I was getting into BloodRayne for the hell of it and found out the first game is in 1933 Lousisiana.

Now i love the dark y2k aesthetic with the badass leather and all but like... in 1933?? Had me confused. So I just tried to make her outfit more relative to the time period for fun.

maybe a weird question but where are you from? asking because you use a lot of phrases that aren't common where i'm from (northeast us) and i'm curious

I am from the pacific northwest united states! A lot of my colloquialisms come from my parents, who grew up in Las Vegas, with mom's family coming from Lousisiana.

Modge podge of strange pop culture references, phrases I've picked up over the years from the 'rents, and other things make up a lot of my casual speech. Dad and his brother (my uncle) have an especially attention-grabbing way of telling stories and saying things.

It's funny how regional differences can affect dialect and phrasing!

Wasn takes place in a an area (that doesn’t exist IRL) that’s at the edge of the southern wetlands/swamps and the end of the Appalachian mountains. This is because One side of my family grew up near Appalachia and one grew up in the wetlands. I say this place exists in Alabama because it’s the state that has both of these places. (Also it’s the state I was born and raised in and I believe it deserves more love) Though to be very fair there is a lot of Louisiana influence.

For example Mr. Farrow is Creole. A lot of the monsters originate in Louisiana. And other things like that.

Hey im back again with authors notes for this one paragraph tumblr post.

I rambled a bit about this in the tags but the inspo behind this post (and most of my horror!bitb posts in general) is the magnus archieves, because that podcast is one that specifically focuses on societal horror. Like horror based on the fear of loneliness, being watched, losing your mind, ect ect. And bitb is just, fear of change, of not changing, as well as tma's fantastic bug horror (cannot recommend enough if you like bitb)

Secondly this post is also a love letter to horror films like little shop of horrors and invasion of the body snatchers. Mainly as both feature a threat to human that came from outer space, and have connections to nature. In both of those films despite being aliens trying to take over the planet, both of the entities insert themselves in society as plants, very similar to the bugs in bitb. And invasion of the bodysnatchers has that fear of being replaced/loved ones being not them, and little shop of horrors is really focused on fear of humanity. Of your fellow man turning on you in exchange for money, fame, whatever. Lsoh also is very connected to its enviroment like bitb. Like of course the invasion of extraterrestials happened in a small flower shop in skid row, and of course aliens would land in a small town in the Lousisiana bayou.

See on one hand, Im pretty happy with how the horror in bitb is handled. Its creepy, gory and all around fun. But on the other hand I think the pcs got off too easy. Sometimes I like to think of a bitb where the bugs are more connected to the land and town. Where the cicadas and clicks began to sound like a lullaby their mother would sing. Where the bayou was always a little red-ish and the air always a little heavy and sweet. I like to think that alcohol is scarce because so few of the residents drink it( and now you have to think its its simple preference or...). Im thinking of a bitb where kian and rolan come home to a galloway changed in a huge unexplainable way.

But it still (despite of , or maybe because of it all) feels like home.
