NICKMERCS Set to Host His Biggest Apex Legends Tournament Yet—With a Twist

In both the competitive and recreational Apex Legends circles, NICKMERCS is well-known. The FaZe Clan streamer runs the MFAM Gauntlet for more than three years in addition to competing for Tripods in the North America Pro League. He also frequently supports his community by organising outside competitions. For the first time in 2023, NICKMERCS has announced the return of his tournament series, the MFAM Gauntlet, to Apex. The two-day tournament features 20 teams competing for a $200,000 prize pool. But instead of the standard battle royale format, the tournament centers around Team Deathmatch, the newest limited-time mode introduced to Apex. https://twitter.com/NICKMERCS/status/1640768909094559744 Players will be able to participate by following and subscribing to NICKMERCS’ Twitch channel and being present when he goes live for the event. Twenty team captains will be randomly selected during the livestream, with each captain bringing two teammates of their choosing to make a trio, bringing the total participants up to 60 for the event. The MFAM Gauntlet will be held over a series of three rounds featuring Team Deathmatch and Gun Run. Each team will play seven TDM matches in squads of six, with randomly selected team pairings each match. The top seven trios, decided by overall win-loss record, will advance to the final round of competition. The trios ranked eighth to 11th will qualify for the wild card round, where a single round of Gun Run will decide the eighth team qualifying for the final round. The last day of competition seeds the remaining eight teams into a knockout bracket, with the top two teams declared winners of the tournament, earning a quarter of the overall prize pool at $54,000, meaning each player gets $9,000. https://twitter.com/NICKMERCS/status/1640768909094559744 This marks the biggest TDM tournament in Apex history since the game mode’s release at the beginning of season 16. A Twitch Rivals tournament was held on Feb. 17, featuring 16 invited teams of pro players and content creators competing for a $200,000 prize pool. MFAM July Main Event - Quads

It’s the final day of July and with it comes one final MFAM Gauntlet Main Event competition tonight. As always, full details, leaderboard, and stream can be found at https://mfam.gg/the-gauntlet/.

Tonight’s event will be teams of four (4) with a K/D limit of 16 per team.

The Main Event will feature invited teams for sure, but it’s not clear if any team from qualifying will be taking part. The team that finish first in qualifying was disqualified by the tournament host, NickMercs, because their team was “taking advantage of Hawaiian servers.” Stukawaki was the team member that was called into question for being the host of his team. He publicly commented on Twitter as follows:

What happened in the MFAM sucks, but there’s no need to argue with @NICKMERCS anymore. What’s done is done and at the end of the day it’s his tourney. I didn’t get banned and I even get to play in the next qualifier, things could be worse, but they’re not.

Seems a little strange to me that someone is going to get DQ’d from a tournament for something that didn’t break any of the rules that were available to the public to see. It’s not clear if competitors were given additional rules/regulations to follow for tournament play on a Discord or by some other means.

Regardless of the qualifier controversy, the show goes on tonight. Teams aren’t formally announced at this point but will be posted onto the MFAM website later. The format of this tournament is pretty much the same as all the past Main Events. Once the clock hits 3:00pm EST teams will have 3 hours to log the best 5 games they can. A point is given for each kill in addition to placement points depending on where a team finishes (up to 25 points extra for the win).

These tournaments have been fun, they’ve introduced me and tons of others to streamers we probably never would have discovered before, and I’m looking forward to seeing what players get the call to be on a team today that wouldn’t have gotten the chance without the K/D limit.

AngelWalks is a Twitch streamer.

Angel Walk's brother died while Angel walk was streaming a game “ Call of Duty: Warzone MFAM Gauntlet Tournament ”

The cause of his death is currently unknown.But from what I read Some said that because Overdose, some said to suicide.

After that event, He has posted on twitter that

My brother is dead.

“I was in the middle of the gauntlet when my family came to my door panicking, yelling that my brother was cold and not moving. I’ve already lost so much. I don’t know how to move forward”

I need to sell my stuff to help pay for the funeral.

MFAM Gauntlet Main Event Information

Today at 4:00pm EST will be the MFAM Gauntlet Main Event. In the three weeks preceding today NickMercs has hosted MFAM Qualifiers for subscribers of his Twitch channel to find their way into today’s Main Event. Based on the Leaderboard for today’s Main Event, it appears 27 teams have qualified. There are 4 people per team and the team’s combined K/D ratio can not be greater than 16. Points are awarded to teams based on placement and kills for each game.

Like most Warzone tournaments as of late, there is no shortage of big names playing. HusKerrs and Symfuhny are teaming together again (with Sebi and CheezyNacho filling out the squad), looking to take home another big money tournament title. TeePee, DougIsRaw, and TimTheTatMan are on a squad with CCanada . Vikkstar, WarsZ, and JukeyZ will be teaming with Callfreezy.
