SHE GOT ME FEELING THOSE MOTH EMOTIONS AGAIN

THE FACT THAT THE OVERALL ALBUM FOLLOWS A NARRATIVE OF GRADUALLY FALLING INTO DEPRESSION AND/OR ADDICTION AND FEELING LIKE THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE YOU’RE CONVINCED THAT YOU WERE DESTINED TO BE LIKE THIS AND THEN ALWAYS KNOWING WHAT YOU WERE GETTING INTO/WHAT YOU’RE DOING TO YOURSELF BUT EVENTUALLY IT FINALLY HITS YOU THAT YOU’RE SPEEDING TOWARDS THE POINT OF NO RETURN AND NOT NECESSARILY RECOVERING BUT AT LEAST BEGINNING TO COME TO TERMS WITH THE IDEA THAT YOU NEED TO TURN EVERYTHING AROUND DESPITE THE “COMFORT” YOU’VE FOUND IN IT AND DESPITE THE STRUGGLE YOU KNOW IT’S GONNA BE BUT IT’S THE PATH YOU’VE CHOSEN TO TAKE BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU’VE BEEN FLIRTING WITH DEATH BUT YOU’RE NOT READY TO DIE YET HAS ME IN A FUCKING CHOKEHOLD YOU HAVE NO IDEA

(i haven’t done a designated “sit down and overanalyze each individual song” listen through yet admittedly though)

it’s super interesting to me too that she just really gave us the big middle chunk of the album, with really only a handful of releases shuffled, too! the thread was obviously still there, but we (or i at least) couldn’t totally draw it for certain until the full release

i know i said that kissing death was gonna be blue hour 2 for me, and it totally feels like it is emotionally and personally lmao, but this almost feels like the prequel, re: the overall narrative and oh my god i fucking LOVE IT
