So eto na nga, after exam sa LITE, nag-decide kami na pumunta ng SM Val para samahan ako for eye check-up then ayon na sumakay na kami e-jeep tapos te 😭 MAY POGI 😖 eh tangina kasi ni Carl di umusog sa dulo agad, tumayo lang sya so yung bakanteng upuan na nasa harapan ko yung inupuan ko. Tapos ayon nga, nakatabi ni Queenie tangina ang swerte HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH tapos di ko talaga maiwasang di mapatingin sa side nila, katapat na upuan sila tapos dulo tapos ayon ilang beses kami nagkaka-eye contact bhie kasi nga napapalingon ako sa gawi nila Queenie tapos eto pa, nung nasa Dambana na kami, may mga sumakay tapos may space pa sa upuan nila Queenie banda tapos sabi ni kuya singkit "dito po" tapos umusog sya sa tabi ni Queenie, pakshet sana all!! Hey! What would you keep in your bag for post-apocalyptic emergencies? As part of your everyday life?

I keep a pretty extensive emergency stash in my truck in case I'm ever stranded or if I encounter someone in need. pets or kids or disability needs might change this list but here's a start:

tools: big knife or machete, pocket knife, multitool such as a Leatherman, duct tape, rope, sewing kit w/ safety pins, a couple firestarting methods, rags and towels, vehicle-specific stuff like jumper cables, mag lite and batteries, CASH (set aside spare change and singles for an emergency stash)

sustenance: a couple dehydrated meal packs, gallon of water and a way to filter more, electrolyte tabs, instant coffee, small backpacking stove w/ gas & mess kit

medical: first aid kit (i buy mine here), Vetericyn hydrogel (veterinary antimicrobial spray but it's human safe and works better than Neosporin et al), tampons/pads, sunscreen, bug spray

shelter: a small cheap sleeping bag and Thermarest sleeping pad, blankets (used as seat covers), contractor trash bags (they're sturdy and multipurpose, have used as tarps and rain ponchos before)

signaling/orientation: compass, whistle, signal flares, brightly colored surveyor's tape, US road atlas and a few local maps, an expired copy of my drivers' license so I can be ID'd if lost

most of this stuff fits in a small backpack which I keep in the storage space under my back seat. if you have a car i really recommend building a kit like this. i've been stuck in blizzards or behind washed-out roads before and I can wait it out pretty comfortably. i've given away things like cash, tampons, food and water etc to people I've come across... even the sleeping bag once. that's the biggest value of this to me and by far the most utility I've gotten out of it, so I try to be frugal gearwise and buy things i can easily replace.

in terms of every day carry, like if I'm going out in the woods and have a backpack, I'm carrying the multitool and duct tape and firestarter and a stripped-down first aid kit, a knife on my belt, extra layers of clothes and/or rain jacket, high energy foods and lots of water. i know guns aren't everyone's bag but I do carry a .38 from time to time.

Abitavamo a Roma, in un piccolissimo appartamento. C’era un piano verticale, c’erano le finestre aperte e si annunciò un temporale. Il vento fece volare via tutti i fogli e lui iniziò, quasi come uno sciamano, a ripetere volare oh oh... Ahimè ho perso la registrazione, non trovo più la casetta».

Nel 1958 la portò al Festival di Sanremo e vinse...

«L’avevano rifiutata in tanti e decise andare lui, primo cantautore della storia».

Il gesto delle braccia allargate è diventato simbolo della canzone italiana...

«Era voluto, aveva curato la messinscena. Non gli piaceva l’idea che andava allora del cantante fermo davanti al microfono, quello che prima di iniziare si schiarisce la voce con un colpetto di tosse. All’inizio le braccia aperte furono un problema per i cameramen non abituati... Quando vinse i giornalisti impazzirono: era la fine dell’epoca dei cantanti alla Claudio Villa. Lo presero in braccio e lo portarono in giro per tutto il casinò».

A proposito di Claudio Villa. Era rivalità vera?

«Erano amici, soprattutto dopo la malattia... Mimmo rimproverava a Claudio uno stile di vita troppo giovanile...».

Gli altri amici?

«Con Franco Migliacci erano una grande coppia, avevano passione in comune per l’arte moderna, in viaggio si portavano album su cui disegnare. Oltre a lui Riccardo Pazzaglia e Sergio Modugno. Per un periodo abbiamo frequentato Eugenio Montale che ci invitava a cena e cantava l’opera.

È stato amico anche di Ennio Morricone che volle per gli arrangiamenti di Rinaldo in campo . Frequentava Renato Guttuso di cui regalava disegni agli amici. Coi cantanti si trovava meno bene: non si reputava uno di loro. E i cantautori arrivarono con la generazione successiva».

Dopo «Volare» non ritrovò più lo stesso successo mondiale...

«Non gli piaceva lo stile di vita americano... Era con la William Morris, l’agenzia di Marilyn. Non gli andava che a Las Vegas durante i concerti la gente mangiasse: ruppe il contratto e tornò in Italia. Migliacci diceva che aveva Hollywood ai piedi ma che l’aveva presa a calci».

Esce oggi «Come un sogno di mezza estate», doppio album con le sue canzoni più famose e degli inediti in spagnolo. La sua preferita?

«Sono legata a quelle degli esordi in dialetto salentino. Mimmo recitò nel ruolo di un militare siciliano in Carica eroica di De Robertis grazie a una raccomandazione di Vittorio De Sica. Cantava “Ninna nanna”, un brano salentino che tutti pensavano in dialetto siciliano e che divenne poi sigla di Amuri amuri programma radio del 1953 cui partecipai anch’io.

Lo registravamo da soli in studio a Roma, fu romanticissimo. “Strada ‘nfosa” è il brano che preferisco, parla di un addio. Per un periodo ci siamo anche lasciati... È stato un dongiovanni anche dopo il matrimonio. Noi donne all’epoca abbozzavamo, non c’era il divorzio».

Litigavate?

«Tutta la vita. E quando succedeva fuggivo al mare coi suoi amici: Mauro Bolognini e Luchino Visconti. Lui rimediava con il suo sense of humour . Ero in attesa di Marcello, sparì per tre mesi all’inseguimento di una celeberrima donna. Quando tornò disse: “Pensa a cosa avrebbe detto mio padre: mio figlio con una nobile”».

«Ho vissuto la sua malattia con grande tenerezza e gli ho perdonato tutti i tradimenti.

Min mage gör inte alltid som jag vill, sen att jag inte lärt mig någonting är en annan sak! Igår var jag på tävling i Malmö, glömde bort vad som hände förra gången jag köpt en macka där!
