✨i've been playing the sims 4 since it came out, nine years ago !! and i wanted to show off as many of my legacy founders (and heirs) as i found the time to makeover. list of their challenges below !!✨
ellie cahill + rhiannon irving ⭐ classic legacy gen6 heirs
i've never completed a full 10 generation legacy, but the closest i ever came to was my mahi'ai family legacy--link to plumtree in case anyone's curious--that i made probably about four or five years ago. both of these girls are cousins and were my next gen heirs, sharing the title, but i never played passed their teenagehood because my cc became outdated and then my laptop died 😔
gunnaifer glock ⭐ vampire legacy founder
okay gunnaifer is..she's special to me, ok. my first semester at college, as a joke i had two of my friends make vampires in the sims and then i made gunnaifer so we would each have a vampire. because vampires (technically) don't die, the legacy didn't get very far...but maybe someday i will share her heir, and apprentice, kovo'lettre.
sienna kibo ⭐"i'm surrounded by idiots" challenge gen2 heir
i don't remember much from this challenge other than it being a lot of fun, and showing me the extent of the parenting skill (lol). maybe i'll pick it back up with sienna, but it has stayed unplayed for years so...who's to say.
cyra ⭐ black widow challenge founder
okay !! so cyra was created with a friend of mine a couple years ago, i think i played the challenge for about a week before outdated cc made me drop it (exactly like the classic legacy). cyra got to husband number 5 and she had 2 kids, and i don't remember her last name and i didn't write it down anywhere and i think that's both funny and sad. curse the game for automatically updating it when you get married !!! 😡
anika dreamer ⭐ nightmare legacy challenge gen2 heir
i don't remember much from my nightmare legacy, so when i opened it for the first time in a long time i was surprised to find all the sims i did remember had DIED. which. given the challenge made sense, but anyways so i revived anika to make her over. she had already completed her challenge and passed it on to one of her three sons, but she was a globally-renowned comedian and a stylish old lady. i love and miss her.
himiko kibo-tan ⭐ not-so-berry legacy gen3 heir
the one and only time i tried to do the nsb challenge, i got to himiko and i lost a lot of the motivation to play. i've thought about starting over, if not the whole thing than just generation three, but haven't gotten around to it. again, maybe someday !
rosalie ember ⭐ spellcaster legacy gen2 heir
THE LEGEND. im not even lying when i say that i spent multiple hours in the middle of the night, crazy out of my mind, trying to find this save. i must have deleted it for some reason ??? anyways, after accessing my old hard drive i finally found an older version of the save that had my baby rosalie in it. her makeover is probably my favorite. and yes, one of her parent's is morgyn ember. 🧙♂️
if you actually read ANY of that,, thank you,,, !! i don't think any of them will pop up on my blog again but..i don't know. anything is possible lmao 🤔

Gen 1 Retrospective (The lost generation)
So back when I started this challenge, I was on a different computer, I didn’t have reshade, I had no idea how to pose sims, and the entire concept of taking photos alongside playing baffled me. But then I got reshade...and then I figured out how to pose. So by the time gen 1 was just about to move onto gen 2, I was dipping my toe in the storytelling thing. Also the difference is wild.
This is probably the first photo from this legacy (no editing)
This is a photo I took last week (no editing)
I consider this to be my first real BPR post. I did put up a few photos from the tail end of gen 1, but this was the first pose that turned out the way I wanted.
I completed a NSB last year and it was the most fun I’d ever had with my game because of all the colours involved, so that was my berry gateway drug. That and some really good BPR stories made me want to try the challenge for myself.
But basically the whole thing should have been completely different. First of all, Morning Star was my third attempt at a BPR founder. I previously had a played through gen 1 arc, and then Neige was gonna be my founder with the whole Snow family as a backdrop, but I got bored of both those saves.
I originally didn’t make Morning’s parents. I figured I kept getting bored trying to play through the traditional rebellious teenager runs away from home thing, so I just decided to skip it. The parents you see in the story I went back and created from her genetics...but she did always have a sister.
I played through as Morning for a while, mostly just focusing on the goals of the challenge. I dropped Rhubarb in and made him a cop. They actually did meet when he wandered past her house one day. So the thing about Rhubarb is that he was hot-headed. He yelled a lot - but never at Morning. So she was always completely smitten with him and I felt extremely guilty about breaking up their marriage. The original plan was going to be that they married too young, had too many kids too fast and then got divorced when Morning met someone who she had more in common with. But they were always just so devoted to each other I couldn’t break them up, plus Rhubarb was a shockingly good dad despite his inability to keep a dollhouse in one piece.
I used to make Morning work on her creativity skill at the art centre so she wouldn’t be trying to keep up with her toddlers’ needs. By this point she had three kids, and then Orion appeared and started randomly talking to her while she painted, and I just kinda...deleted the door. I sort of made them keep talking until they fell in love. Then Morning and Rhubarb went out to a dance party, Rhubarb just flipped out at the bartender out of nowhere, which did piss Morning off. So I had her go over to Orion’s place to give me that purple baby.
Aurora and Autumn were my two picks for heir this generation, and they both originally had different names.
Yeah. Autumn was originally going to be Winter but then pulled the red hair and I ended up not liking the name for her. Aurora was going to be Venus but when she aged up to a kid I decided it didn’t fit her. I do this kinda a lot where I try out names and then change them if I feel they don’t fit. But Rory was seriously this close to being Venus. I don’t think Autumn was Winter for more than like, a day.
Autumn was also originally going to be the heir, but then Rory just kept getting more interesting to me. She picked up Rosebud and Posey as friends all on her own, she independently started practicing the writing skill, she and Autumn started getting into fights. Plus there was the matter of Autumn looking like Morning’s clone. So I let Autumn keep her original traits which I felt were intrinsically hers at this point (she’d been a vegetarian since she was a child and was always a jerk about it).
This generation was more about gameplay and each subsequent generation has become more and more storytelling and pose focused. I really enjoyed playing this gen and I’m planning on doing more gameplay in the upcoming generations. I took this opportunity to go back and give some small makeovers to the original family, which was super fun. I’m going to be posting some of the missing scenes I shot with them later today or later this week.
I hope you enjoyed this gen 1 retrospective! Gen 2 is up next, where I finally get to talk about Chant 😭

Today has been frustrating. That’s all I’m going to say. Well, it started off nicely, I did something I was proud of. Then it went kinda downhill. I’m probably going to make it even worse as soon as I post this...there’s this thing I’ve been thinking about for the past few days. Considering I’m soooo good at communication and expressing my feelings, it’s going to end up great, you can bet.
Sarcasm aside, let’s talk about my legacies:
I just queued the rest of part one of Gen 6! It’ll run for like 40 more days though.
After that, I’ll finally post the first generation of my BPR, almost a year after starting it. I know what you’re thinking, I’ve been posting TS3 for months, I should switch back to TS4 now, it would be fair, and yes, I thought about that too. But I kinda really want to get rid of the BPR. Gen 1 is finished and I don’t want to keep it to myself anymore.
As for gen 3 of NSB, I haven’t been playing it too much recently. I’ll play it a lot in June though, I hope. As soon as the exam chaos is over.
I’ve also made some decisions about Roses, but I’ll talk about these later. There’s still a high chance I’ll change my mind.
Besides, when do I not make decisions about Roses? They’re on my mind way too often. It can’t be healthy.
Update: I’m still not done with my replies but I just got a message from my teacher, saying that I did well on the English writing exam! I don’t know the exact grade but yay me. I mean, I knew I was going to do well on this one, but finally seeing I passed feels much nicer than “oh yeah, I’m confident about my English, there’s no way I can fail”. The way this exam system works...I was worried it wouldn’t scan properly or some crap. In the past, people had problems with that.
Update 2: Still writing the replies but I just found out that apparently I got 100% on the exam. Holyyyyy crap.
tiny-tany-thaanos replied to your photoset “Courtney: I really married this idiot. I’m stuck with him forever. Oh...”
Don't worry it could be worse. It could be Ross for example (sorry, not sorry)
Ooooooh. Yeah I mean, what Felix does is kinda natural, what Ross does (or used to do)...is just wrong.
sparkiemonkey replied to your photo “I have three weeks to learn everything for my last exams. Am I dying...”
Good luck with your exams. You can do it.
Thank youu! I hope so. I feel like I still remember nothing from the notes, but at the same time, when I read some of them, I’m like “duh, I’ve heard this a million times, of course I know what it is!”
desira-sims replied to your photo “I have three weeks to learn everything for my last exams. Am I dying...”
If it makes you feel better, I’m constantly rethinking how I should have posted my story too. I think it’s why I’m enjoying doing these mini photo shoots for Gen 2. It’s glimpses into their life that I didn’t fully express in my story.
I feel like everyone does this, they get great ideas when it’s too late to change it. Some people are just better at moving on, I guess. Not that I want to move on from gen 4, nope.
justkeeponsimming replied to your photoset “Let’s see what we have down here…”
The lighting in this shot is gorgeous!
It is! Isla Paradiso underwater is amazing. I wish there were more diving spots though.
deathflowertea replied to your photoset “It’s getting dark so fast. This should be a quick dive, or else…well,...”
this is how midnight sun challenges start...
Imagine if I did that. I love this idea.
dreamsongsims replied to your photoset “Houston we have a problem I forgot Isla Paradiso is a glitchy mess”
Yes. Yes it is. All that work to get to a dive spot and BOOM! Right back to shore.
It’s frustrating that it’ll most likely never get fixed :/

I also got an ugly haircut with ugly blonde streaks when I was 15 :’D guess that’s a 15 years old thing? XD Anyway, love the pic! *O*
It might be?? And it wasn’t even a good blonde. In many photos, it just looks yellow, sometimes even a little green. But hey, I learned from my mistakes, now I’m never going blonde :D
And thank youu! ♥
justkeeponsimming replied to your photoset “I love this…wait, it seriously take me a whole day to get here?!”...”

She makes the best faces, I love her ♥

Haha a BIG mood
Biggest mood
I thought episode 4 fucked me up...but then episode 5 came and...let’s just say ep 4 was alright compared to this.
twistedsim replied to your post “Well that was an amazing surprise! ”
Shit! I just now saw the score. XD Damn, you whooped Sweden's ass!
Usually it’s the other way around :D Yeah, it was great to watch. I was expecting to be disappointed but not surprised, but actually...if I’m not mistaken, that’s our best score with Sweden ever. And then with Norway, we did great too...too bad we lost with Russia today. There were so many chances and not a single goal...but oh well, it’s just one game. It doesn’t mean anything. I hope.
flowerhoneysims replied to your photoset “I was just kidding I don’t actually want her to die jkahdkfahdflg”
My diver died because of a shark ;-;
Oh nooo ;-;
create-a-sim replied to your photoset “Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck was that a shark?? A SHARK??? I’m gonna die I’m...”
Ohhh :(
This was actually a funny moment. I thought “Awesome, her mother died in a fire, she’s going to be eaten by shark and who’s there to save their ass with a ‘quit without saving’ button? Me again! Maybe they’re telling me I should stop playing this legacy.”
But then she wasn’t actually killed by a shark. Phew.

I love this dress.
Me too! And I never use it for some reason. I wish I had something like this irl.
desira-sims replied to your post “So…I took a break from studying to watch the latest episode of Game of...”
I haven't watched this season yet. I keep saying I'm gonna sit down and binge it, but haven't done it. Maybe I'll do that Wednesday.
Oooh, I’m not sure if I would be able to binge watch it. Every episode left me feeling overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions, doesn’t matter if they were negative or positive. Actually, I don’t think this season is as bad as so many people online say...it’s not perfect but nothing is. 🤷♀️
Then again, speaking of binge watching, I was able to watch the previous seven seasons in less than a month last year, so maybe it is possible.
plumbobhart replied to your post “So…I took a break from studying to watch the latest episode of Game of...”
I hated it sooo... yay? D:
I’m not sure how I felt about it. Like I’ve said already in this post, today has been frustrating and this episode contributed to that. There were some things that bothered me, some decisions that bothered me, oh and there was a great example of character development going to hell (that really disappointed me tbh), but overall...idk, I guess I still kinda enjoyed it - I mean, as much as one can enjoy this tv show. It was brutal.
I’m not going to talk about it all in depth though, I could spend whole evening with that and I don’t want that haha :D

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 9 Ep 24: Good Vibrations
Luigi lost his relationship due to lack of quality time, but back at the townhouse his relatives spending the most time together were bonding anew.
Tess and Hunter’s friendship had slowly deepened, and midway through a date night activity they had gone to “on a whim”, the unexpected couple decided to put their cards on the table and give this new direction for their relationship a real shot.
---------------------------------------------
Tess was technically only a bit older than the other Britechester residents, but she’d been “born” into immediate responsibility for her younger siblings in Great Grandpa Chance’s household, and that lack of childhood freedom of her own made her distant cousin’s passion for life very attractive.
For his part, Hunter found her unique no-nonsense outlook refreshing and was invested in seeing where they could go long term.
His tentative questions about the physical compatibility of flesh and steel revealed that this was actually a topic Tess had put some thought into and had even explored a bit while dating Julio. Her offer to show him exactly how it worked caught him by surprise and captured his imagination.
---------------------------------------------
Luigi had just left for an e-sports event, and when the eager couple realized he had the house’s only full-size bed, they decided to borrow it “quietly”.
They turned out to be extremely compatible, and Luigi was almost due back by the time Hunter had to call for a break.
---------------------------------------------
Their experience together had made them both doubly certain they wanted to pursue their relationship long term, but Hunter was worried about how Tess’s creator and his great-great-grandfather might take the news when he stopped in to tune up his eldest daughter’s mechanics.
It turned out Chance’s reaction was a hearty laugh and well wishes for the couple. He explained that having spent centuries married to his father’s best friend, he was the last sim who would throw stones at others finding love in unconventional and complicated places!
He promised not to breath a word to Hunter’s overbearing parents until they decided how best to handle that revel, chuckling all through Tess’s maintenance and his trip back home to his second chance love in Strangerville about the nervous self-consciousness of young lovers.
---------------------------------------------
In no time a sturdy new double bed was installed in Hunter’s room. No more sneaking into Luigi’s for this couple!
Although they were sure they wanted to take things as far as they could, neither of them were in a rush to commit to exclusivity just yet.
It’s not like they would lose track of each other, living under the same roof, and both young Sims were keen on the idea that the college scene was an excellent place to gain wider romantic experience. Sharing their learnings with each other regularly was something they both looked forward to!

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 9 Ep 92: A Captainly Conversation
While Luigi and Noemi were telling her family about their pregnancy, his co-captain’s gestation ended with the delivery of a healthy baby boy.
The two had long ago arranged for Luigi to pick up the slack as sole team leader while his friend was recovering from surgery. Even though the extra work and his own baby prep stole the very last dregs of his free time, he jumped wholeheartedly into running the team.
Luigi was feeling quite proud of his preparations, wishing that Beau was there to see how well his first solo meeting was going, when a text arrived. He followed the instructions for adding his buddy's laptop to the LAN remotely and soon his co-captain was spectating matches over voice chat.
It was clear Beau wasn’t just “phoning it in” either, as he popped in and out of games and private chats, mentoring their newest players all night.
“He certainly isn’t acting like someone still on painkillers” Luigi thought, right before another message popped up, this time asking for “the honor of an audience with His Highness tonight in my chambers (Post Birth Recovery Ward, Suite 3).” Sighing, Luigi let Noemi know he’d be home late.
Thanking his past self for the Seldom Sleepy trait that made that night’s visit bearable and the following day less of a concern, Luigi found Room 3 at last. He was surprised to see Beau still hard at play, rapidly pounding the life out of the opposing team of some random internet matchup.
“Your pardon, your grace, I’ll be with you as soon as these guys realize they’re completely outmatched and surrender.”
Sure enough, the game soon wrapped up, and Beau hit the restroom before gingerly lowering himself to join his friend on the small visitor couch.
Luigi couldn’t keep his curiosity in check. “Aren’t you supposed to be taking it easy? I thought they just got done gutting you like a fish!?”
“Eh, the surgery went off without a hitch, and honestly, the recovery isn’t nearly as painful as the BOREDOM! I’m stuck in this stupid room, and my wife is too busy between her job, her candle making, and taking care of baby Bruce to come visit. I’m dying in here!”, his friend whined.
Luigi suppressed a surge of annoyance. They could easily have caught up virtually, but clearly Beau was starved for company. Besides, now that he was here, with a new father eager to talk, maybe he could gain some insight into his own concerns about becoming a dad.
“Actually, since we’ve got some time to chat, I did have something I wanted your advice on.” Beau was by no means the first sim that came to Luigi’s mind as someone to confide in or dispense wisdom, but he did just get direct experience in juggling the demands of school, e-sports, and pregnancy.
“Noemi and I haven’t told many folks other than our families yet, but…” he was interrupted by a sudden explosion of laughter as his friend exclaimed
“Oh my stars! You… I mean Noemi’s pregnant, isn’t she? His highness is going to have a little heir to the throne running around soon, huh?"
At Luigi’s confirming nod, Beau told him in a more serious tone “Well congratulations to you both, then. Adding a pregnancy on top of everything else was challenging, but nothing worth doing is ever easy. One foot in front of the other, over and over, is the only way to get to the finish line.”
He went on “Thanks for stepping up with all the prep work for tonight’s practice by the way. I’ll do the same for you when your little one comes.”
Luigi replied, “We’ll all be graduated before my baby arrives, but that’s the thing. I know how to prep for a game, for a class, for a meeting, but I feel lost when it comes to prepping for a child. I’m going from being a pro to being a complete noob, and I hate it. I don’t want to be a failure as a dad.”
“Well, I’ve only gotten to hold Bruce for a few hours so far, but you know he’s not really my first kid. When I married Brianne, I became a father to her daughter Bailey, much to her embarrassment. Parenting a teen isn’t easy, but I have a good partner, and got great advice.”
He looked firmly at Luigi and continued: “The number one thing you need to remember is that it isn’t about YOU. The only victory condition in parenting is when THEY win, and the best you can do is to help them along and don’t let your pride make it harder on them.”
They chatted a bit longer before Luigi eventually took his leave, thanking Beau for his advice and wishing him a speedy recovery.
As he headed towards the exit, he reflected on what Beau had said. It wasn't all about him anymore, and Luigi realized why hearing that had hit a nerve. Although he'd always been happiest when he was in a relationship, managing to put his significant others first or, to be honest, even reliably near the top of his priority list, had always been a struggle. Someone brand new to the world would need a lot more from him!
Could he shift his focus enough to provide his son or daughter with the care and attention they deserved and required? He honestly wasn't sure, but he knew that whether he liked it or not the time was fast approaching when he would have to give it his best shot.

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 8 Ep. 155: Love Wins
When Peachy finally decided to show up to Jack’s birthday party, he found that Chance’s house in Strangerville had descended into chaos.
It seemed their friend’s attempt to make Jack’s birthday cake had somehow managed to set the stove on fire. Jack, on the back porch with Chance, had spotted the blaze and run inside, directing everyone else to evacuate with the children while he attempted to extinguish the inferno.
When the last of the flames subsided under the foam Jack discovered his husband watching him silently from the doorway. As he approached, Peachy hung his head, telling his best bro how much he loved him and apologizing for being so selfish about his birthday gift.
---------------------------------------------
Jack wrapped Peachy in a tight hug. They spent a while enjoying the moment before heading outside to let the others know the danger had passed.
On the front porch they settled on the bench where Jack had just pored out his woes to Chance to talk things over.
Jack went first. He was sorry that he couldn’t compromise his virtues to spend more time with his family. He had been raised to believe it was only those limits that let people truly focus on making happy memories of real quality to take with them into the hereafter. Peachy nodded his head, repeating what he’d said that day at the falls. If they had less time together than he’d hoped, then they should make the most of the time they had.
In their old habit together at heartfelt moments, Peachy tossed out an artfully awful compliment joke, and Jack returned it without missing a beat.
---------------------------------------------
Back inside the men wrapped their boy in a hug before heading back to the kitchen Chance and Bianca had already cleaned up, to prepare Jack’s birthday cake together.
In no time everyone was gathering in the dining room for the main event and Jack aged up amid the cheers of his nearest and dearest. Peachy breathed a sigh of relief when he did not, in fact, immediately drop dead and quickly followed it up with a kiss for his newly gray-haired love.
---------------------------------------------
That night Jack had a nightmare about a birthday that had gone much worse. Peachy hadn’t changed his mind and reconnected at the party, the distance between them had grown wider, and they went their own ways for awhile before family finally helped them get back together.
The nightmare continued past his own death, to the lingering regret Peachy suffered over that lost time, until Jack woke weeping softly.
---------------------------------------------
Relief washed over the newly minted elder when he saw his husband sleeping peacefully beside him. He sent a silent prayer of thanks to the watcher that his dramatic nightmare scenario hadn’t come to pass before settling back down in the warm safety and comfort of his best friends’ arms.
They didn’t have much time left together, and he intended to cherish every second of it.

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 8 Ep. 146: Forever After
Their descendants were getting the bad news that team farm had passed on, but from Steven and his friend’s perspective, the good news was that passing into the next world seemed to be a comfortably familiar situation.
They found themselves out front of what looked like the Von Haunt estate, with Jasper and Veronica approaching to greet them.
---------------------------------------------
Once the twins had been released from their overjoyed parents embrace Jasper started to tell them what was going on, but Steven beat them to it.
As the favorite descendant of many of his ghostly ancestors, he’d had information that they weren’t technically allowed to directly share. In life he’d needed to be discrete about secrets not for the living, but now that they were all “on the other side” he could tell his friends about their forever home.
This, he said, was the nether realm. If they visited the living world as ghosts they would appear roughly as they had left it, but here they would always be at the age representing the prime of their life. Jasper agreed, stating that while many arrived as young adults, they had shown up much older, at the age they’d been when they’d enjoyed their fabulous vacation, and makeover, in Tartosa and fully embraced their true self completely.
---------------------------------------------
Jasper was excited to show them where they’d be living from now on, after re-introducing the “kids” to some old friends.
As they followed in Nobi’s wake Steven further elaborated that he’d heard of a variety of Nether arrival experiences, but members of their family first appeared at this mirror of the estate where they celebrated the Black and White Bash that officially ushered each generation into elderhood.
Upstairs in the main dining area Steven was gratified to see a large collection of family members waiting for them. With a smile Jasper said that the room wasn’t usually so crowded, but the arrival of the author who had spent his career writing their stories had drawn many interested parties.
---------------------------------------------
Steven told them all to expect to meet everyone they remembered from life sooner or later, but Kori was shocked to see someone she could only barely recognize across the room. Leaving Ed behind she dashed into the arms of her long-lost mother and buried her face in her familiar curls.
Following behind Ed took the seat his mother-in-law had just vacated, next to his own parents, who had apparently been chatting with his wife’s family.
Xavier and Lexi greeted their son with a smile, they joy at being reunited with their oldest child expertly expressed with their usual classy reserve.
---------------------------------------------
Once everyone got to a chance to say hello and catch up with their closest relations Jasper once again collected the group of new spirits. They promised there would be plenty of time to continue those conversations but just now they needed to get settled in their new home. One short teleport later they arrived at a place that didn’t seem “new” at all.
In front of them was Steven’s beloved farmhouse, just as he remembered it from their youth, complete with Cloudy contentedly prancing around outside his stall. While he showered his old friend with love Jasper explained that everyone’s home here was tailored to their unique tastes, and this mirroring of their mortal home so closely was a sign they’d been quite happy with it the first time around.
With that Jasper and Veronica headed home, leaving the others to settle in and get reacquainted with their little slice of lasting Paradise.

NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 8 Ep. 52: Down and Out
It was a good thing Peachy was keeping an eye on Jack, as being driven out of his calling again really did a number on his mental health.
Peachy had been worried that having Jack around all the time might take some getting used to, but that worry was replaced by another when Jack isolated himself in the guest room, hardly ever coming out to mingle with the household.
---------------------------------------------
Jack had always been ambitious and had just gotten his career back on track. To lose it all so suddenly, again, was almost too much to bear.
Jack felt like a failure. He’d meant it when he told Peachy he wasn’t going anywhere, SimNation was his home now and Peachy meant too much to him to just walk away. However, professionally he felt adrift, with no idea where to find a new opportunity or even how to begin.
The only thing that made him feel normal was being out of doors in The Bay. When he managed to pull himself away from moping and crying to sit at the inlet behind the house with his fishing gear, he found the pursuit of his hobby brought him peace. It didn’t solve any of his problems, or bring back his lost work satisfaction, but the soothing water and a good catch at least made him feel like less of a loser, for a time.
---------------------------------------------
Peachy was worried but wasn’t sure how to help. With their relationship being so new he didn’t want to overstep, and Jack had no family in the nation he could call for assistance, so he mostly tried to stay out of the way and give Jack space to work through things in his own time.
He threw himself into his work instead, putting in long hours and focusing on problems with less emotional baggage. When this paid off with a promotion, he marched into his depressed boyfriend’s room, determined to use the excuse to get Jack out of the house and celebrating with him.
They were officially a couple now and hopefully his good news could bring Jack joy, the same way his parents had always treated a victory for one of them as a victory for both.
---------------------------------------------
Jack didn’t feel much like celebrating but he was proud of the new sergeant and couldn’t resist Peachy’s boyish eagerness.
They hit the town together, visiting a couple night life hot spots. Drinks, his boyfriend’s comedy, and a dip in the hot tub smoothed away Jack’s concerns, and for a little while he felt on top of the world again with his best friend and partner by his side once more.
---------------------------------------------
Jack’s good mood lasted until the end of the night. When he got back to the homestead instead of his own lost ranch, the weight of the “real world” came crashing down on him and the brief blip of joy left him feeling even worse somehow by contrast.
Jack thanked Peachy for a lovely evening but told him he didn’t think he wanted to go out again anytime soon. It was too much emotional whiplash, and he just didn’t feel ready to face it. Both men headed off to bed disappointed.
Peachy had loved seeing Jack acting like his old self again and realized he had to figure out something to bring his friend back to himself for good.
