A really great article about what the crew of the Just-a-Snappin' went through on the Bremen raid on October 8, 1943.

Article found through this page on the 100th Bomb Group site
Article named: Uncommon valor
Subheading: Everett Blakely personified grace under pressure
By Dan Krieger Telegram-Tribune
Photos of the Just-a-Snappin' crashed into a tree, and one of Blakely smiling in uniform. The latter with the message "Everett 'Gopher' Blakely, right, lost his plne, 'Just-a-Snappin.' but saved his crew when he crash landed the B-17 bomber.
Pull quote in the article: 'For 3,000 feet Captain Blakely and Major Kidd fought to get that plane under control. It was only because of the superior construction of our bomber... plus the combination of two skilled pilots, that we ever even recovered from that dive. -Lt. Harry Crosby
Main article: Lt. Harry Crosby wrote to his wife, "Jean there are just two reasons why I am here today. One of them is because of Blake's superb piloting and the other is because of the skill of our gunners."
We often think of heroes as flamboyant people. More often than not, real heroes are quiet people who are doing what they believe is required of them.
Today Everett Blakely, a pilot trained in Santa Maria, says that he was "just doing what had to be done" in the war against Hitler. He was a quiet hero.
Allan G. Hancock College in Santa Maria has a long and colorful history. Long before it became a community college, the campus was known as the Hancock College of Aeronautics.
It was a private school, named after its energetic, versatile and creative founder and benefactor, Capt. Allan Hancock.
Well prior to American entry into the Second World War, Captain Hancock offered his school to the United States Army Air Corps as a flight instruction school. Between May 1939 and V-J Day, some 8,500 pilots and 1,500 aircraft mechanics were trained at Hancock College.
The commercial warehouse district just west of today's Hancock College campus includes the one-time hangers for the flight instruction aircraft. The Stearman PT-13 biplanes are gone, but the College of Aeronautics administration buildings still survive on campus.
Everett "Gopher" Blakely came to Santa Maria just out of the University of Washington at Seattle. He was convinced that America was going to get involved in the European war.
The Blitzkrieg over Poland in 1939, over Belgium and France in 1940, and the Battle of Britain had convinced Blakely that this was going to be a war where air power was essential. The United States was going to need pilots. "Gopher" Blakely had discovered his mission.
Blakely soon started flying the essentially First World War era Stearmans over the tranquil valleys of the Central Coast. He and his buddies from rainy Puget Sound loved the warm sunny climate. They thought Santa Maria was a friendly town and enjoyed a precious few weekend hours socializing at the Santa Maria Inn.
Within months, Blakely and his friends were on the damp fen lands of Norfolkshire in England's East Anglia. They had graduated from the tiny Stearmans to the "Queen of the Bombers," the four-engine, hundred-foot-winged Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress."
On July 4, 1943, the first American pilots participated with Britain's Royal Air Force in bombing raids over Germany. But as late as January 1943, Winston Churchill, en route to meet with President Roosevelt at Casablanca, wrote a secret memo to his Secretary of State for Air.
In that memo, Churchill complained that "the Americans have not yet succeeded in dropping a single bomb on Germany." What Churchill meant was that no American bombers were able to penetrate German anti-aircraft fire a sufficient distance. This was because the Americans were trained for daylight missions only. The British had bomber Berlin early in the war by flying mainly night missions,
Churchill wanted the Americans to start flying night missions also. But Gen. Henry H. "Hap" Arnold was convinced that it would take too long to retrain air crews for night flying. That loss of time would allow the Germans to rebuild their military strength.
At Casablanca, the Americans won Churchill over to a doctrine of round-the-clock bombing which would "give Hitler no rest." The Americans would send increasingly larger waves of B-17s by day. The RAF would continue doing what it did best through nighttime assaults.
The decision at Casablanca was costly in terms of the lives of American aircrews. Daytime raids were decidedly more risky. Few of us realize that the losses to the Eight Air Force alone approach American losses in the Vietnam War.
Capt. "Gopher" Blakely became the pilot of "Just-a-Snappin," a B-17 in the 100th Bomb Group flying out of Thorpe Abbots in Norfolkshire. Blakelly and his crew were piloting their B-17s over the upper reaches of the Danube in the famous raids on Schweinfurt and Rogensburg.
On Oct. 8, 1943, the 10th Bomb Group participated in a raid on the shipbuilding and industrial center of Bremen and the nearby U-Boat building yards and pens at Vegesack.
Both of "Just-a-Snappin's" right wing engines were shot out in a running battle with German fighters over the Zuider Zee. Five of the crew were injured - Waist Giner Sgt. Lester Saunders fatally.
Lt. Harry Crosby, "Just-a-Snappin's" navigator, filed an astonishing report on the B-17's struggle to return to England:
"For 3,000 feet Captain Blakely and Major Kidd fought to get that plane under control. It was only because of the superior construction of our bomber, and its perfect maintenance, plus the combination of two skilled pilots, that we even recovered from that dive.
"If I were an expert on stress and strain analysis, or a mechanic, or even a pilot, I would dwell at length on the manner in which the plane was restored to normal flying attitude. As it is, the procedure defies my description. But I am certain it was a very great accomplishment."
Everett Blakely's description recalls, "You can lose altitude awfully fast when one engine goes sour and your controls are chewed to ribbons. We dropped for 3,000 feet before Major Kidd and I could regain control... Most of the crew were not strapped to their seats were thrown to the floor, shaken severely - but at last the ground was once more back where it ought to be, instead of standing up on one ear. Once more we were in level flight and, at least temporarily, safe."
Crosby's report states that:
"At 10,000 feet we were able to look out the windows (and) were temporarily assured to not that the ground was now in the right place. A hurried consultation was held over inter-phone to determine a plan for fighting our way back to England.
"The following facts had to be considered: We had lost all communication back of the top turret, so it was impossible to determine the extent of injury and damage. Our control wires were fraying as far back as the top turret operator could see. At least two of the crew had reported being hit immediately after we left the target.
"One engine was in such bad condition that bits and finally all of the cowling were blasted off. We were losing altitude so rapidly probably because of the condition of the elevator that any but the shortest way back was beyond contemplation. So we headed across the face of Germany for home."
Later, Harry Crosby wrote of Blakely and his co-pilot:
"The normal reaction on the part of our pilots should have been to think of their own personal safety, or in cases of extreme nobility of character perhaps they would have been thinking about the other members of the crew. But they did not, even in this crisis, forget for one minute they were the leaders of a great formation. Their first thought was of the crews behind them. In unison, as we fell into our dive, the words came over the interphone to our tail gunner, 'Signal the deputy leader to take over.'
"I can't help but to think as they fought for their lives they might have been excused for being too busy to think of their command, but such was not the case.
"By this signaling, the remainder of the formation was notified immediately that we had been hit and were aborting. This act would have prevented any planes being pulled even a few feet out of position into danger from the enemy aircraft buzzing about."
Despite the loss of the airplane's compass, Blakely and his amazing navigator, Lt. Harry Crosby, made it to landfall. They crash-landed at Ludham, Norfolk. The completely unmaneuverable aircraft, without any brakes, skidded into an ancient British oak tree.
Blakely remembers: "The tree crashed between Np. 2 engine and the pilot's compartment. That was lucky because another three inches to the right and it would have crushed the pilot and co-pilot. We had slowed to maybe 50 mph by then..."
Blakely's co-pilot for that mission, Major John B. Kidd, recalled that "someone counted over 800 separate holes in that aircraft."
"Just-a-Snappin" would never fly again.
The Bremen mission was typical of dozens of missions which penetrated deeper and deeper into German territory. Even before the Bremen raid, Blakely and his crew were piloting their B-17's over teh upper reaches of the Danube in the famous raids on Schweinfurt and Regensburg.
Today, Blakely is retired and lives with his wife, Marge, in San Luis Obispo. They are the parents of Supervisor David Blakely, who speaks with great pride of his father's contribution to the fight against Hitler.

just another day...
it may be a brand new year....but it's still just another day. nothing much changes, unless you made some catastrophic resolutions. i heard @theoldsmelly was going to cut down on cake, but considering how hard he's always working....he needs that tasty treat to keep going through the monotony of whatever weird thing he's doing any given week...
i never really make resolutions for new year's day, because it's arbitrary and you guessed it....just another day. i always say i'm gonna eat more vegetables, sometimes i do...but this year i really mostly just hoped for a year without any major crisis or whatnot...but of course something popped up the day after christmas...because life is just....
i did get my passport renewal off, bc i am determined we are taking a real vacation this year...even though vacation days are...you saw this coming...just another day...i want to at least have room service and see whatever beach my bf will inevitably choose as this year's choice. he deserves a change to the same ol just another day after having to do housework to my standards for 3 months....he thought he wouldn't make it another day, some days...and once had to go to bed at 7pm and bid me a....
today may be just another day, but spend it with us, and hear some choice tunes because....these are the days of our lives....

Hello! I love your writing :) Would you be open to doing a continuation of the "taking care of you when you're sick" one with Himeko, Pela and Sushang? (And anyone else if you want) Thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day!
aaa thank you so much! and of course! i hope you have a nice day, too! <3
⸻ "hey... you okay?" part two
↳ pairing: himeko, pela, sushang x gn!reader
↳ content: gn!reader. fluff. dear as a pet name (himeko). vague references to illness. mentions of headaches (shushang). might be slightly ooc in shushang's part.
⸻ 𝗛𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗞𝗢
despite how it may seem on the surface, himeko notices a lot — about the others aboard the express; about their preferences and likes; about their personalities and how they act when they're at their best. she can tell when dan heng needs to be left alone; when march is thinking too deeply about what her past may be; when welt is stressed. and about you, too.
so when you enter the main compartment of the express slower and groggier than normal, she notices right away; and you cough and sniffle, she realizes immediately that you're sick.
the first thing she does is usher you to a bench seat to lie down — no matter if you just got up, she tells you that you need to rest and that she's more than happy to take care of you.
will pat your head when you comply — "thank you, dear~" <3
she's also the type to check your temperature by pressing her lips to your forehead. the main reason is genuinely to do just that, but also because she finds it adorable how you blush when she does <3
tends to dote on you a little more when you're sick. she already has a bit of a tendency to in the first place, but it only becomes more noticeable when you don't feel well. always asks if you're comfortable; if you need anything; if you'd like her to get you something — all while calling you cute and telling you how happy she'd be to spoil you.
as much as she would love to make coffee to share with you, she opts to make tea instead. she'll make coffee for herself later; you're her top priority right now.
besides — you can always share a cup later, once you feel better.
coaxes you into resting on her lap while you rest. she'll pet your head and run her fingers through your hair until you fall asleep; hums along to the music pom-pom has playing as a sort of makeshift lullaby.
oftentimes finds herself gazing at your face while you sleep.
if the others aren't currently on a trailblazing mission, she'll make sure they don't wake you; and if it's just welt, then—
he left you two alone a while ago.
"you can rest on me until you feel all better, dear~"
⸻ 𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗔
she read a fanfic like this once.
she'd be lying if she said she hadn't fantasized about something similar herself — you, bedridden and relying on her for help and comfort; her, the person you had turned to in your moment of need. there's only one bed for you to share...
when it happens in reality, though — when pela finds you trying to suppress a cough and the way your eyes are just barely unfocused — it's a lot less romantic.
in her head, she often imagined she'd sweep you up into her arms at this point — that was what artem did in that fic, as well — but now, she finds that she's far too worried to do so.
even if your illness isn't anything serious, she knows it's not something to be taken lightly — though you might be on the surface, the eternal freeze is still a problem; being outside in the cold too long runs the risk of making even the smallest cough something much worse.
her usually placid expression turns a little more concerned when she asks what's wrong; and when she offers to let you rest at her place, there's a distinct softness to her voice.
she can't take the entire day off, but she will stay with you for as long as she can; and any moment she has to leave, she assures you she'll be back as soon as she can.
brings you anything you need throughout the day — food, snacks, drinks, medicines. don't worry about paying her back; she wouldn't accept it, anyway.
is — a little embarrassedly — glued to your side once her duties are done for the day. unless you point it out to her, she won't notice until after the fact.
would absolutely love to hold you in her lap. doesn't matter the size difference between the two of you — she'll offer to hold you and will hold her arms out to you until you take her up on it. buries her face into your shoulder when you do <3
would also read her latest work in progress to you — just so long as you promise not to tell anyone about it ever.
"what do you think? for the next part, i'm considering having artem and anna—"
⸻ 𝗦𝗛𝗨𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚
whether it be hunting down a bad guy for the cloud knights or carrying an elderly woman's shopping bags home for her, shushang's favorite thing to do is help.
and her favorite person to help is you!
of course, she's not happy about the circumstances of you asking her to buy you a bottle of painkillers, but she is happy that you came to her before anyone else!
did probably panic a little bit at first, though.
when you met during one of her patrol breaks, a grimace on your face and one of your hands pressed to your temple, she launched into a series of questions before she could stop herself — "are you okay? are you hurt? did somebody hurt you? what hap—"
even after you tell her you just have a headache because of a cold you woke up with, the frazzled feeling she has doesn't fully go away.
does insist that you get some rest, though — that was what her ma always told her whenever she didn't feel good. of course, she'd usually be tired from sparring so much... but still! it should definitely still apply here.
she'll walk you back to your house with an arm wrapped around your waist so you can lean on her. she knows you're not that sick — and that you're more than capable of walking on your own — but she does so anyway. it makes her feel useful; and above all else, she really likes how it feels when your head gingerly leans itself on her shoulder.
tucks you into bed before rushing out to go buy you the medicine you asked for you — but not before stopping at the door and running back to your side to give you a little kiss on the cheek <3
stops in periodically to check on you — both whenever she has another break in her patrol schedule, but also whenever she's in the area. as committed as she is to being the best cloud knight as she can be, she can't deny the persistent worry about you that lingers in the back of her mind.
it doesn't fully hit her until her shift ends for the day and all the tension leaves her body when she's able to return permanently to your side. please reassure her that she didn't have anything to worry about :(
cooks for you!! breaks out an old recipe her ma used to make when she got sick. says it'll fix you right up, but also secretly just wants to share it with you <3
"i hope you're starting to feel better... i was really worried about you today."

The Terror: When, How, Where... (PART 1)
See part 2 for the end of my sanity (ep 6 through 9. Wasn't enough characters left on the post for ep 10)
See part 3 (and episode 10)
As I am writing the fic, I was getting frustrated at trying to figure out the timeline of the expedition. More specifically, what happens after they dropped the Victory Point Note.
Therefore, in order to organize my ideas, and also because it might be of interests to some of you, I will document here what I got.
Episode 1 through 5 for now.
Methodology
If we agree that the showrunners (and Dan Simmons to an extent) made their research, we should be able to match some of the event of the story with notable point of interests where artefacts and/or remains were found over the numerous searches made to ascertain the fate of the Franklin Expedition
I also tried to take note of all indications of time passing so that I might document their speed travel and the dates when they are not mentioned.
... And the death count. (Departing Beechey Island with 24 officers and 102 men)
Finally, I also used the following website to keep track of sunrises and sunsets: https://www.timeanddate.com/
1927 Admiralty Map
I may be an amateur in this kind of research but I find myself frustrated that the most complete map I've been able to find showing all that was found between 1850 and 1926 is shown on this map from 1927
To be noted, we now know that the Skeleton of H. Peglar was more probably W. Gibson or T. Armitage
The Skeleton of Lt. Le Vesconte has also been reevaluated and is now believed to be that of Harry Goodsir ( :( )
Also, as it happens, if we compare to 2024 maps, we can say that this is not the actual shape of KWI (close enough!).
Therefore, for my own sanity, I recreated with modern maps. Is it accurate? Well, I wouldn't publish it but I think it gives a good enough view of where they went and where they were going:
Where the Ships had drifted to in June 1847 (According to G. Gore's coordinates left on the Victory point note)
Where the Ships had drifted with the Pack by April 1848 (Victory Point Note)
Victory Point
McClintock's Boat Place (proposed to be same location as NgLJ-1)
Camp with Many skeletons
From D. Simmons' The Terror - The Hospital Camp
Peglar Skeleton
Starvation Cove
A Bunch of cairns in the area
Harry Goodsir
Gjoa Haven (Netsilik Settlement)
Fort Resolution (Dear God... look at how far they wanted to walk/Canoe/make portage...)
Matching the Show
Episode 1 - Go for Broke
Location 1 - David Young's grave (71.22, -96.60)
Date: September 5th 1846
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 14h 57 min
Twilight - 9h 03 min
Sunset: 7:51 PM - Sunrise: 4:55 AM
David Young was buried 7 days before they were beset in the ice (see point 3 on the map below).
During the dinner in which we were regaled by the tale of Mr. Fitzjames' Holes, Franklin discuss that they were approaching a bigger channel, which is now know as the McClintock Channel (see point 1 on the map below), meaning that at the time, they were still in the Franklin Strait.
On the day after his death, Franklin discuss their next course and assure that they must be 'nearly in sight of KW Land'. Crozier suggests it might take them weeks to actually make it to KWI. This would confirm what was infer above.
As we can see the two ships fitting in a cozy little cove while the grave is being dug, I would like to propose Point 4 on the map below as Ficitonal David Young's final resting place, on Tasmania Islands
Location 2 - Ships September 1846 (70.25, -98.00)
Date: September 12th 1846
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 13h 45 min
Twilight - 10h 15 min
Sunset: 7:19 PM - Sunrise: 5:34 AM
Well, for this one, we need to use the extrapolation provided by the 1927's Admiralty map by tracing the line from where the ships were known to be in 1847 and 1848 (Point 5 and 6). (see point 3)
For Future Reference:
Travel Time between Loc 1 and Loc 2 - 7 days
Distance between Loc 1 and Loc 2 :70 NM / 80 Miles / 130 km
Average Travel Speed - 11.4 miles a day
Travel Condition - Ice breaking
DEATH COUNT: 2 + 3 (Total 5)
24 Officers and 100 Men remaining
Episode 2 - Gore
Location 3 - The Ships in 1847 (70.15, -98.30)
Date: May 24th 1847
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 24h min
Twilight - None
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
Coordinates and Date From the Victory Point Note (see Point 1)
Location 4 - The Cairn (69.66, -98.27)
Date: May 28th 1847
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 24h min
Twilight - None
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
From the ships, Gore lead his party to James Clark Ross' Cairn.
Now, in the Show, they found JCR's Cairn without an issue. In reality, while Gore had found the Cairn just fine, Crozier and Fitzjames did not. One of the reason for it is that JCR had, apparently, made a miscalculation in reporting where he had erected the Cairn by several miles. Honestly, the way that Fitzjames had written the words was so confusing, I appreciate that the show made the whole thing so much simpler, ahah. So let's say that it matches what we know now as Victory Point. Easy Peasy! (see Point 2)
To be Noted, we know the dates of departure from ships and arrival at cairn from the Victory Point Note.
Location 5 - The Ice Camp (69.665, -98.32)
Date: May 28th 1847
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 24h min
Twilight - None
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
The Camp was raised just beyond the ice ridge that blocked the way form the shore and the Cairn was only a mile or so away. (see Point 3... hidden between point 2)
Of Note: That hail storm's cloud coverage was intense to say the least... So dark :')
Back to Loc 3 (70.15, -98.30)
Date: June 2nd 1847
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 24h min
Twilight - None
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
Wednesday is a good day to drink with the Captain :D which makes it the Wednesday following May 28th 1847! So it's June 2nd!
For Future Reference:
Loc 2 to Loc 3
Travel time - 8 months, 12 days or 254 days
Travel Distance: 8.6 NM / 10 miles / 16 km
Average Travel Speed - 0.04 miles a day
Travel Condition - Pack drifting
Loc 3 to Loc 4/5
Travel time - 5 days
Travel Distance: 29 NM / 33.5 miles / 54 km
Average Travel Speed - 6.7 miles a day
Travel Condition - 6 Men hauling Sledge on Ice
Loc 4/5 Back to Loc 3
Travel time - 4 days
Travel Distance: 29 NM / 33.5 miles / 54 km
Average Travel Speed - 8.4 miles a day
Travel Condition - 6 Men hauling ASS and Sledge on Ice
DEATH COUNT: 1 (Total: 6)
23 Officers and 100 Men remaining
Episode 3 - The Ladder
This one is fun because, well... they're not moving! I could point out where Silna ends up but it looks like she remain close enough to the ships that it doesn't matter all that much. So, let's just make note of the date and events:
Location 3 - Ships in June 1847 (70.15, -98.30)
For the duration of the episode:
Nighttime - None
Daylight - 24h min
Twilight - None
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
Date: between June 2nd and June 10th 1847
- Silna makes her igloo a few miles away from the Ships
Date: June 11th 1847
- Franklin Dies
- Crozier drafts his resignation letter
Date: June 12th 1847
- Franklin's leg is buried :')
- Lieutenant Fairholme is sent to KWI.
DEATH COUNT: 2 (Total: 8)
22 Officers and 99 Men remaining
Episode 4 - Punished, As a Boy
Another fun bottle Episode!
Location 3 - Ships in same approx position as June 1847 (70.15, -98.30)
Date: November 23rd 1847
Nighttime - 12h 35 min
Daylight - None
Twilight - 11h 25min
Sunset: 11:47 am - Sunrise: 10:51 am
- William Strong's birthday :)
- We know because it's the last sunrise of the year!
- Evans and Strong die :(
They searched for a long time if it was just before 4 pm when they got the alarm and then they came back in time for last sunrise at 11 am...
Date: November 24th 1847 to November 25th 1847
Nighttime - 12h 35 min
Daylight - None
Twilight - 11h 25min
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
- Hickey has a communion with Tuunbaq (supposedly next day or so)
- Then Hickey gets evily booped.
DEATH COUNT: 2 + Hickey's postern (Total: 10)
22 Officers and 97 Men remaining
Episode 5 - First Shot the Winner, Lads
More fun in a bottle. These boys are not going far...
Honestly, for this one, the trouble was figuring out how much time had passed. For one, we know it's not yet Christmas because Christmas is, in fact, mentioned in Episode 6 (And Lady Jane's Christmas Pudding, hear hear) as part of the meeting between the officer and there was not yet a cooperation between the Terror Lts and Fitzjames for counting the supplies.
ALSO! That scene where Mr. Wentzell got killed dead over his nail... well, it gave me the feeling that either the review of the crew is not daily or that they've been on Erebus for a short time because 1) Fitzjames doesn't know their names and 2) He has to repeat the instructions about cleanliness... Perhaps they sent the Terrors in waves and not all 50 of them at once.
Other details to be mentionned:
Hickey is not recovered yet and Goodsir suspects he might reopen his wounds from working.
Goodsir has had time to be quite good at speaking inuktitut. Now, he could have had a continuous learning experience from Dr. McDonald since June 47 and before but considering that Dr. McDonald is stationed in Terror and Goodsir in Erebus, I suspect they did not have much time to have a class together...
Finally. Crozier suggests that he would be 2, perhaps, perhaps more... sick from sobering up. He got up just in time for First sunrise (Jan 17th).
So! We can infer that the episode might have spanned over 1 or 2 days (what's with the movement between the ships and the whole Rat Wedding).
My best guess is that the dates for this whole episode would be:
Date: December 14th 1847 to December 18th 1847
Nighttime - 13h 32 min
Daylight - None
Twilight - 11h 28min
Sunset: N/A - Sunrise: N/A
Why December 14th? Because it would be Edward Little's Birthday and I feel like it is appropriate for his character to have his boss send him back to the killing cold for more booze :') (December 16th to December 20th seems more likely but...)
This would give Crozier a full month to recover from sobering up and 22 days for Goodsir to learn inuktitut (impressive!), for Hickey backside to feel better and for Fitzjames to NOT learn the name of his new Terrors.
DEATH COUNT: 3 + Blanky's leg (Total: 13)
22 Officers and 94 Men remaining
That's it for now. I'll do the last 5 episodes soonish...
Conclusion to the first sets of episode: Sunsets and Sunrises were whacky in June 1847 but, so far, distance and travel times make good sense. If the accuracy holds up until episode 10, we might be able to have a pretty good idea of what, when and where everything happened in episodes 6 through 10.

My Favorite Jeffrey Combs characters
Ok ya'll, I had to give in and share my favorite Jeffrey Combs characters and why I love them. I decided not to add Herbert West since he's an easy pick, plus my love for Re animator died like back in 2019 ); . Anyways, here are my favorite Jeffrey Combs characters!
Character Description: So we're starting off with Crawford. Crawford is one of the main protagonists in the 1986 adaptation of HP Lovecrafts From Beyond, " From Beyond". He is the assistant of Dr Edward Pretorius. He starts off as an ambitious assistant to Pretorius but after witnessing the power of the Resonator he slowly starts to lose himself throughout the movie.
Why I love him: It's pretty simple, he's so silly. For real though, it's cool to see how he and the others slowly start to lose themselves. I really like his style, it really reflects the fashion of the late 80's. Not only that but he seems like a really cool person to hang around, I would 100% be friends with him.
Character Description: Next we have John. John is the main protagonist in the 1995 horror movie Castle Freak. He and his family inherits an old italian Castle. Throughout the story we figure out that this Castle holds a dark secret, not only that but we learn more about the Reilly family's tragic past.
Why I love him: He's such a complex character. I love that we get to see why him and Katherine's relationship is so strained. Even though he is the cause of his sons death and his daughter being blind, you can't help but feel bad for him. He might be very flawed but the man still loves and cares for his family. It does suck he cheats on Katherine though. What's even sadder is that he dies before he can ever redeem himself. Really his story is tragic all around. He's one of those characters I wanna give a deep hug too.
Character Descrption: Next up we have Lt. Dan Margolies in the 2000 adaptation of the comic series Faust, "Faust". He is a minor character in the story. We see him figure out the truth behind the occult organization ' The Hand ' and eventually turns around and joins the main villain M into capturing Jade and John Jaspers.
Why I love him: While this movie is heavily flawed, Jeffrey Combs and Andrew Divoff definitely made the movie 10x better for me. *side note: I should 100% make a favorite Andrew Divoff characters next, since he's up there with one of my favorite character actors* Anyways, Dan is a really cool character. While he may be your typical hard boiled cop, he has his own little Combs twist to him. I like the scene in the beginning where we see him tryna rizz up Jade, that part was so funny to me. I really wished we got more scenes with him. If I'd ever became a cop, I would love to have him as my Lt.
Character Description: For my next entry, I decided to pick H.P. Lovecraft from the 1993 adaptation of Necronomicon, " Necronomicon: Book of the Dead ". He is the character that guides us/ introduces us to the stories featured into the movie.
Why I love him: While the real H.P. Lovecraft wasn't really a good person himself, Jeffrey Combs portrayal of him in this movie is awesome. It's so cool seeing him in this role. I will say though, Jeffrey Combs looks really uncanny with the nose makeup to me for some reason. Other then that I enjoyed his portrayal of H.P. Lovecraft.
Character Description: For my next contestant, I picked Jay Brooks from the 1998 horror movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Jay is the hotel manager the main 4 meets when they first make it to the Bahamas. He is very incompetent to the 4 and dismissive.
Why I love him: While Jay is a very small character in the story ( He only has 2 scenes in total ) he was such an interesting character to me. I don't know why I like him when he isn't really that important to the story. I guess it's because it's cool to see Jeffrey Combs in that haircut ( someone said he looks like Joe Pantoliano ( another one of my favorite actors ) and I can see the resemblance ). Plus his night fit was so cool and weirdly attractive to me. Anyways I would 100% try to have small talk with him and try to make him open up more to me.
Character Description: Next up we got Shepard Lambrick from the 2013 horror movie Would You Rather. He is our main antagonist in the story. He is a very wealthy man, and we see him use this wealth by hosting a deadly twist on the game ' Would You Rather '.
Why I love him: Shepard is such a interesting villain to me. While he's your typical evil rich man, he's still enjoyable to watch. I really wanna steal a suit out of his closet, his suit looks really cool to me. It does suck that we don't see him get his comeuppance, the man is pure evil and it sucks to think he's still hosting that same game of ' Would You Rather '.
Character Description: Ok for my 2nd favorite Jeffrey Combs character, we have Dinosaur Bob from the 1994 crime and romance movie Love and a .45. Bob is one of the minor characters in the movie. He is part of a local mob and throughout the movie we see him try to pursue our 2 leads.
Why I love him: 3 reasons, the man is flamboyant, he has a really cool mustache and the mans can dress. I swear Bob is one of those characters I'm real down bad for. He is so fun to watch. The scene where him and Creepy Cody bust through the tattoo parlor and starts to mess around with one dude is so iconic. That chair sit and dance lives rent free in my head. I would 100% be the Bonnie to his Clyde.
Character Description: Now for my Number 1 pick I of course chose Milton Dammers from the 1996 horror comedy Frighteners. He is a minor villain in the movie. He is an FBI agent that specializes in cases that have something to do with the occult. Throughout the film we see him try to pursue and capture our lead Frank Bannister.
Why I love him: YOUR VIOLATING MY TERRITORIAL BUBBLE!! Anyways, this mans is the definition of goofy, silly, crazy, and weirdo. Every scene he's in is so captivating. I swear I can never get enough of Milton. Jeffrey for real went all out in this role, and I love that. While bro is insane, I can't help but to feel bad for him. You can tell all those cases he took in the past really did do damage to his head. And the fact bro has many damaging scars on his body, the mans for sure went through so much trauma.
There ya'll go! Those are my favorite Jeffrey Combs characters of all time. I do plan on seeing more of his work, as there is some I haven't touched yet. I've been a fan of his for awhile, he's definitely one of my favorite character actors of all time. He's one of those actors you can never get enough of. It's so easy to fall in love with his work since the man is so talented. While I don't expect this post to get any attention, I wanted to post this anyways for the Jeffrey Combs fans. Anyways, ya'll have a good day!

Zach Despart at Texas Tribune:
BEAUMONT — Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, the top electoral target for a far-right faction of Republicans intent on controlling the Legislature, emerged victorious Tuesday over a well-funded challenger endorsed by Donald Trump and his allies.
Phelan defeated former Orange County Republican Party chairman David Covey, who also had the backing of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton and former Texas Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi. In doing so, he avoided the ignominious fate of becoming the first House speaker to lose a primary in 52 years. With all precincts reporting, Phelan was up 366 votes — within the margin that Covey can call for a recount. Covey, however, conceded in a speech to supporters at his election night party in Orange shortly after 9:30 p.m. Phelan, 48, who has seen his popularity plummet among Republicans since he backed the impeachment of Paxton on corruption and bribery charges exactly one year and one day ago, was defiant in his victory speech at JW’s Patio in Beaumont. “I will be your state rep for HD 21 and I will be your speaker for the Texas House in 2025,” Phelan said to a raucous crowd of more than 100 supporters. “This was a true grassroots effort — not the fake grassroots.”
Covey, a 34-year-old first-time candidate, not only forced Phelan into a runoff in March but secured more votes than the two-term House speaker. That outcome shocked many in the district, as Phelan was previously reelected four times without Republican opposition and hails from one of the most prominent families in Beaumont. Candidates for the Texas Legislature who trail after the first round rarely win their runoffs. Phelan carried the unique advantage of being a statewide leader with a prolific roster of political donors. Through May 20, his campaign reported spending $3.8 million on the runoff, more than double Covey’s $1.6 million. Their combined hauls amounted to what was almost certainly the most expensive state House race in Texas history. It was also an ugly contest — Phelan accused Covey of running on “lies and deceit” — where the candidates attacked each other in a flood of mailers and television advertisements.
[...] Phelan’s win is a major blow to the party’s ultraconservative faction that is led ideologically by Patrick and Paxton and financed by megadonors like West Texas oil magnate Tim Dunn. It is a group that rejects compromise and bipartisanship, demonizing Democrats and the Republicans willing to work with them. This ascendant wing has supplanted the party’s traditional focus on taxes and regulations with highly divisive social issues like transgender rights and book bans. In defeat, that group did not go quietly. Covey called Phelan an "Austin swamp creature" who only secured reelection through the support of Democrats, which he said was a "brazen act of betrayal." Paxton, an early endorser of Covey who had campaigned for the challenger as late as Tuesday afternoon, echoed the claim. The attorney general, who had vowed revenge against Phelan for supporting his impeachment, said the speaker had "blatantly stolen an election from the hard-working people of his district" by courting Democrats. Paxton said Republicans should move to closed primaries — a priority of the far right — and he issued a warning to members of the House.
[...] But whether Phelan can hold on to the speaker’s gavel is unclear. One of his own committee chairmen, Republican Rep. Tom Oliverson of Cypress, declared his candidacy for speaker in March. But no members have publicly endorsed Oliverson, and while his reelection was in doubt, Phelan was able to keep the rest of his caucus from open rebellion. [...] Attacked by his enemies as a RINO, Phelan was also widely considered more conservative than his predecessors, Phelan secured passage of the state’s near-total ban on abortion, permitless carry of handguns and several first-in-the-nation border security bills. Phelan was easily reelected speaker in January 2023 with all Democrats and almost all Republicans in support; conservative rumblings of dissatisfaction amounted to a paltry three votes for another candidate. And he batted away far-right criticism of the House’s longstanding practice of appointing Democratic committee chairs, appointing them to lead eight of 34 committees.
Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R) staves off MAGA wing/Farris Wilks/Tim Dunn-funded candidate David Covey to narrowly keep his seat and his Speakership gavel.

I know I'm probably a weirdo for this, but one day I got to thinking, what if Pokemon was lingually accurate? Like, if characters were named appropriately based on their region? So I actually went through Bulbapedia and compiled a list of every major character's names in other languages. And just in case anyone else was curious, I thought I'd share it.
I'm going from the English base, so I'm majorly not including Unova, Galar, and most of Alola. Ones that are weird or are migrants I give explanations for.
Kanto: Japanese
Red: Same in English and Japanese
Leaf: Same in English and Japanese
Blue: Technically referred to as Green in Japanese since the original games were Red and Green (hence remakes being FireRed and LeafGreen), but is considered Blue internationally and it makes more sense to me (Red picks Charmander, rival picks Squirtle to be better, thus Blue).
Kakeru (Chase)
Ayumi (Elaine)
Shin (Trace)
Takeshi (Brock)
Kasumi (Misty)
Lt. Surge: His original title is "The Lightning American" and there's a whole tribute gym to his in Alola, so it's very likely he's from an America-inspired region, thus English name.
Erika: Same in English and Japanese
Kyou (Koga)
Anzu (Janine)
Natsume (Sabrina)
Katsura (Blaine)
Kanna (Lorelei)
Siba (Bruno)
Kikuko (Agatha)
Wataru (Lance)
Rocket-dan (Team Rocket): Literally written in katakana "ro-ke-t(su)-to"
Sakaki (Giovanni)
Ohkido Yukinari-hakase (Professor Samuel Oak)
Johto: Japanese
Hibiki (Ethan)
Kris: Same in English and Japanese
Kotone (Lyra)
Silver: Same in English and Japanese
Hayato (Falkner)
Tsukushi (Bugsy)
Akane (Whitney)
Matsuba (Morty)
Shijima (Chuck)
Mikan (Jasmine)
Yanagi (Pryce)
Ibuki (Clair)
Itsuki (Will)
Karin (Karen)
Minaki (Eusine)
Apollo (Archer)
Athena (Arianna)
Lambda (Petrel)
Lance (Proton): Yes, this is confusing with the Indigo Champion's English name being Lance.
Utsugi-hakase (Professor Elm)
Hoenn: Japanese
Yuuki (Brendan)
Haruka (May)
Mitsuru (Wally)
Tsutsuji (Roxanne)
Touki (Brawly)
Tessen (Wattson)
Asuna (Flannery)
Senri (Norman)
Nagi (Winona)
Fū (Tate)
Lan (Liza)
Juan: His Japanese name is Adan, but he uses different foreign words by localization (English in Japanese, Spanish in Viz's anime dub, and French in the Adventures manga's translation) so is likely foreign. Juan is his name in English, German, and French.
Mikuri (Wallace) Rune no Tami (Sootopolitan)
Kagetsu (Sidney)
Fuyou (Phoebe)
Glacia: Her name in Japanese is Prim, but she's implied to be from a more Western-based region. Glacia is her name in both English and French.
Genji (Drake)
Tsuwabuki Daigo (Steven Stone)
Datsura (Noland) Factory Head: Same in English and Japanese
Kogomi (Greta) Arena Captain (Arena Tycoon)
Tucker: Implied to be foreign, especially as his Japanese name is Heath. Tucker is his English name, and most other Romantic translations are loosely similar and come from the respective languages' word for "tactics". Dome Superstar (Dome Ace)
Azami (Lucy) Tube Queen (Pike Queen)
Ukon (Spenser) Palace Guardian (Palace Maven)
Jindai (Brandon) Pyramid King: Same in English and Japanese
Lila (Anabel) Tower Tycoon (Salon Maiden)
Higana (Zinnia) Denshousha (Lorekeeper)
Lutia (Lisia) Lutti (Lissi)
Tylulu (Ali): Lisia's Altaria
Magma-dan (Team Magma): Literally written in katakana "ma-gu-ma"
Matsubusa (Maxie)
Kagari (Courtney)
Homura (Tabitha)
Aqua-dan (Team Aqua): Literally written in katakana "a-ku-a"
Aogiri (Archie)
Ushio (Matt)
Izumi (Shelly)
Odomaki-hakase (Professor Birch)
Sinnoh: Japanese
Kouki (Lucas)
Hikari (Dawn)
Jun (Barry)
Hyouta (Roark)
Natane (Gardenia)
Sumomo (Maylene)
Maximum Mask (Crasher Wake): Maybe a little more clearly than the English name, it's a stage name and his real name is unknown. He's called "Maxi" for short, so it could just be that.
Fantina or Kiméra: Her name in Japanese is Melissa, which is a clearly Western name along with using foreign phrases. The difficulty here is in original Japanese (as well as French, logically) she speaks English, while most other localizations she speaks French. Fantina is her name in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Kiméra is her name in French.
Suzuna (Candice)
Denzi (Volkner)
Ryou (Aaron)
Kikuno (Bertha)
Ōba (Flint)
Goyou (Lucian)
Shirona (Cynthia)
Kurotsugu (Palmer) Tower Tycoon: Same in English and Japanese
Neziki (Thorton) Factory Head: Same in English and Japanese
Dahlia: Same in English and Japanese Roulette Goddess (Arcade Star)
Kokuran (Darach): His Lady may be likely Unovan, but his lineage is never specified and he seems to have a Hisuian ancestor, so him being from Sinnoh is likely, hence Japanese name. Castle Butler (Castle Valet)
Argenta or Kate: Kate is her name in Japanese and is clearly Western. Argenta is her name in English, German, and Spanish. Stage Madonna (Hall Matron)
Momi (Cheryl)
Gen (Riley)
Baku (Buck)
Miru (Mira)
Mai (Marley)
Looker: Honestly, I just prefer Looker because it seems smoother to say as a codename than his Japanese codename which is Handsome. Looker also has the double meaning that Handsome doesn't, like he's looking/watching, because he's a detective. Looker is also his name in Portuguese, and sometimes in German, Spanish, and Italian. Every one of his codenames is a reference to his appearance ex. LeBelle in German and Beladonis in French.
Ginga-dan (Team Galaxy)
Akagi (Cyrus)
Mars: Same in English and Japanese
Jupiter: Same in English and Japanese
Saturn: Same in English and Japanese
Pluto (Charon)
Nanakamado-hakase (Professor Rowan)
Hisui: Japanese
Teru (Rei) Chō satai (Survey Corps' (Trainer class))
Shō (Akari) Chō satai (Survey Corps' (Trainer class))
Ginga-dan (Galaxy Expedition Team): Shares it's name with the modern Team Galaxy in Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian.
Kamado or Denboku: His original home region is unknown and he bears Galarian armor that looks strikingly similar to Kalosian Wikstrom. Denboku is from raidenboku, an alternate reading of the Japanese rowan, nanakamado, which is Rowan's Japanese name. Kamado also comes from nanakamado.
Shimaboshi (Cyllene): She is originally from Hoenn, but Hoenn is also Japanese so that means nothing for her name.
Perilla (Zisu) Keibi-tai (Security Corps)
Kine (Pesselle) Iryō-tai (Medical Corps)
Tao Hua: Same in English and Japanese Seizō-tai (Supply Corps)
Sazanka (Sanqua) Kenchiku-tai (Construction Corps)
Nabana (Colza): His original region is apparently unknown, but Japanese is still a safe bet. Also most other localizations stem from Nabana rather than Colza. Hatasaku-tai (Agriculture Corps)
Haku (Rye) Hatasaku-tai (Agriculture Corps)
Mube (Beni): His home region is apparently unknown, but Japanese is a safe bet. Imozuru-tei (The Wallflower): [directly from Bulbapedia] From imozuru (vines of Japanese mountain yam or sweet potato), Mitsuru (Wally), and tei (common suffix in restaurant names)
Taisai (Choy)
Sharon (Anthe): Oddly, Sharon is her Japanese name.
Kongō-dan (Diamond Clan)
Seki (Adaman) Osa (Clan Leader)
Yone (Mai) Captain (Warden)
Hinatsu (Arezu) Captain (Warden)
Susuki (Iscan) Captain (Warden)
Tsubaki (Melli) Captain (Warden)
Wasabi (Sabi) Captain (Warden)
Shinju-dan (Pearl Clan)
Kai (Irida) Osa (Clan Leader)
Kikui (Lian) Captain (Warden)
Yūgao (Calaba) Captain (Warden)
Garana (Palina) Captain (Warden)
Hamarenge (Gaeric) Captain (Warden)
Shō-Chiku-Ba (Miss Fortunes)
Omatsu (Charm) Yatō (Bandit)
Otake (Clover) Yatō (Bandit)
Oume (Coin) Yatō (Bandit)
Ichō Shōkai (Ginkgo Guild)
Ginnan (Ginter)
Tsuiri (Tuli)
Volo: Same in English and Japanese Pokemon Tsukai (Pokemon Wielder)
Cogito (Cogita): She is a whole ass mystery, but Cogita (her name in English and German) is just a (non-existent) feminine form of Cogito, her Japanese name, which comes from Latin and basically means "I think", as in Decaretes' "cogito, ergo sum" or "I think, therefore I am". French and Chinese use the respective language's variation of the phrase as a base for her name, while Spanish and Italian use Greek words, for "wisdom" and "intelligence" respectively.
Professor Laventon: He's Galarian, so his name is English.
Unova: English The only ones I'm doing here are ones that AREN'T necessarily the English version.
Clay or Yakon: I've heard Clay may play on Japanese businessman tropes, and he has an ancestor in Hisui, so his name could be either of these.
Lacey or Taro: As Clay's daughter, her situation is the same as his.
Cyrano or Mirtilo: English and Spanish names respectively. Lives in Unova, but as Clavel's classmate could be from Paldea maybe? Saffron or Milo: As above
Kalos: French
Kalem (Calem)
Serena: Same in English and French
Sannah (Shauna)
Trevor: Same in English and French
Tierno: Same in English and French
Violette (Viola)
Lino (Grant)
Cornélia (Korrina) Héritière (Successor)
Amaro (Ramos)
Lem (Clemont)
Mache (Valerie): Mache is actually originally from Johto, hence her Japanese name.
Astera (Olympia)
Urup (Wulfric): Given he likely has a Hisuian ancestor, it wouldn't be unlikely for his name to be Japanese. Luckily, his Japanese and French names are the same!
Malva: Same in English and French
Narcisse (Siebold)
Wikstrom or Thyméo: Since we know his armor is likely Galarian his English name isn't out of place, but his French name is Thyméo.
Dracéna (Drasna)
Dianthéa (Diantha) Grande-Duchesse (Grand Duchess)
Aurore (Morgan)
Méridia (Dana)
Vesper (Evelyn)
Nix (Nita)
Millie (Emma) Elili (Essentia) Femme Louche (Suspicious Woman) Enfant Louche (Suspicious Child) Jeune Femme Louche (Suspicious Lady)
Gribouille (Mimi): Millie's Espurr friend
Team Flare: Apparently the same in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
Lysandre: Same in English and French
Ancolie (Aliana)
Brasénie (Bryony)
Cyane (Celosia)
Myosotis (Mable)
Xanthin (Xerosic)
Professeur Platane (Professor Sycamore): Somewhat surprisingly, his Japanese and French names are the same, though they do both originate from the French word platane.
Alola: English Hawaii is an American state, and there isn't a Native Hawaiian translation of the games, so English is the default language here. But Hawaii does have ties to the East, so I will use some of the Japanese names if they make more sense to me. Most are just slight spelling changes anyhow.
Yo (Elio): Moved from Kanto to Alola, so Japanese name.
Mizuki (Selene): Moved from Kanto to Alola, so Japanese name.
Ma'o (Mallow): Technically her Japanese name is just Mao, but ma'o is the Hawaiian word for Hawaiian cotton and I feel spelling it that way feels better.
Sophocles or Māmane: Both names after the same plant, the Sophora chrysophylla, it's common and local Hawaiian name being māmane.
Hapu'u (Hapu): Hapu'u is her name in Japanese and comes from hāpuʻu, the Hawaaian tree fern.
Molayne or Mullein: Molayne is just a different spelling tbh and I kinda think it looks better.
Skipping Galar; there aren't really a lot of clear foreigners besides Kabu whose name is the same.
Paldea: Spanish and Portuguese I look at both languages because Paldea is based on the Iberian Peninsula and not just Spain. However, with Portuguese, I'm having to look at Brazilian Portuguese, which is not quite the same as European Portuguese, because that's almost all that's on Bulbapedia. I generally choose whether to use Spanish or Portuguese based on if said name is also the same as the English and/or Japanese name. Or default if only one is available. Also uhh my order might be a bit weird here because I didn't get to actually play these games. I kinda assumed you go through the teachers before Gym Leaders, so...yeah. I can re-order it later if that's wrong or confusing.
Florian: From an unknown region, but the same in English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian.
Juliana: From an unknown region, but the same in English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian.
Nemo(?): She is noted to not be from Paldea but her home isn't specified so it could be anything. Nemona is her name in English and E. Portuguese, Nemo in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Thai, Noêmia in B. Portuguese, Nemila in German, Nemola in Indonesian, and Nemi in Italian. The odd ones out are Mencía in Spanish and Menzi in French.
Arven: Same in English and B. Portuguese
Academia Naranja (Naranja Academy)
Academia Uva (Uva Academy)
Miriam: Same in English and B. Portuguese
Saguaro: Same in English, Japanese, and B. Portuguese (as well as German and French)
Dendra: Same in English and B. Portuguese
Cloe or Mora (Raifort): Cloe is her name in Spanish, and Mora is her name in French, which I only include because her English/Japanese name Raifort is from the French word for horseradish apparently, so maybe she's Kalosian.
Silvio (Salvatore)
Mila (Tyme)
Jacques (Jacq): The B. Portuguese name as it's closer to his English name. His Spanish name is Cinio, which is Spanish for his Japanese name, Zinnia, which could be confusing considering Higana.
Clavel: Same in Japanese, Spanish, German, French, and Italian. English and B. Portuguese just adds another L. Clive: Same in English and B. Portuguese Director Escolar (Director)
Catarina (Katy): Her B. Portuguese name, which is closer to her name in English (Katy) and Japanese (Kaede).
Brais or Brás (Brassius): His Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively, as both are very close to his English name.
Kissera (Iono): Her B. Portuguese name, comes from "O que será?" apparently meaning "what will it be?", which is closer to the intent behind her name in Japanese (Nanjyamo, name given to an unusually large tree that grows in a particular place; literally meaning "What is it?") and English (Iono, as in "I don't know") than her Spanish name, e-Nigma. Which makes me think of the Riddler.
Fuco (Kufo)
Laureano or Lauro (Larry): His Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively. Larry could be a nickname for either though.
Lima or Citrina (Ryme): Her Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively. Lima has the same puns on lime and rhyme that English and Japanese does, but tbh makes me think more of lima beans. Citrina is from citrino (citrus).
Tuli or Tulipa (Tulip): Her Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively.

TV Guide - May 9 - 15, 1964
Victor Morrow (born Victor Morozoff; February 14, 1929 – July 23, 1982) Film and television actor. He came to prominence as one of the leads of the ABC drama series Combat! (1962–1967), which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Series. Morrow continued acting up to his death during filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) when he and two child actors were killed by a stunt helicopter crash.
Morrow began appearing on television in the early 1950′s, guest starring on shows like The Millionaire, Matinee Theatre, Climax!, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Restless Gun, Trackdown, Richard Diamond, Private Detective, and Telephone Time.
Despite appearing in movies Morrow remained mostly a television actor, appearing in Naked City, Wichita Town, The Rifleman, The Lineup, Johnny Ringo, The Brothers Brannagan, The Law and Mr. Jones, The Lawless Years, The Barbara Stanwyck Show, General Electric Theatre, Target: The Corruptors, The Tall Man, Outlaws, Bonanza, Death Valley Days, Alcoa Premiere, Suspense, The Immortal, Dan August, Hawaii Five-O, Mannix, Sarge, McCloud, Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law and The Untouchables.
He was cast in the early Bonanza episode "The Avenger" as a mysterious figure known only as "Lassiter" – named after his town of origin – who arrives in Virginia City, and helps save Ben and Adam Cartwright from an unjust hanging, while eventually gunning down one sought-after man, revealing himself as the hunter of a lynch mob who killed his father; having so far killed about half the mob, he rides off into the night, in an episode that resembles the later Clint Eastwood film High Plains Drifter. Morrow later appeared in the third season Bonanza episode "The Tin Badge". (Wikipedia)
Rick Jason (born Richard Jacobson; May 21, 1923 – October 16, 2000) Film and television actor most remembered for starring in the ABC television drama Combat! (1962–1967).
In the 1950′s Jason received offers for television series. He guest-starred on ABC's anthology series, The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse. In 1954, he played Joaquin Murietta, the notorious Mexican bandit of the California Gold Rush, in an episode of Jim Davis's syndicated western series Stories of the Century, the story of a railroad detective investigating crime in the American West. He appeared on the NBC interview program Here's Hollywood, in the Rawhide episodes "Incident of the Coyote Weed" and "Incident of the Valley in Shadow", and co-starred in 1969 in The Monk.
In 1960, he starred as insurance investigator Robin Scott in The Case of the Dangerous Robin, a syndicated American television series that lasted only one season. It was not renewed due to Jason's health issues, including back problems. In 1962, he began starring in the television series Combat! as Platoon Leader 2nd Lt. Gil Hanley, probably his most memorable role. In this series he shared the starring role in an alternating episode rotation, with Vic Morrow as Sgt. Chip Saunders, though in many episodes they both appeared. The show was a hit that lasted for 152 episodes in five seasons. (Wikipedia)
The outlandish TV Spoof was the British Series, “The Avengers”, starring Patrick McNee and Honor Blackman.

so recently i finished reading the terror (which was… something), and as i went to sleep that same day a fragment from one of the early chapters of the book came back to me (not in a dream fortunately, though that shit do be haunting me). as i was reading the book, i didn’t focus on small bits that i would usually stop on and research, as i really just wanted to reach the ending of this brick of a book, but something that caught my eye was a chapter of franklin’s talking about the search parties sent out to look for leads. i remember vividly that i read a fragment clearly stating that lt edward little before joining the franklin expedition actually sailed with crozier before (and james clark ross), and i remember that so vividly because i went and screamed about it to my friend, because…. THATS INSANE??? and for some reason i just left it at that and read the rest of the book, mostly thinking that i hallucinated that fragment entirely, or remembered it wrong actually. well i have came back now to the early chapters and found said fragment, and no. i was not wrong. the fragment (in chapter 9 franklin, page 139, of the 2018 edition of the book by transworld publishers) clearly reads “little, an old arctic hand, sir john understood, a man who had gone south with crozier and james ross eight years earlier“. since i am not a native english speaker i looked up a polish translation of the book, thinking that maybe my brain wasn’t braining properly, but turns out no, i'm not that dumb. but i digrees. i think if you type that fragment into google, word for word, in quotes there should pop up a version of probably illegal pdf version of the book. and i think i went a little insane with this, because a) my read of edward in both the book and the show was of a man who clearly never before was put in those kind of conditions, possibly tried his best, though failed miserably (there is a scene in the book also, where at the “go for broke” meeting he proposes going out into land and getting wood. as to be expected, the men in the room literally laugh at him. so he doesn’t seem to be experienced with the polar climates at all, as seem to be most of officers on the ships), b) i have done little research (pun intended) and checked up two things. first, the 1839 ross expedition’s list of officers that i managed to find. there is no little, and the only edward (also a lt) there is one with surname bird.
we know from ed’s little biographical dictionary that he became lieutenant in 1837, and unless he didn’t serve as an officer on the ross expedition, there is no mention of him anywhere that i could find.
from this tiny biography of edward’s voyages we also know that little’s closest ever ship to either arctic or antarctic was in 1842 to south america. which is not very close. attentive readers may have also noticed that when the ross expedition set out in 1839, edward little was busy on the board of britannia.
(also while doing this cool little research i have found out that edward possibly met franklin before joining the expedition, and according to lady franklin letters, her husband held little in high regards, which i found interesting)
so now i just really want to know, did dan simmons just straight up decided to make stuff up for fun or…... cuz if so, then he really do be writing fanfictions out there (or maybe someone is more informed then me, just a random person on the internet, in that case PLEASE HELP ME)
but i guess now in the terror universe edward little has served under crozier before (also with thomas jopson, who historically served under crozier), which is something for me to think about when i want to make myself really sad in the middle of the night. or maybe it’s just supposed to show how franklin has no idea who these people who serve under him are, that man is wasaay to old to be out there in the cold you know what im saying

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton said Monday she will “carry out my duties” ahead of the historic impeachment trial of her husband, Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, but did not outright say whether or not she will recuse herself on a vote to remove him from office.
Breaking weeks of public silence since her husband was impeached in May, Angela Paxton did not address the accusations in a statement released by her office.
Whether Paxton will cast a vote with her husband's job on the line has raised ethical questions ahead of the looming trial in the Senate, which is set to begin no later than August. State law compels all senators to attend, but is silent on whether she must participate.
“As a member of the Senate, I hold these obligations sacred and I will carry out my duties, not because it is easy, but because the Constitution demands it and because my constituents deserve it,” Paxton said.
A spokesperson did not immediately respond Monday night when asked whether she intends to vote.
The statement was released on the eve of when rules surrounding the trial are expected to be finalized Tuesday by the Texas Senate. There are 31 senators in the chamber, which is led by Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who has declined to comment on Sen. Paxton's potential participation in the trial.
Ken Paxton is temporarily suspended from office pending the outcome of the trial.

Biden Slammed For Auctioning Border Wall Materials, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Vows To Purchase Them For Trump
The sun sets behind a gap along the border wall at the Morelos Dam between the US and Mexico in Yuma, Arizona on May 31, 2022.
The Biden administration has reportedly been auctioning off border wall materials ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, sparking backlash from lawmakers accusing President Joe Biden of purposely sabotaging the incoming administration.
The report, first emerging from The Daily Wire, was corroborated by anonymous Border Patrol agents who reached out. They spoke out against Biden’s sale of the border wall panels, which are being moved away from sections of the southern border.
“They are taking it from three stations: Nogales, Tucson, and Three Points,” the anonymous agent stated, adding that he estimates roughly half a mile of the unused border wall is being moved per day.
“The goal is to move all of it off the border before Christmas,” he continued.
“When Trump comes back, and he wants to start the border wall all over again, the whole entire funding fight is gonna happen again,” he stated. “That’s their play. He’s gonna have to fight for this sh** again.”
The materials, which Biden chose not to use following Trump’s first term, are reportedly being hauled off to Arizona by DP Trucking, LLC, a government contractor.
“They just started taking all the wall that was not used, which is still totally good and usable, and they started taking it northbound,” he agent stated. “They’re pulling it all off the border.”
The wall materials are then auctioned off online through “GovPlanet,” an online auction house specializing in military surplus, where bidding for the materials begins at $5.
Republican lawmakers have estimated that around $300 million in taxpayer funds going towards the wall have been wasted and left to rust following Biden’s decision to discontinue construction on the border wall.
Meanwhile, Trump has vowed to continue where he left off in his last administration, as fortifying the southern border played a key role in Trump’s re-election efforts.
“The Biden Administration is well aware they shouldn’t have reversed the construction of the border wall,” stated Rep. Eli Crane (R-Ariz.).
“If it’s true, they’re purposefully hamstringing an incoming president, it wouldn’t be shocking. Why would they want to see President Trump succeed with policies they aggressively sabotaged,” he continued.
“The American people gave President Trump a mandate in November, which included the fulfillment of his plans to secure the border,” Crane added. “Any last-ditch attempt to obstruct this mandate by the Biden Administration would be a direct affront to the will of the people.”
Additionally, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (D-Texas) has vowed to purchase the auctioned border wall materials from the Biden Administration in order to donate them back to the incoming Trump administration.
“I will bid on all of that wall and we will buy it in Texas, and we will give it to Donald Trump,” he stated. “I’ve got a billion dollars in my pocket to do it.”
Patrick’s comments came during an interview on Fox News, where he was asked what he thought about Biden auctioning the wall off.
“It tells you they’re despicable. They’re despicable on what they’re doing to the American people, and the American people obviously aren’t gonna tolerate it, that’s why they were thrown out… We’ve been trying to buy this wall from them for four years and they wouldn’t sell it to us,” he added.
