Sleepy Showder from Lush
The Sleepy Showder is one of several products released by Lush in a collaboration with Lazy Oaf. I’m ashamed to say that before this collaboration I’d never actually heard of Lazy Oaf. Each product within this line ties in with something that you’d find in a launderette. The entire line is inspired by Lazy Oaf’s up-front acknowledgement that life comes with both good days and bad days. Lush Website Page Layouts
As an additional asset to my product range, I want to show them off on Lush’s website. I looked at Lush x Lazy Oaf’s collaboration page to see what they tend to show.
Key areas -
Introductory section - Imagery showing the product range, type ‘Lush x Lazy Oaf’ designed on the images and also in the top left corner in Lush’s typical style
‘Introducing the range’ - Large type of what the aim of the range is with a short paragraph about the collaboration and products within the range.
Display of the products and specific details about them
Lush - Eid Gifts
Not necessarily a collaboration page, but Lush’s EID gift page shows off products within the range. I also wanted to look at these as it shows more of Lush’s typical work than the Lazy Oaf page.
Key areas -
Image showing off feature products within the range in a scene
short paragraph about the products
products within the range showed - specific individual products are shown as the actual lotion/scrub/shower gel not the packaging

January Cleaning
With a New Year ahead I’ve been having a little de-clutter session. January is always the perfect time to have a little check through my kit, make sure that everything is in working order and get rid of things that just aren’t worth keeping.
[Above Image Lazy Oaf x The Ragged Priest Look Book Shoot ]
The first thing I tend to do is check the storage is all in good condition (no rips or detrimental damage to zips or fastenings). If things are ripped or tatty I will throw them away and replace them .
For many items I use Muji’s PP collection which is fantastic as it’s really affordable (between £1-£7) , the items are stackable and best of all they’re really easy to wash and keep clean. Mujji in general is fantastic for storage solutions. If you haven’t gone into one of their shops - make it happen this year - it’s storage solution heaven. Poundland also has some fantastic acrylic makeup storage for those with considerably less makeup to organize!
For on the go jobs I use clear plastic bags Marks & Spencers for almost everything. When I bought mine the bags were black and clear :
However I think now they have a rose gold set, but under £7 so great value for money and a great way to keep things organised (also easy to wipe clean) :
If I want to really TREAT my kit I love Jelly Cat bags!
https://www.catseyelondon.com
At the moment I only have the Tabby Cat Large Cosmetic Bag but I’d love to get a few more. I don’t think there is anything wrong with sharing a little bit of your personality! Also these bags are bomb proof - I’ve had mine for years and its still in great working condition :
What to throw away?
Mascara thats over 3 months old (the one thing that goes off so much more quickly than other items)
Eye or Lip Pencils that are shorter than your thumb! Life is too short to try and apply an eyeliner that’s got less than 30% of its crayon left !
Foundations that may have separated or are over 2 years old
Powder Eyeshadows or Powder compacts that have broken and are leaving behind a trace of mess wherever they go (LIFE IS TO SHORT!)
Anything that smells “off”
Lip glosses that have separated
Brushes which are on their last leg
What To Keep
Powders that end up with caked product from face oil can easily be renewed by using a little piece of sellotape - just press the tape over the powder to lift off any residue and it will be good as new !
If you’re favorite lipstick is almost all gone - you can usually find about 20% more of it within the well of the lipstick. Just use a little spatula and place it into a little container.
The Business Of Cleaning
To clean containers, pencils and product packaging, I add a little bit of rubbing alcohol, Detol or sanitising spray to a cotton pad or makeup wipe making sure there aren’t splodges or pencil markings.
Next I’ll sharpen all the pencils and clean with rubbing alcohol.
Coconut oil works a treat on those matte black cushiony style lids like Nars Cosmetics products come in as well.
Where possible I will always recycle items. I’m encouraged by brands like Lush who do put recycling systems in place! Nothing annoys me more than wasteful packaging and greenwashing cosmetics brands that claim to be so ethical but have very little concern for what happens to their packaging

Lush - Visual Analysis
Lush is also known for doing a range of collaborations and this is actually a big part of their branding and products. Their style tends to be quite vibrant and colourful which works well in collaboration with WWF. I want to look into their packaging and actual products to see what directions I could take.
Lush tend to stay away from packaging and have a range of products that are in bar forms when they can. As my products will have packaging to show off my designs, I will be focusing on products such as body butters, shower gel etc.
Lush x Lazy Oaf
Lazy Oaf is a fashion company that creates streetwear clothing for men and women inspired by nostalgia and teenage rebellion
Small, independent and female led - based in London. Big focus on the ethics of their brand - people, products and planet focus which works well with Lush's brand values
skincare, bath bombs, clothing and candles - large range of products benefiting both brands and adding their own unique elements
bold and bright colours used in all of their products which works really well and is eye catching - nostalgic vibe from Lazy Oaf can clearly be seen
Fabric and packaging of their products is where you can clearly see the design elements of the collaboration - not typical lush style
Lush - Gift Wraps
Gift wrapping with reusable fabric wraps made from organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles
reduce waste - instead of paper or plastic packaging using a reusable fabric
Candy Sky
lunar inspired designs by Indonesian artist Ayang Cempaka
colourful and whimsimcal illustrations
Baaa-ch
designs by Lois Hemmings - celebrating Welsh heritage
Bach means little/dear in Welsh
colourful and playful illustrations
Ippuku Ryo - Bath Bomb set
inspired by the Japanese word Ippuku meaning the act of taking a brief break throughout the day
created by the Lush team in Japan
range of scents included for a calming effect
packaging is on brand with Lush - vibrant and quite beautiful but you can see more of a Japanese influence with the simplicity
I really like this packaging, I think everything works really nicely and isn't too overwhelming
Crescent Moon
celebrating and honouring Eid
packaging designed by Ayang Cempaka - an indonesian artist
beautiful packaging design and use of typography that links to Eid but can be appreciated by people that aren't Muslim
colour palette works really well with the pinks and greens complimenting each other and elements of gold stand out
Takeaways
definitely lots of room for my own style to come into play when designing the packaging and products
lush packaging doesn't necessarily have to be their typical style which is good as there is more room for WWF branding elements to be used
illustrated elements are prioritised and used nicely
range of potential products and outcomes to be achieved
