Like Deepawali, Dussehra, Eid, Raksha Bandhan, Lohri, Teej, Holi, Navratri etc. Navratri Festival is considered a major festival in Hinduism. This festival is known as the worship of nine forms of Goddess Durga. Although this festival is celebrated with great pomp throughout India, but it has great importance in some states like Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Uttar India etc. This festival is celebrated in the form of Maa Durga Upasana in 9 days and nights, it literally means “nine nights” Although the festival of Navratri comes four times in every year, but among these, Shardiya Navratri and Chaitra Navratri are considered to be of great importance. Shardiya Navratri comes either in September or October.
What is the religious significance of Navratri Festival
The festival of Navratri has great significance from the religious point of view because on this day Goddess Durga won religion over unrighteousness by killing a demon named Mahishasura. Navratri is also seen as the victory of religion over Adharam. This festival is believed to be related to Goddess Durga, who is the goddess of power, this festival lasts for 9 days and on these nine days, Goddess Durga is worshipped in different forms.
Nine forms of Navadurga:
Shailputri: Daughter of Parvat Raj Himalaya, she is worshipped on the first day of Navratri.

Legend related to Navratri Festival
Although there are many stories related to Navratri, but the most prominent story is believed to be the war between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura, Mahishasura was a very powerful demon who got a boon from Lord Brahma that no man could kill him.
https://indradigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/R-4-1536x1152.jpeg
Due to this boon, the demon had become very powerful and had also become very tyrannical, due to which he had also defeated many gods, then the gods worshipped Goddess Durga and Goddess Durga fought with Mahishasura for 9 days. On the other hand, Lord Rama fasted on Navratri to worship Shakti before the battle with Ravana. or Ravana was killed on the tenth day. This festival is also seen as the victory of Rama and the defeat of Ravana.
Cultural Significance of fast
Navratri festival is celebrated in different forms in different parts of India like in Gujarat, people play dandiya, do garba and go to new places. In Maharashtra too, Garba and Dandiya are celebrated a lot. While in West Bengal this festival is celebrated in a different way, in the last five days Goddess Durga is worshipped, her very huge idols are installed and.
On the tenth day, it is immersed. This festival is also very important in North India, people in Uttar India keep fast, on this day people worship the Mother Goddess, this puja lasts for eight days, on the ninth day, nine girls are honored by sitting as a goddess.
What are Navratri rules and fast
Fasting during the Navratri festival is considered very virtuous, people who fast use satvik food and stay away from non-vegetarian things. The purpose of this festival is not only physical penance, spiritual but also mental and spiritual purification.
The rules of this fast are as follows
Eating fruits at a time or drinking only water
According to this fast, one should eat satvik food once a day
Those who observe this fast should exercise physical and mental restraint
As I just told you, Goddess Durga is worshipped in this fast, so this fast also rules that during this time the Goddess should be worshipped
Last Day of Dussehra Navratri
The festival of Dussehra comes on the tenth day of Navratri Festival, or rather, the festival of Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day, on this day Sri Rama God declared the victory of good over evil by killing Ravana. And Maa Durga also killed Mahishasura and won good over evil, on this day effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, Kumbhakarna are burnt.
Navratri Festivals and Modern Society
The festival of Navratri is considered very important not only from religious point of view but also from social point of view, this Navratri Festival is celebrated in general, Goddess Durga is worshipped collectively, which promotes the feeling of unity. Fairs are organized on the day of good Navratri; a large number of people participate in it.
Conclusion
From this festival, we get the education that no matter how complex the evil is, 1 day it definitely ends, as we have just seen, Durga Maa had won by killing Mahishasura, victory of good over evil. On the other hand, we get another example where Lord Ram killed Ravana and won good over evil.
Navratri festival is an integral part of Indian culture, it is important not only from religious and spiritual point of view but also from social and cultural point of view. On the day of Navratri, people worship Goddess Durga to awaken their inner and outer powers.

What is Online Durga Puja?
Online Durga puja is performed during the Navaratri. We worship Durga Maa in 9 different Avatars during the auspicious occasion of Navaratri. Let us know the nine avatars of Maa Durga,
Sailaputri: The first day of Navaratri celebrates worshipping Maa Sailapurti.
Brahmacharini: The 2nd day is celebrated by praying the Brahmacharini rupaa of Maa Durga.
Chandraghanta: Devi Chandraghanta is worshiped during the 3rd day of Navratri or Durga puja anushthan.
Kushmanda: The 4th day of Navaratri, and Maa Durga is worshipped as Kushmanda, the Ashtabhuja Devi.
Skanda Mata: On the 5th day of Navaratri, Maa Durga is worshipped as the mother of Skanda, the Katrikeya. She is also known as Padmasana as she sits in Padam or Lotus here.
Katyaynai: In this form, Maa Durga takes the form of Maa Katyaynai. She killed the ferocious demon Mahasasur in this avatar. Katyayani is worshipped on the 6th day of Navaratri.
Kalratri: In this fierce avatar, Maa Durga removed her golden skin and attained the dark avatar to kill Sumbha and Nishumbha. Kalratri puja is performed on the 7th day of Navaratri, or Durga Puja.
Mahagauri: In this form, Maa Durga is worshipped as Mahagauri on the 8th day of Navaratri. Maa wears only a white dress in this form and she is compared to Conch, Kunda flower, and Moon due to the extravagant fair complexion.
Siddhidatri: Maa Durga is worshipped as Maa Siddhidatri. She is prayed by Rudra in this form. The puja takes place on the last day, the 9th day of Navaratri for the overall well-being of devotees and the universe.

Maa Kalratri : The Goddess of 7th Day of Navratri
Tumblr media
Maa Kalratri is one of the forms of the Hindu goddess Durga, who is worshipped during the Navratri festival in India. She is often depicted as a fierce and dark-complexioned goddess with long, flowing hair and four hands, holding a cleaver and a torch in two of her hands and showing the abhaya and varada mudras in her other two hands.
The story of Maa Kalratri goes back to the time when the demon Raktabeej had become invincible due to a boon from Lord Brahma. Every drop of his blood that fell to the ground gave rise to a new demon, making it impossible to kill him. The gods then turned to Goddess Durga for help.
Goddess Durga took the form of Maa Kalratriand went to battle with Raktabeej. She swallowed him and his blood before it could touch the ground, thus preventing the creation of new demons. Kalratri’s fierce form and the ability to swallow demons whole is said to have terrified even the bravest of warriors.
The importance of Maa Kalratri lies in the fact that she represents the power of destruction and transformation. Devotees believe that worshipping Maa Kalratri can help them overcome their fears and obstacles and empower them with courage and inner strength. She is also believed to protect her devotees from negative energies and evil forces.
Maa Kalratri is also associated with the Muladhara chakra, which is believed to be the centre of stability, grounding, and survival instincts. Devotees of Maa Kalratri believe that meditating on her can help them balance this chakra and find inner stability and strength in times of difficulty.

Worship Maa Kaalratri - Durga Devi on the 7th day of Navaratri
Tumblr media
🌹 Worship Maa Kaalratri - Durga Devi on the 7th day of Navaratri 🌹
The 7th day of Navaratri is dedicated to Maa Kalratri, the 7th Avtar of Maa Durga. Here, Kaal means time and death and Kaalratri means the One who is the Death of Kaal. Maa Kalratri destroys ignorance and brings light into the dark. Well, this form also depicts the dark side - the super power that creates havoc and removes all things bad and dirty. But to Her devotees, She brings calmness and courage.
Maa Kaalratri has dark complexion. Donkey is Her mount, She has bountiful hair and four hands. One of the two left hands holds a cleaver and the other holds a torch, and the right two hands are in "giving" and "protecting" mudras. She has three eyes emanate rays like lightning and Her necklace is shining like thunder. When She inhales and exhales air, flames appear through Her nostrils. Ganesha advises you to wear Blue, Read and White colour on this day.
Kaalratri is the most fierce one among the nine durgas , simply because she gives the highest realization to her devotee by annihilating his / her mortal limitations and grants them fearlessness. Her fierceness represents her higher intensity , as even her ornaments are nothing else but high voltage electric waves . Highly intense means she gives transcendence to her bhakta easily by making them quickly suffer their accumulation of past mortal karmas.
She is meditated upon in a form with untied long hair , she is digambara or naked as she is the entire cosmos and their can hardly be any clothes made for her as external covering because she is everything . She holds a shinny sword and a Vajra ( thunderbolt ) in left upper and lower hand and abhaya and Vara mudras in right upper and lower hands . She's seated on a gardabh / donkey , which shows that every creature is beloved of Divine Mother . Her face expression is Raudramukhi / fierce with wide big open eyes and a gentle smile on her lips.
🍀. Spiritual Significance 🍀
In Durga Saptashati , Kaalratri is mentioned along with the three spiritual nights . Kaalratri means the night of dissolution. As earlier told her ornaments and body are charged electric waves which reveals that anything which goes close to her will merge / dissolve in her . She'll release them from mortality , hence she grants Moksha or liberation to her devotees . She is also called Shubhankari for the same reason in shastras , as Moksha the highest transcendental liberation which is difficult to experience is granted easily by her . Easy means the fruits of selfless Sadhna will yield auspicious results with her grace.
Maa teaches us that sorrow, pain, decay, destruction and death are unavoidable and cannot be ignored. These are the truths of life and denying them is futile. We must accept their presence and significance to realise the fullness of our being and our potential.
Kaalratri is also called Bhayankari , the dangerous one whose name itself terrorises the demons and all other negative forces. She destroys fear in her devotee's mind and grants them wisdom to cross the ocean of samsara / physical life effortlessly.
🌷Mantra and other Facts Recite the below-mentioned Mantras to get the blessing from the almighty Maa Kalratri.
ॐ देवी कालरात्र्यै नमः
Om Devi Kalaratryai Namah
या देवी सर्वभू‍तेषु माँ कालरात्रि रूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः
Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Ma Kalaratri Rupena Samsthita Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah
Performing necessary rituals and chanting of mantras are important for a successful Puja. A Puja performed with correct Vedic rituals and mantras can help you bring positivity to your life and do away with the negativity. Gain the maximum out of your personalised Puja performed by our adept Panditji.
Although the Goddess Kalaratri is the most ferocious form of Goddess Durga, she blesses her devotees with Abhaya and Varada Mudras. Because of her Shubh or auspicious power within her ferocious form Goddess Kalaratri is also known as Goddess Shubhankari.
