Notes: Kind of a lot happens in this one lol. It was originally part of chapter 12, but it got way too long so I spliced it....then this one got long too.
I’d love to know what people think of the story so far, so don’t be shy if you feel like commenting/messaging! Next update might take little longer than usual because work is kind of busy. That said, I might not be able to stay away haha.
Ok that’s it for notes. Happy reading 😘😘!
Chapter 13
Her feet were freezing. Her socks were totally soaked through…ah she remembered that. She must be dreaming. She looked up, expecting to see snow and black, snarled branches above her, but it was too dark to make anything out. That was weird. She reached up, feeling cloth brush against her hand. Her surroundings became more clear, and she started to feel more cramped than she had before. The closet. That must be where she was. She noticed the little streams of orangey light spilling into the small space, landing in stripes across her lap.
That little boy must be out there.
No.
Not just some little boy. Jungkook must be out there.
She pressed her face up against the vented door, peering through the slots, fingers trying to pry them open wider. Sure enough, a little Jungkook was sitting against the wall, knees drawn up tightly against his chest, head down. He’d been abandoned. She felt something swell in her that she’d never felt in the dream before. Outrage. Those people were supposed to protect him, love him. And they’d left him alone. How could they do that? How could anyone do that to someone so small and innocent.
She tried to open the door. She’d never done that while he was out there. She didn’t know what would happen. But that didn’t matter. She just needed to get out of this horrible little dark room and get out there to where he was, where he needed someone. The problem was she couldn’t find the door knob. Everything was confusing. She tried to cram her little 9-year-old fingers between the door and the doorframe to try and open it, but she couldn’t. She yelled out for him but no sound come out.
She resorted to banging silently on the door. She didn’t know how long that went on for before she suddenly fell out into the brightness of the room. She looked up, trying to locate Jungkook, but was met with a horrifying sight.
A faceless man was holding him roughly by his arm. Jungkook was crying and trying to pull away. Alina wanted to scream at them to stop hurting him, but still no sound came out. Her mouth snapped shut and her blood ran cold when a woman approached her. It was the woman with the blond streak matching Jungkook’s. She had a collar in her hand, which she held out to Alina.
“Put it on him.”
“What?” Alina asked, voice seeming to work again for the time being.
“Put the collar around his neck.”
Alina stared at her before looking over at Jungkook. The skin of neck looked so delicate. Everything about him looked small and fragile. He was still crying.
“No,” Alina insisted, trying to push the collar away.
“No?” The woman repeated, a sickening smile stretching across her face.
She turned, walking over to Jungkook. Then she produced a gun, pressing it up against Jungkook’s head. Alina yelled out in protest, trying to rush forward but going nowhere.
“Put the collar on him,” the woman said slowly, “or I will put a bullet in his head instead.”
“I can’t!” Alina cried, still trying to move towards Jungkook.
“You want me to kill him?” The woman taunted.
“No! I’ll put it on him! Please!”
“Then put it on him,” the woman responded, holding the collar out in her other hand.
Alina managed to get close enough to try and grab it. Just as her fingers closed around the collar, her eyes met Jungkook’s. They were round with fear, and tears spilled continuously down his ruddy cheeks.
She was broken from her trance when the woman finally uttered, “too late.”
* *
Alina shot forward with a gasp. Her heart was racing. She slumped forward, face in her hands. It wasn’t real. It wasn’t real. She looked over to Jungkook’s bed for reassurance. He was sleeping soundly, starfished out on his belly, blanket covering him from the waist down. It took everything in her not to slip out of bed and go sleep with him instead. She knew how warm it would be, and how safe it would feel, how real he would feel.
She shook her head, sighing and rubbing at her eyes. No. She couldn’t do that, and she couldn’t risk going back to sleep in her own bed. She got up quietly and left the room, closing the door silently behind her. She went into the bathroom, turning on the light. She looked a mess. Turning on the faucet, she splashed cold water against her face, trying not to think about the dream. But it had been so strange and horrifying, that it was difficult to put it out of her mind.
She put her hands on the lip the sink, leaning forward. It was fine. Actually it was better than fine, because Jungkook would be getting his collar off later today.
*****
Alina left the cafe at 3:00. Luckily one of her coworkers had agreed to cover her for the rest of the day. She was going to meet Jungkook at the gym, and then Namjoon was going to drive them to Yoongi’s shop. She was practically buzzing with nerves, but for once it was the good kind. She couldn’t even sit down on the the bus, choosing instead to stand, barely refraining from bouncing on her heels. Maybe if she got there early, they could go to Yoongi’s shop early and get it off sooner.
A part of her still worried that Yoongi wouldn’t want her there. Honestly that was the most surprising thing — that he was allowing her presence in his work shop — not the fact that Yoongi was the one who disabled collars.
Still, it was weird to know he had been so close for so long and she’d had no idea. It made sense, given how cautious and secretive he could be. Jungkook had told her that Yoongi developed a way of disabling the collars on his own through. It was beyond impressive, but it scared her that someone that smart and that relentless was was looking into her past. At some point he would figure it out. She knew that.
She opened the door to the gym and ventured into the main weight room. She spotted Jungkook quickly. He was at a punching bag, but he seemed to sense her presence, turning around.
A huge smile spread across his face, and it made Alina forget herself. Her stomach was already flipping with excitement, and she rushed to him, putting her arms around his neck. The collar would be gone soon, or as good as gone. She felt his arms tighten around her waist, putting his nose in her hair like he often did when they hugged. He was sweaty, but that was the last thing she cared about right now. Getting the collar off had felt so impossible, and now it was just within their reach, better than that, actually.
He put his hands on her shoulders, pulling away to look at her, smile still on his face. “Thank you for coming with me,” he said, keeping his eyes on her. She nodded, “there’s nowhere I’d rather be,” she said, huffing out a laugh. She felt lucky he was letting her be involved at all.
He looked down between them, then let go of her. “Ah I’m sorry. Let me shower fast before we go. You can wait in the staff room if you want,” he said, grabbing his towel and gloves and guiding into the hallway before heading for the locker room.
She went in the staff room, belly still fluttering with anticipation, and took a seat on the couch, busying herself with not thinking about Jungkook punching that sand bag in nothing but a loose tank top and sweats. She was loosing the battle, imagery replaying over and over in her head. Fortunately for her, Jimin and and Hobi came into the lounge.
“Alina!” Jimin exclaimed, coming over to sit next to her. “You and JK leaving soon?”
“Yeah he just needs to shower,” she said, unable to contain her smile.
“So what are we gonna do afterward?” Jimin asked, taking a swig of his water bottle.
“What do you mean?”
Jimin let out a frustrated noise, leaning back on the couch. “See! I knew he was gonna try and get out of this. We wanna have a little celebration - for when he gets the collard disabled,” Jimin said, keeping the last part quiet. “Jin offered up the restaurant, and I offered my place, but Jungkook keeps weaseling out, saying he’ll probably just want to go home.”
Alina was a little surprised. Jungkook wasn’t really a homebody.
“Maybe it’s because you forgot to tell him Alina was invited,” Hobi said, handing Alina a glass of water.
“Oh my gosh!,” Jimin said, eyes wide. “You’re so right!” He turned to Alina, “you are invited, I just thought that went without saying!”
Alina was a little lost, but she didn’t want Jungkook worrying about her feeling left out.
Jimin put his hand on her knee, emphasizing what he said next. “If you tell him you’d like the celebrate with the rest of us, I’m sure it will turn him around.”
“I think a party would nice, if Jungkook wants it. He definitely deserves it. Maybe we can celebrate him getting the job at the gym, too. I feel like I didn’t make enough of that.”
Jimin beamed, then looked past her, enthusiasm cresting. “Jungkook! We were just talking about you - where do you want to have the party? At Jin’s place or mine.”
Jungkook didn’t respond at first, and Alina realized he was looking in the direction of Jimin’s hand, which was still on her leg. Jimin seemed to notice, too, since he removed his hand. Before it could get more tense, Alina spoke up. “What about at our place? Mina and Courtney will probably show up, but we can just say we’re doing a late celebration for Jungkook’s job as a trainer. That’s not a total lie.”
Jimin beamed. “I think that’s a great idea. The more the merrier. I’ll call Yoongi and soften him up to the idea. How about you, Jungkook-ah.”
“I think that could be fun. The apartment is all decorated, too,” he said, nodding in agreement.
“That settles it.” Jimin said, getting up with his cellphone in hand. Can I show up early with drinks and food and stuff?
“Sure,” Alina chuckled, handing him her key. “I’ll text Mina and Court and let them know.”
Jungkook came to take Jimin’s seat when he left, resting his arm along the top of her back rest.
Alina turned towards him. “You don’t mind, right? Having a party? Jimin said earlier you didn’t seem too into the idea.”
“No, I think it’ll be fun,” Jungkook insisted.
Alina smiled in agreement, nodding.
“You in Hobi?” Jungkook asked.
“Yeah of course! Alina was right, we really have two things to celebrate. You’ve become one of our best trainers, Jungkook.”
“Ah, don’t say that. I’m still learning,” Jungkook said, clearly feeling bashful, which Alina thought was unbelievably cute.
“Well I mean it,” Hobi said before getting up. “Do you guys want to get going a little early? Like I offered earlier, Jungkook, I’m happy to drive you two.”
Alina and Jungkook both readily agreed, following Hoseok out to Namjoon’s truck.
“Hey where’s Namjoon? I haven’t seen him since this morning,” Jungkook asked, getting into the backseat cab with Alina.
“He had some business uptown, but he won’t mind us using the truck,” Hoseok said.
Yoongi’s shop was only a ten minute drive from the gym, so they arrived around 3:45. Honestly Alina wasn’t sure about what she was looking at. They’d driven deeper in the city and turned onto a side street that looked more like an ally. There was a pawn shop, a jeweler’s, and a little diner open down the street, but any other storefront was locked up with rickety metal security shutters, which was what Hobi had parked in front of.
Following his lead, Jungkook and Alina got out of the truck and watched as Hoseok knocked twice on the metal shutter. Nothing happened for a minute, but then someone pulled the shudder halfway up. Yoongi stepped out from underneath it.
“You guys ready?” He asked.
Jungkook nodded, his smile betraying his excitement.
“Okay I’m gonna leave you two with Yoongi, then. I’ve got to go pick up Namjoon. We’ll see you later at the party,” Hoseok said, giving Jungkook’s shoulder a squeeze.
Once Hoseok departed, Yoongi ushered Alina and Jungkook into the shop. “It’s easier for me if you’re laying down. Is that ok?”
“Yeah of course,” Jungkook said, looking around the room. Alina looked, too. The room was stuffed with drawers and toolboxes, which were stuffed with gadgets and tools and parts, many of which were unrecognizable to Alina. A warm lamp lit up Yoongi’s work desk. An industrial style white light in the ceiling lit up the rest of the room. It wasn’t quite dark out yet, but no natural light had any chance of entering the room. The already small and opaque glass-block windows were covered with waxy brown parchment paper. Alina felt so tempted to snoop around, just out of curiosity, but she stuck close to Jungkook’s side. She didn’t want to give Yoongi any reason to distrust her. More than anything, she desperately wanted to thank him for what he was doing for Jungkook, not to mention allowing her to come. But she didn’t, for fear of making some faux pas that would set Yoongi off.
Jungkook sat down on a padded black bench table. Alina found a stool to roll up next to him, trying to find a spot that was close but not in the way.
Yoongi was puttering around, gathering up the things he would need to disable the collar.
“How are you feeling,” Alina asked softly, resting her arms on the padded table.
“Like this isn’t real,” Jungkook said, still smiling.
Alina smiled back, looking up at him. He’d taken off his puffer coat, leaving him only in a black tee. He wasn’t wearing his hat, either, and he’d been letting this hair grow out a bit. It hung in slightly damp waves around his ears, the silvery streak falling just over his eye with the rest of his bangs.
“Okay,” Yoongi said pulling up a chair and putting his toolbox down on the cart next to Jungkook’s table. “Like I said, this could take around an hour. I can get it done in less than that if I have to, but I like being careful.”
He gestured for Jungkook to lay down, but didn’t say anything about Alina’s placement, so she stayed put.
“I’m gonna get started, so if you want to put in headphones or something you can do that now. I won’t want you to be moving a lot once I start working.”
“No I don’t need anything. I want to feel the whole process,” Jungkook said.
And with that, Yoongi began his work. Alina couldn’t help but stare. Yoongi methodically worked a previously invisible panel off the collar. He needed to use some sort of small heated saw, but he placed cotton around the vulnerable parts of Jungkook’s neck. The collar had seemed relatively thin to her, but now she realized there were copious amounts of wires and circuits inside the metal shell.
‘Maybe Yoongi won’t like someone watching him so closely’, Alina thought, which made her choose instead to rest her head on her arm against the bench, next to Jungkook’s calf. When she looked up, she saw Jungkook reaching slightly for her. She quickly brought up a hand, interlacing a few of their fingers. And that was how they stayed for around forty minutes. The sounds of Yoongi’s tinkering had nearly lulled her to sleep when she heard him set down a tool and roll a few inches away. She raised her head, fingers still holding Jungkook’s.
“We’re done,” he announced.
Alina sat up straight in her chair, regarding Jungkook expectantly. He rose up, touching the collar with this hand. It now looked that same as it did before. Yoongi had covered any indication of tampering well.
“Can I…”
“Yes. You should be able to open the collar now.”
Jungkook grasped the collar in both hands, and, after a final look at Yoongi, pulled. The collar came apart easily.
Jungkook laughed at the shock of it. “Can I take it all the way off?”
“Sure,” Yoongi smiled. “Just don’t make a habit of it when you don’t have to.”
Jungkook nodded, opening the collar further, then setting it down on the bench next to him.
Alina stared at the collar. Then her eyes wandered over to Jungkook’s bare neck. The relief came over her so suddenly and intensely that her eyes stung.
“Alina,” Yoongi said, reaching over Jungkook to take the collar. “Would you mind coming here for a moment.”
He phrased it as a request, but it sounded like a command. Alina cleared her through of whatever emotion was trying to climb its way up and stood stiffly, stepping closer to Yoongi’s chair, unsure of what he wanted from her. Yoongi closed the collar, letting it hang from his wrist.
“I just want to test it, since you’re here. Could I have your arm?”
Alina reflexively wanted to deny him access to the bracelet. She’d lived in constant fear of the thing, especially of someone else getting their hands on it. She knew she was being silly, but goose bumps pricked up on her skin as Yoongi took her arm, placing his finger on the bracelet’s trigger. She held her breath as he pressed down. Nothing happened.
“There you go,” Yoongi said, sounding satisfied.
“So we’re done? That’s really it? I can take it off whenever I want to,” Jungkook asked.
“Yup,” Yoongi replied simply, putting away his tools. “I trust you to use appropriate discretion of course.”
Alina stayed where she was, looking down at her bracelet. She wished Yoongi could take take that off, too, but she didn’t feel brave enough to ask him.
“You’re coming back to the apartment to celebrate, right Yoongi?” Jungkook asked, standing up from the table, stretching his limbs and neck like it was the first time in years.
Yoongi huffed but nodded in affirmation. “I’m pretty sure Jimin and Tae have been texting all of us for 20 minutes now asking for updates.”
Alina took out her phone, and, just as Yoongi predicted, she had ten unread messages from Jimin and Tae and two missed calls from Mina. She let out a breath. She was looking forward to the party, but she was feeling weirdly exhausted. The relief coupled with her frayed nerves over Yoongi’s little test with the bracelet made her feel a little dazed.
“I can drive us back to your place,” Yoongi offered, bringing his toolbox back over to his desk.
“Ah that would be great,” Jungkook said. “Thank you, Yoongi. For everything,” he said, tone more serious.
“Don’t mention it,” Yoongi replied, picking up his coat. “And don’t forget your collar,” he added small grin on his face.
“Right,” Jungkook said. He took the collar in his hands, put it around his neck, and closed it. It was like nothing had changed.
They left the shop, Jungkook and Alina standing back as Yoongi locked up. Alina suddenly felt like it had all moved so fast. She stole a glance at Jungkook, who was already looking at her.
“You ok?” He asked, searching her face.
“I guess — I just can’t believe you got it off. It felt so impossible before.” Her voice was shaking so she shut up, embarrassed. Jungkook stepped closer to her, pushing her hair away from her cheeks. “It’s okay, though, right?” he asked.
“Of course. I’m being silly. It’s just a little overwhelming,” she said, waving off his concern.
Her nerves and the frigid cold were only making her more shaky, and the thought of Jungkook wrapping her in a hug teased at the back of her mind. But she looked to him for too much comfort these days.
He didn’t push her to say more. He didn’t hug her either, but he took her hand in his for a moment, squeezing, then letting go.
Yoongi led them over to his car, getting in the diver’s seat and quickly turning on the heat. Jungkook climbed in back with Alina, continuing to ask Yoongi various questions about collars, how he figured them, and the like. Alina was interested, but she stayed relatively quiet throughout the drive.
*****
They got back to the apartment a little ahead of schedule. As soon as Alina opened the unlocked door, they were met with laughter and music. Courtney spotted them first, her arm around Jin’s shoulders. “Jungkook! Congratulations on your promotion!”
“Huh?”
Namjoon came over, clapping a hand on Jungkook’s back. “Yeah, you’re graduating from an assistant trainer to full-time trainer. You’re already working the hours, you deserve the title,” he said with a grin.
Jungkook laughed, accepting the praise with only a little shyness, it was their cover after all. Alina, on the other hand, couldn’t help but grin up at him.
“Come on we have food,” Tae called, gesturing for them to come sit around the coffee table. There was a spread of Chinese take-out mixed with some dishes that were clearly brought from Jin’s restaurant. At some point someone put a glass of alcohol in Alina’s hands, and the night went on from there. The food was wonderful, especially after a long day. She was sat next to Jungkook and Hoseok, which meant there was a lot of laughter from either side of her. Alina relished in it, stealing a look at Jungkook every so often, increasingly unable to tamper her own smile when she saw him. He was free. He had people who cared about him. People who would take risks for him. People who could relate at least on some level to his experience. He was radiant now, when he’d been reserved, guarded, even sullen in the first weeks of knowing him.
It was then that she decided to push him to accept this ‘pack-offer.’ The idea of ‘packs’ had haunted her for years, but that didn’t matter now. She needed to be able to move on from those feelings, because they didn’t apply to the people sitting around this table with her. And she needed to make sure she wasn’t holding Jungkook back from relationships he deserved - relationships that had brought him so out of his shell, that had just now won back his freedom. And in the unlikely case that Yoongi and Namjoon were lying, and they expected something unreasonable or wrong in return for their help and acceptance, then she and JK would leave. They’d figure something out. But for now, the guys had taken a big risk on Jungkook, and they deserved some confidence in return.
She sighed, leaning against Jungkook, happy with the position she’d come to. Somehow another beer had found its way into her hand. She sipped at it, letting the noise around her buzz. She sat quietly like that for a while, downing the rest of the bottle, before Tae, who was sitting on the other side of Hobi, got her attention with a question about music.
“Sorry?” Alina asked, sitting up straight.
“What music do you listen to. I’ve never heard you talk about any artists,” Tae repeated.
“Oh, I kind of like everything. I know that’s an annoying answer,” she said, laughing at herself. “Anything you can dance to,” she supplemented, raising her beer bottle.
“One song, the most recent one you listened to,” Tae insisted.
“Ah… ‘Ain’t no Mountain High Enough,’” Alina said.
“A classic!” Tae exclaimed, a smile on his face. “Hang on.”
Tae jumped up, heading to the speaker and taking the phone. The current song stopped, and soon Marvin Gaye was playing, Tae hiking up the volume. He ran back over to Alina, stretching out a hand flamboyantly. Alia laughed, waving her hands in front of her. “No this song is too hard to dance to,” she protested.
“No it’s not! Come on,” Tae said, grabbing her hand. Alina let herself be pulled up, still laughing. Tae swung her around the room with amazing elegance, rocking them energetically with the music. Alina gave into the movement, letting herself swing and bend at Tae’s direction, neither them able to contain their giggles. By the end of the song, Hobi and Jimin were up and dancing as well. The second song in whatever playlist Tae had chosen loaded on its own, and by the beginning of the third song Jin had dragged Courtney up to dance as well. She was maybe the least coordinated, but in fairness, it looked like she was having maybe the most fun. All of it made Alina smile so much her cheeks hurt.
The song ended and she stepped away from Tae, keeping her hand on his shoulder, trying to catch her breath. Her head was spinning. She straightened when she felt someone touch her arm. It was Jungkook. “You up for one more song?” he asked, holding his hand out to her.
“Of course,” she said, feeling her stomach flutter. It felt very different from when Tae offered to dance with her, but she tried not to let it show. Tae bowed out and headed in Mina’s direction, which made Alina smirk. Luckily a slower song came on, so she wouldn’t have to be embarrassed by her lack of endurance, especially compared to a room full of dancers.
Jungkook kept one of her hands in his and placed his other lightly on her hip. Tae had kept a significant amount of distance between them as they danced, mostly holding onto her hands. Jungkook, on the other hand, pulled her towards him so that there were only a few inches separating them. Alina felt the music melt into the background. It was like all her nerve endings were concentrated in the places where he was touching her.
To make matters worse, he was looking down at her, face set in an unreadable expression. She couldn’t hold his gaze. She knew if she did, her cheeks would set on fire, and they were already inflamed. She ducked her head, looking over his shoulder instead as they danced, Jungkook keeping their movements relatively simple.
Relax, she thought to herself, peering around the room to try and break herself out of her own head. Everyone’s energy had toned down a bit with the song. Tae and Mina were giggling softly as they danced. Hoseok was sitting down holding Namjoon’s hand in his lap, talking with Jimin and Courtney. Alina’s lips tugged into a smile when she saw Jin and Yoongi swaying to the music a few feet over. Yoongi had both arms around Jin’s neck and his head resting on Jin’s shoulder, eyes closed. Jin caught her looking and winked, which only made Alina blush more, turning her face back to Jungkook.
Her eyes wondered back to Jungkook, landing on his neck. And his collar.
She stared at it. That horrible little device was useless now, maimed and conquered by Yoongi. How could it look the same as before?
Was this whole day really a dream? Did they really go to Yoongi’s shop today and get it taken off?
On impulse, her hand moved from his shoulder, ghosting over the base of his neck to touch the collar. She placed her thumb at its bottom edge, his hair tickling her fingers as she let them wrap around towards the back of his neck. Her thumb gently stroked where the metal rested against his skin. He shivered, but his eyes were closed when she looked up at him.
For some reason her eyes were tearing up again. What is wrong with you?? Just enjoy the dance! A voice in her head shouted. But she couldn’t. She needed him to take that thing off. Images from the dream she’d had that night were starting to invade her head. She imagined a little Jungkook sitting against the wall, alone, with a collar braced chokingly tight around the delicate column of his neck. Her eyes flicked to her bracelet, sitting on her wrist right next to his throat.
As if suddenly becoming away of herself, she made to move her had away, but Jungkook stopped her, brining his own hand up to cover hers. It was too much for her. She eyes squeezed shut, and she couldn’t stop the small sob that escaped her mouth, having no other choice but to hid her face against his shoulder.
Jungkook stiffened for a moment, leaning down a little to bring his face closer to her ear. “Alina?”
She could only nod against his shirt, trying to convey that she was alright without having to use her voice, which was stuck in her throat. Instead of saying anything else, Jungkook let go of her hand and hip, putting his arms around her back in a tight hug. In return, she re-adjusted, wrapping her arms around his neck, keeping her face hidden. She could feel his shirt absorbing her tears. Some of the wetness was getting on his neck, too. There was nothing she could do to stop, but it must be grossing him out, not to mention confusing him. He’d asked her to dance and now she was crying and making a mess on him. It would be embarrassing enough when everybody else inevitably saw her nose and eyes were red from crying, especially given that there was literally nothing to cry about. It was all good news today, even if Mina and Courtney only knew about half of it.
She was just being sensitive and weird. And the alcohol definitely wasn’t helping. She needed to get a hold of herself. She tried to even and slow her breath, feeling it puff hotly against the now damp material under her cheek. His chest was warm and solid beneath her, rising and falling steadily. The music had changed, but they were barely even moving at this point; Jungkook was just rocking her side to side instead of making any effort to dance.
“Alina,” he said again, softly.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, slumped against him. She was never drinking again.
“Don’t apologize,” he said, holding her closer. “Do you want to get some air?”
“Too cold out there,” she mumbled.
He laughed under his breath, bringing his hands up to cradle her face. She tried to look away, embarrassed. He pursed his lips, clearly still concerned. “Come on,” he said, dropping his hands from her face in favor of pulling her gently by the wrist towards the hallway.
“Hey Alina, you ok?” Jimin asked as they passed him.
“Yeah I’m fine,” she said, wiping her eyes with the hand Jungkook wasn’t holding, trying to sound convincing. She gave Jimin a small smile and nod as they continued by him. Jungkook was still tugging on her so she let herself keep moving without much more of an explanation. Hopefully Jimin wouldn’t hold it against her.
Jungkook brought her into their room, closing the door behind them. The only light in the room came from her small desk lamp. There was half a glass of water on the the desk, which he brought over to her.
“I”m fine Jungkook, really,” she said, feeling a little more in control of her emotions. “I’m just - having some sort of moment.”
She sat down on the bed, holding the glass of water in her lap. He sat down next to her, nudging the glass upwards. She complied, sipping at it until it was finished, after which Jungkook took it and placed it on the floor.
“Alina, I really want you to tell me what’s bothering you if you can,” Jungkook said.
She couldn’t though. She couldn’t tell him that she was haunted by the picture of him sitting alone against her bedroom wall when they were little kids.
Instead, her hands went back to his collar. “Can I take it off?” she asked. She could see a blush reach his ears, turning them pink, but he nodded, leaning towards her.
Her fingers curled around the metal. She breathed in and pulled. The collar came apart, benign and vacant in her hands. She brought it away from him, holding it in her lap, regarding it with a strange blankness.
“It’s okay…if it will take you some time to trust me…now that it doesn’t work,” he said cautiously.
Her head shot up, staring at him. “Jungkook, that’s not — I’m not…” she tapered off, confused. Now his eyes were down, fingers fiddling with the hem of his shirt. The whole day she’d been acting weird, and she didn’t even think about what he might make of that. How could she be so selfish? Is that what he thought? That she was scared to be around him without the collar? Her stomach turned.
She curled her legs up under her on the bed so she could turn and face him completely. She put her hands on his shoulder, squeezing to emphasize what she said. “I’m not afraid of you Jungkook. I told you before. I was never going to use the thing. It’s ok if you don’t believe me yet, but it was never an option for me. I decided to trust you when I brought you here, whatever the consequences. And it’s not like I didn’t know anything about you - don’t forget that you saved me first,” she said, chin getting wobbly again, dropping her hands from his shoulders. “I’ve come to trust and depend on you more than anyone else. I…I don’t even know what I’d do without you,” she said, huffing out a self-deprecating laugh, looking away from him because it was quickly becoming too much for her. “So, please, please don’t think that after all this time I’m anything other than overjoyed that this horrible thing is off of you.”
The music from the living room buzzed mutedly from behind the door. Other than that, the room remained silent. Did he not believe her? Is that why he wasn’t saying anything? She glanced up at him, but he was looking at her with that unreadable expression again. Her eyes dropped back down, floundering as she tried to think of what else she’d done wrong.
He leaned in so quickly she didn’t even notice he’d moved, but suddenly she felt him pressing his lips earnestly against her own. It surprised her so much that she broken away quickly, gasping slightly for air. Her stomach was in her throat, her heart felt like it couldn’t go any faster. She instinctively brought her fingers up to touch her lips.
“I — I’m sorry,” Jungkook stuttered. He looked beyond embarrassed, and like he’d surprised himself. His cheeks were red; his eyebrows drew together. He shook his head, moving away from her. “I didn’t mean —”
Alina couldn’t let him finish, cupping his face in her hands and kissing him urgently. He let out a small noise of surprise, before quickly kissing her back, pulling her close to him. His mouth was unbelievably hot, and it made her whole body burn. She didn’t know she could love kissing someone this much. The kiss was searing and desperate, yet Jungkook was still as careful and as tender as he always was.
He broke away first but didn’t move more than half an inch away, breathing heavily, forehead nearly touching her’s. Alina’s lips stayed parted as she tried to catch her breath. Her mind was racing so fast, it may as well have been blank. Why was he kissing her? More importantly why was he stopping?
“Alina…I don’t…” he panted, “I’m so afraid of loosing you. Sometimes I can’t believe any of this is real.”
Why on earth would he be afraid of loosing me? She thought to herself. That was the last thing he needed to worry about. “You won’t loose me,” she said breathily. “You can have anything you want from me.”
He didn’t say anything at first, jaw tense. “I don’t deserve it.”
Alina didn’t know what he meant, but she knew one thing for certain, and she’d had just enough to drink that night that she was going to tell him. “That’s not true. You deserve more than I can ever give you,” she said, touching his chin and moving his face so that she could see him. “But I need you, so I’m going try and keep you for as long as you’ll let me,” she added, giving him a little smile.
His eyes were starting to look watery. Instead of pushing her away like she feared, he pulled her onto his lap. Her knees pressed into the bed on either side of his waist, and he tugged her as close to him as she could get, placing her head on his shoulder. As intimate as the position was, he wasn’t trying to do anything besides hug her to him. But Alina’s eyes found the bare skin of his neck again, already so close to her lips, and she couldn’t help herself. She leaned in, pressing a soft line of kisses up his bare throat. Jungkook’s breath stuttered, hands grasping at the back of her shirt. She kissed him more, stopping to suck on one spot gently.
“Alina.” He was already panting again.
“Do you want me to stop?”
“No.”
She nearly giggled at his insistence, smiling as he brought her face back to his, kissing her slowly this time. They stayed like that for who knows how long, just kissing. They didn’t touch each other any more intimately that that. Jungkook kept his hands on her jaw, sometimes placing them on her back or on her thighs, but never in a way that pushed things further.
She broke away, needing a moment to breathe and look at him. She brushed his bangs away from his face. She’d always wanted to touch his silver hair, so she did, running her finger tips along the strands. It was as silky as the rest of his hair. Her eyes moved up to his wolf ears. She was being greedy now.
Evidently he'd noticed where she was looking. “You can touch them if you want,” he said.
It seemed like his mood was lifting, which made Alina happy. His eyes twinkled with good natured humor as he looked up at her. She was feeling better too, mind hazy with arousal and curiosity.
Well, if he was okay with it…
She kept one hand in his hair, balancing herself and rising up a little so she could see better. As soon as her fingers made contact with the black fur, his ear twitched, causing her to pull back.
“Sorry…they’re a little sensitive I guess,” Jungkook said. Alina looked down at him and nearly melted. He was looking up, as if trying to watch her hand above his head, round doe eyes open and unguarded, waiting with his hands placed on her back.
It was hard to look away from his face, but she retuned to her task and tried again. She let her fingers go to the back of his ear, resting them there. His fur was so soft, she wished she could put her cheek against it. She gently scratched the fluffier fur at the base, then moved up to massage the velvety coat further up. They weren’t just cute, they were beautiful, and they felt more wonderful than anything she’d ever touched.
Jungkook let out a soft sigh, relaxing under her touch, eyes closing. It seemed like he liked what she was doing, so she lowered herself back down to his lap, guiding his head to rest on her. She brought her other hand to his unattended ear, mirroring her movements there. Jungkook sighed again, although this one sounded a little closer to a moan.
“I’ve wanted to do this for a while,” she admitted, tone hushed. He turned his head slightly, burying his nose in her neck, kissing her skin chastely. It made her heart stammer. “What does it feel like?” She asked, curiosity getting the better of her.
“Good,” he breathed out. “I haven’t had…no one’s done this in while.”
The way he said it made her heart ache. She’d happily stay like this forever if he wanted.
“It’s kind of…intimate,” he explained quietly. “It’s one of the ways parents might show love to their children, but it’s different when different people do it. Like with a friend or a lover.” He stopped there, getting a little shy.
Alina had his ears cupped in her hands as she listened to him. She wasn’t brave enough to ask him what category he was placing her in: friend or lover. She didn’t know what any of this meant. Honestly, she didn’t want to think about it now. She closed her eyes, letting her jaw rest against the side of his head, continuing her ministrations. They would talk about it later. Right now, she’d savor what she had.
She noticed that if she got too close to the pink part of the interior, his ear would twitch in way that seemed irritated, so she stayed away from it. When she massaged the base of the ear, they would sort of preen with the movement, which she took as encouragement.
She could truly do this forever, she thought, lightly grazing the tips of both ears. She wasn’t sure if Jungkook was still awake, but when she adjusted her position, he tensed, letting out a groan. Her confusion was quickly replaced by heat, as she realized her crotch was now pressing against a bulge in his pants. Her pulse spiked once again. At this rate her ears were going to be permanently red.
“Sorry,” he mumbled, pushing her hips away so there wasn’t so much contact. She could almost feel his wolf ears getting hotter.
She let go of his ears, holding his face up to hers. “Don’t apologize,” she said, repeating what he’d said to her earlier. Then she kissed him again, to prove that she meant it, and he kissed back with equal vigor, although he continued to hold her hips where they were.
They kept kissing like that for a long time. Her body was still flushed with excitement, but her heart rate eventually slowed to something more comfortable, leaving her feeling both blissful and tired. Her eyelids had become so heavy she wasn’t sure she could open them if she wanted to. Maybe Jungkook was feeling the same way, or maybe he noticed she was loosing stamina. Whatever the case, he pulled away.
“I think the party is winding down. I don’t hear music anymore,” he said.
Alina hummed in acknowledgment.
“Do you want to call it a night?” He asked, rubbing her back. She accidentally let her eyes fall to his crotch, feeling like it was wrong to leave him high and dry.
“Eh - don’t, don’t worry about that,” he said self-consciously.
“I can help.” She was never this brave…maybe all this time all she needed was more beer and less sleep.
“No. It’s ok. It will go away,” he insisted.
She felt kind of dejected at his refusal, but she supposed it was for the best. Maybe he didn’t want to go that far with her. Besides, waves of exhaustion were hitting her harder and harder.
“I don’t really want to go back out there…,” she admitted. “But it was your party!” she realized out loud. “Do you want to go catch the end of it?” She asked, feeling weirdly guilty for the moment she’d chosen to make out with him. He’d missed nearly half of his own celebration!
“I’d rather just stay here. I’m tired, too.”
With that, they slowly parted from one another. Alina rose up off his lap, moving to stand next to the bed. She felt cold without him, which made her look around for one of his sweatshirts. Was it okay for her to continue stealing his clothes after what they’d just done? Hopefully the answer was yes, because she was desperate for some trace of his warmth. She spied his black hoodie lying in the corner. Without thinking she unhooked her bra and starting shucking off her shirt as she went over to it. She’d started changing when he was in the room a while ago, tired of having to change in the relatively cramped bathroom. It was too late to turn back now, anyway, so she proceeded to pull on the sweatshirt. Jungkook’s head whipped to the side when she turned around.
“Is it - ok if I wear this?” She found herself asking.
The look he sent her was was hard to characterize, perhaps disbelief? He huffed out a laugh, shaking his head. “Alina, you never have to ask to wear my clothes.”
Noted, Alina thought, happy as she changed into a pair of pajama pants.
“Let’s do teeth,” Jungkook said, stripping down to his boxers like he always did, pulling on a new shirt.
After that, the night started to feel like any other night. They snuck into the bathroom together and brushed their teeth, Alina sitting on the closed toilet lid, eyes dropping.
When they got back to the room, it felt like maybe nothing had ever happened. Except that Jungkook still wasn’t wearing his collar. …Oops. They definitely should have put that back on before leaving the room.
“Uh, Jungkook - should you put the collar back on before we go to bed? In case someone comes in or there’s some sort of emergency?”
“Oh, good idea. I probably should have put it back on before the bathroom,” he said, frowning.
She watched him click it back into place, already wishing she could take it off again.
She didn’t want him to feel like she was staring, so she got into bed, snuggling deep into the covers. Jungkook went over to the desk and turned out the light. The bed felt incredibly lonely without him. Could she ask him to come over and sleep with her? Or was it like those other times that they they’d been close, where they acted like it never happened afterward. The kissing was was a new and complicated factor. She cursed her past self for being so confident that they could just ‘talk about things later.’
Her internal debate was interrupted by Jungkook’s voice.
“Alina?” He asked. He was already kneeling in his own bed, she could just make out his shape.
“Yeah?”
“Can I sleep up there?”
She smiled in relief, heart thumping. “Yes please.”
He got under the covers, and she reached for him to come closer. He smiled, but stopped short, pausing awkwardly for a second.
“Umm—.” He cut himself off, grabbing a pillow from behind her and putting it in between them.
“You're still hard?” She asked in disbelief.
“D-don’t say it like that!” He complained, still pulling her close.
She laughed. “No — I mean — it’s impressive! That’s all.”
He groaned, burying his face in her hair.
“Are you going to be able to sleep?”
“Yes.”
“It seems like —”
He cut her off with a kiss. She hummed, leaning into it, closing her eyes. He pecked her lips one last time, then cuddled back down next to her, squeezing her tightly in his arms.
“Let’s talk tomorrow…about all of this.” He said after a few moments.
“Yeah,” Alina replied sleepily, reaching up a hand to cradle one of his fluffy ears. He sighed, clearly happy, and she smiled, feeling like she’d never been able to fall asleep this comfortably. For the time being it seemed like both of them were content to hold each other and worry about everything else later. It had been a roller-coaster of a day, and neither wanted to jeopardize the peace and contentment of holding each other for at least that night.

M.COM ENTRANCE EXAM COACHING- FOLLOW THESE SMART TIPS TO CRACK EXAM IN ONE ATTEMPT
After completing graduation most of the students planned to go for higher education. Every stream has their own higher studies like non-medical students go for M.Tech/M.Sc while commerce students moved for M.Com courses. Master of Commerce (M.Com) is a postgraduate level course to the students of commerce who want to see their career in the specific field like Economics, Commerce and Management.
There are numerous institutes/colleges and university in the country who are offering these courses to students. A selection procedure is followed by the top-notch colleges, so if you want to get admitted in the top colleges you have to clear the entrance exam.
MCom differs from other business and management degrees, as discussed below:
After graduation students have two options in the arenas of management like MCom, MBA. If we discussed, MCom which is different from generalist degrees, such as the MBA as it provides specialization in one area.It is more based on theory rather than practical as compared to the professional courses similar to this.
M Com course duration:
After the successful completion of a two years program, Master of Commerce a postgraduate academic degree is bestowed to students.
Some Smart Study Tips to Prepare well for Exam:
a. Setup your mind:
The best way to clear any entrance exam is to set your mind and plan it in the right direction. Consult your seniors to find out the scope and the rough idea about the exam. Collect all the idea that when it is conducted and what is the eligibility criterion.
It is not easy to crack any competitive exam without preparation. So start preparing from the first day you decided otherwise last moment will lead you to exhaustion and stress only.
b. Complete mapping:
After making your mind, all you need is to pen down all the things that are essential to crack an exam like syllabus, books, and study material/notes. Verbal Abilities, Math and English are major subjects for which collect appropriate notes. Make time-table on a daily basis and planned what to study next based on its marks ratio in the exam. Study for at least four hours in the direction of your time table.
c. Stress free environment:
Studying hard is good but extracurricular activities are also necessary, so take out some time for your hobbies as well. It will help you to remain rejuvenate towards life and your dreams. To avoid windbag, shuffle your subjects after a certain period of time. The environment must be positive for which you should remain motivated all the time. Meditation is the best way to keep staying rejuvenates.
d. Notes on tips:
Whatever you learn, note it down in a notebook as we all know human can remind things only for 24 hours if they just read that data. So write more and more to learn and also make proper notes so that you can revise only important topics at the time of examination.
e. Set deadline:
Set pre dates for everything on your mobile or calendar. It will help you stay on track and finish your all syllabus before time. After completing all your revision till this date, start giving mocks tests or practice previous papers.
IS COACHING IS REQUIRED FOR M COM ENTRANCE EXAM?
Are you confused whether to take coaching or not? In my observation one should go for M Com entrance exam coaching to take expert guidance. With the help of coaching you can crack exam in one attempt without wasting another year in preparation. You can also take guidance from your seniors. Revise all your B Com concepts and stay focused during your graduation if you seriously want to do your masters from renowned college or university.
So, work hard for your dreams...
Best of luck...

Silver Moon Ch.1
Fandom: 방탄소년단 | Bangtan Boys | BTS
Relationship: Jeon Jungkook/OC
Words: 919 Chapters: 1/__ Language: English Rating: Explicit Warnings: Past trauma, violence, slow burn but the smut will hit hard, corny hybrid tropes, is this enemies to lovers? are these even warnings? (I will probably add to this list as I write) Category: M/F
Parts: 1, 2, --> masterlist
Summary:
Hybrids are hardly the biggest part of Alina’s life. In fact, she tries her best to ignore anything hybrid-related. She is content to study for her entrance exam to grad school and try to live as innocuously as possible. But the events of her past will com back to haunt her when she becomes indebted to a hybrid named Jungkook. Their lives have become inextricably intertwined, but will they be able to trust each other? Will they be able to stand with each other in order to survive? Will they be able to stand each other at all?
Chapter 1 [Intro]
All children learn about the history of human-hybrid relations:
“In the past, humans lived in fear of hybrids, who have gone by many different names through the ages - wolf-men, werewolves, or simply monsters. But over time, hybrids have become successfully domesticated. No modern hybrid can fully transform into wolf, only visibly differentiated from humans by their superior physicality and some physical markers, mainly their ears and tails. Intellectually, however, hybrids are far inferior to humans. If left alone, they would organize in violent packs as they had in the past, target humans, and live without fulfillment. But today, they live happy lives with human owners, ensuring the safety of hybrid and human alike. Moreover, the modern invention of the Hybrid Collar cements this happy future. Each hybrid is fitted with a collar, which is sealed and irremovable. The collar, using shock therapy, can incapacitate the hybrid. Each owner has a bracelet which controls their hybrid’s collar, and all first responders and officials of a certain rank have master bracelets, which will work on all collars. With this system in place, hybrids and humans can live in harmony.”

Alina age 9
It was way below freezing outside, the snowfall so dense that one could barely see ten feet away. Alina had been in the closet for what felt like hours. It must almost be morning. But she was still too scared to get up, too scared to even move, trying not to breathe too loud. The boy was still sitting outside against the wall. The people with him seemed to have left. Alina could feel her breath start to elevate again as she thought of her family, mauled and bleeding in the other room. Her aunt, her parents…and it was probably still snowing outside, no one would be coming to help them. The closest neighbor was 20 minutes away. The events of the past few hours cycled on replay in her head…
It was already late at night when the family had heard howling and noises outside their house. Alina’s aunt seemed be on edge right away. She had pulled Alina away towards her bedroom just as something crashed through their front door. Alina saw enough to know it was a monster. Horrible noises followed, and Alina’s aunt kept her hand around Alina’s mouth.
Things went quiet for a moment. The snarling stopped, then muffled voices could be heard. More minutes went by. Then the door to the bedroom opened. A woman in a tank top and cargo pants came in. Alina stared with wide, petrified eyes. The woman was beautiful. She was pale with jet black hair, but she had a stripe of silver blond hair that fell just to the side of her face. But she also had blood in her hair, and on her clothes. The woman grabbed Alina’s aunt, who started screaming. A man came in as well and took Alina’s aunt from the woman. Alina cried harder as the woman took her arm.
“Jungkook come here,” the woman shouted.
A little boy, about the same age as Alina, appeared in the doorway. He could have been any other boy, standing there in a slightly tattered sweater and jeans, but he had the same silvery blond streak in his hair as the woman. As he came closer Alina saw that half of his right eye brow had the same blond coloring. The rest of his hair was dark like the woman’s.
A different man came in and pushed the boy closer.
“It’s your turn,” the woman said to the boy, “you’re old enough now.”
Up until now the boy had worn a stoic controlled look on his face, but now his chin wobbled and he cast his eyes to the floor.
“Jungkook”
“Please, mom, I don’t want to. Please don’t make me.”
The woman let out a frustrated, angry grunt, almost yelling, “she’s like the rest of them. You need to prove you can be a part of this pack.”
Alina was sobbing a this point. She looked up at the boy, who was watching her. Finally, tears started rolling down his cheeks, and he shook his head no.
The woman let out another angry noise and threw Alina down to the floor in front of the boy.
“Fine! If her life matters more to you than your pack, then you’ve made your decision.”
A few other people had gathered at the entrance to the room, watching the display unfold. The woman didn’t seem to pay them any mind. Walking past Jungkook, she looked back, saying, “you’ve chosen the human so you can keep her. That’s my last gift to you. You have no right to this family any more. Don’t follow us.”
As the boy had stood watching his family leave, Alina had taken the opportunity to flee to the closet. She’d stayed there breathing hard until she heard a soft thud. Alina slowly moved so she was facing the closet door, light peaking through the vented openings. She put her face closer to the door, trying to pear through the slating. She could see the boy had slumped down to the floor against the wall. She sat back, starting to cry again, wishing the boy would just leave. They both stayed this way for a few more hours, the boy sitting in the room and Alina in the closet. At some point Alina passed out. When she awoke, the boy was gone.
