Dhoni’s unacceptable act is criticised after a heated chat with umpires over Pathirana
On Tuesday evening, MS Dhoni added another milestone to his legacy as he guided the Chennai Super Kings to their 10th IPL final. The four-time IPL winners defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans by 15 runs.
Tumblr media
However, the journey is not yet over for the titles; they are going to get another chance to meet CSK at the finals if they manage to defeat the winners of the eliminator match between Lucknow Super giants and Mumbai Indians in their next encounter, i.e., Qualifier 2.
MS Dhoni, as usual, was spot on with most of his on-field decisions, but there was one particular incident that did not go well with the fans and also with the batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, who had taken the autograph of Dhoni on his shirt a few days earlier.
The incident took place before the 15th over of the Gujarat chase, when Dhoni was seen engaged in a discussion with the umpire. Although it was not very clear at the start, later on it was pointed out by many that it was a deliberate time-wasting strategy by the captain of the Chennai Super Kings. Pathirana was getting ready to bowl his second over but was not allowed by the umpire because he had not been on the field for the same amount of time as he had been off it.
After this, Dhoni kept the umpire engaged until the time elapsed as other CSK players surrounded the officials. They held up play for around 4 minutes before Pathirana was allowed to bowl again. While reacting to this incident, Gavaskar said, “You accept the umpire’s decision. Even if the umpire gets it wrong sometimes in high-pressure situations,”

The former India skipper has already retired from international cricket back in 2020 and now he will bid adieu to IPL cricket as well. A Chennai Super Kings (CSK) official confirmed that Dhoni is playing his final season in IPL 2023 and will bow out as a skipper. “Yes, it will…

Do you think the BCCI should ask Rohit to retire gracefully (as in not sack/drop him) at the end of this the WTC cycle? in any other situation this kind of a series loss would have called for sacking of the captain and coach.
Is Bumrah ready to captain ICT full term? That includes him staying fit for almost all matches of a series.
And I agree with you statements on Gambhir. Now he's going to realise how hard it is to coach a cricket team. Every time that mf opened his mouth it was to spew nonsense about Dhoni, Kohli, Shastri, etc. Karma is just coming back for that man.
Thank you for the ask!!! Already apologizing because I have a lot to say on this matter and this will get very looonggg, you've been warned.
See I believe that ICT will undergo a transitional phase very soon. The seniors will hang up their boots soon after the finals (if we reach there) or in the midst of the next cycle cz I definitely don't think most of them will play another full cycle. As much I hate to see them go, it's kind of inevitable though about Rohit (and by extension Kohli) retiring, I think it's still too early to make statements like this before BGT because that will be their last chance to step up otherwise I think some harsh calls need to be made. I desperately hope that they get their form back because Jaddu and Ash are doing well tbh, they won't be dropped or asked to retire because of their performance.
And I also agree that Dhoni or Kohli would have been publicly slandered after this kind of loss but Rohit did come forward and took responsibility (atleast after the 3rd test) although the interviewers should've been sterner rather than asking about the positives and feelings (I remember clips of Atherton properly grilling MS in 2011 after 3-0 loss in England). But we also have to keep in mind that a huge series is coming up and we can't afford captaincy changes now considering Rohit is actually a good captain in most situations. Though I do think that a transition should be placed into effect with Bumrah playing a bigger role in leadership and daresay even captaining dead rubber matches. His availability will be an issue taking in point that he's India's main bowler in all formats but his fitness won't cause problems imo if he doesn't play pointless bilaterals.
Lastly on Gambhir, what do I even say? I grudgingly respect him as a player but his constant credit narrative and baseless statements do bother me a lot. I don't know about limited overs but his position as a coach in red ball cricket should be reviewed and, same as the seniors of the team, BGT should be the stage for him to perform. His performance (mind you as a mentor, Chandrakant Pandit was the actual coach who literally built the side) in IPL got him the position but he will have to prove himself.
I may be criticizing them right now but I'll definitely be the happiest if they perform well (yes even GG) and chahe jitna bhi gussa karlu at the end of the day sabse ladkar inhi ko support karungi. So to all the people sending me asks calling players names and all, pls stop. Even if they're going through a bad patch, they're still national players who have done more for India than all of you combined. Learn the difference between criticism and hate.

caravan magazine's series of articles on justice loya's death really drives in the sheer hopelessness of our justice system
Other questions, too, remain unanswered. Why was the family not informed when Loya was taken to hospital? Why were they not informed as soon as he died? Why were they not asked for approval of a post-mortem, or informed that one was to be performed, before the procedure was carried out? Who recommended the post-mortem, and why? What was suspicious about Loya’s death to cause a post-mortem to be recommended? What medication was administered to him at Dande Hospital? Was there not a single vehicle in Ravi Bhavan—which regularly hosts VIPs, including ministers, IAS and IPS officers and judges—available to ferry Loya to hospital?
According to Biyani, “My brother was offered a bribe of 100 crore in return for a favourable judgment. Mohit Shah, the chief justice, made the offer himself.” She added that Mohit Shah told her brother that if “the judgment is delivered before 30 December, it won’t be under focus at all because at the same time, there was going to be another explosive story which would ensure that people would not take notice of this.”
[...]
On 30 December, around one month after Loya’s death, Gosavi upheld the defence’s argument that the CBI had political motives for implicating the accused. With that, he discharged Amit Shah. The same day, news of MS Dhoni’s retirement from test cricket dominated television screens across the country. As Biyani recounted, “There was just a ticker at the bottom which said, ‘Amit Shah not guilty. Amit Shah not guilty.’”
It is unlikely that the frenzied activity the judges described in their statements was a quiet affair. The deterioration of Loya’s health, the call Kulkarni placed to Barde, the subsequent arrival of Barde and Rathi in the car, the conversation between the judges when Loya came “down,” and the eventual departure of the judges with the ailing Loya for Dande hospital—all would have likely caused a significant amount of noise, if not a downright commotion.
Yet, according to the 17 current and former employees of Ravi Bhawan, none of the staff members who were on duty that night—from reception, to room service and miscellaneous duties—realised that a guest had been taken to the hospital early in the morning on 1 December 2014. “We didn’t even know that one of the judges staying at our premises at that time had died. We only found out when the papers started writing about it [in 2017] and the inquiry began,” the third employee I met told me. Fifteen of the 17 current and former employees told me that they learned of Loya’s death the same way. The remaining two were not even aware that a guest had died until I interviewed them.
[...]
The question of Loya’s personal belongings is key: The Caravan reported earlier that according to Loya’s sister, Anuradha Biyani, the family was handed the judge’s phone three days after his death. Who took out Loya’s personal belongings from Ravi Bhawan—and whether he was in fact staying there—remains unclear. That 17 current and former employees of Ravi Bhawan had no knowledge of his death until three years later, and could not recall any details regarding the chain of events the judges described, reiterates the troubling nature of the circumstances surrounding Loya’s death.

Neither Virat nor Sachin but this former player has fame as the richest cricketer in the world
Tumblr media
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the richest cricket board in the world today. Today Indian cricketers also get big contracts. Even at the domestic level, players get good contracts. But do you know who is the richest cricketer in the world? Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni or someone else, today BCCI provides everything to the cricketers. Even in the IPL, Indian and international players definitely get some big contracts. In the history of IPL 2023, Pat Cummins had the highest bid. This year Rishabh Pant has got a contract of 27 crores in IPL. You might be surprised when you hear that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are not the richest cricketers in the world.
This title goes to Ajay Jadeja. The former Indian cricketer was named the heir to the Jamnagar Royal throne of Gujarat some time ago. Announced by Maharaja Jamsaheb of Nawanagar during Dussehra, Jadeja inherited wealth worth more than Rs 1,450 crore. This further connects the Jamnagar royal family to cricket as the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy are named after Jadeja’s relatives, KS Ranjit Singh and KS Duleep Singh. Nowadays Ajay Jadeja does commentary during matches. He was last seen doing commentary during the Test series between India and New Zealand.
While Sachin Tendulkar is second on this list, his net worth is Rs 1250 crore approximately $170 million. He holds the record of a leading run-scorer. He has endorsement deals with brands like Adidas, BMW, Pepsi and Visa. He even co-owns the Kerala Blasters football team in the Indian Super League.
Virat Kohli, who retired from T20I cricket after India’s World Cup win, has an estimated net worth of ₹1,050 crore. He is one of the global athletes. He has the 2nd most centuries in international cricket. Because of Virat Kohli, Cricket is now an official part of the Olympics. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has a net worth of around ₹1,000 crore to his name. He is the only captain of India who won the T20 World Cup, 50 over World Cup, Champions Trophy and ICC test mace. After these legends, Australian legend Ricky Ponting comes on the list with a net worth of $70 million. West Indies’s Former Captain Brian Lara has a net worth of $60 million.

Why is Sachin Tendulkar known as “The god of cricket” ?
Tumblr media
Sachin Tendulkar, the player who became the breath of Indian cricket fans for 2 decades. Perhaps today's kids don't know the legacy of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. There was a time when Sachin was on the field, the crowd would just cheer him and when Sachin walks to the pavilion, it means the crowd goes back home. He has the most runs, most centuries, most half-centuries in international cricket. He is the first player in the world to score a double century in ODIs. After his retirement of 12 years, today's phenomenal batsman chased his records. Sachin was one of those batsmen who stayed at the crease and India never lost a match. If we look at the statistics of this legend, we get to know about his aura.
He has 34357 international runs including 100 centuries in all formats. The man whose fans travel thousands of miles to see him. It is because of him that modern-day greats like Virat Kohli, world-winning captain MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and many other players started playing cricket.  Apart from this, there are many players around the world who got inspired by this great player. Sachin Tendulkar scored 15921 Test runs including 51 centuries and 68 fifties. He scored 18426 runs including 49 centuries and 96 fifties. He also played a T20I match against South Africa where he scored 10 runs and also took a wicket of Justin Kemp. Even his bowling figures are incredible where he took 154 ODI wickets, 46 Test wickets and one wicket in T20I. Very few people know but he was also a great fielder where he took 256 international catches.
Sachin had only one dream in his early career to win the 50-over World Cup. He did everything to win the World Cup but he failed in the first 5 World Cups. In the 2003 World Cup, he scored 673 runs but he failed in the final and India lost. In 2007, the Indian team was eliminated early in the World Cup where India lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the group matches.
At that time Sachin started thinking about his retirement but a phone call from Viv Richards changed his life. If Richards had not suggested that he play one more World Cup, Sachin's dream of winning the World Cup would never have been fulfilled. Apart from international cricket, Sachin also played 861 domestic matches including List A and first class where he scored 47395 runs. He has 141 centuries and 230 50+ scores in domestic cricket.
In the 2011 World Cup, Sachin was the 2nd leading run scorer where he scored 482 runs including 2 hundreds and 2 fifties. Due to Sachin's innings, India was able to reach such cricket scores many times from where India could win the match. In the semifinal, he scored 85 against Pakistan in Mohali.
Nov 16 2013, Sachin played his last international match in Wankhede. After the match, Sachin praised the 22 yard pitch and thanked his teammates and fans. Indian cricket fans were really sad for him. All the fans thanked Sachin for his contribution to Indian cricket. 12 years after his retirement, there are many records that belong solely to his name.

[ad_1] Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir after series loss at the SCG (PC: Debasis Sen) When the wheels come off for great teams, they unravel quickly and spectacularly. It happened to Australia under Ricky Ponting, after the legends – Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist – retired en masse. It happened to Alastair Cook’s England, who won an Ashes Down Under and a Test series in India. Indian cricket had been there before, in 2011-12, on the heels of back-to-back whitewashes in England and Australia. The current streak offers a throwback. Dressing-room discord was an issue for the Indian team in Australia in 2011-12 also, with some players – Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir in particular – singing from a different hymn sheet and having issues with MS Dhoni. The latter was on the verge of losing his Test captaincy after the series, only to be saved by then BCCI president N Srinivasan. But a squad overhaul happened. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman hung up their boots. Sachin Tendulkar would call time on his career a couple of seasons later. Sehwag would be dropped and eventually Gambhir, too, would lose his place in the team. India’s Test revival actually began in earnest when Dhoni retired mid-series in Australia in 2014-15 and Virat Kohli took over. India were ranked seventh at the time. The Kohli-and-Ravi Shastri duo would take them to the top of the tree. India became the best Test team in the world under their charge, winning matches in South Africa and England, and successive series in Australia. Gambhir is now India’s head coach and after a home series whitewash against New Zealand followed by a 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the time has come for a rejig. A new cycle will begin from June, with a five-Test series in England, and India need to start afresh. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Rohit Sharma having a discussion with Jasprit Bumrah and Gautam Gambhir (Photo: Debasis Sen) It is learnt that some high-profile departures are on the cards, as the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee and the BCCI look ahead. Ravichandran Ashwin announced his shock retirement after the Brisbane Test. According to sources, his ‘partner in crime’ for many years, Ravindra Jadeja, is on his way out as well. Moving forward, Axar Patel is going to be the team’s premier spin-bowling all-rounder. Mohammed Shami missed the Test series in Australia, for he couldn’t make a full recovery. The 34-year-old fast bowler is likely to return for the Champions Trophy, but there’s a big question mark over his red-ball future. Bigger questions involving the galacticos, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have to be answered. There’s a school of thought that Rohit, who stood himself down in Sydney, has already played his last Test, a belligerent TV interview, rubbishing retirement rumours, notwithstanding. “I don’t see Rohit going to England,” Gilchrist said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast. In fact, the legendary former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman even suggested that the upcoming Champions Trophy could be Rohit’s last as far as international cricket is concerned. “I think he will probably have a crack at the Champions Trophy and that might be (it). That might see him out.” Rohit Sharma at the SCG (PC: Debasis Sen) According to a BCCI insider, apart from the next Test cycle, the 2027 World Cup, too, is firmly on the head coach’s mind, and a new-look side would be given enough time to bed in. Phasing out is going to be the order of the day. What about Kohli? He is Indian cricket’s biggest brand. Also, notwithstanding his elongated form slump, he is the only bonafide batting great in the current Test team. Some reports suggest that the 36-year-old wants the England series in the summer to be his swansong. But Shastri believes that Kohli still has a role to play, with the Indian team heading towards transition. “So, I think the contributing factor to this team is transition and the youngsters coming through the ranks,” the former India head coach told ICC Review.
“There are a lot of guys (young players) there who can benefit from the experience of a player of Virat Kohli’s calibre.” Agarkar and Gambhir will have to make some tricky calls, as Indian cricket enters a new phase.
