Hello!! I've been reading your fic a pound of flesh. I love it so much and I think it's such an original and unique story. I also love how you write Voldemort a lot. He's so inhuman and yet talks to himself. He's exceptionally cruel too 😁. Thankyou so much for sharing your work. Also if you don't mind answering when did you first come up with the idea for this story???

OH BOY THIS IS SO FUN THANK YOUUUU FOR ASKING SO this started out as a prompt for Captivous Fest, basically that Harry is wounded badly during the tournament and Voldemort puts him back together.

And immediately I thought of one of my favorite sci-fi tropes, the idea of a person exchanging their human parts for synthetic parts and how the loss of the human form contributes to a sort of...detachment from their bodies/seeing themselves as objects.

One of the most well known versions of this trope is in the 80s movie Robocop and also a remake from a few years ago.

This scene in particular was a MAJOR inspiration, where Mr. Robocop discovers how little of his body actually remains. The visceral horror in his eyes...well of course I wanted to do that to Harry. HAHHAHAHAHAH. (Other examples of this trope are in games such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance) So the thought process was like prompt -> robocop inspo -> harry the torso.

And then various other things, like this dude from fallout made me want him to be a little burned bandage boy:

CONQUER - ALTERNATE ENDINGS

Hiya! I mentioned an alternate ending for my fic Conquer. My reasoning for this is I wanted to commit to an ambiguous ending, because i have to be dragged kicking and screaming away from just making everything I write HEA. Anyway here they are:

The alternate ending has two parts. Part One can be read on it's own, as a sad/mutually assured destruction ending. Part Two is meant to continue on from Part One into the happiest possible ending I can picture for this version of Voldemort and Harry. Anyway this is unbeta'd and copied from my notes so dont mind if she's a mess.

Alternate Epilogue (Part One):

Red spots the snow–Harry follows it like a beacon to track his prey. The trail leads to a lonely cottage nestled in the wood, the broken front door yawning open like a hungry mouth. Bodies litter the floor inside, their remains still steaming in the night air. Voldemort beckons Harry forward and laughs as he is shoved to the bloodstained floorboards.

Spells clash over sodden earth, bare feet and combat boots trampling the first tentative bulb shoots of spring. Harry takes him against the churned earth, his fingers painting streaks of mud across the Dark Lord’s porcelain skin. This time Voldemort takes what he wants from Harry—clutching him close to capture every drop of seed. Harry leaves him sodden with filth, his hole leaking with the chosen one’s consecration.

The air boils as the seventh month dies, a thick heat wave blanketing the continent. Sweat drips down Harry’s face, mixing with blood and tears. The short nights are spent burying the dead, while the long days are lost to fighting. Voldemort finds him at the mass grave, clutching a shovel, piling dirt on yet another loved one lost to senseless war. Harry falls into him and breaks open, sobbing against the monster that caused all of this until his exhausted body slips into unconsciousness. The Dark Lord disappears with the dawn, and Harry heaves his weary body back to work.

Fallen leaves crunch around their heads, red maple and yellow hawthorn. The setting sun casts them in warmth as the air stinks of spellfire and creation. They brawl like muggles, with teeth and fists and blood. By the time Harry pins him he’s delirious, his cock straining his jeans, a thin stream of blood the only thing easing his way into the body of his enemy. He ruins him, again and again and again, until the light in the sky snuffs out.

The world burns around them. Ravenous flames lick the sky as if they could swallow the moon whole. Walpurgites and Order members stand shoulder to shoulder, wands out, sweat dripping down their faces as the Fiendfyre beasts slash at their shields. The Dark Lord stands at the center of the firestorm, hand outstretched, welcoming Harry to their final coupling. Harry takes his hand—bony, clammy fingers—and raises it to his lips. As gales of fire descend upon them Harry pulls Voldemort against him one last time.

In the morning only ashes remain. They swirl through the ruin of a destroyed society as sworn enemies and heated rivals lay down their arms to salvage what is left. A stalemate, a deadlock, the Boy-Who-Lived and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named removed from the equation in a single moment. There’s nothing left to bury.

Alternate Ending (Part Two):

In his dreams, Harry can't quite make out their faces. Hermione’s dimples, Ron’s freckles, Luna’s curls—they blur and distort. Are they happy, now? Has peace scrubbed the premature wrinkles from their foreheads, the bruise-blue hollows beneath their eyes? The dream twists and morphs into something else. Shades and blades and fire, fire, fire. A cool, soothing hand touches his forehead. It traces his browline, back and forth, back and forth, and something inside of him settles. The dream fades to darkness and he sleeps.

Harry wakes to red. Slitted eyes lock with green, the expression animal and alien. Disoriented, Harry looks around. Today it is a chalet nestled between the jagged torn edges of mountain peaks. Before it was yurts in vast plains, or monasteries dug into solid stone. They’ve passed over deserts and forests and walked from the Pacific to the Mediterranean and back again. The hole inside his love grows hungrier each year, a greed so fathomless it may still consume them all.

With each discovery and study session, with each master they meet and grimoire they translate, their power grows. Harry and Voldemort, fire and water, light and darkness. One day, Voldemort will become restless again. Whether it’s here or back home or at the other side of the world, he will reach for power with talons outstretched. But for now, in the soft bed of this chalet, Harry lets himself admire the moonlight casting his lover’s skin a shade of lilac. The cheekbones and jaw that are the only remains of his hated muggle father’s face. The flat ridge of his nose and his flawlessly smooth pate. Unthinking, as naturally as a morning stretch, Harry reaches for him. He takes that face in his broad hands and feels the cheeks warm beneath his fingers. Harry kisses him with finality; the punctuation at the end of a run-on sentence.

For now, this is enough.
