This Fic is one of my favs it’s Gaalee modern Au and it centres around Lee driving Gaara home and everytime I read it I love it even more 😭

I’ve planned out some fics with this trope but I don’t think I’ll ever actually do anything with them

This one is my nemesis fic. It's almost entirely posted (here) and I have only one scene left to write!! (This month, hopefully.)

I started it in fall 2021 as the third increment to my first modern AU. It's a KankuKiba fic about psychotic + chronically ill Kankurou joining the Team 8 polycule and learning to build community with other disabled people. With lots of Sand Sibling bonding (it's the same AU as the GaaLee fic, it's set shortly after) and a tiny bit of SasoKisa in the background.

Don't get me wrong, I like it by many aspects. But it's also the last fic I started before realising I was much more comfortable writing my multi-chapter fics entirely before starting posting them. It makes me feel less stress and pressured, it lets me take more time and take breaks when I need to air my brains out and come back to my work with fresh and rested eyes. It's been very beneficial to my writing and I feel like I have made a lot of progress in various matters since then.

And so... I like this fic, but it's also made in a way that I don't make my fics anymore, and it's hard to reconnect with it in the way that I would want to. But I like this AU, I have other fics I want to do in it, and I like this fic and I want to finish it! I've decided to make it an exercise of "the important thing is to write, and it's okay if the end product is not perfect, what matters is that you did it" and it's an important skill too.

I don't know if I sell this fic very well but, that's how writing is sometimes 😆

so like... years and years ago... god 6 years ago... i answered this ask about Suna wedding customs that is uh... extremely messy now imo but its the original foundation for Pomegranate Sun, which I'm co-writing with @ghoste-catte (though it's def been on the back burner for us). that's probably the most elaborate amount of thought ive put into what their wedding would be like in canon or an AU in all honesty, however i do have ideas for RtS if anyone wants to help sponsor that particular unplanned sequel by donating to Maryam's family in Gaza.

outside of all this, my idea of their wedding would be highly dependent on the story itself. a modern AU would be a lot less to consider and think about beyond some easy enough research, whereas a canon set fic is going to hinge on a variety of things from the political and cultural climate to at what age they'd get married and so on.

i think gaara is like expected to have like the big traditional Kazekage family wedding, but absolutely doesn't want to. he has a great love and respect, of course, for the traditions and his culture itself but he's not like big on the whole spectacle of it exactly. whereas Lee definitely wants a big wedding, but again politics do impact whether or not they can have a legal and public wedding at all.

it's hard for me to give like a super definitive answer, but i do think that at the very least they would follow a mix of traditions from Konoha and Suna for canon, and Chinese, Japanese, and Indian for a modern AU (Lee is Chinese and i headcanon that Karura is Indian and base a large chunk of Wind country on India, making the Sand Sibs half Japanese/half Indian). i think it would def be a compromise of big wedding and small--like definitely fewer people than Lee would probably invite because if he could he'd invite like strangers probably, but still with some of the grand romance Lee wants like i dunno they set off fireworks or something kinda thing. Lee definitely has like the most long-winded overly flowery and romantic vows--like he unrolls the page he wrote them on and it's just a gag where the page just... unrolls to the floor... except he cant actually get through more than a few lines cause he's sobbing and too overcome with emotion. gaara's vows are like super short and sweet and to the point--he picks like his fave line of poetry or osmething and it just reduces Lee (and Gai) to a puddle.

i cant think of what else but i think overall their wedding would be very romantic and very unique.

Friends to Friends with benefits to Lovers- I love it when the characters complicate the friendship and angst over what they are now but then it all works out in the end lol

Hanahaki- It's angsty and gross and yet beautiful at the same time. It's romantic and heart wrenching at the same time and I love that for them. The only thing is sometimes I wish there were more bad endings? I want to see a character get the flowers (and their feelings) removed because they were so certain that their feelings could never be returned, only to get a confession like two weeks after they recover.

Love Triangle becomes Polyamory- I guess I'm a big fan of lots of angst and drama but with a happy ending. I want the jealousy and pining and "I was too late" of a love triangle but after all of that I want them all to realize they can be happy together.

No Powers/Modern/Fantasy/Royal AU- It's not that I hate them, they just don't interest me at all. Usually if I'm a fan of something, I'm a fan of the setting as well, and I'd rather stick in that world. But sometimes, if it's an author I like, I'll check it out.

Pregnancy/Babies- I just can't deal with anything related to pregnancy or babies or anything like that. No thank you.

BAMFxFan- I don't like it when the portrayal of a ship is one character is a beautiful flawless perfect badass and the other character only really exists to fawn over how amazing the other character is or, even worse, exists as some sort of reward.

I love when the characters just really believe in each other and support each other's passions. Also when it's clear they're each other's best friends and can laugh together.

4.

Hair touching, like the brushing of a loose strand away from the face. Hand holding, squeezing firmly, thumbs brushing over the knuckles. The gripping of a sleeve or a belt loop to stay connected.

5.

Multiship, definitely! I like seeing all the different scenarios and dynamics that come about. Also, if I really like a character, I ship them with basically anyone I can think of, I just really like thinking about them being so loved by everyone they cross paths with.

6.

Both, doesn't really matter to me. I tend to like the less appreciated characters, so sometimes I'm in rarepair hell by default lmao. But I can't deny how good it is when you like a mainstream ship and you never run out of content.

7.

Doesn't matter to me. I usually prefer polyamory as opposed to any sort of endgame conflict.

8.

Reversible. I don't really like the idea of set roles in a ship tbh, I like things a little more flexible.

Yes, I'm just a sucker for romance, I'm afraid. Even if I'm just casually enjoying a movie or something, I'm still like "oh, they're cute together" lol

Sex isn't important to me for a ship, I'm more interested in the longing and the pining, however that can be expressed.

Platonic ships are great! Tbh I'm aroace and any portrayal of an intense, strong bond that doesn't need romance to be validated is exciting to find. But sometimes, i feel like there are some people in fandom that will use the term "platonic ship" to hate on a ship in public without using hater language

OCs in general are super fun! So why not OC kids? Sometimes I'll make OC kids for a ship I like (I still ignore the pregnancy/baby phase lmaoooo). They're usually girls.

One thing though about OC kids is I don't really like how many get named after a dead loved one? It's just a personal preference tbh but names carry so much weight and expectations sometimes and I don' believe in saddling a child with anything like that, and what if the kid wants to change the name in the future? I think I'm thinking about it too hard...
