A quick look at the Class 2 High School Soccer playoff results and calendar. I caught the final 20 minutes Tuesday at Lutheran St. Charles who are hosting the District 7 tournament. The Duchesne Pioneers defeated first year program Orchard Farm in the opener to advance to the final.

In the late game, the St. Charles West Warriors got three goals from Max Wootten Tuesday while earning a 5-1 victory over Lutheran St. Charles in their District 7 semifinal. I wouldn’t have been able to determine who was winning without the scoreboard as the first play I saw was a fine run down the right by Lutheran with a cross that just missed the runner at the far post. Two good opportunities were denied by the Warriors keeper as well but in the end St. Charles West held off a Lutheran offense that suffered from missed opportunities much of the year.

The win sends St. Charles West to the Final on Thursday where they’ll face the Duchesne Pioneers for the third time this season. The two regular season matches were both 3-2 wins for Duchesne but as Wootten notes in my post-game interview, it’s tough beating a team three times.

The MSHSAA High School soccer playoffs continue with District Finals, and one rain postponed semifinal. I plan on covering the Webster Groves vs Rockwood Summit Class 3 match followed by a short trip over to SLUH to catch their game with Chaminade.
