Apparently updating can cause a boot loop issue if you install on an APFS volume with FileVault enabled.

Today’s update comes with a few overall browser changes, and a lengthy list of Web Inspector updates. That was only temporary, starting with release 128 it supports it again. The full release notes for Safari Technology Preview Release 27 can be seen below: Browser Changes Added a. Added support for the RTF editor to allow users to preview notification message content and style. I never really took much note of the theme-color meta tag, but now is a good time to learn about its features and limitations and try to discover some interesting use cases. The preview browser is specifically designed for developers to get an upcoming look at the new web technologies macOS and iOS will eventually receive. Developers already on the latest release can download the update from the Mac App Store. Mac keyfinder how to#
Mac keyfinder serial number#
Mac keyfinder install#
Mac keyfinder upgrade#
Mac keyfinder full#
I've seen this happen with Adobe apps in particular in both these situations.
Mac keyfinder upgrade#
An operating system upgrade can cause this, as can restoring your system from a Time Machine backup. Programs can themselves lose track of their registration information when something dramatic happens to the system on which it's installed. Still, if he can improve the software so that it's more reliable, and make a bigger point in the promo blurb at the top of this page of directing potential customers to the supported products page, it may eventually be an important tool for people with large investments in software. It might have saved him some of the flack he's getting here it the app had been more thoroughly tested. Perhaps, though, he could have used more beta testers to root out problems. One would have to have made a serious study of the subject even before building an app to utilize what you learned.
Mac keyfinder how to#
Personally I can only imagine the work involved in figuring out how to find serial numbers for all the apps listed. That's not to say you shouldn't post here as well, but if you actually want a solution to your problem, working with the developer is the only route to take. If you have an issue, I suggest you communicate with the developer privately so that he will have a chance to figure out what's not working.
Mac keyfinder serial number#
If Mac Product Key Finder Pro cannot find the serial number for any of the listed apps that you have installed, then you have something to complain about. Before paying for the Pro version, or even the free version, you should visit the developer's web site and review the list of supported apps (). That said, I think it's easy for people to have elevated expectations for what an app like this can do. So I don't need Mac Product Key Finder Pro.
Prices do not necessarily include taxes, which will vary by country.I haven't tried this app, primarily because I have collected most of my serial numbers manually.
BitsDuJour downloads use a discount coupon code that comes direct from the software vendor, so you'll always get the latest version of the software app sold under the same terms as a regular sale, just at a great promotional price.
You will be given instructions on how to enter the discount coupon code when you click the 'Buy Now' button.
Support is provided for the lifetime of the product.
It will be discounted only if you've purchased the last major version. For versions after that, upgrades will require additional payment, which will be discounted by 50%.
Upgrades to future versions of the software will be free for minor versions only.
License can be used for Commercial and Personal use.
You can install/register the software at any time.
This promotion can be used to upgrade or extend an existing license.
Transfer of a license to another owned computer is allowed.
Each license allows installation on a single computer and a laptop.
Mac Product Key Finder Pro is licensed per computer, and not per user.
After you purchase Mac Product Key Finder Pro it may be used indefinitely.
Mac keyfinder full#
To see the full list please refer to this page: Mac Product Key Finder - supported apps. Please note folks, the number of supported apps is now over 800. Need to locate product keys across a network of Macs? Not a problem if you’re using Mac Product Key Finder Pro! The most popular software applications are supported by Mac Product Key Finder Pro, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and VMWare Fusion. If you’re feeling old fashioned, you can even print them out and stick them on your refrigerator! With Mac Product Key Finder Pro, you’ll be able to view all of the unencrypted product keys for your installed applications, with the power to save them as HTML, XML, CSV, PDF, or text file. Mac Product Key Finder Pro lets you recover or make a backup of lost product keys for the software installed on your Mac.
Mac keyfinder install#
If you ever had to reinstall all of the software on your Mac, how long would it take you? Sure, you could get your hands on all of your install discs, but then you also have to find the product keys – which can turn a quick recovery into a lost weekend just like that! Better get on the ball with today’s discount software promotion, Mac Product Key Finder Pro!

Keefox for macbook. Jun 12, 2013 I’ve used SliceX on a previous generation iMac and while performance is better it’s still not super fast and smooth. Part of it might be that SliceX is quite a complex effect that can really do a lot. Another part might just be the way FCPX’s effects architecture deals with complex effects. Paid Kiva Design Group Mac OS Classic/X 10.0 Version 3f4v02b Full Specs. Download Now Secure Download. Publisher's Description. From Kiva Design Group. Dec 18, 2011 Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update. New and Recently Updated. For troubleshooting your Mac; displays important system details.
Image-Line, developers of the hugely popular DAW FL Studio, formerly known as Fruity Loops, have confirmed that the software will be released as a native application for Mac OS X.
The company’s Knowledge Base FAQ entry on the subject has been updated to reflect the news, with the company explaining that the development team had completed work on native OS X versions of a number of FL Studio’s built-in instruments, and have now moved on to a native version of the forthcoming FL Studio 12 application itself.
Slicex For Mac Os 10.10
A version of the software ‘wrapped’ using Codeweavers CrossOver was released last year as a public beta for existing FL Studio licence holders, but poor third-party plugin support always made it an unsatisfactory solution. Some users have turned to alternatives including Boot Camp and Parallels Desktop, while we’ve also heard of at least a couple of pro producers who switched to Logic or Ableton on the Mac but kept a PC around just to run FL Studio now and again.
The release of a Mac version of FL Studio 12 – expected some time in 2015 – will pitch the DAW against Propellerhead Reason, currently the closest Mac alternative.
A Windows beta version of FL Studio 12 was released for testing earlier this month.
Check out the full statement from Image-Line below:
Will there ever be a native Mac OS X release of FL Studio?
Slicex For Mac Os Versions
We started by testing a FL Studio Mac OS X BETA (Crossover Wrapped) version with direct installation on Mac OS X. But this is still a Windows program, running on OS X. The interest in the wrapped beta, and the problems we faced supporting 3rd party VST plugins in it, lead the team to start work on native OS X VST versions of Edison, Gross Beat, Harmless, Harmor, Maximus, Ogun, Slicex, Sytrus, Vocodex. See how to get these plugins here.
Tumblr media
The VST plugin testing, was in fact, the start of the FL Studio native OS X compatibility development. The VST plugins use the same code-base as FL Studio itself and if we could get these working to spec on OS X, then FL Studio would likely follow soon after.
Well, the plugin testing is progressing nicely, and so the team has turned their attention to FL Studio 12 itself. It’s a long and slow process and we can’t make any promises, since we may come across unexpected and or unsolvable technical problems. But work is indeed under way. Below are some of the issues we face porting FL Studio to native Mac OS X and explains why this is taking ‘so long’:
Delphi:FL Studio is written in Delphi with in-line assembly for much of the DSP. This is one reason why FL Studio and its graphics are so fluid.Delphi only recently got the ability to compile to OS X. So while this is great, it’s a 1st-generation OS X compiler, it’s cranky and sometimes causes problems of its own. But, before this came along, we needed to port well over 1 million lines of code to another language. We never thought that was a good idea, and it’s why we never did it before. But, things have changed, so let’s call this progress.
Windows API:FL Studio is tightly bound to the Windows API that takes care of moving, minimizing, maximizing windows, detecting cursor position, drag & drop, opening windows dialogs, clipboard functions, decoding MP3s, … so a port requires all operating system dependent calls to be isolated & replaced by bi-platform dependent functions. That’s a major part of what the team are doing now.FYI, just getting all this system dependent code from Deckadance (which was created more or less with porting in mind) and replacing it with bi-platform versions took almost 6 months. FL Studio is many times the size of Deckadance, so please be patient.
Will this impact on the development of FL Studio for Windows?

Slicex For Mac Os High Sierra
No, the team working on the conversion to OS X is completely separate from the Windows development team. They talk, but don’t share any bodies that we know of, so it’s business as usual on the Microsoft side of things. Bill Gates sends his regards BTW.

Ms Office For Mac El Capitan
Tumblr media
It appears users of Microsoft Office 2016 are experiencing a high incident of the applications crashing since they upgraded to OS X El Capitan. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and has indicated they are working closely with Apple to come up with a solution but have not indicated when that might be released.
Emails released by Microsoft have acknowledged the issue and one senior program manager, commented:
“We are aware of the issue with Outlook 2011 on El Capitan and of Office 2016 on El Capitan,” “We are working on a fix for 2011, and for 2016, we are working closely with Apple to resolve this issue as soon as possible,” “Unfortunately, we do not have any timelines for either fix, please stay tuned and thank you for your understanding.”
Choose the right Microsoft 365 for your Mac Manage life’s demands with Microsoft 365. You’ll always stay a step ahead with the latest in AI-powered apps, 1 TB of cloud storage per person, and digital protection for things that matter most. The best Microsoft will do is a note on the looooong forum from a member of the Office for Mac team: “Hello everyone, We are aware of the issue with Outlook 2011 on El Capitan and of Office 2016 on El Capitan. We are working on a fix for 2011 and for 2016 we are working closely with Apple to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
These problems may not be coming as a surprise to some as a review of message boards shortly after the release of the first public beta of OS X El Capitan in late July made mention of these issues.
A support discussion on Microsoft’s site (currently) goes on for 25 pages with close to 250 messages about the issue. Here is a link to the Microsoft Support Page so you can read some of them yourself.
No one is saying whether Microsoft had access to the pre-release versions of OS X El Capitan prior to its release on September 30th but given the popularity of the office suite, and the fact that Apple regularly makes their software available to third parties prior to a release, we would expect that they did get a copy. Beyond that, we suspect that at least some of the nearly 120,000 Microsoft employees obtained a copy of the pre-release software as part of Apple’s public beta program and certainly cold have done their own testing.
Until a solution is presented it will be hard to know whether this issue is caused by a problem with Microsoft’s application or something within the OS X El Capitan operating system. Regardless, absent evidence of other applications having a similar issue or more widespread crashes across the OS X El Capitan platform, we see this as Microsoft’s problem to fix.
One frustrated Microsoft user posted:
“You cannot blame Apple for this. It is down to Microsoft to test and update their own software to run on updated operating systems,” “How would Apple have access to the development code for a Microsoft product?”
Testing of the first maintenance release of El Capitan (10.11.1) is already in the hands of beta testers and no one is saying whether a fix for this issue is, or will be included in that release.
The Bottom Line
Our suggestion is, at least for the time being, if you are thinking of upgrading to Office 2016 for Mac, wait until this issue has been address and fixed. If you are using an older version of the Office suite, you should be OK. If you have already upgraded to Office 2016 for Mac and are experiencing issues, you may want to consider uninstalling the office suit and reverting back to an older version or using an alternative suite of applications.
Cant download software because of a network problem mac. If you are using a newer Mac, you should already have access to Apple’s Pages, Numbers and Keynote applications, all of which can save files in an Office compatible format.
Another option is one of the free, Open Source Office alternatives like Apache Open Office or Libre Office just to name two.
We’ll continue to follow this situation and provide an update when a solution is finally provided.

UPDATE – 10/8/2015
Microsoft has released a partial fix for this issue. On September 7, 2015, Microsoft released Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 14.5.6 update and they state on their web site:
The hang situation that occurs during an account sync operation in Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 is fixed.
Microsoft is still researching the issues associated with Microsoft Office for Mac 2016 which affects the entire Microsoft Office suite of applications. No estimate has been provided as to when that fix may be available.

Review: Apple's new macOS Mojave polishes the Mac for iOS users
Apple's new macOS Mojave manages to be fresh and new without feeling unfamiliar. It's a significant, ambitious release we'd recommend for any Mac user with the Metal-capable hardware required to run it. However, as with all major updates, users of any professional or specialized third party apps or utilities should verify their compatibility with the new OS before upgrading. Fresh and new without a lot to learn Mojave doesn't radically change the entire user interface of your Mac, but it does give it an optional new Dark Mode appearance and adds a series of thoughtful and useful tools, including better file handling on the desktop with Stacks and in Finder windows with the new Gallery View and Quick Actions. It streamlines simple editing operations right within Quick Look; it enhances password management, security, and privacy; it updates iTunes and radically overhauls the Mac App Store. Plus is also opens the door to running iOS titles on the Mac, starting with a selection of Apple's own apps. All of these enhancements are bundled with a series of bug fixes; improvements and expansions of developer tools; new capabilities for Siri; and features to better support international users. Apple has also outlined its plans for a new multiuser FaceTime in Mojave, although this feature won't ship until an update later this Fall. From Dark Mode to Dynamic Desktop to Finder metadata to Quick Look editing and its new Apps, Mojave features some of the most visually attractive and compelling changes to macOS without also introducing complex new shifts in behaviors in how the system works with apps and documents that build on what we've known rather than changing them. . It's easy to recommend Mojave as an update, but going even further: the new release creates confidence in buying a new Mac, as it paints a picture of competence and incremental advancement that Mac buyers can expect to get every year after they buy their new machine for a solid four or five years -- Mojave actually supports some Macs going back eight years. No other PC or netbook vendor similarly offers solid, significant updates for free on an annual basis. In fact, the only other products that are similarly updated are Apple's own iOS devices. Mojave is, quite clearly, the Mac for iOS users who want a computer that is supported as well as their mobile devices. Mojave's progress over the beta period A lot has advanced since the first Public Beta back in June. Dynamic Desktop is now functional, so the included Mojave desktop dune image, and a simpler "solar gradient" color desktop, will now automatically change to give you a sense of the time of day as you work. Apple includes seven other desert themed images and a variety of other new and previous desktop images to choose from, but none of these support dynamic time shifting. It will be interesting to see if Apple releases new Dynamic Desktop image packages the same way it incrementally updates Apple TV aerial screensavers. And it will be quite a bit disappointing if this is feature is only limited to the two currently provided. Continuity Camera, one of the features that seemed to be working inconsistently in early betas, now appears to be solid across a variety of apps. Once you place an image taken by your iOS phone or tablet, there's a pull down control on it that lets you crop or edit it on your Mac via Markup (or use other Extensions you've installed). The scan functionality is particularly impressive, as it uses ARKit on your iPhone to intelligently map out the edges of the document. Once you capture it, you can refine the selection of the rectangle's corners, and it will skew the image to straighten it. After you approve, you continue capturing other scans or save what you have directly into your document. In our testing this worked impressively well. After placing images in a document, you can also double click on embedded Continuity Camera shots or scans to open them up in Preview for editing. Speaking of Preview, one oddity we noted in the early Public Beta was the inconsistency in the placement, appearance, and behavior of editing tools between the Markup tools in Preview and those when editing in Quick Look. The tool bars are still arranged differently, with a different default tool selected. In Preview it's the area selector used for cropping. In Quick Look, it's the drawing tool. So if you try to do a quick crop with the mouse the way you would in Preview, you begin drawing on your image instead. There are also some Markup tools missing from the new Quick Look editing mode: Instant Alpha, the Adjust Color panel (with tools for exposure, contrast, saturation, sharpness, etc) and the Image Dimension panel for manually resizing to a set percentage or to a number of pixels or inches. Rather than being an unfinished feature, this issue may simply be an example of two inconsistent implementations of Markup functionality. Over the years, macOS has previously introduced new UI concepts that take some time to consistently spread across the whole OS. Examples of this are becoming less frequent and thus stand out as more obvious when they do occur. Another inconsistency we noticed in the beta that hasn't changed relates to Stacks. This feature only exists on the desktop: if you open a Finder window and look at the "Desktop" folder, you still see each icon separated instead of stacked in groups by type. However, even when you Group documents in the Desktop folder by Kind and use Stacks on the Finder desktop to Group by Kind, you get different results. For example, in Finder windows all images are sorted into a single group, while on the desktop, Stacks separates Screenshots from other standard Images. These are not showstopper problems, but do make the Mojave experience a bit confusing, forcing you to think about what "mode" you're working in. That's something the Mac human user interface guidelines have always sought to avoid. On the other hand, the Mojave Finder's new Preview Column, shown by default in the new Gallery View, presents a set of Quick Actions (implemented as Finder Extensions) which includes the exact same Markup functionality that appears in Quick Look. So Preview itself is the odd app here. In addition to Markup, Apple also provides Finder Quick Actions to Rotate an image; Create a PDF from image files or Trim an audio or video file. These features bring iOS-like, app-free editing of documents to the Mac, creating a new consistency across Apple's platforms. Note that this implementation has also been cleaned up since the first public beta. The Preview Column in Gallery View is also customizable, so you can configure how much metadata you want to see. Simply open up Show Preview Options from the Finder's View menu (below). Another aspect of Mojave to see big beta-period improvements are the new UIKit-based apps from iOS: Home, Stocks, News and Voice Memos. In the beta, these felt like really fresh ports ripped from iOS. Now they feel and look like native Mac apps. News and Stocks are actually a nicer experience on the larger Mac display with a sidebar rather than an iOS Maps-style slide up panel for navigation. Voice Memos now sync to iOS via iCloud, and Home now correctly references "double clicking" to configure a HomeKit accessory, a behavior that doesn't exist on iOS. This should create confidence in Apple's stated plans to further refine and open up UIKit support on Macs for third party developers next summer, creating a wave of new apps and utilities for Apple's approximately 100 million Mac users originating from the massive existing library of apps created for the billion users of iOS. While pundits once imagined Apple would create a Red Box to run PC software on Macs natively, it's now working to leverage the massive popularity of iOS to improve the range of titles available to the Mac. And to get ready for this, Apple is also launching an all new Mac App Store, patterned after the enhancements it made to the iOS App Store last year. These include curated collections of software specific to Creators, Developers, Workers and Gamers, with stories and videos that make it easy to find the software you're looking for. Improved merchandising of apps resulted a solid improvement in iOS app sales, and should also dramatically improve the usefulness of the Mac App Store -- as well as get things ready for new UIKit apps arriving next year. Beyond all of the beta period refinements made in Mojave over the last three months, Apple has also updated its own apps, including Pages, Keynote and Numbers, to support Continuity Camera as well other new Mojave features including Dark Mode. And in parallel, developers have been taking advantage of the beta period to add support for new Mojave features as well. However, as noted earlier, any Mac users who are reliant on specific apps should make a point to follow up with those apps' third party developers to make sure they've worked out any issues with the Mojave release before updating to the new OS. Apple appears to be making fewer drastic changes to macOS as it matures, but even minor changes may cause disruptive issues for apps that aren't ready yet. The maturing macOS is free to focus on functional enhancements Just over 34 years after the original Macintosh first shipped in 1984, it's almost hard to believe that Apple's iconic desktop has now been grounded on sophisticated NeXT technologies for more than half of that time. Since the first consumer 10.0 version was first released 17 years ago, Apple has introduced 14 major new updates -- compared to just 9 major version numbers across the first 17 years of the Mac's existence under the classic Mac OS system software. After years of radical overhauls that modernized its printing, networking, file system and media handling; made huge shifts to 64-bit and Intel processors; and introduced entirely new capabilities from Time Machine to iCloud integration to Continuity to memory compression -- one could say that Apple's macOS platform has now reached a Golden Age. There's still room for improvements, but using a Mac has never been a nicer experience where things generally work so well that little touches often feel delightful. One aspect that is improving -- but at an often frustratingly slow pace -- is Siri. After brining its voice assistant to the Mac, Siri continues to gain new features, including hands-free "Hey Siri" support on brand new iMac Pro and the latest TouchBar MacBook Pro models. Plus it now has the handy ability to find your AirPods or iOS devices or control HomeKit devices -- as well as more questionable abilities to ask about holidays or celebrities or sporting events. However, it still struggles in other areas. Ask it to turn on Dark Mode -- a natural expectation on a OS release defined by the new feature -- and Siri plays the role of HAL 9000 in 2001. You can, however, quickly switch into Dark Mode using a keyboard shortcut or a new Automator Action installed in the TouchBar with Mojave. Under the hood, Apple is also making significant improvements to macOS, particularly for developers. Xcode 10 received some of the most interest among WWDC developers thinking about Dark Mode, in part because of the natural fit for a dark UI when working with code, and of course because Apple gave its development tools features specific to testing out the new Dark Mode on coders' own apps. Apple has also opened up improved developer access to a technology Apple has been increasingly using internally: Machine Learning. Using the new CreateML, developers can build original ML models that leverage the work Apple has already done in vision and natural language models, creating tools for image classification, word tagging, and sentence classification using training data and a few lines of code. A computer for iOS users The Mac is no longer the scrappy underdog crying out for attention in a world dominated by Windows PCs or defined by Unix. In fact, as observed in an earlier look at the Mojave Public Beta, Apple isn't really focusing on selling Macs to consumer PC switchers anymore at all. Instead, Apple continues to disrupt the market for PCs by offering competitively priced iPad models that are simpler to individuals use and easier for companies to deploy, with a focus on high mobility rather than seeking to replicate all the functionality of legacy desktops and a windowing environment-- much of which is simply unnecessary for users with streamlined needs. The Mac is now being sold as the ideal "creator" computer for iOS users, visible in the range of features Apple has brought "back to the Mac" after initially introducing them on iOS. This continues in Mojave with the adoption of iOS-like screen capture editing which is actually enhanced on the Mac. Then there's the aforementioned Markup document editing and cropping, simple Trim editing on audio and video files, and even entire apps that were formerly exclusive to iOS, including Home (below), News, Stocks, and Voice Memos. Not so many years ago, Apple was clearly working to make the Mac familiar, comfortable and compatible to users of Unix and Windows. Today, Apple is focusing it efforts on making iOS users feel at home on the Mac. It's not hard to understand why. A decade ago, PCs and Unix were dominant computing operating systems. Today, iOS 11 represents the largest, most valuable platform -- larger even than Windows 10 and far more valuable than devices running any version of Android. As a premium bank of users, iOS is simply the best demographic Apple can market its Macs to -- and those premium buyers with an interest in the newest technology are already inside its stores. One of the unique features Apple sells on iOS is privacy and security -- enabling users to decide if they want an app to be able to send notifications, access their camera or use their location. In Mojave, Apple has also brought more of these controls to the Mac, requiring apps to ask for permission to access the camera or microphone, or to read data from Mail or Messages, or backups from Time Machine or iTunes. Apple is also making it easier to use strong passwords, and to find and strengthen weak passwords used across various online accounts -- something I've caught myself doing, even after the massive account breaches at Yahoo and Equifax. With iCloud syncing between iOS and Mac Keychains, this makes it even more attractive to iPhone buyers to opt into buying a Mac. Additionally, Siri can now be used to look up passwords without manually navigating through the Keychain app. At the same time, Apple is also working in parallel to make Macs a viable option in the enterprise as an alternative to Windows PCs. Yet even here, the door into corporate deployments was opened by iOS, whose users are the most likely to now request a Mac in the workplace. Still, for switchers Apple has enhanced its Migration Assistant. The tool is now capable of transferring much more information from a Windows PC: documents, contacts, calendar, email, and system accounts can all now be moved in addition to the Desktop and Documents folder it could move in the past. An OS optimized for Mac hardware Rather than being overdue for a merger, Apple's iOS and macOS computing platforms have a synergy that is enhanced by staying separate, with each focused on being optimized for the kind of hardware it runs on. At the same time, Apple is also enhancing how well Macs work with iPhone and iPad with its Continuity features. In Mojave, this gets a boost with Continuity Camera, which now works just as effortlessly as using AirDrop to send files or URLs, or copy and paste to send selections back and forth wirelessly. With its distinct iOS mobile offerings, Apple has focused its macOS platform on professional creators and others with a need for more power and complexity in their computing tools. Mac hardware has effectively dropped the low-end entirely to focus on premium models: iMacs with large, high pixel count displays; ultra-thin, performant MacBook notebooks; the beefy new iMac Pro and upcoming new Mac Pro models. Microsoft now supports Windows across everything from low-end 32-bit ARM, Celeron and Sempron chips to high-end Epyc and Xeon processors, and across a range of PC hardware-- from limited RAM and minimal SoC GPUs to the other extreme of components. In contrast, Apple's entire Mac range uses mainstream 64-bit Intel processors, roughly consistent supplies of RAM, and -- now under Mojave -- both supporting Metal-optimized graphics hardware and making it a minimum requirement. This greatly simplifies Apple's development of macOS and enables the company to rapidly introduce new technologies like Metal -- the same way that exclusively running iOS on premium devices with consistent hardware specifications makes it much easier to upgrade and improve compared to the fractionalized world of Android, stretched thin across a disparate range of mostly low-end, under-specced devices. Additionally, the fact that macOS is free means that Apple can focus on fixing issues and adding useful new features, rather than trying to shake up interest with coats of frosting and marketing frills to justify an upgrade fee. Apple loses some revenue from giving its OS updates away for free, but also gains some major benefits. First, it dramatically increases adoption of new updates, enabling Apple to rapidly deploy new apps and technologies for third parties to use. Secondly, it greatly increases the ongoing value and lowers the Total Cost of Ownership for Mac buyers. Mac buyers often pay a premium upfront over Windows PC alternatives, but they can also expect to get free, significant annual updates across the next five or so years. Windows hasn't even been updated since version 10 appeared in 2015; new versions before that came out about every three years between Vista, 7 and 8, and these struggled to justify their $120 to $200 upgrade prices by adding flamboyant and often unappreciated features such as the Metro UI and other radical -- sometimes arbitrary -- shifts that turned off many users. Apple's newest release of macOS Mojave includes a number of major changes that are immediately visible to users. However, rather than just arbitrarily just shifting how things work, the new features overwhelmingly feel like natural improvements that existing users will want to adopt. At as a free upgrade, the majority of users have no reason to hesitate to upgrade. Note that before you update, it's a great idea to back up your Mac first, and also check to see if any important apps you're using have reported any issues with the new software. https://goo.gl/e7H9LD

Pesky software updates keep us secure online — like, srsly
New Post has been published on https://pressography.org/pesky-software-updates-keep-us-secure-online-like-srsly/
Pesky software updates keep us secure online — like, srsly
Software program updates regularly have the worst timing. A couple of weeks ago, I had about 30 tabs open across three exclusive Chrome home windows, with Firefox open for bills that handiest appear to paintings in that browser. I had unsaved feedback on Adobe documents and track playing as I flipped among work, research for a weekend away and chatting to a friend. Then the working system cleared its throat, pronouncing its presence with a notification: “Good day, restart to put in updates?” No danger. “Try later?” For the 10th time, yes, later. Hypothetically. I can be busy then too.
                                        Software Updates
Computer Software
Maximum folks develop into young adults in terms of such interruptions — Like, can’t you simply go away me by myself? But this is pretty elaborate due to the fact updates are frequently bundled together with essential protection patches. Of direction, a lot of us don’t consider this. As an alternative we assume, “Why does Adobe need updating once more? I can view PDFs simply pleasant.” Or we ask ourselves: “Do I want Java? What does that even do? Is that this malware?”
A few improvements are welcome, which includes while a favorite mobile app gets a fab characteristic. while it became feasible to alter the episode duration inside the Zombies, Run! running app, I used to be so glad. However, plenty of updates is a source of frustration. Mainly when navigation changes in unintuitive methods (looking at you, iTunes), the capability is removed (windows eight — by no means neglect), things spoil (deep breath, new Mac OS), or tactics should be relearned (2nd axis, Microsoft Excel).
But updates are a hugely important a part of maintaining ourselves comfortable. So much so that putting in them become the top ranked item when security specialists were asked by using researchers at Google: “What are the pinnacle 3 stuff you do to stay secure online?” The researchers, who published their findings in a 2015 paper, additionally asked mere mortals the same question. In evaluation to the 35 in keeping with a cent of professionals who plumped for “deploy software program updates”, simplest 2 in step with a cent of ordinary humans started the equal.
What’s at the back of this is how software program development works and our specific ranges of expertise about it. software agencies, while making improvements to their code, will occasionally make errors. If they waited to launch new capability till the entirety has been tested to perfection, we’d never be capable of regulating the episode period in Zombies, Run! (or certainly, view websites optimized for cellular telephones, as you will be doing right now). Instead, updates are launched after a quantity of best guarantee. A few insects are discovered after the truth and some of the ones create vulnerabilities a hacker can use to get admission to your tool and wreak varying amounts of havoc. corporations often pick out those issues themselves and A few even offer so-known as “malicious program bounties” wherein out of doors participants are paid for responsibly disclosing safety flaws to the software producer. And every so often the worst does occur: the computer virus is discovered due to a hacker exploiting it.
In any case, the computer virus fixes that mind the vulnerabilities are released in the form of software updates that may be bundled with the new capability. Many humans then ignore the lot.
We get rid of rebooting. We flip down installations. We don’t want to be interrupted by using this issue that — now and again — is a bad experience, or that may motive other software we use to break. As ever, it’s far a balancing act among safety and value.
One manner companies have handled that is to hide the technique with computerized updates and compelled installs. Going too far with this, but, risks annoyance, further detachment or even much less willingness to go with replacing prompts than there may be now.
As Kami Vaniea of the University of Edinburgh and Yasmeen Rashidi of Indiana College notice in a paper published last year, the effect is a deadweight loss. Customers don’t update as it’s perceived as no longer wanted — even though it could be useful — and developers need to hold fewer versions of the software program. A stand-off ensues and both parties are worse off.
The answer is to find higher approaches of communicating with Users approximately the safety blessings of accepting updates fast. I assume it would additionally assist if the timing was higher. Like, srsly, not whilst I have 30 browser tabs open and am speaking to my pals. Jeez.
How-To Keep away from software Updates Breaking Extra Than They Restoration?
Update
Regularly humans run software program updates on their electronic devices or have the technique carry out the downloading and install technique mechanically handiest to discover the replace is incompatible or risky as compared to previous software variations of the running machine.
For Maximum, the modern versions carry welcomed security patches, worm fixes, and appealing new capabilities determined through early adopters and beta testers. Lamentably because of the multitude of software program available there is no accurate approach to affirming each present day setup combination between variations to make certain a replace will install trouble-unfastened.
A little endurance will assist decrease the hassle as early adopters may have set up updates, observed issues, and reported most people of them which if good sized, reports can have collected within a few days of launch. Despite the fact that, the modern-day updates may additionally comprise relatively-desired capabilities and computer virus fixes, waiting can substantially lessen the danger of installing problematic software or incompatible versions.
Averting or waiting an extended period of time among software program updates leaves security holes within the device and any networks connected to it.
Although Some updates can motive troubles because of bugs in the code, most customarily troubles will result from a compatibility war with other software program or its settings inside. Packages which make use of several third-birthday celebration plug-ins encounters this difficulty regularly because of their dependence on many additives to function properly. Even software that does not closely reply on plug-ins may also still have dependencies that exist.
This all might also appear tedious, But far Greater green in comparison to the frustrating time wasted whilst things don’t paintings and having to parent out why.
Report any plug-ins you have set up and performed an internet search for every plug-in and its compatibility with the software program update model. The software’s guide, readme, or configuration file have to point out the location of the software’s plugin folders.
Check if your software integrates or connects to every other app or service. If it does, perform an internet seek to find out whether or not or now not the brand new version works causes new problems.
when issues occur, checking product support forums that Users submit approximately comparable court cases and inquiries approximately the modern-day replace may additionally cause quick workarounds and provide precious remarks in the direction of product builders providing a fast resolve. agencies not often notify Customers of errors or which you have to chorus from updating to the brand new model of their product.
A quick net seek need to flip up famous discussion boards that provide similar problems by different Customers. Checking these boards for issues, and posting a query asking approximately potential problems will assist help in troubleshooting if the solution to your specific issue isn’t apparent.
online databases exist that offer correct records to provide operating device compatibility. The Maximum famous Linux distributions offer a large on-line network of professional and dependable Customers. Roaring Apps provide Apple OS X compatibility facts, whilst Microsoft offers Compatibility Middle, a comparable device for home windows.
Even though upgrading comes with its own set of issues, regularly whilst your replace simply won’t work with older variations and there’s no manner around it, surely updating the whole lot will solve the problem. The reason being different set up software program can also require updating to be compatible with the difficult software. This works on the condition that you live up to date as the Most respectable software program groups pay near attention to dependencies on third-party plugins, apps, and services, whether or not they are immediately integrated or no longer.
Pesky Synonym
It is fairly rare, However from time to time in the event you have tried the whole thing yet still not capable of solving a main issue, be prepared to roll again and repair from a dependable backup. This case may be very not likely, but being prepared and reviewing improve documentation thoroughly does not harm. Assessing the price of doubtlessly upgrading to incompatible variations ahead paired with a regarded exact repair point will assist Avoid software updates breaking Extra than they Repair.

Activate Night Shift mode on your Mac and spare your eyes
New Post has been published on https://universeinform.com/2017/03/14/activate-night-shift-mode-on-your-mac-and-spare-your-eyes/
Activate Night Shift mode on your Mac and spare your eyes
In case you use your laptop earlier than going to bed, you owe it on your eyes to show on Night Shift to your Mac. The characteristic, which adjusts the color of your show to the warmer cease of the mild spectrum after sunset, eases eye pressure and may make falling asleep less difficult.
Night Shift dials down the quantity of blue light emitted by means of your display. Research have proven that exposure to blue mild, which makes pix look bright and crisp, can have negative outcomes throughout the nighttime use of electronics: Getting too much blue mild after dark could make it extra difficult to flow off to sleep. After introducing Night Shift for iPhone and iPad a year in the past, Apple is ultimately bringing the function to the Mac. You’ll discover Night time Shift in beta variations of MacOS 10.12.4, which Apple has been releasing to builders and members of the Apple Beta Software program Program in current weeks. You can set Night time Shift mode to begin robotically at sundown and stop at dawn (my favored putting) or choose other alternatives from the drop-down menu. You could also test the Manual box to interact Night time Shift mode and make your display appear warmer at any time. A coloration Temperature slider lets you regulate the show from Much less Warm (extra blue light) to extra Heat (Much less blue mild).
Use Siri to begin Night time Shift mode on Mac
.You may additionally ask Siri to show Night time Shift on or off. When you have the characteristic installation to cause automatically, toggling the function on will override the settings till the next sunrise or sundown. The automatic timetable will resume often afterward.
Will Night time Shift mode work with Contact Bar? One element I noticed approximately MacOS beta 10.12.4 is that Night time Shift mode can’t be toggled the use of the new MacBook Seasoned’s Touch Bar. This will trade in a destiny update.
What does Night time Shift mode look like?
Want to look what Night Shift mode does on a Mac? take a look at out the 2 pics underneath. I maxed out my color temperature, so with Night time Shift on I see a completely Warm hue that’s ways unique from how the equal image appears with Night time Shift off. You could use the slider to trade the color temperature however you please.
The Night Tomato Weight loss plan: A new Manner to Shed pounds
Tomatoes are a low calorie, low fats, and exceptionally nutritious fruit. Sure, it is a fruit for those that nonetheless want to argue that it’s a vegetable. In that case, then you definitely understand that those 10-inch drugs are best for surfing the web, however, with their inventory Android OS they do not have an excessive amount of extra to provide. Luckily, some very gifted people observed methods to root the ten G2 allowing us to make administrative adjustments or allowing the substitute of the stock Android working device. There are even techniques to installing Google Play, formerly referred to as Google Marketplace, and this alone has made the 10 G2 worth owning. The best makeup on earth is MAC makeup, hands down. Created in 1985 by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, MAC cosmetics were designed to hold up to the most grueling conditions. Ordinary drug store makeup doesn’t look good under bright lights, and most of it sweats off or wears off under normal circumstances anyway. The chemists who created MAC cosmetics, however, designed it to hold up to just about any challenge you can throw at it. It’s good for all ages, all races and all sexes, which later became the company’s motto.
MAC makeup is also a socially conscious brand. There are four social initiative problems that the company currently has in place: MAC Cruelty-Free Beauty, Back to MAC Recycling, MAC Kids Helping Kids, and the MAC AIDS Fund. Even though MAC cosmetics was bought out by the Estee Lauder Companies in 1994 and the original founder Frank Angelo died in 1997, the MAC AIDS Fund has been continued by the new owners. The coolest thing about it is that every penny of the sale of the eight products under the Viva Glam name gets donated to the charity. This has raised more than $86 million for the charity since 1994.
If you’re a makeup artist, you can get 40 percent off of the price of MAC makeup. Other beauty professionals can get a 30 percent discount. The brand is also extremely socially diverse. Spokespeople in the past have included everyone from RuPaul to Linda Evangelista. MAC Beauty Icons have included Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Raquel Welch and Catherine Deneuve. All in all, MAC makeup has done a lot for the industry as well as the community. They perfected makeup and are a great role model for other American companies. It can be said that part of their success is due to their acceptance of all things beautiful, and that’s something we can all stand behind.

Is Apple's AirPower wireless charging pad late because of something besides technical challenges?
Much ado has been made about a minor peripheral charger Apple previewed last year but subsequently still hasn't brought to market. But, there's a much more obvious reason for AirPower to never show up, an issue Jobs himself ran into multiple times. Is AirPower that big of a deal? Last year, alongside iPhone X and the new cellular Series 3 Apple Watch, Apple showed off a preview of AirPower: an induction charging pad that could charge a new phone, a new watch and a yet-unreleased new charging case for AirPods. Why did Apple demonstrate a product that wasn't yet ready to ship? It's rare for Apple to introduce anything that isn't ready to sell immediately, or at least within the next few weeks. Notable exceptions included the first Apple TV which debuted a few months before it went on sale, just as Apple was showing off another entirely new product in the original iPhone. And that iPhone didn't ship for nearly six more months, at the end of June 2007. Since then, Apple has generally introduced new iPhones only when they were ready to sell. Secrecy and excitement for new technological features is a big factor in Apple's sales cycle. If Apple were to announce or outline new technologies well in advance, its competitors would have that much extra time to introduce their own copies. Siri, FaceTime, Touch ID and Animoji are all examples of wow-tech that helped to sell new iPhones because they were exclusive to new devices that are now available for sale. Despite the minor fanfare, AirPower wasn't exactly a wildly compelling new product with the ability to boost new Apple Watch 3 or iPhone 8 and iPhone X sales, however. In fact, its preview may have only resulted in at least some people holding off on buying AirPods, waiting for the new version with an induction-charging case. So, in the great-genius of retrospect, it's pretty uncontroversial to say that Apple shouldn't have wasted any of its 2017 keynote talking up a product that it still isn't ready to release. Why did it, given that Apple Watch 3 already introduced the key feature of cellular data, and iPhone 8 and X offered many new features beyond their new support for Qi induction charging? It appears Apple was trying to make induction Qi charging more attractive, given that it had worked to build the new feature into both of its new iPhones. In fact, support for Qi required a reworking of the iPhone case, involving a glass back and new edge-shell architecture that resulted in a heavier and more fragile device. Induction charging is somewhat nice to have, but it wasn't really ready for prime time last year. Apple's year-ago phones could only initially support very slow 5 watt induction charging upped to a slightly less slow 7.5 watt via a subsequent software update. That's much slower than using a standard iPad charger, and far worse than taking advantage of their new support for USB-PD, which lets you use a newer MacBook or similar USB-C adapter along with a special Lightning cable to charge at the fastest possible rate. The new fast charging USB-PD feature of last year's new iPhones is particularly noteworthy for how fast it powers a nearly dead phone to half in 30 minutes, or to a nearly full 85 percent in about 120 minutes. Using induction charging or the slow 5W USB block Apple still ships with its new phones, it takes about 120 minutes just to get to 50 percent. Once you get past 85 percent, the charging speed tapers off across the board. Apple's 2017 wireless charging was not really very fast at all, but is potentially convenient if you have a charging pad in your kitchen, at your work desk, built into the table at your favorite coffeeshop, installed in your car, or at bedside allowing you to incrementally charge your phone here and there without dealing with a cable. The problem was that existing pads could only charge one device. With AirPower, Apple was highlighting that its future hardware would solve this issue, eventually making it more convenient to charge the multiple wireless devices Apple's customers now carry and wear. It just hasn't arrived yet. Given that it's now a year later, and that Apple has scrubbed mention of the product from its website, it appears that the product might have been abandoned. And, Apple isn't saying anything to AppleInsider or any other venue that we've seen about it, even after multiple requests. At the very least, Apple doesn't want to talk about it anymore. And for good reason: induction charging wasn't as much of a game changer as it seemed to be back a year or two when Samsung was touting it as an exclusive feature and Ikea was selling pads designed to install in its furniture. Is AirPower just delayed? There's another reason why Apple may not want to be talking about AirPower: new AirPods still haven't been released, so directing more attention to a product that either is still unfinished or waiting on would simply ding current AirPods sales further with no upside. Apple has keen insight into what consumers really think about Qi charging because it sells third party charging pads in its stores. If it were wildly popular, Apple could have switched gears and released a simpler wireless charging pad by now. The reality is that nobody appears to be really clamoring for a pad to charge their late model iPhone and Series 3 Watch, because the phone can be charged a lot faster using a cable, and the newest watches don't really need to be taken off and charged up throughout the day -- and the earlier models that did weren't going to support AirPower). Given that Apple has improved the induction charging speed of its new 2018 iPhone XS and XR models, it's still possible that Apple is simply waiting to introduce AirPower alongside its new AirPods, to ensure that everyone is excited about the new thing when it's actually ready to buy. It might also appear further into the future, once induction charging gets to the point where it could replace Lightening altogether, resulting in purely wireless, port-free mobile devices. This all happened before Recall another time Apple announced a new feature designed to sell iPhones that took much longer to release than anticipated: the White iPhone 4. After being announced in June 2010, it resulted in months of embarrassment as Apple struggled to perfect a durable, flawless white glass back for the new model. During that time, all the advanced talk about the White option did nothing but potentially stall some sales as buyers impatiently waited for it to go on sale for nearly a year -- all the way to April 2011. It could be that Apple pulled all mention of AirPower simply to quiet the chatter around a product that isn't yet ready. However, there's also the distinct possibility that AirPower has been canceled, for a reason that nobody seems to have considered. In part, this is because Apple doesn't like talking about this ugly dark secret. That reason: intellectual property challenges. Despite protests from pundits who wondered aloud why Apple pre-announced a new feature if there were some risk of it not actually shipping, and the presumption that this hasn't ever occurred before, this has happened before. This all happened before, twice more Beyond the White iPhone 4, both times that Apple announced something it didn't ever end up shipping involved features dramatically framed as important new technology-based announcements in an Event Keynote by no less than Jobs himself. The first was the announcement, back at WWDC 2010, that the-then new FaceTime feature introduced as part of iOS 4 on iPhone 4 was based on industry standard protocols and that Apple's technology stack for video conferencing would be opened up to allow third parties to create interoperable, cross-platform products. That never subsequently shipped, and Apple eventually stopped talking about it. That was eight years ago. It's pretty clear today FaceTime will never be open. The second example occurred later that year at the release of iOS 4.2 in the debut of AirPrint, a new feature for iOS and Macs that allowed Apple's mobile devices to (finally!) print, using a much simpler system that didn't require drivers and complex PC-style printer settings and configuration. For new printers, hardware makers only needed to incorporate support for Apple's new AirPrint protocol. For existing printers, Apple planned to enable Macs to share them to iOS devices in a way that would allow any iPhone or iPad to print via the shared printer using AirPrint, even if the printer had been built and sold prior to AirPrint being invented. Yet this feature was later pulled from Mac OS betas and never shipped to consumers. There is very strong circumstantial evidence that indicates both cancellations were caused by intellectual property challenges. In other words, somebody sued to demand royalty payments or to stop the deployment of new technology to preserve their existing sales. In the case of AirPrint, we know it was working because we tested it working in beta releases. The problem wasn't that Apple couldn't get it to work, it was that it couldn't sell or even give it away as a feature for a non-technical reason. And that reason: it overwhelmingly appears to be because a printer maker (which I believe was HP) blocked AirPrint support for legacy printers to push buyers to buy new printers specifically to use AirPrint to print from mobile devices. HP actually partnered with Apple to launch AirPrint on its new models because it saw the technology as helping new sales. But legacy support for sharing existing printers -- including printers not made by HP -- to new iOS devices was nothing but a threat to the already stagnant demand for old fashioned paper copies of digital information. Apple was forced to pull its already finished AirPrint sharing from Mac OS, but was not proud of this and offered no explanations. There was no public lawsuit exposing the details of any argument. Apple also wanted to remain on good terms with all of its printer partners, who it wanted to support AirPrint. Initially, only HP did. One more example: ZFS While never announced by Jobs, nor even publicly touted as an upcoming feature for Macs, starting in 2007 rumors floated of Apple working to shift Macs from HFS+ to an advanced new file system developed by Sun: ZFS. A Sun marketing executive even blurted out prematurely the prediction that Macs would be moving to ZFS as their default file system. Over the next two years, Apple actually shipped some support for reading and writing ZFS volumes on Macs. However, by 2009 those features were all pulled. The reason: Oracle acquired Sun, and already had its own advanced file system project. Further, Sun's ZFS had come under attack in a patent lawsuit by NetApp, which charged that ZFS infringed upon its storage patents related to WAFL. Apple is a better innovator than litigator Around the same time, Apple also turned around and decided that if it was going to continue to deal with other companies (and patent trolls) attacking every new technology it turned out, it was also going to go on the offensive against Google's Android licensees who were increasingly copying Apple's own patented work. After being sued by Nokia in 2009, it launched a lawsuit against Motorola in 2010, then sued Samsung and later settled a patent deal with HTC in 2012. As a result, Apple was branded for years as a brutal patent enforcer trying to use litigation rather than the court of public opinion and open markets to compete on the merits of its technology. This was, of course, incredibly deceitful because Motorola, Samsung, Nokia and many other companies were also publicly suing Apple over various IP, even as companies like Qualcomm were using their market power to enforce egregious, non-competitive contracts related to monetizing their IP, directly subverting open markets and competitive innovation. So it appears that HP killed a key AirPrint feature after Jobs introduced it, making it impossible to ever release. (Note that third parties shipped software tools that reenabled support for sharing legacy printers as AirPrint-capable, but those firms were small enough to get away with it because HP (or whoever else was behind it) saw less risk and less potential reward from publicly hunting them down and threatening legal actions. The idea that Apple was forced to kill AirPlay sharing over IP challenges is bolstered by the case of FaceTime, over which Apple was actually publicly sued by patent troll VirnetX, resulting in jury-awarded damages and the requirement of Apple changing its architecture to avoid patent infringement. The original design of FaceTime was intended to enable direct video conferencing between clients. However, this was subsequently changed to require an authenticating step with a client-side encryption certificate from Apple (which only Apple can provide and which it can revoke), making it impossible for other third party clients (or older jailbroken versions of iOS) to connect with FaceTime users. As with the case of AirPrint, the real story of FaceTime wasn't ever told because nobody had an interest in telling it. Apple didn't want to pull back the curtains of its development process or detail how FaceTime worked because there was no value it it. It also had no interest in seeking pity for being defeated in an East Texas trial that awarded VirnetX more money for supposedly inventing VPN connections than Apple itself was able to claim from its multiple lawsuits against Samsung. Ironically, in the years where punditry and most members of the tech media were assailing Apple for "litigating, not innovating in the market," Apple was only really successful in innovating and winning in the court of public opinion. In IP litigations, Apple was largely just treading water, successfully punching out some of the sharks while being forced to pay out hundreds of millions to various phony "inventors" who claimed to have thought up some of the ideas that Apple actually brought to market-- in a mobile marketplace where everyone else was massively incompetent in rolling out innovations anyone wanted to buy. Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Google, Palm, Dell, Sony, HP, Amazon and Facebook all flubbed their various incumbent and/or challenging efforts to beat Apple's iPhone or iPad. Yet there was only one company that was beleaguered by the media for being "unable to innovate," even as the companies that introduced patent litigation against Apple were portrayed as offended giants who really deserved huge payouts because Apple was so litigious and not competing on the basis of its technology. The flawgic runs deep. Will AirPower ever arrive? So is AirPower the latest example of an Apple technology being grounded due to IP litigation? Given the patent minefield surrounding "wireless" induction charging (Samsung has already been embroiled in a patent suit with a former partner, related to its implementation of wireless charging), there could be various reasons for this to occur. Apple's new contributions to solving some of the problems of existing induction charging pads by supporting multiple concurrent devices, and determining charging priority assignment could very likely be repressed due to claims by others to have invented the idea of using multiple coils or other improvements to the basic concept of induction power transfer, making it impossible or simply too costly to release it and then defend it in court. Samsung once attempted to block sales of iPhones in the U.S. based on the idea that Apple had acquired $11.72 chips from a company that paid to license Samsungs technologies, but Samsung wanted more money for patent royalties ($16!) from Apple just because it needed some sort of case to throw back after it trampled Apple's patent portfolio to counterfeit the iPhone. Imagine if the courts had sided with Samsung even momentarily, and held up sales of iPhones until the case was resolved. The competitive landscape would have been radically altered, defeating all the work Apple had done in favor of a specious legal claim over patents that were never infringed in the first place. That's essentially what happened to the promise of "open" FaceTime, where it wasn't Apple's core technology that was challenged, but rather a supporting automatic VPN setup that was used to stall its open rollout and prevent Apple from widely sharing it. At the 2010 introduction of FaceTime, the mobile industry was also radically shifting, resulting in all of the potential licensees of FaceTime-compatible technology effectively going away (Palm, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Java ME) while Google's Android appeared with a distinct disdain for Apple and little interest in releasing video conferencing that was compatible with or defined by Apple -- which Google at the time thought it would quickly crush into irrelevance. Several years later, Google would now love to have compatibly with iMessage and FaceTime. It's struggling to work with Microsoft to bring PC-connectivity to Android and with Samsung to introduce chat that works across providers and platforms the way Apple's does. Google's own efforts to launch a FaceTime-competitor have been splintered and ineffective on iOS. Conversely, at this point Apple has zero interest in bringing the value of FaceTime to Google's platforms, thanks in part to its efforts being interrupted by patent trolls until it became clear that sharing would no longer be advantageous. It certainly may be that the problem holding up AirPower isn't actually any technical engineering problem, but simply intellectual property issues. While Apple excels at the former, the latter is less an issue of pure competence and more a matter of lucky deal making or legal wrangling that depends on the rationality of negotiators or even jury members with no real specialized understanding of the issues. In other words, a crapshoot, where the odds are stacked against engineers. It may be that Apple can resolve whatever issues are holding up AirPower and may eventually release the product within the year alongside new AirPods and possibly even Qi-charging iPads. But if it doesn't, the most likely reason is simply a legal conundrum-- one that has occurred before and is likely to keep happening as long as patents are used to block innovation and reward speculative investment rather than protect and promote invention. https://goo.gl/wX46r6
