I'm having some trouble, so I thought I would come on here and ask if any more tech-savvy people know what's causing me problems:

So last week I bought myself a new laptop, it's an MSI Cyborg 15 A12UCX, with an Intel Core i5 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX, 8GB of ram, 64-bit operating system.

When I looked at it, it seemed pretty good to run modded stardew valley on, however when I booted up the game with my mods (approx 135 altogether) I began to experience some lag and what I can only describe as visual glitching?

Now I'm used to lagging, my old laptop I got in 2020 as a birthday present, and it was HP with AMD Athlon Gold 3150U and Radeon Graphics, again 8GB of ram and 64-bit operating system. But the lag I experienced on my old laptop was very occasional, like a short pause when walking, slower loading times to open up inventory, it took 30 seconds to save the game overnight. Nothing debilitating, just a little patience.

But I hit the mines of day 5 and suddenly every 10–20 seconds I'm experiences full-blown pauses, for like 15 seconds, or my movements begin lagging behind.

The visual glitches that I was experiencing earlier were like light flashes over the top of my screen that occur maybe every 20 seconds? Just like a lighter brightness setting almost, in triangle or hexagonal shapes over the top half of my screen for a few milliseconds before disappearing just as fast. I seemed to mitigate it by removing the dynamic reflections mod which I added as an afterthought when redownloading my mods because I didn't have it before, but it's still there on occasion after removal.

I did add a few extra mods that I hadn't had in there before, so unless Wildflour's artisan mod set or Elle's Town Buildings has done something, I'm not totally sure what could cause this.

My only other idea is that I didn't start or play on a save before adding the mods other than running SMAPI once in order for it to work properly. Maybe I have to move my mods, undownload SMAPI play an unmodded save for a few in-game days then try again?

Like, you'd think the MSI would be better at running something pretty light like stardew (even modded, it ran basically like a dream on my shitty HP laptop all things considered), it works perfectly well in any other instance. Hell, it works fine with Minecraft (which I tested to see if this was a stardew problem or a gaming problem), which is notorious for running shitty. Admittedly, I only ran minecraft for like 5 minutes because I don't have a mouse on me (yet) and I find it a pain in the ass to work the controls, but it ran much better than it ever did on my HP.

Really I'm just troubleshooting right now, so if any more tech smart people than me has any idea what could possibly be going on with stardew could you even just through out an idea?

so i was at best buy recycling a laptop and a phone and

1. i think i know the person who was checking us out (because you recycle electronics at the checkout)

2. they initially said there was a $30 fee for recycling laptops

2-A. i didnt see anything online about that
