Also, in book, there is letter of Murad IV from August 8, 1631, where she mentions his (half-)sister Gevherhan Sultan as merhume. She was dead before 1631, so that Venetian report from 1637 mentiones he has four full-blooded sisters. Gevherhan was dead before 1631, Atike wasn't Kösem's daughter, and Ayşe, Fatma and Hanzade were hers. But beside them, in payments Dumas provide from 1638, Ümmügülsüm Sultan recieved also highest payments beside three of thes and was recorded as wife of Halil Pasha. This Halil Pasha died in 1639/1640 as vizier. You can find about him in Sillic-i Osman-i. He was executed. According to payments, it seems that she was Kösem's youngest daughter. But, during reign of her brother Ibrahim, she was remarried to Ahmed Pasha, who is referes as Hersekli Ahmed pascia by Ragusan envoys (she is herself reffered by them as Smeni sultana in 1642 and Iumi sultana in 1648). I found that this was governor Ahmed Pasha who was assigned to governorship of Herzegovina in 1642. He stayed on that possition until 1646, and he was still alive in 1648. That's all I have found about him.

In book ''Whisper of the cities'' you mentioned, she was still alive during reign of her nephew Suleiman II, where she is reffered as Ümmühan Sultan, aunt of deposed Mehmed IV and sister of Ibrahim II (mistakenly, it should be I). She was still alive in 1690. There was mentioned that her relation with ambassador's wife was connection of England to Ottoman court, and that this meetings enabled this woman to overhear a rumor in June 1690 that Mehmed IV died.

I wasn't able to discover when she exactly died, but in book ''Acta et diplomata - Ragusina'' she was referred in 1655 as Vsci sultana moglie di Achmet bassa. I hope I gave interesting infos to you...

What you sent me is certainly interesting and, unless hemşire meant something else, it seems quite clear that Ümmü Gülsüm was Murad IV’s sister. I did a quick research on a dictionary and it said that hemşire means nurse in modern Turkish but it derives from Persian, and the Persian word means sister first and foremost, so it is very interesting.

About Gevherhan, I guess the mystery is finally (!!) solved: decision 414 in 85 Numarali Mühimme Defteri ****clearly calls her deceased. Also, the whole decision is about lands that were hers and that are now her daughter Safiye’s. Safiye was still a child (Öztuna says she was born in January 1630) so it seems strange that she would receive her mother’s lands as a toddler… If her mother had just died, on the other hand, she could have received them as her only heir (which she was).

Moreover, in the harem register that Dumas has translated (p. 462 of her dissertation), the first recipient is “Safiye Hanım binti Receb Pasha”— had her mother been alive, she would have received money too in February 1639. The amount is the lowest, only 3,600/month, which makes sense if Safiye was still a child at the time.

It’s also very interesting that Murad IV only calls Gevherhan “deceased” in decision 414, while Ümmü Gülsüm is referred to as “my sister” every time she’s mentioned. The same he does for Ayşe (decision 11), whom he calls “my sister Ayişe Sultan”.

It seems like all the evidence points to Ümmü Gülsüm being a daughter of Kösem’s but I just wonder why she has never been “discovered” until now. I mean, 85 Numarali Mühimme Defteri was transliterated in 2002 but the harem register has been around for so long. It is quite weird that this princess, who constantly (I assume) appears in harem registers as a recipient of a stipend, first as a princess who lives in the palace (the privy purse register dated 1622 in Tezcan) and later as a married one (the harem register in Dumas) could have just escaped the eyes of hundreds of historians. Also, where was she buried? This keeps me up at night.

Do you think Smeni e Iumi are the same person? I get Iumi but Smeni is so different. Vsci, which is Usci, makes more sense as it could be a crasis between Ümmü and Gülsüm

Hi Ana. My best friend recently met someone and they've been talking, but I have some concerns. The first being that this person had asked my best friend for a commitment ring, but they've only known each other for a month. The other thing is that they travel between 2 states for work and wants to stay with my bestie whenever they visit. They have already started demanding certain changes to be made in my best friend's house like more pillows, different rugs, etc. I am so concerned, Ana. They also said that they want to get married 8 years from now, but wants my bestie to stay committed to them. My gut tells me this is bad, but may I have your insight, please. Should I say something or is it too soon ?

This is such a hard line to tackle. First of all, is this best friend a person that you harbor some residual romantic feelings for, in the hopes that they “realize” what they wanted was you all along? Because if so, that changes my answers a little bit. But I want you to sit with that question. It doesn’t need an answer right now. I just want you to toy with it in your head.

To make decisions, we need information & then to decide if the information answers the questions we have. Some people take a year to have all their questions answered; some people know the answers but stay 4-10 years hoping the answers change.

Inherently i think men should run their pockets and immediately do things like getting a commitment ring (a promise ring, a “think of me when you see this” ring) when they see the potential for a long-term relationship, i think men should be more proactive in that sense. If this person wants to get married in 8 years, it sounds like they prefer a longer engagement; now an engagement is just the intention to marry. What this person is asking for is no wasted time because they know that they do want to get married in 8 years time and it sounds like they want their lives built before then.

If they live between 2 states for work, and they’re open to living with a partner before getting officially engaged, then I don’t see anything wrong with them wanting to make the most of their time in the state with this person that they want as a partner.

As I said earlier, information is what we need versus time. But time is also beneficial to the final product. Like you can follow the recipe, have the best ingredients, but you can still fuck up something great if you place it in the oven for 800degree in 8 minutes when it needed 400 degrees for 30 min.

The only question to me is how does your best friend feel about this?

For me personally, I love people of intensity, action, and plans. However, there is an overall reading of someone that’s hard to describe in words that lets me know about the authenticity factor of the relationship. Not many people will be able to handle the intensity that this person has to offer. That being said, there could also be maladaptive reasons behind this speed for that person. A personality disorder, a split family (maybe they have someone else in the other state they’re married to or divorcing from but they don’t wanna share that yet), or just a person who is filling their time up with another person.

There is definitely a caution to be observed but it would depend on how your friend feels (pressured vs excited), who this person is (madly in love w your bestie or aloof in their interactions) and ultimately, if your friend has asked you for your opinion. I say that last one with hesitation because people in love rarely value logic but you also don’t want to sever your tie with your friend over a romantic connection that may or may not see fruition. Personally, I would ultimately say…Be there for your friend, ask them how they feel, and ask them if they need any help or want an outside perspective.

Rant. 🍃 so good luck making sense of this

I've been failing at this ana shit for a bit, God I hate myself. I just ended my period and I felt awful for gaining weight, but I'm sure the weight stuck. I'm trying to fast for a bit starting about 15 min ago(midnight)

I wanted ice-cream around 11 so me and my bf got some Ben and Jerry's pints, and my bf put his in the freezer without opening it. He said he needs to get back on a work out routine cause he is getting chunky or fat or whatever. He is literally skinnier than me. What bs is this?

So I stopped eating immediately and undid the damage as best as I could while crying. Over 6 dollars on a pint of brownie fudge, just to scrape the top and cry and p0rge. My bf was passed out when I came back to our room.

I also introduced him to Supersize vs superskinny. He is kinda interested, but just to make me happy. I love him, but omg, would it kill you to not say shit that makes me feel like shit? like don't tell me I eat fast. If I finish my burger before you, don't say "daaammmmnnnn" like wft?

And he doesn't have a job, so I spend more money on food for him than I spend on anything for myself. And he gets the munchies.

Sometimes I wonder if life is really worth it at the point. I've been off my meds since my 18 bd in March, and I can fucking tell that I'm worse. I miss my stuffed animals from my parents house and I keep having dreams that I'm back there. Most nights. It makes me fucking scared to sleep.

Scared to sleep, scared to sleep, can't talk to my brothers, almost rebuilding my life. If it only gets worse, how can I handle it?

And omg the fucking animals. He has a dog. Great, i love him. We live with his parents, his mom has 4 cats and the 3 females all had babies. There were 13 kittens all together. They are all dead. 4 from one cat were premature and died same day. The rest were pretty much unalived my their mom's on accident. And we live next to a corn field, so there are fleas and bed bugs. The bed bugs aren't in our bed. Just his parents.

What exactly is a pap walk? I’ve seen pictures of Zendaya and Tom walking about so how is theirs different from other celebs?

i mean im not a tomdaya historian but i would say typically most of the paparazzi photos of them are ones that paps have found them out in the world and then took their pics - theyre usually like walking their dog, wearing their glasses, looking at the cameras in annoyance. vs a pap walk where celebs or their team call the paps on themselves and then do a walk about. mostly around the time theyve got something theyre promoting - sometimes wearing what theyre promoting (@ harry @ pleasing)

obvious examples are any paparazzi photoshoot of ana de armas and ben affleck in 2020 (theres a full video of paps waiting to meet them at a designated meeting spot to take pics for 5 mins), dua and callum in the beginning of their relationship (they have since calmed down but they were really doing a lot of them when his show/her album was coming out), holivia whenever pleasing was about to drop something new/ during his tour/ during their movie promo (one of them would usually be wearing the merch), the famous shawn and camila pap walk in miami 2020 when they both look awful but are walking so slowly so that the paps can get their pics, taylor swift walking w her squad, omg the famous bradley cooper reading suki waterhouse lolita in a park lol, and theres also extreme examples of like f list celebs who are desperate to be photographed and its beyond obvious like how can we forget when demi lovatos ex fiance called the paparrazzi on himself when he went to the beach and cried the day their breakup went public

people try to make the argument than any time a celeb gets papped its a pap walk which is not true! paparrazzi still very much stalk celebs and take their pics out in the wild and harrass them but there have been laws preventing that from happening as often and a lot of celebs do take advantage of the system and use it to their personal advantages when they need to promo something !

İzleyiciye travma yaşatmayı seven senarist Lee Kyung Hee’nin kaleminden en son çıkan dizidir. Nice Guy ve Uncontrollably Fond gibi saç baş yolduran dizilerden kendisini hatırlayabiliriz. Senaristin ani travma yaratmak için karakterleri öldürme meyili var. Daha bismillah başlarken kötü haberi suratımıza çarpıp izleyiciyi karanlığa doğru sürüklüyor.  Bu dizi nezdinde havasını biraz kara bulutlardan griye çekmiş. Diğer örneklere nazaran çok daha doğal bir dram yazmış.

Konusuna gelirsek; Lee Kang (Yoon Kye-Sang) annesiyle beraber küçük bir sahil kasabasında lokanta işletmektedir. Moon Cha-Young(Ha Ji-Won) ise zengin bir ailenin oyuncu olmaya zorlanan küçük kızlarıdır. Cha-Young annesinin baskısından dolayı evden kaçmış, oyunculuk eğitimi nedeniyle doğru düzgün yemediği için aç aç dolaşırken Lee Kang ile karşılaşır. Küçük çocuk kızın aç olduğunu fark edip annesinden ona yemek hazırlamasını ister. Küçük kız ilk defa karşılaştığı bu iyi niyet ve yardım severlik karşısında çok etkilenir. Lee Kang, kıza istediği zaman gelebileceğini söyleyip ona güzel yemekler yapacağının sözünü verir. Ancak bu sözün devamını getiremezler. İkisi de farklı sebeplerden ötürü kasabadan ayrılmak zoruna kalır.

Moon Cha-Young büyümüş, küçükken etkilendiği o çocuk nedeniyle şef olmuştur. Lee Kang ise başarılı bir cerrah olmuştur. Yıllar sonra bir şekilde kader onları yeniden bir araya getirir. Cha-Young karşısındaki adamın küçükken tanıştığı o yardım sever çocuk olduğunu hemen anlasa da Lee Kang ‘ın hiçbir fikri yoktur. Diziyi romantik komedi sanıyorsanız, sanmayın. Tam bir ağır melodram. Dümdüz ve yavaş ilerleyen bir kimyası var. O kadar stabil ki, o kadar olur. Lee Kang’ın ezeli rakibi ise kuzeni Lee Jun(Jang Seung-Jo)’dur. Burada minik araya gireyim istiyorum. Bence yanlış karakteri yanlış oyuncuya vermişler. Nedense Yoon Kye-Sang’da başrol ışığı göremedim. İzlerken keşke başrol erkeği Jang Seung-Jo oynasaymış dedim.

Dizinin en güzel yanı hastaların minik hikayeleriydi. Ana karakterlerin duyguları izleyiciye gerçek anlamda geçmiyordu. Kim Won-Hae ‘i görmekten çok keyif aldım. Hatta ciddi rollerde görmeyi daha çok sevdiğimi fark ettim. Kadın başrolde gereksiz bir iyilik meleği modu vardı. Erkek başrolde ise gereksiz bir inat ve sinir vardı. Bir koca sezon boyunca o küçük kız benim demedi ya, delirdim. Onu bir kenara koyayım, dizide kimse kimseye gerçekleri söylemiyor arkadaş. Herkes bilgiyi kendine sakladı. Demediler ben o kızım, beni kurtaran kişi şuydu, beni zorla götürdüler vs vs vs … hiç kimse ya, hiç kimse orda yanlış anlaşılmayı düzeltebilecekken düzeltmedi. O kadar çok içimi şişirdiler ki izlerken anlatamam.

Ve final 😊 Hakikatten ne oldu ya finalde? Ne yaşadık biz? Bütün mevzu bağlandı, anlaşıldı derken. Biz ayrılık yazmayı unuttuk mu dediniz? Hass.. zaman atlaması yapmadık diye mi hatırladınız?
