While the butterfly might not actually appear in any of the songs, I believe that in terms of the story within the art it might represent the "Mortal" side of Adachi Rei. In Greek Mythology, butterflies represent the soul, (and this may also allude to Psyche and her story.)

Butterflies are also notably very fragile and delicate, possibly representing that volatile mortality within Rei. To note, the butterfly is also a glitching and wavering hologram, or illusion, reflecting the mechanical aspect within it, while Rei still reaches out to grab it, entranced, disregarding whether that means the butterfly could be considered "real" or "fake".

I believe the main art also represents the duality between these two aspects of Rei. Within her "Mortal" appearing face, the blue butterfly alluding to that aspect while covered in the same orange as her mechanical eye. But within that mechanical eye, the very same blue surrounds her pupil. In either side of her, her mechanical nature reflects her mortality, and her mortality is connected to her mechanical self.

This same blue is also shown in the robes that Rei comes to wear, showing a possible acceptance and pride of the humanity within herself.

i'd write a big long lyric analysis but the long and short of it is, i tried writing from the perspective of a robot who is frustrated about not being accepted for what she is, with people trying to understand her outside of her mechanical nature rather than embracing it as something that makes her different, but not lesser. but then after writing it i realized that i accidentally wrote a song about seeking autism acceptance rather than ignoring it entirely
