I was watching another episode of Hotel last night and both Paul Burke (Neal McVane) and Vernon Weddle (Afferton/Mr. Alpert) popped up. Burke was playing a married senator with presidential aspirations who was in love with another woman. Despite how it sounds, his character was not nearly as corrupt as Congressman McVane. His aide was played by Vernon Weddle, who was in two episodes of Dynasty: one, as the snobby wedding planner Afferton in the pilot, and, two, as Mr. Alpert, the man in the UFO support group that Fallon attended in Season 8.

What a pleasure it was to spend Saturday afternoon at Brighton’s Jubilee Library with happy band of cartoon drawing, collage sticking, badge creating people joyously taking part in a Young, Queer and Invincible creative drop-in with photographer Lynn Weddle, Photoworks UK and Allsorts Youth Project as part of this year’s City Reads festival. Each and every participant really entered into the spirit of the Young, Queer & Invincible theme and produced some true works of art – and it was such a good humoured occasion too! This was my first ever time as a co-workshop leader so the nerves were jangling. But I needn’t have worried as all the other participants and my lovely co-workers made it a joyful and fabulous occasion. The way everyone gleefully grabbed pens, cameras and scissors was a sight to behold. Thanks to each of you for making the afternoon really special…..and those cakes were pretty good too. Thank you to everyone who made it such a life affirming success. Until next time my drawing, collaging, badgemaking, photo taking super heroes!

Chargers blocking Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates from attending LaDainian Tomlinson’s Hall of Fame induction
It’s unfortunate and unnecessary.
Philip Rivers spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Chargers playing with LaDainian Tomlinson. Antonio Gates spent the first six years of his alongside the running back. So it’s unfortunate that the Chargers won’t let Rivers or Gates miss a training camp practice on Saturday to see their former teammate inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Anthony Lynn, the new head coach of the Chargers, refused to give Rivers or Gates permission to go to Canton to attend the ceremony, two sources told Alex Marvez of Sporting News.
It’s pretty standard for teams to allow players time off to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony. Larry Fitzgerald will be there on Saturday to support his former quarterback, Kurt Warner, who is a member of the 2017 Hall of Fame class.
Rivers has been doing this since he came into the league in 2003, and Gates has been at it since he was signed by the team as an undrafted free agent in 2004. Training camp has to be pretty routine for these two veterans. Missing a single practice wouldn’t negatively impact either one of them.
Gates is reportedly considering skipping practice anyway to go to Tomlinson’s induction, even though the team could fine him for it. You’d like to think the Chargers would let it slide because it would be the right thing to do, but this is also a team that fined Eric Weddle $10,000 for watching his daughter perform during halftime of a game in 2015.
Forcing Gates and Rivers to be at practice — which will be the first one in the StubHub Center — isn’t going to make the Chargers any better this season. Any seasoned veteran could miss a training camp practice without skipping a beat. It’s shameful that the Chargers won’t allow Rivers and Gates to go support Tomlinson in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Chargers 2017 NFL Mock Draft Selections
The Los Angeles Chargers have a variety of needs to be addressed during the offseason and in the upcoming NFL Draft. Their first round (No. 7) pick could be used to improve at tackle, wide receiver, or safety.
General manager Tom Telesco is entering his fifth NFL Draft with the organization but first with new head coach Anthony Lynn. Telesco has had some success through the draft with his most notable contributions coming from last season’s rookie class.
First-round pick Joey Bosa was awarded the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year while linebackers Joshua Perry and Jatavis Brown also contributed and are expected to be a big part of new defensive coordinator Gus Bradley’s defense. On offense, second-round pick tight end Hunter Henry excelled as well.

Decision Time: What should the Vikings do with AP?

NFL Draft: The five most polarizing prospects in this year’s draft class
Chargers News: Lynn’s Coaching Staff Finalized

Chargers News: 2017 Schedule Presents Unique Challenge
Media outlets around the country are busy playing general manager and predicting when prospects will hear their name called on draft day. Telesco’s current pattern involves alternating from offense to defense with each year’s first round selection.
As current players are resigned or released and the free agency period begins a more clear picture of those picks will become available. Regardless, following are the latest prognostications as to who will be the newest member of the Chargers.
NFL.com – Malik Hooker – Safety – Ohio State
Hooker’s range and ball skills are top-10 worthy.
CBS – Malik Hooker – Safety – Ohio State
The Chargers won big with Joey Bosa a year ago and could see another Buckeye as an ideal replacement for Eric Weddle, whom the club clearly missed in 2016. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Hooker possesses the range and ball skills to complement San Diego’s small but physical cornerbacks.
ESPN – Cam Robinson – Offensive Tackle – Alabama
At 6-6 and 310 pounds, Robinson was a three-year starter for the Crimson Tide and played in a pro-style offense. He earned the Outland Trophy as the nation’s top offensive lineman in 2016.
FOX SPORTS – Ryan Ramczyk – Offensive Tackle – Wisconsin
The former Division III player is going to jump Cam Robinson and be the top offensive tackle taken in the draft. No one, including Ramczyk would have guessed that a year ago.
