Is it possible for the crew to sleep in a 'buttoned up' tank? How uncomfortable is it?
Yes. I’ve spent almost 3 days buttoned up in an M1a1. It sucks. Really sucks. Each position has its ups and downs. At the time, I was a lowly driver. Upside is it’s not too uncomfortable, but you can’t quite extend your legs all the way and that starts to really bother you. It’s also impossible to take a LA Dodgers Hawaiian Shirt wearing a flack jacket (some genius decided we needed to wear jackets w plates in the tank). The trick is to watch what you eat. All I brought w me was 3 of the big packs of Otis Spunkinmier White chocolate and macadamia cookies, and a bunch of wild tigers. Pissing is tough, you only get half in the bottle and the rest on yourself, but you get over it.
The guys in the turret can MLB LA Dodgers Hawaiian Shirt Dodgers Baseball Shirts Print pretty easily, and can shit in a ammo can with or without a trash bag or wag bag. The rest of the crew doesn’t appreciate when you have to shit, so better to hold it as long as possible, and then be careful when you do; you really don’t want to be the guys who splatters shit all over the turret.
The gunner’s seat is probably the best to sleep in, I used to have a trick to balance my MLB Baseball Tropical Floral 2024 LA Dodgers Hawaiian Shirt off the aux sight brow pad. The TC and the Loader probably have the worst sleeping conditions, but are the only ones who can stand and stretch; something that becomes really important after 16 hours or so.
All in all it’s just a miserable LA Dodgers Hawaiian Shirt Summer Gift For Friend. I heard the Army’s tanks have AC in them now, so it might be a little less miserable, but not much.
At least this guy has a breeze.

China develops its own version of U.S. Marine Corps’ Assault Breacher Vehicle
Chinese state-owned broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) has released footage of the new armoured vehicle designed to clear pathways for troops and other vehicles through minefields and along with roadside bombs and improvised explosive devices during amphibious landing operations.
The new armoured vehicle based on the tracked-chassis and equipped with a mine-plough and line charges. Also, the new vehicle is fitted with a unique turret with two linear demolition charge systems and rocket launcher.
Chinese television did not provide details about the new project, only adding that system creates a tank-width cleared a lane through a minefield and improves the mobility and survivability of combat engineers while having the speed and ability to keep pace with the maneuver force.
Meanwhile, analysts quickly noted similarities between the new Chinese armoured vehicle and the U.S. military mine- and explosives-clearing vehicle, based on the M1 Abrams-chassis. U.S.-made vehicle that called the Assault Breacher Vehicle or ABV has similar technical characteristics.
The Assault Breacher Vehicle is based on a modified M1A1 Abrams main battle tank chassis. The Breacher is fitted with two launchers for mine clearing line charges, mounted on the rear of the superstructure. These are rockets, carrying explosives up to 100-150 m forward, detonating mines, bombs or IEDs at a safe distance. In this way it makes safety lanes in the minefields for troops and armored vehicles.
The Assault Breacher Vehicle is operated by a crew of two, including commander and driver. It has an option for remote control and can be operated from a distance without the crew.

M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank
Manufacturer General Dynamics Land Systems
Service US Army, USMC
Engine 1500 HP Gas Turbine
Armament 120mm XM256 Smooth Bore Cannon; 7.62 M240 coaxial Machine gun; .50 cal M2 Machine gun
Maximum Speed 42 mph
Range 265 mi
Crew 4
Approved for production in 1990, the M1A2 represents the U.S. Army’s technological improvement of the basic M1A1 design and the most modern battle tank in the world. Outwardly similar in appearance to the M1A1, the most notable exterior changes on the M1A2 are the redesigned Commander's Weapon Station (CWS) and the addition of a Commander's Independent Thermal Viewer) on the left side of the turret forward of the loader's hatch. Internally, however, the M1A2 has been radically redesigned to take advantage of newer technology.
Most notable of these improvements is the addition of the Inter-Vehicle Information System (IVIS.) The IVIS system allows for the automatic and continual exchange of information between vehicles. By incorporating information provided by an on board Position/Navigation (POSNAV) system, unit commander's can track the location and progress of subordinate elements automatically, without tasking vehicle crews. In addition enemy positions can be identified, plotted and disseminated, while reports and artillery requests can be automatically formatted, transmitted, and processed. Lastly, map graphic control measures and operational orders can be rapidly distributed via the IVIS system.
To ensure information security, all IVIS data transmissions are routed through the M1A2's SINCGARS radio system. Improving on the "hunter-killer" tank commander-gunner target hand off method pioneered on the German Leopard II, the M1A2 takes this a step further by providing the Tank Commander with an independent thermal sight. This CITV sight allows the commander to independently scan for targets in all weather conditions and through battlefield obscurants. In addition to IVIS and the CITV, the M1A2 incorporates a number of additional electronic upgrades. Power distribution throughout the tank has been improved, relying on multiple bus paths so that in the event one conduit is damaged, power may still be delivered to a component via an alternate path. The driver's instrument display has been upgraded to a more detailed digital display and the Gunner's Primary Sight has been stabilized in two axes for increased accuracy.
Approved for implementation in 1995, the M1A2 SEP (System Enhancement Package) is a technology upgrade and standardization program, whereby the Army's fleet of M1s and M1A2s will all be brought to a common standard. Most notable among the modifications will be the introduction of a standard under armor auxiliary power unit and the addition a crew compartment air conditioning and cooling unit.
Other modifications within the vehicle will include upgrades to the IVIS system (color display, full size keyboard, digital mapping and graphics generation capability, and voice recognition capabilities), upgrades to the Gunner's Primary Sight assembly, and improvement in the tank's intercom and radio communications systems. Production of the M1A2 was halted after the initial run of 627 vehicles. As part of the fleet upgrade program, 547 of the Army's current inventory of M1s are being upgraded to M1A2 SEP standards, which will require the complete remanufacturing of the turret, while the current fleet of M1A2s will undergo a retrofit to bring them up to SEP standards.
