Right wingers are doing right wingers things again. I went to a protest and took my self painted sign which says "Marzipan statt Naziwahn" [Marzipan instead of nazi mania].
I already knew from previous protests that people love my sign. And so it was today. Many smiles, laughes and bright eyes in awe as they were staring at the painted cardboard. But there was this old man who really struck a chord with me. He clearly was very moved by my sign. I could feel his emotions being all too much in his heart. He came up to me and told me how fantastic he found my sign. I thanked him happily. A little later he came back in a hurry, as if he was afraid I would fade. Or get lost in the crowd of people at the protest. And what happened next melted my heart. He reached inside his pocket and handed me a "Marzipanbrot", which is basically a bar of marzipan coated with dark chocolate. I didn't believe him at first but he meant it. Suddenly, his eyes were kinda red and watery. And that was the moment when I understood how moved he was by my sign and the power of its words. His kindness made my day. The hope in his eyes made my day.
There are good people here. They exist. Don't let the cruelness blind you <3

I've been struggling a bit watching Double Parked
It's embarrassment comedy, so I always want to hide my face while watching.
The writing isn't always tight enough.
The characters ended last season in a bad place, and have been struggling to reconnect while caring for newborns.
But this scene, where Danielle Cormack dances with Madeleine Sami and Antonia Prebble, and that allows Nat and Steph to reconnect while Edie lets herself out the door being all "my work here is done"? That was perfect, no notes. They could have done much worse things with the storyline and instead we got this. Made my day.

New oc idea inspired by the multi dimensional nature of the tourney:
An oc that has the ability to travel from au to au and has a big journal of all the laws and rules of all the universes they visit. This is not weird to them, they’ve gotten very good at going with the flow and rolling with the punches and accepting some universes are weird as hell. A mild conspiracy theorist they’ve started noticing some characters are ‘canon’ to every timeline.
So I created this funny orb. I thought it would be cool to make xem a NZ, because NZ canonically has the ability to walk through walls. So this one? This one can walk through dimensional walls, if xey can find the spots where the walls are thinnest.
For attacks xey are a defensive attacker, using the soles of xeir shoes xey can shuffle and dance around to charge up magical attacks that can form barriers and manipulate time. These barriers can be launched like frisbees as projectiles or used to deflect attacks back at opponents or block attacks. Xe can also catch attacks with xeir feet and slow them down with the time magic, before speeding them up to launch them back at opponents.
Going by one of three names, this funky traveler of the multiverse often acts clueless and stupid around others and seems to only want to have a good time.

thinking about nz gothic again. like there for sure is something there & there ample material for it but every tv sjow to ever come out of this country was comedy or dark comedy or a cop show or fuckinh. country calender. i should write one. i feel like we need actual good aotearoa cult television. there's so much potential for using this landscape & the history without making it cringe or having to lean so far into it being New Zealand like. a lot of māori folklore & myth is quite cool combined with settler stories. combined with rural decay. combined with the fact that yeah it might not be that big but you could wander off the trail & never be found just as well here as you can anywhere else. combined with recorded & pretty recent megafauna (haast eagle anyone? moa?). combined with old mines. combined with mountains & forests & plains & lakes. like there so so much here there's potential to do it well

I think it's weird that as a culture we just stole the word mana from the Māori/Polynesian language(s) to use in video games because it's kinda magic in a way if you understand nothing about the culture youre taking from and white dudes from Ohio still debate the pronunciation like it isn't a real word.
MAH-nah.
The Māori vowels are
A = ah (as in are)
E = eh (as in there)
I = ee (as in three)
O = aw (as in or)
U = oo (as in two)
You will often see a macron (ā, ē, ī, ō, ū) which just denotes that it's a long vowel sound instead of a short one.
The constinants are fairly easy, there are just a few things to keep in mind like "wh" is a "f" sound similar to the "ph" in "phone" and that "nga" makes a "nah" sound similar to the "nah" in "yeah, nah...yeah."
Additionally, te reo Māori is a very nasal heavy language and uses soft rolled R's more along the lines of French rather than Spanish if that helps.
Te reo Māori was once an exclusively oral language. It wasn't until the Dutch, French, American, and English "settlers" arrived in the 19th century that white people tried to write it down. It is also an endangered language that we need to work to keep alive, especially when the New Zealand government is actively trying to destroy it.
You Americans and Europeans wrote this language down. The least you could do is learn to read it.
