okay so Antimony is both a translator and also a JSON-er. What does that mean? Well, translation obviously means translations, but JSONers are the ones who get the text into game via coding.

I'm lucky enough to see Antimony's progress when she's working on a project sometimes. Surprisingly, JSON work can still involve some translation stuff, because occasionally you need to shorten a sentence/rework a sentence so it's not doing stuff like the above picture. It's not just "put text in and publish" but a lot of work to make sure the linebreaks are in the right place, that the words are matching the character animations, or that the quote text isn't still writing out what they're saying while the character stopped talking two minutes ago.

So it's a funny meta joke but also it's about a problem that the JSONers have intimate knowledge with, hehe.

Okay so: fun fact! Antimony and BST are the pair who did the translating for the Puella Historia events! See, they also are the ones who translated the Star Yachiyo event (as a gift for me because I love stars, I love them both so much ;_; ) and since Tsuyu and Chizuru are both first mentioned in the Star Yachiyo event, they felt pretty connected to them and wanted to translate their Puella Historia one. And then since they did one, they decided to do another, and if they do another then they really ought to do the rest so....

I mention this 'cause, you know, "Battle Maiden" is what they went with for "magical girl" and idk I just think that is cool. I like that apparently Tsuyu is just. going by her magical girl title. in public?

Are there any idols out there that go by "magical girl"? that would be cool. There should be, and they should have a rad transformation sequence every time they come out on stage.

Alright! Time to liveblog MUT FEASTA: Episode 2, written by the lovely Antimony!

MUT Feasta is a fanmade project where a bunch of folks from MUT (the fan translators) collaborated for months to create this fun little story. For MUT's anniversary, they'll release cute lil event stories. Each story is written by a different person and contains an interview at the end (not necessarily the writer of that select story).

Antimony has been a JSON RAMPAGE as of late, so I promised that my next liveblog would be something she picked, and she picked the episode she wrote!

I really liked the one she wrote last year, where she did a good job making Rion likeable. Like god damn. girl doesn't make things easy on herself, that's for sure.

Now then, let's see... From what I recall, this episodes has Sayuki meet Tsuyu and Chizuru? And I think she does a performance on stage with them? I'm not entirely sure, but I'm excited! It's 7 minutes long so it's perfect for my adhd. Let's get started!

I believe that FeenixMork is the one who did a lot of the custom art for this one! The icecream becoming more arcane and spooky is a riff on it occurring in the puella historia (modern day segments) which is pretty cute.

There's an interview after this but as luck has it, something irl needs my attention so I'm gonna stop here.

Anyways, I really enjoyed this quick and cute little episode, and I think it's a cute and good one to watch. I appreciate the way that Antimony uses characters that aren't often seen and gives them new, fun little roles. I also really like how her meta jokes are tied into the translation process, like little easter eggs. I think meta can be overdone (I'm not calling anyone out with this, I fell way behind with the Feasta project and need to catch up) but I think that short and sweet is the way to do it.

yeah when I think of a legendary warrior, my first thought is Sayuki, the only other girl in the cast who could give Moka a run for her money in the brains department

ALL JOKES ASIDE

I think this was a very clever choice. Sayuki is OBSESSED with swords and has intense historical knowledge over them. I think that linking her with Tsuyu/Chizuru is a very neat choice-- additionally, Tsuyu Mizuna is. Well you know, if Tsuyu was in the modern times, she'd be a Mizuna student and that's the same school Sayuki goes to so it all fits really.

Oh man, that means that "Taito" Chizuru would be a Daito student. Tsuyu/Chizu would be like a romeo juliet sort of thing... maybe it could end a little better though? It didn't work out so well in the real timeline either ;_;

Oh man, does that mean Sayuki is part of the mirrors witch in the alt timeline. What does. What does that look like.

I was going to try and joke about Tsuyu being in her magical girl outfit but tbh Sayuki always performs in her magical girl outfit so I guess that's just how idols work

Man it's been forever but OF COURSE it's Himena's fault.

Sayuki proceeds to then go through her memories and recall what happened up to this point. I like how it's handled as a catch-up. We get a short recap/reminder of what happened but it doesn't take too long and it feels very realistic for a character to retrace her steps and try to remember what happened.

Good writing is also about being succinct.
