1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly-P 1 Roadster

The 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly P1 Roadster is a car that Allen Swift received as a graduation gift from his father in 1928.  Mr Swift drove the car for 82 years and is credited with owning a Rolls-Royce longer than anyone else in the world.  He died in 2005 at the age of 102 and ensured that the car would be preserved after his death. 

The 1928 Rolls-Royce Phantom I has a 7,668cc engine that some say has 113 brake horsepower. The Piccadilly Roadster style body is believed to have come from a Packard.

So by 1988, when Allen’s Rolls needed restoration, not only were we Connecticut based, but we already established 10 years of restoration experience. His pride and joy would soon enjoy a complete body off restoration, as well as engine rebuild in collaboration with one of the greatest Rolls Royce experts of that time, Frank Cooke. Over the course of M. Allen Swift’s lifetime, he made a great impression on the local AACA meets and car scene. Allen was notorious for being spotted in his Rolls in rain, fog, and sometimes snow. Over the years of his 77 year ownership, Mr. Swift accumulated over 170,000 documented miles. When we completed the restoration of Mr. Swift’s car, he was already at the age of 88. Asking whether he would like us to deliver the car for him, or have him transport the car, he had clarified that neither of which would work, as he intended on driving his freshly restored Rolls immediately. Sure as it would be, Mr. Swift hopped in his Rolls as if it were new once again, and immediately got on the highway and headed home.

Mr. Swift is known for owning a Rolls Royce longer than anyone else in the world- Rolls Royce presented him with a Spirit of Ecstasy award in 1994 for his length of ownership. Reportedly, it still presents incredibly well, and runs like a top.

The Rolls Royce was donated to the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, along with $1 million dollars to care for and preserve the vehicle. You can still see Allen’s car there today, in their transportation gallery.

CONSTRUCTION

PART ONE - PART TWO

Pairing: Sam Taylor x Female Reader

Warnings: 18+ content (eventually lol), cursing, misogyny. 

Concept: You move to a new town and meet the local construction owner.

We drove down the dirt road in our baby blue LaSalle with a black overhead and big silver rims. The sun was shining down bright and happy in between fluffy clouds as they strolled through the air politely. We stop in front of a large, white house. A couple of other roadsters behind us stopped too. We packed up all of our favorite items and left the rest behind with the plan to buy new things. I sighed in relief, excited to get out of this car. I open the door carefully and step out. My brother, Vincent, immediately ran over to me and tried helping me out after the fact. My father, who was helping my brother and I move not too far from our old home, had some words of anger to share as he watched the whole ordeal happen. I sighed lightly to myself, wishing that he would just let me be. But he didn’t want a daughter who raised her voice or took care of herself. I did my best to ignore his hateful words while still responding enough that he thought I cared. 

I walked up to the large, beautiful house and stared for a moment. This house was mine. And, sort of, Vincent’s, who would only be staying with me until I found an appropriate mate.

I begin to move to walk into the gorgeous piece of architecture when I once again get yelled at. “Y/F/N Y/M/N! Let Vincent in first! Remember your manners.” My father shouted from away. I turn to look at him and nod before stepping aside and letting Vincent in. The blonde man looks at me with a worrisome eye before nodding his head and stepping in. 

Vincent was kind and loving towards me. He hated my father just as much as I did. But he had the unfortunate habit of forgetting his place and leaving me to get the fall back of his less than assertive nature. He stepped aside lightly to let me walk past him as I wandered the halls of my future. I was going to finally be free from the grip of an uncaring man. At least, until I was to be set up with whatever suitor my father inevitably finds for me. 

I step up the freshly built staircase and walk around the upstairs joyously as the men who traveled with me carry my belongings in and place them where they see fit. There was one room at the end of the hallway that particularly intrigued my whimsy as its door was the only door that was closed. I waltz over carefully before swinging it open in cheer. That’s when I saw him. 

I let out a loud scream before turning and closing the door and running back out of the house into my brother’s arms. “Grab the gun! There’s an intruder!” I shout while pointing to the house vigorously. My father scoffs as I cry out, waiting for me to calm down. Once I finally did, he spoke, “There is no such thing.” I shake my head with widened eyes and feel my heart begin to raise again - this time from anger. He takes a breath to begin a tangent - most likely about me being a troublesome liar - when the man I saw before pops out. I turn to look at the man quickly pointing my finger, “There he is!” The brunette man puts his hands up carefully and calmly, like he’s been through this before. He has the same look in my eyes - fear.

My father lets out a hearty laugh that is sudden and loud. We all snap our heads to the older man before he explains, “You stupid girl. That’s the contractor.” I change my face, it’s offended and confused. “He built the house, “Y/N/N.” Vincent says quietly from behind me. I turn to look at the man again, his face is soft and understanding. “Oh.” I say shortly. “Mr. Taylor, this is my ill-mannered daughter, Y/N.” Mr. Taylor nods his head slowly, smiling small with his brown eyes. My father moves to grab Vincent carefully, “And this is my son, Vincent. He��ll be the man of the house until we can find a suitor for Y/N.” Sam nods his head again, beginning to gain a look of discomfort. “Y/N, Sam will look after you when I’m away in the city for work.” Vincent says suddenly. I nod my head shortly, unsure of how I should act at this point. There was nothing I wanted less than to have my father yell at me again. Especially in front of the handsome man before me. 

“Well, I’m sure you’re more than capable of handling things yourself, but I’ll be around if you need me.” He smiles softly as he tries to show that he does not feel the same way as the old man. “Nonsense. She’ll be with you whenever Vincent is not here. I don’t want her running around alone.” Sam nods his head uncomfortably. He clearly hasn’t learned how to talk to my father just yet. “I promise not to be a bother, Mr. Taylor.” I send him a polite smile while trying to please my father. “Please, call me Sam.” My father scoffs again, “Mr. Taylor, please do not teach my daughter improper manners. The only men she doesn’t have to address by their last name are me and my son.” Sam looked at him with wider eyes than before as he nodded his head carefully.

“Vincent, everything is inside where it needs to be. I must be getting back home to your mother.” Vincent nodded his head in response to my father before moving next to me so that we could watch my father and his helpers leave together. Once the only roadster in sight was our LaSalle, Vincent let his breath go. I turned to him carefully as he moved to sit on the steps of the house just in front of Mr. Taylor. The two sat down next to each other. I walked over carefully and stood quietly.

“Y/N, we should lay down some clear guidelines.” I nod my head at Vincent calmly, but I instantly feel fear. Was he going to be as ruthless as my father after all? “First thing, you can call Mr. Taylor, Sam. Just not around father. And you don’t have to be watched at all times, you’re a grown woman and it’s time you get treated as such.” I nodded my head carefully as I watched the two with furrowed eyebrows. Sam pulled his hand out and reached it out to shake my own. I grab it slowly. “Pleasure to meet you, Y/N.” I smile softly, maybe things are going to be okay here after all.

Wiesmann MF5 GT 

The MF5 GT was in the absolute top position. This model series made its debut in 2007 during the IAA at the Wiesmann dealer in Frankfurt. It took around one and a half years before series production began. As with the MF4, a bonded and riveted aluminium chassis lay beneath the body made of glass-fiber-reinforced plastic. For the smaller MF3, Wiesmann used a tube frame.Technically, the brothers Friedhelm and Martin Wiesmann continued to use BMW components for the MF5. Only the best was good enough for the flagship. The five-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine with 373 kW/507 hp and 520 Nm of torque was taken over from the M5 (E60/E61) and M6 (E63/E64) series. The automated SMG III transmission with seven gears, the ABS and a few other driver assistance systems also came from the M6. Steering components came from the smaller 3 Series with the internal model codes E46 and E90. All around, 19-inch wheels with 265/35 ZR 19 tires at the front and 325/30 ZR 19 tires at the rear were used as standard. When BMW retired the E60, E61, E63 and E64 series and thus also discontinued production of the V10, Wiesmann switched in parallel to the V8 biturbo engine from the X5 M. This produced 408 kW/555 hp from 4.4 liters of displacement, which was transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.Initially, the Wiesmann MF5 GT was only available as a Coupé. Wider fenders, a modified front spoiler lip and a fixed rear wing clearly distinguished the car from the less powerful MF4 GT. Incidentally, the first 30 production cars of the MF5 GT had chassis numbers of its smaller brother. It wasn’t until number 031 that a separate number range began. The last MF5 GT with the V10 engine was numbered 056, and the V8 biturbo engine was subsequently fitted in just 22 cars. In September 2009, the Roadster version finally made its debut at the IAA in Frankfurt. For this car, Wiesmann used an electrically extendable rear spoiler for the first time, which generated more downforce at higher speeds. Since it was already foreseeable at the time of the premiere that the V10 engine wouldn’t be available for much longer, Wiesmann limited the MF5 Roadster to 55 units. However, due to the long production times and the fact that new EU registrations were no longer possible from 2011, only 43 were produced, followed by 63 cars with V8.

Author's note: recently German firm Wiesmann decided that its next car will be an EV, which led to this prototype: Project Thunderball. That won't be the real name, but this is mostly the real car, with 671 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. Assuming it reaches production anytime soon, it'll be the first EV roadster since the original Lotus-based Tesla. Stay tuned!

♕ ( muse p / 29 / cis woman / she, her, hers ) — did you see ZARA HART wandering around the island today? they kind of look like GRETA ONIEOGOU from certain angles? i heard around town that the ER NURSE is PLUCKY, and OPTIMISTIC, but also STUBBORN, and IMPULSIVE. people say that they remind them of PURPLE BAND-AIDS, THE SMELL OF MAPLE SYRUP, and UNTIED SHOELACES, and SPECIAL by SZA is definitely their theme song. they seem like a nice enough person, but we all know how hard it is to keep a pristine reputation in a small town. zara hart was born and raised in kings haven, massachusetts. she spent her whole life in one little town with the same greasy diners on the same three streets, and she hated it. it was probably why she got into trouble so often: idle hands, as the saying goes.

also, you know, the unmedicated adhd didn’t help lmao. 

it didn’t help that her parents spent most of their lives in the family restaurant. at first, zara did her homework in the back booths, but after one too many vaulted straws and games of 'the restaurant floor is lava', she was banished to ride her bike outside–as long as she looked both ways, twice.

her parents did their best not to let zara in on their economic problems, but it was pretty obvious as she got older. in high school, she waited tables at the restaurant, and quickly realized after watching that her parents struggle that her dreams of running away to italy, meet some dashing stranger, and then drive away from the world together into to the fading sunset in his vintage roadster weren't going to happen.

instead of living out a lifetime fairytale, she went to school online and got her nursing degree, and now she's a nurse in the er at the same hospital she was born in. 

pretty much her entire identity is taking care of other people, and her signature move is getting over-involved in people's, especially her parents. she knows that her dad has struggled with his vices in the past, so she's personally going to ensure he doesn't fall into his old habits.

overall, zara is sunshine personified ( including the searing heat from her fits of passionate rage when feels something is unjust ). she's the kind of person that believes in the best of everything (think jess from new girl, phoebe from friends, and leslie knope from parks and rec). however, she does have a quick temper, and is constantly working on being as zen as she wants people to think she is.

a goofball who enjoys pranks and shenanigans at all hours of the day. she’s lowkey an adrenal junkie; that’s why she specialized in er nursing instead. she loves the blood and gore lmao. 

she’s an avid runner. i know, gross, but she gets up at five in the morning everyday just so she can run a couple miles before work, or she'll get home and run after a graveyard shift. there's something sick in her head.

she’s a not-so-secret Hopeless romantic. her dream is to run into her soulmate on the beach at sunset, and they'll both be listening to taylor swift and somehow get their air pods mixed up.

but in reality she doesn't have time for romance after one too many failed relationships, and tbh no one can ever live up to her dream diary, so all her dates stay in her mind.

she will do anything for a friend, but she will let no man cross her–women and non-binary babes get a few more free passes.
