Can you imagine that Israeli ambulances have just changed their sirens so they sound less like rocket sirens.
They did so because the level of anxiety is so high here in Israel, our hearts start racing when we hear an ambulance go by….

We aren’t okay. We are not okay. Even after the rescue of 2 hostages BH this is a reminder that there’s still so much to be done.
During my class today, one of my students asked what you do when you know someone is dying and there’s nothing you to can to save them. They know the protocol but they were more asking about the emotional state, how — especially in emergency situations where this is often more than one patient — you’re expected to care for one person then immediately move to the next without letting the heartbreak of losing someone distract you. And it spiraled from there. They had so many questions that they’d never been able to ask before and we didn’t at all get anything from the planned curriculum done but we were able to really explore a side of emergency medicine that isn’t talked about enough; about how so much of what we do in administering care during crisis is to completely forget our own humanity for the sake of another’s. And that’s tough for some new students to even fathom.
I teach this course with a friend who was driving an MDA ambulance on October 7th. We both have seen horrible things before October 7th and we’ve both seen horrendous things since. And these students wanted to hear about it. They wanted to understand the world they were getting in to. They needed information beyond what I or my colleagues can provide them in a classroom. And it was necessary. Not just for students of emergency medicine but for us as a people to talk about these things and be honest about what we’ve gone through and how it has shaped us. I don’t think we’re doing enough of it. October 7th happened and all of us hit the ground running, filling roles that made us all feel like we were in control again: soldier, volunteer, etc. But we haven’t really had time to process and the longer we go ignoring the hard truths and emotional scarring, the longer this will all take to heal.
I am so proud of my students for pushing and asking the questions that matter. And for still wanting to get into emergency medicine even when it can be mentally unforgiving. There are the traumas we witness and then the everlasting trauma where our positions force us to ignore what we’ve witnessed and act as if none of it had an impact or affected us in a negative way. It’s a field where every emergency situation you’ve ever attended to shapes your current emergency situation and yet you have to forget and push aside those situations because if we thought about them in depth, we’d never be able to function as healthcare workers.
So it was a lot. But even outside of healthcare I think that Israelis need to talk about what we’ve seen and how this is impacting us. We need more support groups and more open and honest dialogues. It’s not enough to tell people that it’s okay not to be okay. We have to show them by giving them chances to not just acknowledge those feelings but explore them. I know the conversations we had in my class today will help my students immensely - just as much, if not more, than our planned curriculum. Now we need that same attitude in every facet of life, with every Israeli and Jew that has been touched by what happened on October 7th and everything that has happened since.
We are not okay. So what are we going to do about it?

A lot of times severely disabled people will talk about how we're actually lucky and not that sick comparatively because we see other people who are a lot sicker than us at specialists. There's a guy who comes on MDA days who has to be transported by ambulance and gurney to his 6 month appointments because he can't bend anymore. I'm counting my blessings where they're at and listening to people like him when they talk about their wants and needs.

Some day there will be studies showing the effects of October 7 on the health of ordinary Israelis like me. I have no doubt that others have felt the physical impacts of the war. The saga of my health "scare" continues.

Two killed in terror shooting near West Bank's Eli settlement; gunman shot dead by security forces
By Emanuel Fabian, Fri 1 March 2024
Tumblr media
The scene of a deadly shooting terror attack near the West Bank settlement of Eli, February 29, 2024. Two people were killed in the attack. (MDA)
Two people have been killed in the terror shooting attack near the West Bank settlement of Eli, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.
MDA director Eli Bin tells Army Radio that both victims were declared dead at the scene.
The male victims are in their 20s and 40s, respectively, per MDA.
The two were in a car at the gas station outside the settlement when the gunman approached and opened fire, according to reports. Medics scanned the area for potential additional victims.
The IDF says one terrorist involved in the deadly attack was shot dead by security forces.
"The troops are blocking roads and conducting a pursuit after additional suspects in the area," the IDF adds. No additional suspects were found.
Suspected infiltration alarms sounded in Eli, the location of a deadly terror assault last summer, in which four Israelis were killed.

this is going to be a bit tmi and nsfw-ish. very out of character for me, so it’s better that i talk about it to people who i don’t need to look at in it the eyes.
the last couple of weeks have had this really pronounced awkwardness to them, because dri is convinced i almost had a fatal OD earlier this month and has been waxing apologetic about it.
the backstory is that ryan the chemist offered to sell us mda. neither of us had tried it before, but we looked into it and sort of drew the conclusion that it was basically a one-stop candy flip. so she made the executive decision to bite (something i was kind of take or leave about) and took it a bit before my semester began, when we both had concurrent days off. this was about 100mg each, which is on the higher end of a standard dose. we’d assumed we’d be fine because we’re both pretty experienced with psychs and molly but we were dead wrong.
the tl;dr – don’t do mda. seriously. the bullshit that people who have never taken acid say about acid, like seeing seeing dragons or whatever that isn’t there is actually true of mda. nightmare.
usually the way this stuff goes is we wait till it hits, go to our room and mess around a bit, and then watch something or listen to some albums. in the first part of this, she freaked out because she hallucinated she prolapsed my vagina with a dildo and kept asking me if she needed to call the EMTs. i told her i was confused. she said we probably got more of a powerful hallucinogen than we bargained for and just suggested we stop and wait the high out to some music.
that’s when things got worse for me. it’s not unusual for me to get jittery when i take anything. it happens if i drink a cup of coffee or an energy drink. but my body started tensing up and jittering on top of that. my head was aching. i was sweating profusely. more than anything, i felt very uncomfortable. i walked over to our bathroom and was in there for a while – drugs like this really disrupt your ability to pee when you need to – and she knocked on the door every few minutes to make sure i was still conscious. when i got out, she told me to lay back down in bed because she thought i looked like i was overdosing. “lay here and stay on your side. if you seize, i’m calling an ambulance”. the whole time she’s staring at me. and then i start hallucinating. i see white dots around her eyes, like some kind of avante-guard eyeliner look. then her eyes turned blue. then she has freckles all over her face.
in retrospect, this was probably on the low end of an OD. i haven’t had that intense an experience with drugs before. she stayed awake with me until the symptoms had mostly subsided. she asked me if i felt safe, i said yes, and she went to bed. i was still very stimulated, so i went to the living room and decided to kill some time on youtube until i felt tired. and i see one of my windows crawling with hundred of centipedes. i see a clipboard on the ceiling. i see tiny mochi cats crawling on one of the curtain rods. the last two things were reassuring because they were clearly bullshit. kind of a grounding factor to that whole experience.
dri has been pretty panicked about it since and keeps telling me i almost died. she keeps begging for my forgiveness because she was more on the “let’s give this a go” side of things. but it’s not like this is her fault, it’s a matter of us not knowing enough about it to make determinations. as for the fatal overdose thing, i don’t know if that’s accurate, given we were both hallucinating, and it just seemed like a shitty trip for the most part. but ryan called her this morning and she really tore into him. “you almost killed jay!” i guess i can’t determine from an outside perspective what happened that night, but i don’t think either of us are terribly reliable narrators. either way, we aren’t touching that shit ever again.

As Israel continues its war against Hamas in Gaza, it has repeatedly carried out deadly strikes on medical facilities and refugee camps, leading to a staggering civilian death toll, with reports of thousands of Palestinians being held in custody indefinitely in inhumane conditions
Israeli soldiers and intelligence agents have been using Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as a human shield during their war on Hamas that broke out last October, an investigation by The New York Times has revealed.
Captured Gazans have been forced to carry out life-threatening reconnaissance missions to avoid putting Israeli soldiers at risk, the publication cited Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and former Palestinian detainees as saying. At least 11 squads in five cities in Gaza have reportedly resorted to this illegal practice.
The use of civilians and other protected persons as human shields to make military sites immune from enemy attacks or to prevent reprisals during an offensive is prohibited by Protocol I of the Geneva Conventions. in the 1998 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the use of human shields during an international armed conflict is classified as a war crime.
Palestinian detainees have been forced to:
Walk handcuffed across the rubble in Gaza searching for explosives and booby traps set by Hamas;
Scout and film inside Hamas’ underground tunnel networks in search of remaining fighters;
Enter buildings rigged with mines to find hidden explosives;
Pick up or move objects such as generators and water tanks that might conceal tunnel entrances or rigged devices;
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that a Hezbollah drone strike killed four Israeli soldiers and severely injured seven others at an army base in Binyamina in Israel, according to a statement posted on the IDF's official Telegram channel. The Israeli Ambulance Service (MDA)… https://t.co/aliEUfpPRC pic.twitter.com/iU322eB2OR— Sputnik (@SputnikInt) October 13, 2024
Interviewed Israeli soldiers described the practice of using Palestinians as human shields as routine, carried out with “logistical support and the knowledge of superiors on the battlefield,” the NYT stated. In response to the report, the Israeli military claimed in a statement that its “directives and guidelines strictly prohibit the use of detained Gaza civilians for military operations.”
“The Israeli army has repeatedly used people as human shields, with numerous instances of this behaviour documented throughout the West Bank as well as the Gaza Strip. This is an expansion of a long-standing strategy employed by the Israeli army during times of escalation or during its frequent incursions into the West Bank,” the Geneva-based Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor organization wrote in its July report.
Another report, “Israeli Matrix of Control: Use of Palestinian civilians as human shields,” similarly documented cases of Palestinian civilians being used as human shields by Israeli military forces during the 50-day conflict in the Gaza Strip in 2014.
As at least 42,289 people have been killed and 98,684 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023, according to the enclave’s health authorities.

Spent my night in a caravan of ambulances with doctors and EMTs (no volunteers/NCSs’ for these trips) collecting blood from the various donation sites so we can bring them South — which is where I am now. Not quite to Ashkelon yet but that’s our final destination. We’ve gone through about eleven checkpoints and had to get out once for a rocket siren. I fucking HATE having to take shelter in open air - even if MDA provides us with shock helmets and vests.
My husband was called up so he’s heading south too.
Haven’t been to sleep yet but Hashem is with us and we’re doing what we can. Stay safe everyone! ❤️

Nothing illustrates Red Cross hostility and contempt for Israel more vividly than the organization’s refusal for sixty years to admit Israel’s relief organization Magen David Adom (MDA) into its ranks or its ongoing capitulation to Arab demands that the Jewish group use a red diamond instead of the Star of David.
During the 1950s the International Committee of the Red Cross granted official recognition and membership status to relief groups that use other emblems such as the Muslim Red Crescent and Persian Red Lion; but it refused to sanction the Magen David emblem as a protected symbol. Israel thus was faced with two options: accept the Christian cross or Muslim crescent as its emblem or be excluded. It chose exclusion.
The rejection of MDA was more than a refusal of status equality and the generous financial assistance granted to Red Cross sister agencies. It was also a refusal of protection. Hospitals ambulances and medical workers identified by a Red Cross Red Crescent or Red Lion (until the Iranian Revolution of 1979) are protected by international humanitarian law. By contrast personnel and equipment identified by a Magen David are deprived of this safeguard.
Thus a bitter irony played out whereby the ICRC was sheltering Palestinian ambulances that were often used to transport terrorists and weaponry while refusing protection to MDA ambulances rushing to aid the victims of terrorism.
Admitting Israel
The tide began to slowly turn in 1999 with the appointment of Dr. Bernadine Healy as president and CEO of the American Red Cross. Healy was infuriated by the blatant injustice of Israel’s exclusion from the ICRC. Almost immediately upon taking office she took the bull by the horns.
“We are a country that doesn't exclude. You don't belong to a country club that excludes blacks or Jews” she told her board members. She noted that MDA had saved hundreds of thousands of lives — Jewish and non-Jewish — throughout its history and added that in the previous decade MDA had trained many members of the International Red Cross in emergency medical skills ranging from basic first aid to complex trauma treatment.
Speaking at a Red Cross convention in Geneva Healy said the exclusion of MDA is “a betrayal of the sacred principles of this movement and cannot be tolerated any longer” who which Red Cross President Cornelio Sommaruga countered angrily asking “If we're going to have the Shield of David why would we not have to accept the swastika?"
Astounded at the comparison Healy began to grasp that hostility to Israel was deeply embedded in the world body. Undeterred she translated her views into aggressive action. She suspended American Red Cross dues payments to the international organization amounting to $5 million annually or about one quarter of the ICRC’s annual budget until the parent organization changed its policy toward Israel. Eventually the withheld dues began to cut heavily into Red Cross programs and the organization finally indicated it was ready to negotiate.
But Healy’s courageous stand cost her her job. Healy lost a no-confidence vote by the America Red Cross board who also voted to resume partial payment of dues to the Geneva organization.  The move undercut Healy’s authority and forced her to step down in 2001. Although Red Cross board chairman David McLaughlin protested that the board had not pushed Healy out. Standing beside him Healy insisted “I don’t think that’s true.”
Former US Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger called her departure “a tragedy for the American Red Cross and revealed that Healy had acted upon his advice in withholding ICRC dues. Eagleburger praised her single-minded stance with the world organization and decried the “weak people” who “succumbed to the blandishments of Red Cross apologists” and abandoned the idealistic stance of Dr. Healy.
“She rightly saw it for what it is… an immoral policy. One that looks and smells too much like a certain country’s infamous policies of the 1930's and 1940's” he said.
Hollow Victory
Despite Healy’s departure the campaign she had begun acquired momentum. Geneva continued to drag its feet but American pressure finally produced results. Israel’s MDA was admitted to the International Red Cross in June 2006 when the all 189 Red Cross and Red Crescent societies voted on the matter. 98 groups voted in favor 27 against and 10 abstained.
Uultimately however it was a hollow victory for Israel. The international organization rejected the Star of David emblem and Israel was forced to agree to place its red star inside a new emblem—a red square—when operating in countries outside its own borders. In countries that object to the Magen David emblem Israel had to agree to use the red square alone when delivering relief.
Many observers criticized the deal saying that forbidding the symbol of Judaism while admitting Christian and Islamic symbols were rank anti-Semitism. The Wall Street Journal editorialized that “it is a disgrace that the Star of David which symbolized the faith that spawned both Christianity and Islam is excluded.” The New York Sun called their editorial on the issue “The Hate that Endures.”
“Press releases were flooding the wires yesterday exulting in the news that Israel's Magen David Adom [would finally gain admission] to the International Committee of the Red Cross” The Sun wrote. “But it wasn't actually the red Star-of-David symbol that the signatories endorsed.
“No instead of allowing the actual symbol used by the Israelis the diplomats forged a compromise by which a red square would be added to Israel’s ambulances [operating outside the borders of Israel]… what this means is that ambulances displaying just a red Star of David won't be protected on international missions. It's an illuminating moment reminding us of the hate that endures for Jews and the Jewish State.”
Re: Red Cross not visiting Israeli hostages. Red Cross has been visiting and working as diligently as possible towards getting hostages released. It is a difficult situation and dangerous for everyone.
Source: I work for the Red Cross
That’s literally a lie as multiple hostages have said otherwise. Just because the organisation claims to do this, doesn’t mean they did…
Your Source: trust me bro
Well, I’m an Israeli who does her research. The Red Cross only got involved recently with transportation of the hostages- and they have not been handling it well either:
1. The hostages did not receive proper health care while held hostage for almost 2 months.
The Red Cross didn’t even contact them at all until the recent exchange deal!
-Many were rushed to surgery as soon as they were returned to Israel .
-An elderly woman has been airlifted to hospital, and she is currently in critical condition.
2.Violent mobs are attacking those transportation cars while they’re delivering the hostages.
3. Hamas terrorists continued to threaten the hostages as they were exchanged: they posed them and told them to wave / smile.
They filmed it all and made a spectacle out of it.
4. Unlike the deal’s terms, families were separated: fathers and uncles left behind, mothers separated from their children…
5.Women were tested for rape / pregnancy for the first time in the Israeli hospitals.
6. Hospitals were used by Hamas to hold hostages - where were the Red Cross?? How did this happen under their watch?
The Red Cross has failed these people time and time again.
I could go on but I think I’ve made my point.
Did you even do a simple google search or do you hate Jews/ Israelis that much?
Once again, don’t believe Hamas’ propaganda.

Israel-Hamas War: Heavy Rocket Fire On Jerusalem; IDF Continues Strike In Gaza

Israel-Hamas War: Heavy Rocket Fire On Jerusalem; IDF Continues Strike In Gaza :
Five people were hurt on Monday as a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in the Gaza Strip toward towns in southern and central Israel. According to reports, two of them are in critical condition. According to media sources, one of the rockets burst close to Ben Gurion International Airport, worsening the situation. Numerous explosions occurred as a result of collisions or Iron Dome missile defense system interceptions.
Tumblr media
Heavy Rocket Fire On Jerusalem According to the Israel Defense Forces, Jerusalem was experiencing loud sirens. The city also reportedly experienced some explosions. "Over 700 Israelis were ruthlessly murdered by Hamas on Saturday. To weaken and eliminate Hamas' capacity to intimidate Israeli citizens, the Israeli Air Force is launching one of its greatest airstrikes ever against the organization in Gaza. Hamas started a conflict. We'll bring our nation's security back. Between Saturday and Monday morning, Israeli aircraft struck nearly 1,200 targets throughout the Gaza Strip, including rocket launchers, command and control facilities, and locations where weapons are stored and manufactured. That number has increased today, according to the IAF. IDF Homefront Command gave the order to stay inside to Israeli citizens in towns close to the Lebanese border. Four people in Ashkelon were being treated by the Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service for injuries they received from rocket hits. A 75-year-old guy, two males in their 50s and 30s, and another person were among the victims. Additionally, MDA medical personnel treated a woman in her fifties who had been seriously hurt by a rocket impact near Ashdod. According to the Times of Israel, sirens could be heard in many cities, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ra'anana, and even Baqa al-Gharbiyye in the far north. This was the first time since Saturday that sirens had been heard in many of these areas. The barrages came a day after Israel officially proclaimed a state of war as the dead toll from the devastating Hamas attack surpassed 700 and was anticipated to increase much further, with the fate of more than 100 persons who had been kidnapped and taken to the Gaza Strip still unknown, according to the Times of Israel.
