For your six month anniversary Jack takes you away for a weekend in a luxury cabin. It’s a secluded space in the middle of nowhere, miles away from civilisation. The perfect place for the digital detox he so badly needs.
“I’ve always had this fantasy.” You tell Jack as you stand in front of the floor to ceiling windows, staring into the trees outside. “Of being about being chased through the woods.”
“Maybe we can make that come true.” Jack whispers into you ear, his arms wrapping around your waist. “I know how much you like being caught…”
You play a game sometimes back in the city, you’ll snag something of Jack’s, something he usually needs at the time like his watch or tie and he’ll have to find a way to get it back. Your cheeks always get a little flush, your eyes a little bright as you try to evade him and when he catches you…
Well those are the days he goes to work with the taste of you still lingering on his lips.
Before you play Jack makes sure to set some boundaries. You have to wear something white so he can see you against the darkness, and you have to take the path that leads down towards the lake, he doesn’t want you getting lost or hurt in the woods.
The goal is to get to the lake before he gets to you.
He’ll give you a thirty second head start.
It’s warm outside so you dress for the occasion. You wear a light, gauzy sundress that flutters in the breeze and already his cock is straining in his jeans because you’ve decided to forgo a bra. He can see the silhouette of your nipples under the white material, his gaze strays lower and he can see that little dark triangle between your legs and his cock starts to leak.
“No panties.” He says as he sets the timer on his watch. “You are a naughty girl Professor.”
You give him that sultry smile of yours before he presses the button on his watch.
“Go.”
You’re off like a shot, bolting into the woods and every single nerve ending in his body screams at him to follow. His senses heighten, his instincts kick in, he’s chomping at the bit because you, you are far too tempting even when you’re not in flight. He gives you twenty seconds before he takes off after you.
The thing that he loves most about the game you play back in Chicago?
It’s the chase.
There’s an exhilaration in it, a thrill that courses through his body as lopes after you, catching a flash of white through the trees.
You don’t realise how close he is until his arm encircles your waist, hurling you against him. You let out a filthy laugh as he clasps you close, burying his face into the curve of your throat, nipping at that space just underneath the curve of your jaw.
“You still into this?” He asks you as he traps you between a tree and his firm, unrelenting body. His hand pins your wrists above your head, your ass tucking perfectly against his hips as your cheek grazes the bark.
“I swear to God, if you don’t fuck me right now…” Your words are cut off as he bites down on your shoulder, giving way to a heady moan. He unfastens his jeans, shoving them down his hips, thrusting inside of you, hard, fast, deep and the noise you make, it obliterates him completely.
“Fuck, I love you.” He whispers into your skin, his free hand threading through your hair, pulling at the roots. “Love that you’re into this just as much as I am.”
You’re on the cusp, Jack can feel it and it makes him all the more feral because he needs you to get off on his cock, he needs to hear you scream out his name into the stars so that even God All Mighty knows just how good he fucks you.
“Say my name Amélie.” He hisses into your ear as your cunt grips him so tightly that it sends him hurtling over the edge with you. “Say my fucking name.”
Love Jack? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

Anyone who has ever lived in a big city knows to generally avoid eye contact with strangers. Pan-handlers, petitioners trying to garner signatures, or salespeople trying to sell their wares—avoiding eye contact is the first line of defense towards preventing awkward social situations.
I used to be a doorman in downtown Chicago, and part of my responsibility was acting as a gatekeeper, securing the luxurious lobby entrance from anyone who wasn’t authorized to be there. It was a job that was part security guard and part host—providing the services expected of the wealthy tenants who paid a premium price to live there.
During the countless hours of observing the busy downtown streets, I would daily see the many unique interactions that occur within cities: business people hustling to and from meetings, buskers playing a tune to anyone who would listen, shoppers admiring the large window displays of name-brand stores, tour buses slowly navigating their way towards their venues, and the general patterns of crowds that ebb and flow past the skyscraper-lined avenues.
Without fail, there would be tourists and visitors who would stand out—looking around with expressions of curiosity, excitement, and revealing themselves through the most obvious tell: making eye contact.
Inevitably, they would become targets for people who ask them for money, ask them to give their signature to prevent pollution, and would be accosted by all types of aggressive personalities who would want to take advantage of their vulnerability—their unfamiliarity with the urban norms of being cold and unapproachable in public spaces.
How were they supposed to know that saying “fuck off” was a generally acceptable response used by everyone from sweet old grandmothers to their sweet little grandkids. How would a suburban or rural family visiting the city from some far off corner of the world know that vulgarity and threats of violence were socially acceptable here? They didn’t. So instead, they would try to be polite, and listen to the stories of people down on their luck for blocks at a time, awkwardly trying to assess how to get away from a stranger who wouldn’t leave their side.
If they gave money, the transaction would elicit more strangers to confront them asking for money. If they refused to offer money, they would face begging, yelling, or even violent threats. Once the eye contact caused social engagement, there was often no good ending.
One night as I worked my shift as a doorman, a tenant walked in a said they were concerned about a man who was shouting outside on the sidewalk. I assumed it was someone tweaked out on drugs, but since residents were concerned about the loud noise, I felt responsible to go outside and check it out.
There he was, a man who appeared to be in his upper forties yelling up at the sky. He was confronting people, trying to get them to look him in the face—no Chicagoans were stopping for him. The man was screaming, yelling, and even appeared to be crying. I didn’t think much of it until I saw a resident I knew walking down the sidewalk and heading for my condominium’s entrance—and the man was making a beeline for them.
I felt obligated to somehow prevent this man from accosting the resident, so before he could confront them I called out to him and waved him over to me as I moved away from the lobby’s entrance. I made eye contact with him.
The man immediately showed me a picture. It was of a young woman—probably a high school picture. His eyes were swollen from sobbing, and he had a look of desperation in his eyes. “Look at her. Look at her!” He sobbed to me, pushing the picture up towards my face so I could see it.
“Why?!” he cried again. He yelled up at the buildings that towered above him, as if begging the tenants inside to come out and answer him.
“What’s going on?” I asked cautiously, watching his hands and preparing to defend myself in case he suddenly attacked.
Although the exact words now escape my recollection, he yelled something like, “My daughter is dead! They killed her! She went to Iraq! Why did we go there?!”
Through angry yells and heartbreaking sobs I soon learned that he had just found out that his daughter—a member of the American military—had been killed in Iraq.
I didn’t know what to do other than to look at the picture of her that he was waving in my face. I eventually looked at him and said “I’m sorry.”
He then grabbed me by the shoulders and started sobbing. I stood there, and then held him as he cried.
It was awkward, and after a few minutes he stumbled away, and I went back into the building lobby and resumed my role as being a doorman.
That incident happened years ago, but I’ll never forget the man’s face and words. He was utterly broken and devastated. He had lost his child, his beloved daughter was gone forever, and he could never get her back.
I was a young college kid at the time, probably around the same age as the man’s daughter, and I was reminded that life can be cruel and unfair. And looking back, I wish I had been more caring, and brave enough to sit with that man until he could get into a better state. I wish I would’ve realized that it’s ok to look awkward in public and that there are more important things than work responsibilities or how you look in public.
I hope that man got somewhere where he could be supported by loving friends and family. But I don’t know what happened to him.
I remember what an impression the man had on me because he introduced me into a reality that was meaningful and important—a world where real wars were being fought and loved ones were being violently killed.
We can’t always live our lives worrying about the heavy things in life, but we shouldn’t wholly embrace a life of superficial escapism. Sometimes we need to connect in meaningful ways with people—to risk eye contact with those who aren’t being truly seen.

4/30 Burberry
Strategic decisions & vulnerability
Burberry weakened its identity by having designers spread all throughout the world. This makes it harder for the brand to have consistency with its identity. Additionally, the store experience differs depending on the location (the case mentioned Chicago vs Tokyo, for example). Having walked past the Burberry in Chicago, I can attest to the brand being right in the middle of the "Rodeo drive of Chicago" with plenty of other luxury stores on the same street. However, with Burberry's target customers being both better educated and better traveled, it is more important than ever to maintain consistency in the experience at each store and among licensees.
Counterfeits
ChatGPT says Hermès is least likely to be harmed by counterfeits. I agree with this. If "Chav"-type consumers have counterfeit birkin bags, it is immediately obvious to the customers that Hermès cares most about, so much so that the brand image is not tarnished.
Consumers defend brands
Consumers defend brands by diving into the culture and knowing the ins and outs of the brand and the products they provide. I've watched reels of sales associates being blindfolded and being able to determine the brand of a bag based solely on touch. Brands that stick to the consistent construction etc. of their products have a better chance of having consumers who will be able to tell counterfeits apart easily.

Bitcoin, the popular cryptocurrency created in 2009, was initially intended to be used for daily transactions, ranging from buying a cup of coffee to purchasing a computer. However, its acceptance among retailers and consumers has been unpredictable, parallel to its volatile nature in the crypto markets. Yet, as its value surged in 2017, its appeal as a currency grew. RIP VIrgil Abloh
Virgil Abloh died on November 28, 2021, after a private battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. He was 41. The Off-White founder and Men’s Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton was most recently seen in Doha, Qatar, at the opening of his exhibition “Figures of Speech.”
Personal Life/A Hero Is Born :
Abloh was born on September 30 outside of Chicago. He and his sister are raised in nearby Rockford, by Ghanaian immigrant parents. Abloh attends the Boylan Catholic High School—official colors green and white—and graduates in 1998. His mother is a seamstress and teaches him the tricks of her trade.
Abloh completes his undergraduate degree in civil engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. (In 2015, he would return to design commemorative tees for the university.) Rumor has it that on the day of his graduation, he skips his final critique to take a meeting with Kanye West’s then-manager John Monopoly. West and Abloh begin officially working together soon after.
In 2006 Abloh completes his master’s degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology. During his time at IIT, a Rem Koolhaas building is completed, which Abloh says, “piqued my interest and opened my gateway into fashion.”
The Beginning Of A Legend:
In 2009 Abloh and West become interns at Fendi in Rome. Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke recently told The New York Times, “I was really impressed with how [Abloh and West] brought a whole new vibe to the studio and were disruptive in the best way. Virgil could create a metaphor and a new vocabulary to describe something as old-school as Fendi. I have been following his career ever since.”
Abloh and West, along with a crew of famous friends, make the rounds at Paris Fashion Week, turning heads in the process. They’re photographed by Tommy Ton for http://Style.com outside of the Comme des Garçons show in what becomes a widely circulated pic. Abloh tells W magazine, “We were a generation that was interested in fashion and weren’t supposed to be there. We saw this as our chance to participate and make current culture. In a lot of ways, it felt like we were bringing more excitement than the industry was.”
In 2010 Abloh officially assumes the role of creative director at Donda, West’s creative agency.
In 2011 Abloh art directs the album Watch the Throne by Jay-Z and West, an achievement that earns him a Grammy nomination. The album cover is designed by Riccardo Tisci, then the creative director of Givenchy, a role Abloh was rumored to be up for after “Tisci’s departure” in 2017.
It’s 2012 Abloh launches his first brand, Pyrex Vision, in New York. He purchased deadstock Ralph Lauren flannel shirts for $40 each, and screen printed them with the word Pyrex and the number 23, an homage to his childhood hero, Michael Jordan. They sell for $550 each.
2013, Abloh shutters Pyrex and founds Off-White, a multi-platform creative endeavor based in Milan. Its main medium is fashion. At Off-White, he combines ideas of streetwear, luxury, art, music, and travel, defining the brand simply as, “the gray area between black and white as the color Off-White.” From the get-go, hovering quotation marks become Abloh’s signature.
In 2014 Abloh launches womenswear for Off-White and begins showing his men’s and women’s collections during Paris Fashion Week.
2015 Abloh’s womenswear operation gains steam when Beyoncé wears a palm-print sweatshirt with the word Nebraska on it, an homage to Raf Simons’s Fall 2002 Virginia Creepers collection, in Nicki Minaj’s video for “Feeling Myself.” That same year, Off-White is named a finalist for the LVMH Prize. He loses the grand prize and special prize to Marques’Almeida and Jacquemus, respectively.
i’m 2016 Abloh opens his first concept store in the Aoyama area of Tokyo. The store features a watercooler with Off-White branded cups that visitors take for free and resell on the secondary market.
Abloh debuts his Grey Area furniture collection in Milan, his first furniture venture under the Off-White brand. It features iron grid chairs, benches, and tables with leather cushions and Carrara marble tops.
In 2017, Even with the announcement of a collaborative exhibition with Takashi Murakami opening at Gagosian; the release of his first song; the opening of his New York store; the British Fashion Award for Urban Luxe Brand; and collaborations with Warby Parker, Jacob the Jeweler, and Jimmy Choo, the biggest news for Abloh in 2017 is The Ten, his sneaker partnership with Nike. Abloh re-creates 10 of Nike’s iconic silhouettes in a work-in-progress style, each adorned with a safety tag around the laces. The limited release leaves the sneaker market hungry for more, and Abloh hosts panels and workshops with Nike and additional releases throughout the year.
17 Year Old Virgil Is Very Proud:
2018 Virgil Abloh is named the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections, stepping into the role vacated by his friend and mentor Kim Jones. “It is an honor for me to accept this position. I find the heritage and creative integrity of the house are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times,” he says in a statement.
2019. Virgil Alboh’s artworks will be the subject of an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and his Ikea collaboration will be released through the brand’s international stores.
Virgil Abloh. A Hero. A Black Superhero. Who Left An Impact In Everyone’s Life, This Is Not The End His Spirit And Kindness Will Roam This Earth Forever. Thank You For Beating The Odds And Making It Possible For Kids Everywhere. We Love You. You Can Now Rest. (9-30-1980)- (11- 28-2021)

As New Year 1922 Rang In, Cincinnati Enjoyed World Peace And Illegal Booze
As 1921 faded into the New Year of 1922, two momentous historic forces shaped the revelry: the end of the “Great War” (not yet called World War I) and the enforcement of Prohibition.
The effects of the war were still being felt in Cincinnati. Many of our local doughboys were still on duty in Europe, wartime rationing was just starting to ease, and news of peace negotiations dominated the front pages of all the local newspapers.
On New Year’s Eve, however – despite several celebrations adopting a “Peace” theme – Prohibition dominated the discussion. It was still legal, according to federal law, to own and consume alcohol (only the manufacture, transport and sale was outlawed). As a consequence, many imbibers celebrated New Year’s at home, often in their cellars to avoid prying eyes. Those who ventured out to party discovered various options for alcoholic availability, according to the Cincinnati Commercial Tribune [1 January 1922]:
“The celebration last night took three distinct levels of revelry. At the hotels in town the celebration was noisy, but reasonably dry. In the road houses, near the city, whisky was in evidence, but the quieter element intermingled. In the country roadhouses whisky flowed freely and revelry reached its highest pitch.”
At the downtown hotels, particularly the Sinton and the Gibson with 1,000 celebrants apiece, the entrances were guarded by cops and the management placed cards at each table reminding customers that it was illegal to bring booze into the establishment.
“Whisky, beer and wines were in evidence as much last night as at any time since the prohibition amendment was passed. It was carried for the most part, however, by the revelers, as, with announcements from prohibition agents of the fact that they would keep a close watch, all places selling liquor closed up.”

The most exclusive, most lavish and, ultimately, most scandalous party of New Year’s Eve 1921 decorated Price Hill when George Remus, king of the bootleggers, dedicated the new indoor swimming pool at his mansion on West Eighth Street at Hermosa. The 100 guests, individually curated by Mrs. Remus to ingratiate herself with the cream of society, sipped champagne and whiskey while lovely young women dressed entirely in white served gourmet dinners as an orchestra serenaded. Professional divers exhibited their skills in the new pool, then gave way to speechifiers mounting the diving board as if it were a rostrum. The host himself, who had established a reputation as a competitive swimmer in Chicago, announce plans to get in shape for a 100-mile Ohio River swim from Cincinnati to Madison, Indiana.
Rumors of Remus’s extravagance echo through the ages. As party favors, Remus lavished $25,000 worth of diamond earrings on the ladies and diamond stick pins on the gents. If you listen to the legends, each woman took home a diamond necklace, or was it a brand-new Packard? and the men scored luxurious jeweled watches. There are some reports that Remus jumped fully clothed into the new pool, but it seems out of character for that teetotaler. Although he sold it by the case, Remus abstained from alcohol. He never smoked in his life. More credible is the version in which, while his guests imbibed, Remus himself retreated to his library.
Remus told the Cincinnati Enquirer that he would present swimming and diving exhibitions at his pool and planned to eventually turn his estate, including the pool into a public park. It was not to be. A couple of years after the fabled New Year’s Eve party, Remus was convicted of violating the liquor laws and was shuttled off to a federal penitentiary. His wife and her lover ransacked Remus’s multi-million empire, sold everything, hid the proceeds and tossed him $100 for his troubles. Bankrupt on his release from prison, Remus chased down his wife, who had filed for divorce, and shot her in Eden Park. His mansion crumbled before the wrecking ball in 1934 and the swimming pool was bulldozed in 1940 to make way for Delehanty Court, named for Alice Delehanty, a Newport pharmacist who bought the properties while Remus was engulfed in legal troubles.

For good reasons, Cincinnati was glad to see the old year of 1921 slip away. Statistics for that year were fairly grim. For example, in Hamilton County, 106 people died in automobile accidents in 1921, compared to 44 in 2020. The Cincinnati Board of Health celebrated the lowest death rate ever recorded – 14.1 deaths per 1,000 residents – and applauded public health measures adopted in the wake of the 1918 influenza pandemic. Today, we would be appalled at such a high death rate. Even with an aging population, Cincinnati’s death rate in 2020 was almost half that, at around 8 per 1,000 residents.
On the other hand, there were only 733 automobiles stolen from Cincinnati owners in 1921, compared to 1,526 in 2020. So many people got married in 1921 that the Probate Court announced a reduction in cost for marriage licenses, effective in 1922. The Court issued 4,132 one-dollar licenses in 1921, creating a budget surplus. With the new year, licenses would cost only 80 cents.
The Cincinnati Post [31 December 1921] carried a prediction by psychic Hereward Carrington that would prove prophetic a century hence:
“We’re so used to the miracle of the telephone that we rarely stop to think what a wonderful invention it is . . . We know we can talk across hundreds of miles of space instantaneously by means of the telephone and carry on a conversation with those at a distance. Now how much more wonderful would it be to do the same thing without any wire at all! . . . It is only a matter of time before wireless telephones will be so perfect and so plentiful that we shall be able to talk to anyone on our earth by means of them.”
All of that has come to pass. We are still waiting upon the prediction outlined by Mr. Carrington in the very next sentence:
“And – who knows? – we may be able to talk to beings on another planet as well.”

We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
At the Medio School for Girls, distinguished young women are trained for one of two roles in their polarized society. Depending on her specialization, a graduate will one day run a husband’s household or raise his children, but both are promised a life of comfort and luxury, far from the frequent political uprisings of the lower class. Daniela Vargas is the school’s top student, but her bright future depends upon no one discovering her darkest secret—that her pedigree is a lie. Her parents sacrificed everything to obtain forged identification papers so Dani could rise above her station. Now that her marriage to an important politico’s son is fast approaching, she must keep the truth hidden or be sent back to the fringes of society, where famine and poverty rule supreme. On her graduation night, Dani seems to be in the clear, despite the surprises that unfold. But nothing prepares her for all the difficult choices she must make, especially when she is asked to spy for a resistance group desperately fighting to bring equality to Medio. Will Dani cling to the privilege her parents fought to win for her, or to give up everything she’s strived for in pursuit of a free Medio—and a chance at a forbidden love?
Untamed Shore by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Renowned author Silvia Moreno-Garcia's first thriller, UNTAMED SHORE, is a coming-of-age story set in Mexico which quickly turns dark when a young woman meets three enigmatic tourists. Baja California, 1979. Viridiana spends her days watching the dead sharks piled beside the seashore, as the fishermen pull their nets. There is nothing else to do, nothing else to watch, under the harsh sun. She’s bored. Terribly bored. Yet her head is filled with dreams of Hollywood films, of romance, of a future beyond the drab town where her only option is to marry and have children. Three wealthy American tourists arrive for the summer, and Viridiana is magnetized. She immediately becomes entwined in the glamorous foreigners’ lives. They offer excitement, and perhaps an escape from the promise of a humdrum future. When one of them dies, Viridiana lies to protect her friends. Soon enough, someone’s asking questions, and Viridiana has some of her own about the identity of her new acquaintances. Sharks may be dangerous, but there are worse predators nearby, ready to devour a naïve young woman who is quickly being tangled in a web of deceit. Silvia Moreno-Garcia is one of the most exciting voices in fiction, and with her first crime novel, UNTAMED SHORE, she crafts a blazing novel of suspense with an eerie seaside setting and a literary edge that proves her a master of the genre.
The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa
A wedding planner left at the altar. Yeah, the irony isn’t lost on Carolina Santos, either. But despite that embarrassing blip from her past, Lina’s managed to make other people’s dreams come true as a top-tier wedding coordinator in DC. After impressing an influential guest, she’s offered an opportunity that could change her life. There’s just one hitch… she has to collaborate with the best (make that worst) man from her own failed nuptials. Tired of living in his older brother’s shadow, marketing expert Max Hartley is determined to make his mark with a coveted hotel client looking to expand its brand. Then he learns he’ll be working with his brother’s whip-smart, stunning—absolutely off-limits—ex-fiancée. And she loathes him. If they can survive the next few weeks and nail their presentation without killing each other, they’ll both come out ahead. Except Max has been public enemy number one ever since he encouraged his brother to jilt the bride, and Lina’s ready to dish out a little payback of her own. But even the best laid plans can go awry, and soon Lina and Max discover animosity may not be the only emotion creating sparks between them. Still, this star-crossed couple can never be more than temporary playmates because Lina isn’t interested in falling in love and Max refuses to play runner-up to his brother ever again...
The Lost Book of Adana Moreau by Michael Zapata
The mesmerizing story of a Latin American science fiction writer and the lives her lost manuscript unites decades later in post-Katrina New Orleans In 1929 in New Orleans, a Dominican immigrant named Adana Moreau writes a science fiction novel. The novel earns rave reviews, and Adana begins a sequel. Then she falls gravely ill. Just before she dies, she destroys the only copy of the manuscript. Decades later in Chicago, Saul Drower is cleaning out his dead grandfather’s home when he discovers a mysterious manuscript written by none other than Adana Moreau. With the help of his friend Javier, Saul tracks down an address for Adana’s son in New Orleans, but as Hurricane Katrina strikes they must head to the storm-ravaged city for answers.
