Honestly, this is funny, worrying about shoulder fired system that most in the military will never fire live while all but side stepping the bulk of the force that deal with recurring blasts over and over again, 11C's and 13B, there are some others as well.

In this 1744 word writing artillery is mentioned once. I have never fired a Carl Gustaf M3 it looked like is gives one hell of a kick. According to the research the Carl Gustaf M3 "delivers a blast that is often twice the recommended safety threshold." I wonder how many times over the "safety Threshold" the blast from an M777 or M109A7 goes.

Anything that advances safety for our troops is not all bad, but it needs to advance everyone's safety not just a few snake eater. And it should address where the bulk of the injuries will occur.

As an Artillerymen who has a TBI injury I might be a little bias.

2S1 Gvozdika vs M109 Paladin - Which Is Faster ?

The 2S1 Gvozdika (Russian: 2С1 «Гвоздика», "Carnation") is a Soviet self-propelled howitzer based on the MT-LBu multi-purpose chassis, mounting a 122 mm 2A18 howitzer. "2S1" is its GRAU designation. An alternative Russian designation is SAU-122 but in the Russian Army it is commonly known as Gvozdika. The 2S1 is fully amphibious with very little preparation, and once afloat is propelled by its tracks. A variety of track widths are available to allow the 2S1 to operate in snow or swamp conditions. It is NBC protected and has infrared night-vision capability.

The M109 has a crew of four: the section chief/commander, the driver, the gunner, and the ammunition handler/loader. The chief or gunner aims the cannon left or right (deflection) and up and down (quadrant).

BAE Systems (LON: BA) has been awarded a contract valued up to $318 million from the U.S. Army to perform technical and sustainment support services for its fleet of M109A6 and A7 Self-Propelled Howitzers (SPH) and their companion, M992A3 carrier, ammunition, tracked (CAT) vehicles. Under the five-year System Technical Support and Sustainment System Technical Support contract, BAE Systems will deliver ongoing engineering and logistics services to provide new capabilities, maintenance, and testing on the family of vehicles.
