Hi hi, Revchi anon here again! I've been playing the mobile game for a while now and I noticed something intriguing. In the 'bond' and 'outfit' screens, characters usually look and behave like their regular selves, right? Asta is cheery, Noelle is a bit haughty-looking, Yuno and Nozel are serious, Neige is timid, Rades is erratic, etc etc. So you'd expect Revchi to look smug and condescending as his default setting, right? But nope. He looks SAD. Unlike other antagonists, he only starts acting like a Giggling Bad Guy when given a gift or tapped

So basically he becomes a villain only if he's "pushed around" or "bugged" in a sense. That's interesting. But it would fit with the idea of him just being driven to the point of mental breakdown and villainhood.

So Revchi is a Poor Little Meow Meow /lh

In a way it's unfortunate that we didn't get to know more about his backstory and are left guessing, but that's pretty usual BC, which... is understandable because there is a wide cast. Imo Revchi could very well have gone into Tabs' "redeemable villain" squad, and he could have brought Revchi back for later arcs as he does with many villains. I mean... in the grand scheme of characters that he has redeemed, Revchi wouldn't even have been the most difficult one to redeem.

Not wanting to do so with Gueldre I get, because he chose to do as he did out of greed, and it doesn't strike as a particularly juicy story, but someone who is framed by his own squad? That would be interesting. And it could have been tied back to Zara's death and to Zora's story.

Of course Revchi isn't the only one, since basically Tabs ""redeemed"" the Dark Disciples by killing them. And then there are a bunch of now-paladinified villains/former knights, who's redemption arc is in being puppets for Lucius. (If one can call it as a redemption arc). Not that I think that every single character should necessarily be redeemed, but considering how Revchi is the very reason why Asta was at that point of the Tower, and got his grimoire in the first place, I think that Revchi is a bit too important of a minor character to just brush off. It'll be interesting if the story unfolds a little bit later on, because it can't be all a mere collection of consequences. The grimoire winding up from where Lichita died to the inside wall of the Grimoire Tower where Lichita's son would be in (I assume) 7-8 years later. And when being in the tower itself wasn't close enough, but rather Asta had to be on the inner courtyard of it, in a battle. (Some of this could be; specifically the battle, just a manga hype, because the MC should get his grimoire in a cool fashion ofc.) It just seems like Revchi, too, was just a pawn in a game where even king is not a knight (irl chess tournament reference).

But that didn't matter to her ( for that moment at the very least) because when she looked over at her Mother she was smiling, a look of pure pride on her face. As if she any worry she mare have had was wiped way.

Vanica P. Zogratis age 6: it had been a year since she developed her magic. And it was hell. Everyday in and out. Mother had told her she was special she was different from Dante and Lucius-nee, she told her she would make her into a proud warrior worthy of her name. It sounded good... Mother never prezed her or her brothers for anything-

A hard hit on her stomach she didnt even have time to process what had happened. One moment she was up on her feet (it felt like she was walking on nails) and the next she was coughing up saliva on the floor as hot tears rolled down her eyes and shot ran to her lips

"Come on now Vanica, Stand up"

She coughed and cried harder "M-Mom please,-" a loud 'Tch' escaped her Mother lips "A Sparda dose not beg"

Vanica P. Zogratis age 15: She had just gotten her Grimwore... It felt weird holding it her hands, but something about it made her feel nice.... Made her feel safe

However, that feeling was short-lived as she felt the way everyone else looked at her and whispered filled the room. She pulled her Grimwor close to her chest. Should I just kill everyone in here? She wondered to herself, she can. She was the second strongest person in here and god knows she wouldn't care and she was certain Mother wouldn't either.

"Vanica, come we have what we wanted. Now let us go." Her Mother ordered and without missing a beat Vanica quickly turned her heels and walked towards her. Mother percents demanded respect, she always cared herself with such pride she was unfazed by most things and never really raised her voice. Not even in all her arguments with Dante where he would shout his lungs out and she just looked... Annoyed? Sad? Like she was disappointed at him.

They walked back home in silence Vanica looking down at the Grimwor at her hands, though the silence didnt last long. To her right she heard the cry of a child and turnd to look, a kid with a bleeding knee siting on the ground crying its eyes out as its Mother ran over to them pulling them in their arms. When she would bleed her Mother would tell her to keep moving, to stand up and continue...

She didnt know how to feel.

Pain... It was a familiar feeling, one she knew too well. But this- this was different white-hot agony ran through her body blood was runing down her nose, her forehead and a bit on her mouth.

When they had gotten home Mother had ordered her to go against her in Kombat to see what Vanica can do with a Grimwore. Vanica likes to fight. She really does!! The adrenaline that gose through her when she fight Anemona is godly. But this, no, no, no fighting against Mother was just torture.

"Is that all?" Morther's voice rang through her ears, gods Vanica knew that tone too well for her liking. Mother was dissatisfied with her "If that is truly all you can do... Then I wasted my time with you" Vanica moved her eyes up from the floor, looking up at her Mother.

Disappointment.

That was the only thing on her face and Vanica's Heart was caught up in a knots She is not weak no,no,no she is not like Dante not like Lucius not like Zenon. She barely managed to stand up, something was boiling in her Chest. Maybe in some other life this was her breaking point, the moment where she became a beast and tore her own Mother to shreds. But Vanica knows better, Mother had made sure of that.

Vanica P.... Zogratis? Age 15 and a half: Father and Mother are getting divorced. The house was quiet, she had heard stories about what went on in the houses of people going through a divorce. It wasnt very pleasant. But things in Vanica's house were calm, no shouting, no fighting Father had a look on his face... Like he saw this coming as if it was long overdued. Lucius looked mad but she couldnt care to figure out at what. Dante was in the military so she didnt get to see him. Then theres little Zenon the baby of the family he hadnt the smallest idea of has going on, but a part of Vanica told her he didnt really care.

When everything was set and done Mother and her would be leaving to go to her Grandmothers home, were Vanica whould take on a new last name: Sparda... She liked Zogratis better.

Vanica P. Sparda age 17:

She had watched. Both she, Melina and Katana had watched as their mothers ripped each other apart like- like some wild animals. All for the title of Grandmaster of the Sparda, the honor to serve directly under Grandmother, to be her right hand in her work to serve the god that had made them. Vanica had looked over to her cousins they were both scared, worried about their Mother's life, they were holding hands through it all. Then she looked up, to her Grandmother ever since she had first arrived at this madhouse her face was constantly covered by a thick black veil but her body league was calme and steady. Despite the shouting and the howle of agony that had escaped her Mothers lips Vanica couldn't tell if her Grandmother just did not care or if she had seen this happen so many times before she simply stopped having a response. But when it was all said and done Vanicas Mother had won. Having lossed an eye in exchange for the title of Grandmaster, Melina and Katana were relieved, happy that there Mother was not dead but they dear not show it. Vanica... She wasnt sure she could say the same.

Honestly? I don’t remember Morris all that well, so I’m not too concerned about him as I probably should be. I know he was present during the previous arc fiddling with the demon gates and Tree of Qliphoth or whatever, and stuff regarding Lucifero obviously, but that’s all. This is the downside of me reading all the chapters way too quick while the manga was on hiatus months ago, but I can guess his return isn’t good news of course.

Not only him, but the Dark Triad seems to be making a comeback as well, which scares me because we had so much trouble defeating these three the first time. Who knows how powerful they’ll be now once Lucius is finished healing them. Still worried about whomever else Lucius decides to bring back from the dead too.

If anything, at least it seems they’re taking their sweet time recovering? while Lucius heals up Morris rather quickly in comparison. I also have no recollection that this man was previously blind. How the hell did ya become a scholar that way sir?

Lucius doesn’t hesitate to take control over him either. Really hope he doesn’t do the same with the triad once they’re awake. Not because I want them to be overly powerful, but because I want them to at least retain their chaotic personalities seeing how Morris just became so obedient here.

By the name drop, I assume we can rule this dude out of being Rades or Revchi right? Especially since this guy uses beast magic, which neither of them had.

Sure, Vetto had beast magic, but it certainly didn’t summon up dragons like this! The exact five-headed dragon from that legend we vaguely heard about a couple chapters ago that basically destroyed the land. Kinda ironic how the story says it “was quelled here by a heavenly maiden” and now it’s gonna run rampant because of one.

At least we got five of the seven ryuzen to deal with them? Dunno how well this fight will go but they’re our best shot at success I bet. Also a new look at the lady next to Ichika. She looks so worried. I hope she does okay.

Then somewhere else we get Asta continuing his training with the remaining two members, who are also new to us. One of which is apparently the strongest of the bunch, and considering how hard it was for Asta to fight against Ichika, I don’t doubt this dude is putting our young man through quite a difficult time.

And totally not important, but what’s up with the silly little shirt that only covers your shoulders? Asta had it, even Vetto had something similar, and now this guy. Can’t say I’m a fan of it. but thankful it shows off this man’s nice body.

Her magic is limitless and all we get is Glamour World, which isn't bad, but is lowkey disappointing.

Say your response to Acacia, but I didn't want to derail your post so I'm putting it here insterad; I have been convinced for a while now that Lucius isn't the final big bad of the story. It just doesn't make any sense if he is.

One, he's already been beaten. Yuno beat him. Magna and Luck beat him. Asta's almost definitely going to beat him. He's said that his clones are at the same level as him, so all they need to do is to get to the real body and it's game over for him.

Two, it doesn't fit with the pattern. Pretty much every. Single. Arc has gone "This is the big bad, wait, no, there's something else behind them!" we go into the elf reincarnation arc thinking that the big bad is Patri/Licht, turns out it's Zagred. We go into Spade thinking it's the Dark Triad, turns out it's Lucifero. Even the smaller arcs at the beginning of the series does this. We think they're going to Sosshi village to hunt boar and they have to deal with Heath Grice. We think they're going to the dungeon to find treasure and they have to deal with Lotus and Mars. We think they're going to Magic Knights HQ to report, then they have to deal with Rades and Valtos, and then Sally turns up. Nean is the worst offender with this. We think they're fighting Negie and Baro to rescue the kids (well, no, we initially thibk that they're just on vacation), then Sally turns up, then Patri/Licht and Valtos turn up, then the Third Eye turn up. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Every time we think they've met the big bad there's someone else.

So, yeah, I think we're only just entering the actual final arc too. And I want to know what the fuck is hiding behind (and likely manipulating) Lucius.

I mean, I agree with you. I do. Which is why I was surprised and gutted to "learn" about the 3-chapters-left-only rumour, because it didn't make sense. (But I reasoned it to myself to be true, because it came to me from many sources and supposed that someone had just pulled the plug on BC)

I also want to know about the sun/dark sun symbol on Lucius' forehead, because it's a different one from the Star (or ammonia) sign that Julius had prior to and during the Elf Arc (which makes it funny that he devised the Star Festival and system to reward the knights). And we saw that Star crumble when Julius was dying, and had to essentially be "reborn". Only to have the Sun-ish, symbol on him in the flashbacks. (Also Loid, with the Sun Affinity, being dead/missing, while the Moon affinity holder being alive, left me wondering. Ofc it could be just a coincidence; or my memory playing tricks on me)

I'm still convinced that the star (or ammonia) symbol on Julius was some kind of a magic seal that kept some things at bay, but whether it's memories or Lucius or something else, is up for debate.

Also, your thoughts are making me think that whatever the fuck it is that's manipulating Lucius, is something we haven't seen yet. Because none of these Big Bads, had really been introduced yet. Not really anyways. Which would be... interesting, because we have... witches, elves, angels, demons and devils, all the citizens of the 4 suits, so... Unless Loid wants to Make Spade Great Again and has a side hustle of hypnotism, I don't think it's any of the humans either

Well, not much to comment on for me personally since the kids are just fighting it out for the majority of the chapter, so it’s gonna be a short one. I’m sure this will all look lovely whenever this arc ends up getting animated of course.

Props to Asta for lasting longer in this fight though than he did previously as well, so the training is proven to be somewhat effective so far. But relax Ichika, our boy certainly has the determination amongst many other things! Get to know him more and you’ll see he’s definitely gonna make his dream happen.

Tell us what you know Asta! If there’s more than anger, then what could it be? Perhaps she’s feeling a bit sentimental after tell the story about Yami? Or maybe fear that Asta is stronger than she originally anticipated? Dunno.

Look at this dude coming right in and stopping this fight effortlessly. I know he’s the equivalent of a wizard king in this country but still, for someone with no yoryoku, he’s quite impressive. It’s also kinda humorous how quickly Ichika yields and apologizes. She respects Ryu so much, it’s sweet.

Hey it’s a whole other kind of strength to admit defeat, so good for him. I’m still proud of all the progress Asta’s been making in such a short amount of time. Unfortunately, time is not on our side and maybe that’s why Ryu came rushing in to stop their little brawl and turn their focus onto the incoming threat..

I’m certainly not thrilled to see Lily so soon. How close is it to judgement day now? No way it’s already been seven days.. has it? Oh dear. And she’s brought along some company as well, two of which whom I wouldn’t have ever recognized had I not heard everyone else’s thoughts about them already. To be fair, in Heath’s case, we haven’t seen him since the very beginning during Asta’s first mission. Not to mention the fact that he’s supposed to be dead, like hello?? Sir, how and why are you here? Now with the other guy, I’ve seen people think he’s either Revchi or Rades? Kinda hard to tell honestly. The face does look like the former without the scar (unless it healed) but the hair is kinda like the latter, so I dunno which man it could be.

If Revchi, then good on Tabata for bringing back real old characters again. If Rades, well, that explains how we got Heath back due to his kind of magic I guess. Then again, doesn’t Lucius have access to time magic? I wouldn’t be surprised if he could bring people back from the dead. Whatever method was used to bring Heath back however has me so worried though. If they could somehow revive the entire Yami clan, who were all trained assassins, then that could be a major issue. Or just imagine if we get to see people such as Lumiere, Morgen or Licita again.. ohh, I swear if we switch back to the Clover kingdom and see Noelle & Nozel encounter Acier I will have a heart attack.

Firstly: You're not a bother. And secondly if I say that friendly discussion is welcomed, and you're free to disagree with me, I mean it. This is both and I'm welcoming it, because it'd be a dull life to not have one's opinions or views disagreed ever.

And when it comes to Lucius not being worried about our heroes, I agree with him being able to just smirk back as he watches them squirm. Which is very much a Big Bad thing to do, and he has no reason to be worried. I also remember the scene, which is why I was very reluctant to think that we'll get a real ending, unless it's some grand Kamikaze type of an ending. Because Lucius isn't where the MCs are. I was thinking that the characters that aren't on screen are locating Lucius and going there behind Lucius' back when his attention is on the Royal Capitol. Y'know, like a backstab?

I... was thinking that the 3 months he took to plan the final arc kinda promised for something big. Something great. Which is why I held onto a lot of hope for this autumn, because a planning break that lasted for so long implies that someone has more than one ace up his sleeve, which is why this autumn especially feels very lacklustre to me. And it doesn't help that the last time I felt surprised by BC was, well, actually, suppose Asta winding up to Hino was a tad bit surprising, but the JuLu reveal was the Big Surprise. But ever since then, the plot seems to have been dragging along after all the fights, and I do appreciate a good fight in the series, but I want a story as well.

But as you said, it's Tabata's story. He's sharing it with the world, and it's his to do whatever he wants with it.

When it comes to scenes Tabs feels that he needs to draw, I want to believe that he really will tie all the loose ends together. Lichita being on the new coloured spread made me hope for her to be present and important in the upcoming chapters. Tabs, actually, has a lot of potential with bringing back a lot of the dead parents. Zara could be there against Zora. Lichita? Lucius could use her as an... undead human shield. Acier is already causing a lot of emotional suffering to the Silvas.

This is basically Rades' spell, but on a different level.

He could have had the Bulls regroup a bit better before just barging in. He could have had more "let's collect our thoughts", which we got in Spade arc. The tempo of that was much slower. So, I feel like these chapters just want to be done with. The writer problem of "I just need to get through this scene so that I can move on".

I want to be wrong. I've wanted to be wrong with waiting for the story to pick up from the beginning of the Spade Arc. Because even that felt a bit rushed. And if Tabs did what he did with the Elf Arc, he'd tie up the events of Spade (the ground work for which is laid) with the events of the Final arc. Especially since Adra was also in that coloured spread.

Also, the very beginning of BC feels too convenient. Asta to just happen to be at a location where his grimoire is. The grimoire to have wound up there. Lucius to have accepted Asta being there from the very beginning, because if a man who can see into the future finds one things/person standing right before him that has not existed in any other scenario, then why wouldn't he just do away with it? Sure, in the beginning it might not seem like much of a threat, but not when that one person starts winning a lot of the fights. Like... when things have gone as far as the Final Arc, Lucius shouldn't be that surprised.

There is so much story, so much lore, and so many plot twists that I feel haven't been addressed in the past year, that I'm losing hope for BC to be bouncing back.

The one thing that gives me hope is that I was very disinterested in the Royal Knight's arc. I basically skipped 50% of the episodes because it was just "blah blah" to me, so maybe this is just that. I'd need to sit out for these fights to just end, until we'd get to the actual interesting part.

I'm just frustrated with the lack of a story this year

About chapter 369:

Remember that these are my own, personal opinions, and you don't need to agree with them (however, friendly discussion is welcomed as always). And my opinions are affected by the rumour I heard about there being only 3 chapters of BC left, including 369. Meaning that we'd get the finish, maybe, Christmas 2024.

The chapter was very MagLuck centric, which is amazing to those who love the dynamic duo, and I'm happy for them, but... I felt that essentially... nothing happened? I mean, Asta comes back, with Ichika, and we have the very brief "omg Captain Yami's lil' sister is here?! wait?! He has a sister??!!", but it was very brief. And, I get that due to the tempo of the point where the story is, them being in the battle where we've been for the past... 30+ chapters (granted that Asta was in yet another battle within those 30 chapters, but it's been basically just one battle after another ever since the start of the Spade arc); battles make the tempo quick. That's how most prose works. You can't focus on many events in the heat of the battle, but BC... in my opinion, has become about nothing else than fighting. It's like Luck took over Tabs and it's just fight fight fight. The movie was just one 1h+ long fight scene with minimal story, and so is the manga as it stands now.

And... if Tabs is supposed to wrap it up in 60 or so pages, I cannot see how he could realistically do that unless it ends in the "you all die" ending. Which would be very un-BC like.

Could Lucius die of a heart attack? It's possible. The big bad's heart can't take the toll of all the mana he's consuming suddenly and it gives out and he flops down. Asta and Yuno wouldn't get their rivalry settled and life in Clover would go back to business as usual. (I'm not seriously suggesting this of course, I'm trying to be funny)

I hear that this is very Berserk type of a situation to be in. You got one chapter every 6 months and nothing essentially happens, because the plot is progressing so slowly. But as of now, I feel like BC is a falling house of cards. A lot happens, without proper development, and it's buried under flashy fights, maybe, meant to distract the reader.

The next chapter will (if we believe the battle order in the end of chapter 368) have the Mereo&Morris battle, and the last issue will deal with Yuno&Asta vs. Lucius. But it all feels too hasted.

There absolutely are good things about BC, which is why I'm saddened to feel that it's going out in flames. I just don't find things to expect anymore.

I am happy to those who feel hyped for the MagLuck moment, and them having their Great Duo Fight against the big bad, and my criticism isn't just about this chapter. It's about the last 100 chapters. The movie. The lack of lore, world-building, character-building, the lack... of a story.

And I blame the manga industry pushing Tabs to burnout, which is why we're here.

I feel bad for Tabs. I feel bad for the story. It could've been a cool story.
