(Upper Peninsula of MI) – The drive home this evening promises to be bad – but snow will diminish this evening from west to east, says the National Weather Service
Plow drivers in the Copper Country were estimated it was snowing two inches per hour at time this morning. Meanwhile semi tractor trailer trucks across the U.P. were sliding off the roads and it was especially bad on U.S. 41 in Marquette County where numerous semis ran into trouble.
Semis had to back down the Shiras Hill and the Teal Lake Hill. There were at least a dozen rollovers in the U.P. and countless cars sliding into snowbanks. Police urge people to drive slower and use extra caution. People die in this kind of weather, so U.P. Breaking News hopes you will call a loved one at work and make them promise to drive slow.
Numerous accidents were reported on CR-553 near K.I. Sawyer. Drivers who contacted U.P. Breaking News described driving in Marquette County as horrendous this afternoon with whiteouts especially along the lakefront.
Meanwhile on U.S.-41 in Marquette Township a semi had to be winched up the hill by wreckers after sliding on the slippery highway – unable to get up the hill.
