Remember Lee Chul Min?

You know, the asshole who abandoned everyone at the Shelter to die and go on to found his own Guild?

Yeah, there's no mention of him succeeding in life beyond that.

And knowing how petty and malicious Cale can get, I imagine him waiting until Lee Chul Min has peaked at life.

Maybe he got married, had a kid or two. Maybe he reunited with a surviving relative. I imagine his job as a Head of a Guild gives him a pretty generous paycheck. I also imagine his subordinates greatly respect him.

Then KRS strikes.

Now knowing in canon proper, LCM is a coward with a "survival of the fittest" mentality. In Earth 2, he had to be gaslit into staying and helping with Cale cutting off all matters of escape for him within a conversation. I imagine his counterpart in Earth 1 is no different, but he's worse. He doesn't learn from running away. If anything, he'll probably double down on his toxic "I have the power to do anything I want and everyone else weaker than me is canon fodder" mentality.

And that's what KRS would use against him.

I imagine he flips everything over and exposes LCM for what he truly is and all the shady shit he's, without a doubt, been up to in all these years.

KRS didn't just go after his job. He went after EVERY ASPECT in LCM's life that he has built on the corpses of Central Shelter.

His wife divorced him. His kid(s) are ashamed of him. His relative disowned him. His loyal subordinates, who just days before would have happily died for him, now wants to feed him to the next monster that shows up. And all of Korea wants his head on a pike.

Even after all this, KRS is not yet done with him.

As a last show of "mercy", KRS pays out of his own pocket the best lawyer money could buy, so LCM could avoid the death penalty by the skin of his teeth.

And so, LCM is quietly serving a life sentence in prison.

But not before KRS anonymously spread around the names of the surviving relatives of the prisoners that LCM had allowed to die so he could continue to live his cushy life after the fall of Central Shelter.

His only condition, LCM still needs to pay in blood for the rest of his miserable years, don't kill him.

You try connecting Cale's actions post the transmigration to his past as Kim Roksoo and it gives you more insight into how he might have been as a team leader. Like, take the Golden Plaques thing for example. You know Director Ma gulped and clutched his pocket everytime he had a meeting with the guy because he knew Kim Roksoo was boutta suck him dry.

I love side story 2 because of this particular reason. Choi Han did mention it after getting Choi Jung Soo's memories that his personality is still the same even after transmigrating. But side story 2 shows us how. He wasn't known to the public much but he was famous among the government and guilds and all the power players. And I doubt it'd have been for a different reason then. Even then he was a terrifying bastard whom they couldn't help but listen to because he was the most efficient tactician.

This is why reading the initial chapters of the series, specifically the war with the indomitable alliance, after knowing his past as Kim Roksoo puts so many things into place. Like, no wonder he was so good at understanding the power dynamics between the nations. No wonder his predictions were so on point. Even with the knowledge of TBOAH world it would have been difficult for anyone else to achieve such an overwhelming victory in the war. Their side never lost a single battle and it's in huge part owing to the expert strategising of Cale.

The Church of the Sun God insulted Mary and Cale decided in a heartbeat he'll bring them down for daring to do so. Do you think something like that ever happened on Earth? Someone insulted his subordinate and he instantly started plotting their demise? He lost a subordinate once. If it was due to someone's betrayal, like a colleague, a guild or any other human or organisation, you know they never came out alive from that.

Something I initially really liked about Cale's character is how he suddenly became the "trash" of the count's family and he seemingly takes it as an asshole permit.

No manners, rude? Well duh, He's the local trash.

And then, hundreds of chapters later it hit me:

This guy really never changed the way he acted, he says so himself and it's why Choi Han was able to easily recognize him in Choi Jung Soo's memories.

Which begs the question: What sort of internal narrative did he have going on as Kim Rok Soo to "justify" his behavior?

Baby Rok Soo was at the bottom of the social ladder, an orphan, poor and his uncle was an alcoholic and a gambling addict to boot

How many times do you think he heard things like "What can you expect from someone without parents?", or "Just what you would expect from someone who wasn't raised properly"

"Someone of your kind"

And then he became a Team Leader

How many things did he do or didn't do under the pretense of being "Cold-blooded"

It also doesn't help that he's unable to process praise or kindness directed at him.

Im not sure if I'll get vol 3, but I'm definitely getting this one, it's sick as hell.

I'm also not sure if it's the commanders outfit cuz this isn't anywhere near that arc I'm pretty sure. I think they just put him in a cool outfit cuz why not. I'm going to assume it's not unless explicitly told it is. Like, it makes no sense for them to change it to white.

The reason Cale Henituse brings me so much comfort and hope as a character is because he continuesly makes his life harder and harder throughout the novel, all because he stands firm in his beliefs and never loses his humanity. Even when he believed he was inside a novel, he just couldn't ignore people like On and Hong, or Paseton. He is the type of person, that if he were to be stuck in a regression timeloop, he would repeat the events over and over because he would save everyone again in every timeline even if it meant not "passing", he would never hurt them.

Alberu: someone is stuck in the sloth test? Well , it couldn't be Cale Henituse, that man always talks about being a slacker but he doesn't know how to relax, it could be anyone but him...

So... The Cape of the Sun is an item Cale got from Xiaolen. It belonged to the first god that came from Xiaolen. So, any guesses who that God may be? At this point, it could be any of them. Ones we know or ones we don't. Because so far we are only certain about the origins of two gods. God of Fire of Purification, who is the original owner of the Fire of Destruction ancient power, and the Sun God, who we know had bad blood with the Sage of Death and cursed the dark attribute species. The Sun God one is not explicitly stated but the hints given were enough. And the Fire of Purification one is obvious enough (though I wonder why then his church is in Xiaolen and not Nameless 1). So excluding those two, it really could have been any of the gods. The ruler of the first empire on Xiaolen, a single-lifer, later on a God. Do we know any Gods who may have been an Emperor in the past? I don't quite think it's an ancient god, but it's not entirely impossible since we don't know whether the worlds are older or the gods. I just don't think it would be the Sealed God, since his chapter is basically closed. And the cape is said to raise dignity. Which part of the Sealed God was dignified?

Incidentally, I would like to propose the theory that the God of War is the true owner of Dominating Aura. We now know that it wasn't Choi Jung Gun. I kept wondering why Cale never mentioned that the deep and dominating voice belonged to Choi Jung Gun even after meeting him in the Sealed God's Temple test. The owner of Dominating Aura was someone else. And he was related to God of Chaos somehow (?). That's all we seemed to know of him. Also, he must have existed before the times of Ancient White Star. Or he died because of that bastard. Since Choi Jung Gun got his power, he must have been dead and left his power behind. And incidentally, it's suspicious that we have yet to meet the God of War despite him having been mentioned all the way back in Part 1. We've met three ancient Gods already despite their first mention being in the side stories, but not the one God who was mentioned as chapter 170's of part 1. Why is he kept as such a mystery? The fact that both the orginal owner of Dominating Aura and the God of War seem to have connection to God of Chaos makes me suspicious. If I'm not misinterpreting things, the Dominating Aura seemed to not like God of Chaos. What if after becoming God of War he pretends to cooperate with him while plotting his demise? We'll have to wait for more canon hints but for now this is my theory that God of War is not an enemy.

The side character that I'm the most unreasonably attached to is definitely Choi Jung Gun

I had my eye on the author of Birth of a Hero ever since Cale noted how many words he used to describe the Whale King's beauty in detail

And the silly names of the abilities of Dragon Slayers, which the title itself is also in English in the original Korean text

"Dragon Slayer", not because it meant that there was any actual dragon slaying involved, nononono. It was because he and Sheritt thought it sounded cool I can't. I bet this guy was super-sentai posing after he won a battle, I can see it.

His relationship with Sheritt gives me "Finally a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!" vibes

He was so much fun during the sloth test (stupidly long hair? hello? that's my favorite)

And beating GoD with a broom? He is so iconic, I fear

Anyway, all of this just to say that Chuunibyou Choi has a special place in my heart
