Happy Year 1 Anniversary Lorfolk! To help celebrate this momentous occasion, the Spiritwolves have granted special boons to their pack followers. One copy of Luana's, Orrin's, Mika's, or Elius' Boon apparel items have been sent out via notifications, while the rest are purchasable from the Featured Items section in the Mole Market. Additionally, all players will have received one Anniversary Pheonix companion and a Totem of Whelping. The Spiritwolf Boons and Pheonix Companion will be available in the Mole Market until Monday, May 13th, and will return for next year's celebration.
Let the celebrating commence! Lorian musicians have composed a brand new score to honor the event. The song "Head In the Clouds" is now available to everywolf!
We want to thank all of our players for their support over the past year. Your passion and feedback have been invaluable, and we're deeply grateful for your continued enthusiasm. Here's to another year of shared adventures and unforgettable moments as we continue exploring the world of Loria!

I love Lorwolf but they have to start addressing long-term issues and suggestions. Current long-term bugs... - Broken Achievements (still standing, mirror mirror) - Broken Smelting (4 ore will not smelt when stoked if a gem was smelted prior, can be circumvented by dropping another ore) - Puppy Predictor (does not work with customs, which means you cannot check to see if you want to sex swap) - Icons (panda buns still swapped, green bamboo makes orange, red bamboo makes green) - Dark Overlay (random overlay that prevents further actions until refresh) - Companion Index being inaccurate (features consumed legendaries which have been confirmed will never be added) - Mole Market visual bug (when buying out a section, does not show as bought out until refresh) - "Does Eat Oats" (still encounterable even after quest completion) - Mobile Wolf Bio (cannot edit on mobile) - and probably a lot more Granted, some of these are smaller, and they have been fixing bugs. Gauntlet achievements prevent the final tier from being reached. Custom demo being broken fucks up one of the biggest aspects of the site (breeding). Dark Overlay is such a damn pain in the ass. And then there is the suggestion boards. Pointless. Still cannot sell more than 100 items at a time. Fishing is still the worst profession, but they've obviously been too concerned about cooking. Inability to sort wolves and search wolves in market and breeding. Inability to lock wolves. I wouldn't be surprised if the Murkwood event ends up being a reskinned Icerun event. Different apparel, sure, but the same gauntlet/arena thing. Same milestones, same pricing.

Yeah Santae isn't remotely unique lol. My own experience with 'neo clones' is mostly Subeta (also played Neopets) and Santae is basically just a newer Subeta. What sets Santae a little bit apart is the potential of animated HA items, and certain costs like pet renaming and pet slots is a lot cheaper. The 'check price' feature is also better than Subeta's, especially on mobile (a godsend in the NPC shops/your shop/quests). The item art is bigger and I think the HA art too (not on your profile, but it looks bigger in the forums) and that's significant when we're all getting old here. The pet colors also have potential, they seem pretty unique so far.
However, Subeta has years and years of operation backing it up. Not always a good thing, because I tried introducing it people and they said the site just felt old and dated. But in terms of item diversity (especially HA items)? Obviously blows Santae out of the water. Also the wardrobe on Subeta is so much better and I don't know if Santae is capable of reworking theirs to a similar degree. Dappervolk's wardrobe is still vastly inferior to Subetas in terms of functionality. The Subeta economy is well established at this point too. Right now 100 CSC (1 sancash equivalent) is about 8.5 million sp (their free currency is also called sp, yes) and I think that's pretty stable. However, it is a concerning that a site as young as Santae already has 1 Sancash going for 3 million sp. Oh and Subeta also has a fully functional battle feature, and I can only hope that Santae makes theirs a little more unique.
Ironically, despite the 'Neoclone' category of pet site, I feel like Neopets is actually fairly different from Santae. The way you earn neopoints is NOT through quests at all, and instead it's mostly food club, daily quests, restocking. Meanwhile for Santae and Subeta, the fastest way to earn sp is through NPC quests. Also Neopets pets are highly customizable and you can dress them up. Neopets is having a revival but there's been lots of ups and downs with the new TNT (they are now fully independent).
I think maybe people want to play Santae because it's exciting. It's a fresh new site. It's not teetering on the verge of financial ruin like Neopets. I don't know how well Subeta is doing financially but I think it is only alive due to user loyalty and there's no new 'big feature' in years. Hell, they changed the summer event from something big and unique and elaborate into the same dinky 'buy stuff from NPC' event. Also certain little things are not being kept to date, I think they missed bug hunting this year. They are trying to recode the site yet again but it's stuck in a chimera state like Neopets where some of the site is in the new layout but the rest is in the old layout.
So how much does the 'new and exciting' factor really impact Santae's future survival? Maybe it can attract people who never played Neopets and Subeta and the old Neoclones because the site doesn't look like it's from 2005 or whatever. I'm just here because supposedly CJ wants to get cross site trading up and running. Having backed Dappervolk and Lorwolf, I'm no stranger to jumping off a sinking ship at this point...

SPEAKING OF FURSONAS-
Hey Lorwolf players! Are you in Goldsea? Do you like riddles? If yes, come check out Riddle Me This!; an in-pack event I’ve been working on for about a month or so for the members of Goldsea! The first season is up and running now and currently we’re on Round 2! This one seems to be a bit harder than I intended it to be, ha, but take that as an opportunity to test your Lorwolf knowledge and see if you can figure it out! Header artwork provided by the incredible HaloCat on-site. :)
(Fursona rambling under cut lol)
I haven’t had a proper sona-sona in years, I just use pictures of lynxes (especially eurasian lynxes) because I love them, so I’d still call that my sona just not quite in the same way as most people it seems. But thankfully most people are pretty willing to work with that! I literally just hand them pictures of lynxes and say ‘like this’ lol, there’s no set design. Mentioning fursonas made me think of this and reminded me I needed to advertise the event on Tumblr because I went ‘hey, I have gotten some art of me done recently!’
I guess another difference between me and most sonas is that like, it’s not a character? It’s not ‘oh there’s me the person and then my sona is a re-imagining of me with a different backstory’, it’s just. Me. We might make jokes that ‘oh I’m actually an ancient eldritch entity’ but it’s not like, a separate character? It’s just, me. I work in a veterinary diagnostic lab. I would like to get art of a lynx in a lab coat and gloves at some point and maybe the safety glasses I never wear that live in my chest pocket asdfghjkl because hey! That’s me! There is no ‘Lynx’ as a sona that’s just. My username. That’s me, the person. That’s just what I go by. There’s no character here it’s just me.
Idk, I feel like I always have a bit of trouble explaining that lol. Like any artwork of me with friends isn’t ‘my sona with the friends in her backstory’ it’s just, me with my friends avatars. The ‘characters’ in there aren’t character-characters they’re just. Real people. Like that header art isn’t ‘Lynx and a vespen’ it’s me and one of my many vespens, idk idk lol
For the curious the other pieces of art I have are my avatar lol (for the record I don’t smoke, I’ve never even touched alcohol and am only considering possibly seeking a form medical marijuana as an oil for pain purposes some day, or seeing if I can get my paws on some non-medical oil/edibles from somewhere for my mom who has fibro; I’m actually quite against smoking bc you’re also potentially harming people around you, but if you do it somewhere as private as possible or if everyone’s already involved I’ll frown at you disapprovingly for fucking up your lungs but leave you to it lol. I just don’t like mind-altering substances idk like my own brain messes with me too much sometimes I don’t want to add something else to that man), and then this a friend drew 😭 we were messing around with a little music generator and I said mine sounded like a shop theme so one of my friends drew me this
It made me so stupidly happy you have no idea 😭
I was putting my different screen names from different discord servers into it and this one gave me a straight up shop theme asdfghjkl (this isn’t the music generator this is my music app lol)

Is Lorwolf fun?
i think it is! its obviously still very new so its a little rough around the edges in some areas but im really enjoying it so far
id say its much more focused on the breeding mechanic than the collecting one kind of similar to flight rising in that you cant really just go get wolves but you breed and buy them from other users (and theres wild wolves but those are rare (WHICH i like personally)). i also really like that theres a built in option to sell your wolves for stud so other users can breed them with their own. theres a BIG colour wheel and some nice coat types and breeds so far IMO theyre all a little samey but they arent like. identical which is good
the daily tasks imo are very fun. short and simple but theyre endless so you can just log in do as many as you want and leave. theres a like weekly event that you get "tickets" from doing the tasks in addition to earning currency which i think is cool. the events are tied to the minigames (fishing mining farming etc.). you can also earn a decent amount of the currency from them because theyre so quick you can do a lot IMO
the minigames are fun! i like the fishing and cooking best so far. i think the ones that have different levels you can unlock are a bit highly leveled (level 12 for fishing and mining before u unlock the next level) but its just the same sort of thing in a different area so i cant complain too much, just personally i would like to see it a bit different. i really like the cooking mechanic and i like that theres so many ways you can get food, and that you can discover and unlock more complex recipes. cant wait until they add more and i can play around with it :]
the campaign so far is REALLY fun. youre like exploring fighting enemies finding food etc. but theres also the actual "lore" and stories and NPCs and stuff that i think is really interesting so far and where it finishes up (theyre not complete so its short at the moment) im definitely interested in seeing more. ive done 2 of the 4 so far and theyre similar in mechanics (go fight x enemies/go find y number of items/etc.) but i think its fun. theres also a gauntlet where you just fight as high a level as you can go and get better rewards based on how far you can go AND theres a PVP option? but i havent done either of those
i havent gotten much into the apparel yet but some of its really fun AND i really like that you can do custom apparel. it seems kind of expensive to be able to make it in the first place which is understandable but a shame, but ive seen soem very interesting and creative things! i would like to dive into it a bit more once i have a bit more money but its all premium currency which i dont have much of yet
that ^ is one complaint i do have a lot of things on site are put behind premium currency while its VERY hard to get. there are ways to get it without paying for it such as selling things and custom apparel etc. and you can also "make" it with items you find but its very slow that way. i assume once the site economy stablises a bit more itll be a bit easier to come across but for now its not the best
you can also have companions little pets for your wolves. cute. you can play with them and they can fight with you in the campaign and you level them up and stuff as well. very fun
um thats about all ican really think to say so far... personally i am enjoying it! it scratches a similar itch that flight rising does while also having or expanding on features that ive seen a lot of people wish fr had over the years. plus theyre cute little puppys aw awwwwww
#answered asks#sorry i ended up explaining half the site mechanics to u INDSFS#its fun! i like it so far. its still very clearly a young site but not in a way tahts like 'its bad now but will be good later'#i think its still very enjoyable now

Do you have any beginners tips for lorwolf?
Try to do the daily activities as often as you can without paying for rush orders or stoking or anything to earn as much as you can. You might not have enough food or wolves at first to do this without a lot of waiting, but check out the forums for cheap or possibly free.
Check the Mole Market! Every 6 hours you can get a free item that's currently in stock and sometimes they're very helpful!
Look for cheap companions with XP as a possible drop. They're a way to earn XP for wolves even as puppies, so you can have leveled wolves the day they're adults if you're dedicated enough.
The arena can take some getting used to, but it's a good way to get companions or just some good cash when starting out. Synergies are important, and the pieces you get are random, but if you can get a bit of good RNG and learn how to use each piece (which is a wolf breed or a companion you might not even have!) It's a very nice way to earn a lot of pebbles, though not as quickly since it's timed. I do recommend it if you've got 20 minutes to spare
And finally you can just do simple fishing/cooking combos to get a lot of food. Fish on all your turns possible, and cook all the fish you get for an extra boost to energy! You can explore or use the gauntlet to earn items or pebbles, exploration can get you further while you don't have level 10 wolves/companions but the gauntlet can get you a lot of items you might not get otherwise, though it costs a lot of energy. I'd recommend getting higher levels first for the gauntlet, like level 5s to get through the first few waves.
Also check in the weekly events for farming, fishing, cooking, hunting, ect. They give you a special currency for each profession outside of the arena that can be used to buy items in special shops for each event. Your currency for each weekly event doesn't go away, so you'll be able to save up to afford anything during that time. You don't need to complete everything, but it's a good motivator if you just want to focus on one thing.

Greetings, Lorfolk, and welcome back to another dev update! This month, we’re thrilled to share more details about Chapter 2: Dark Horizons, unveil new insights into Archaeology, and give you a sneak peek behind the scenes. Read on to discover more:
What’s new?
Additional Expansion Features
Archaeology
Chapter 2 Campaign Sneak Peek
Additional Chapter 2 Features
Our coder JimJim has been hard at work on various new expansion features, including the Mole Market redesign, Archaeology, and many QoL updates. Additionally, there are several new features in the works that we plan on having finalized for launch; seasonal bosses, a vault system, guilds, and real-time events like notifications and live-chat! We’ve updated the Dark Horizons Expansions graphic with these new features:

Archaeology
Lorwolf’s Archaeology system will be composed of a grid of hidden treasure spots that players have to carefully dig to reach. Similar to the Mining system, fossils must first be processed, or “cleaned,” in order to retrieve their hidden rewards. Shown below are four rarities of fossils players will be able to find. Each of these fossils will contain valuable materials, apparel, trinkets, or other special items.
Chapter 2 Campaign Sneak Peek
Our writing team has been busy the past couple of months putting together the quest dialogue for chapter 2. Meanwhile, the artists are focused on tackling Campaign art like backgrounds and NPCs. Shown below is a sneak peek of each pack’s new quest hub:

As a reminder, we do not have a set ETA for when Chapter 2 will be launching, however, we will announce the date as we draw closer to give Lorfolk time to prepare.
