin. You do not entertain nonsense or lies, like a Brahmin should actually be. You're focused, you have limitations of a Brahmin and you have that environment as well. You experience a past like him. Now imagine someone comes and lies to you about his caste so as to earn the knowledge easily, without any more tests. Your happy that Karna is a Brahmin, YOU trust him with all your heart, YOU make him a student of you, and teach him all the knowledge you have, and EVEN GIVE HIM YOUR WEAPONS. And now this guy is caught as a non Brahmin, that too it was never his intention to reveal that who he actually was. How would you feel being a Guru? A true Brahmin? How will you feel that you trusted someone who had no intentions ever to be true to you? You had been true to him, being devoted as a Guru to him, gave him all your weapons, thought that he was genuine and then you find out that he isn't who he is portraying. AND YES, IN THOSE DAYS IT WAS A BIG DEAL TO LIE TO A BRAHMIN-
Don't sugarcoat, how would YOU feel?
Won't you feel cheated, heartbroken? Won't you feel angry? And you know what Brahmins do in anger don't you? They're simple, they are peace loving mostly, but when they're displeased, cheated or anger, their curse is the only thing they can give to vent it out. So wouldn't you have cursed him at that moment?
See? Now how things fit into the narrative once you stop putting them in your feet and put yourself in theirs?
This is why one of the major drawbacks was the characterization of a few characters in Mahabharat by Star Plus. The maker tried to fit the characters in OUR feet, dragging down their morality/behavior/technique to our level at times. This is where we're rendered of the actuality of the sequences. And we be we are pleased seeing the characters react like us in a situation, sometimes pettily ( Like Draupadi shouting at the Sabha, typically throwing her chudamani away with those dramatic effects, she getting rejected by Drupad because he was shown misogynistic at first and sadness, Gandhari being girly and afraid of darkness) yes all these seem very pleasing to watch because these behavior are like US.
But the reality is different. And I understand because I am reading the authentic texts, the scenario and scenery are so different, each character acts and reacts as per their Varna, powers and duty.
And here comes the question then, IS MAHABHARAT then RELATABLE to today's world then? If we cannot keep the characters in our feet, then how can be?
Let me say something instead, even if the scenarios are different, the characters in their scenarios do ACT accordingly. Yes, they were humans too, not everything is entirely different. Their morality, their duty was according to THEIR DHARMA, and the point is how THEY MANAGED THE SCENARIOS WITH THEIR MORALITY, POWER ETC. IN THEIR SCALE OF DHARMA. Once you understand the things that how they balanced things in their scenarios versus us, the question of Mahabharat being relatable disappears. The major concepts like Dharma, Artha, Kaama, Moksha were valid then and it is now as well, just the background and scenarios are different and also the limitations. Concepts of science, technology was different in the two yugas but the thought of using the resources to make them useful is same like we think about, isn't it? Also major elements like planning, judgment, punishment, crime, forgiveness is also applicable in today's world.
So basically one must thing about their POINT OF VIEW AND SURROUNDING and then make a better judgment of their duties and choices, rather than dragging them to our scale and try to make everything RELATABLE just because you want reach.
Trust me, Mahabharat itself is a huge drama. It's enjoyed when it's consumed at the rawest without unnecessary drama. Mahabharat itself is drama heavy, you do not need unnecessary plots, angst, side story etc to make it emotionally heavy, because trust me one cannot actually match how emotionally heavy the real Mahabharat actually is.
Come on, after all Mahabharat entirely is a blend of all Rasas, it's bound to drive you emotionally.

Genre, Elements of Storytelling, and Media Principles
Genre
Genre is a treatment to a story for a particular audience. Genre shapes the story for the audience that how it going to appeal to their specific taste and expectation.
We have mainly three type of genre:
Mainstream genre
Sub-genre
Hybrid genre
Mainstream genre is an all the normal genre, which we know such as comedy, horror, action etc. These are the mainstream genre.
Tumblr media
However, sub-genre is also a genre, but it is genre under genre. Example space horror. Here space is sci-fi, and horror is under in it.
Tumblr media
Lastly, hybrid genre is mix of different genre.
Elements of storytelling
If we look at any story in the movies or series, it is based on three things Information, conflict, and destiny. Which is known as the Element of Storytelling. If we look at each of these, it is quite simple to understand.
Elements
Information is all about the details or information about our main character and setting. It can be what the protagonist does in his regular life, family, and things going on in the film.
Tumblr media
Conflict
In most of the stories, there must be some obstacles in the hero's life, which affect his lifestyle in terms of relationships, work, etc. The obstacle can be an antagonist or any other thing that makes the hero struggle. This can be his past, lifestyle conditions like being poor, etc. This is known as the conflict of the story.
Tumblr media
Destiny
Lastly, destiny is all about where the story ends. It could have a happy ending or a sad one. Everything is in the writer's hand and his or her creativity. It all, in the end, is the condition of the actors or the situation.

Principle of storytelling
Now if we look at the principle of storytelling. It is all about the things around which the story involves. There are mainly ten principles.
Object: Story is fully based on the object based. Avengers: Infinity War revolves around Infinity Stone. Therefore, it is good example of object based.
Tumblr media
Place: In this movie is totally revolve around a place. For example, Manjuman Boys. The movie, which revolve around the place called The Guna Caves. Where One of the friends falls and then whole movie shows their struggle of taking out the one friend. It is real based movie.
Tumblr media
Conversation: Movie of series is mostly based on the conversation. For Example, Gullak, the series which revolves around everyday life of middle-class family. This series is known for its simplicity, heartwarming and humorous conversation between family.
Tumblr media
Nostalgia: In this the movie or series is based on Nostalgia. Where we go in past, and kind relate with it. One of the examples of this kind of movie is 96 of Vijay Sethupati. This movie is about a school love story, and separation. Where The hero and heroine meet after a long time, and we go in past and see all the misunderstanding of their and love between them. It has multiple flashback, which evoke the feeling of first love.
Tumblr media

Rumor: In this movie are based on rumors. Where movies are based on misunderstanding and half-truth. One of the good examples of it is Hera Pheri. In this the character used to jump to conclusion, after listening half-truth. Which lead to multiple humorous situations.
Tumblr media
History (Myth/ Religion): In this the movies are based on past which revolves around myth or religion. One of the examples of it is Mahabharat, where it is fully based on the Hinduism.
Tumblr media
Source: Youtube Video
Backstory: The is story, which has some past story, which has changed the current situation. It is mostly, when we see hero in certain manner and, some side character or narration, takes us in his past and reveal his story. Sanju, the story of Sanjay Dutt, an Indian actor. His role was played by Ranbir Kapoor. This movie is a Biography. In this we look at the past of Sanjay Dutt, his struggled and mistakes he has made in his past.
Tumblr media
Calamity: Calamity is all about a movie which revolve around climate or natural disaster. The scene and everything take place based on the climate. One of example is Sharknado, which is based on an absurd natural disaster, a massive tornado filled with Sharks. They all fall on the city and eat people.
Tumblr media
News: This is the one, where we create real story in form of movie or series. It is basically a real based film, which create impact on people in larger scale. It is mostly to help people to understand what is going on in the world or happened. Kashmir files is one of the examples of this principle.
Tumblr media
Blending: This is the one, where most of the principle is being used. It's like all rounded. It can have object, place, calamity or other principle of storytelling mentioned above in it. It's mixer of the principle of storytelling. One of the examples is titanic. It is real based story, where it has conversation and object, which is titanic itself. If we go deep, we will find much more principle in it. These are the few, which can easily be spotted.

One thing I haven't seen discussed that I'd love to get your thoughts on is the other side of the coaches' discussion on how to fit Zava into the lineup. The focus tends to be on the general dismissiveness of Jamie, which is pretty rude when he has legitimate concerns, and that makes sense to me, given the coaches' original plan very much did not pan out, but I find the "we'll move back Dani because he'll take it better" kind of troubling? As a brown woman in tech, I am super sensitive to stuff like this - I have to be accommodating so as to not appear "difficult", but doing so enables people to continue to ask me to do the least desirable or relevant tasks. Dani is a striker! There's a case to be made he's better than Jamie. But this bit made it seem like Dani was being punished for his greatest strength.
(Hello, first ask I've ever received! I feel initiated into some kind of tumblr levelled up community :p)
So yeah, as I said in this post, Dani has been poorly treated by his coaches. First of all, making a decision based on who is going to act out more is just encouraging people to act out since their tantrums get accommodated for. It's a bad strategy when teaching pre-schoolers and its a stupid way to coach actual adults. And yes blah blah it does Jamie a disservice because he is demonstrating maturity, but it does Dani a real wrong because it prioritises his emotional nature off the field over his talent on it.
The show and the fandom consistently treat Dani like a childlike, happy-go-lucky 'raven haired golden retriever' and I've enjoyed the wide-eyed enthusiasm Cristo injects to the role as much as anyone. The show is a comedy, after all, and all the actors get to ham it up a little bit, as a treat.
But is Dani's affable nature his greatest strength? Or is it his passion for football, which drives him to subsume any negative emotion that might interfere with his learning? He ignores Jamie's rudeness and sets out immediately to build a bond enough to train with him, because he knows who the best player in his new team is, and he wants to push himself. When his hero Zava joins the team, he turns himself into a sponge - sure, its funny in the dressing room, but what skills is he teaching himself on the field? His coaches don't notice, aren't encouraging him, aren't suggesting Zava take him under his wing. Roy offers extra training to Jamie because of an emotional connection he feels with Jamie's discontent. But why didn't Roy push Jamie and Dani more beforehand, if they were capable of being better? (And do it on the record, so he could be paid for it? Unpaid labour as emotional favours is a theme in this show.) Why does a hunger to improve seem visible in a white player who demands to be coached and pushes for change, but is invisible in a brown player who gently and politely as the grass roots himself into the richest source of information and education?
So one of the (many) depressing stories from the Mahabharat is that of Ekalavya. Talented archer who wanted to learn from the best, so he went to Drona, who was coaching the royal princes the Pandavs and the Kauravs. Humbly asked for permission to learn, was rudely refused because Drona was a casteist Brahmin who only taught Kshatriya royalty and Ekalavya was from an oppressed tribal caste.
Ekalavya meekly went away, built a statue of Drona, treated it as his guru and practised in front of it every day, and became the best archer in the world. Better than Arjun, the teacher's pet. So of course when Drona found out, he went and demanded a gurudakshina - a teacher's fee. Ekalavya said, sure, whatever you want, and Drona asked for his right thumb.
Oh. Ekalavya said. Ok, Ekalavya said. And he cut off his archer's thumb with his own arrow, and laid it before his teacher's feet, so that Drona could now reassure Arjun that he was now the best archer in the world, because why build someone up when you can tear someone else down.
And then Ekalavya went back to the forest and learned (taught himself, again, as always) how to shoot with his left hand. Some of the people wronged by Drona and the Pandavas got their revenge in the Mahabharat battle, but there is no mention of Ekalavya there.
Ekalavya was from a skilled tribe of hunters. For him, archery was life.

Tribute 851.
Tribute to Director, Writer and ProducerB.R.Chopra 851
Today, I am going to pen a tribute to another memorable writer, producer, and director of Bollywood — none other than the late B.R. Chopra of B.R. Films. Known for his immense respect and image in the film fraternity, B.R. Chopra produced many iconic films and gave the world the unforgettable TV serial Mahabharat. He directed several remarkable films, each marked by his unique directorial touch. The films I have seen and truly appreciated include Daastan, Pati, Patni Aur Woh, Kanoon, Dhund, Humraz, and Karm. These films were all notable, and each showcased his mastery.
In Daastan, the legendary Dilip Kumar's performance played a significant role in its success. Kanoon was another masterpiece from this director. Pati, Patni Aur Woh was another successful venture, which starred the talented Sanjeev Kumar. Playback singer Mahendra Kapoor's association with his films added an unforgettable musical charm. B.R. Chopra worked with wonderful technicians in his unit, including his cinematographer brother, Dharm Chopra, and his director brother, Yash Chopra.
His serial Mahabharat made a landmark impact on Indian television, and it is not an exaggeration to say it changed the small-screen industry. The late Rahi Masoom Raza's contribution as the dialogue writer for the serial was invaluable. Mahabharat also gave Bollywood some memorable actors, including Mukesh Khanna, Punit Isar, and more.
B.R. Chopra produced many successful films, including Waqt, Dhul Ka Phool, and Chandni Chowk. Baghban is another testament to his storytelling genius. The three Chopra brothers — B.R. Chopra, Yash Chopra, and Dharm Chopra — dominated the B.R. Films banner and left a lasting impact on Indian cinema.
B.R. Chopra was awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian cinema, for his contributions. Even though he is no longer with us, the B.R. Films banner continues to fly high on the Bollywood map. Today, I am happy to pay tribute to this legendary director
