Awoo! Spring is coming! Murkwood is thriving with the energy of spring and the swamps bloom to life. The chorus of frogs fill the air as flowers blossom out across the bogs, marshes and pits. Water voles run along the riversides, bird song returns as they migrate back to the warmer weather and bats shake off their hibernation to fill the evening skies. From catkins budding on the willows to the crimson buds of wych elms, the wetlands burst with colour.
And with spring comes tying up loose ends and organising our spaces. There’s so much to do before launch comes round! Finishing den lore we’ve put off. Saving wolf profiles for launch. Crafting customs for our starters. Deciding our future breeding projects. Drawing page breaks and shop fronts or scenes from our lore. That’s why with the help of Kate and MaggotJuiceBox, we’re hosting Lorch! A month long creative challenge revolving around Lorwolf with a spring twist. Every day during March, anyone who wants to participate in this challenge creates either a drawing, writing or any other creative task involving their wolves or Lorwolf in general and post it online. We’ve put together 31 days of prompts to get the creative juices going. (See above.) Not liking some of the prompts? Here's a word bank you can replace any of the days with:
Transition - Rejuvenation - Sprout - Flora - Growth - Dew - Forest - Fountain - Home - Tidy - Breathe - Expand - Hope - Freedom - Voyage - Wonder - Energy - Alchemy - Delight - Acceptance
Rules:
You can post your submissions on Tumblr, in the Lorwolf’s Discord Lorch Channel under contest/challenges, or Lorch forum.
All creative tasks are counted, however irl activities like baking, knitting, woodwork, and clay-making do require an irl photo.
For written pieces: The minimum word count is 200 words. (The exception is poetry, but you must spend at least 20 minutes on your poem.)
All creative tasks must be created by you specifically for this event.
Prizes:
Prizes will be given as a code to use at launch!
Creative Task Ideas:
Aside from drawing and writing, there’s plenty of other ways to join in on Lorch. Creative Tasks can include cross-stitching, paper-folding, creating a tune, paper mosaics, crochet, scrap-booking, ceramics, cake decorating, making tea blends and jewellery. As long as it can be tied in to the prompts and Lorwolf, your den, lore or wolves, it’s a great task to do.
Don't forget to tag your submissions with #Lor-ch or tag @quichelewoof if posting on Tumblr, so others can find your wonderful creations and they can be tallied towards your prizes.

Quite possibly the funniest arena team i built to date. Critfest 2k24. Literally the only problem I had was hitting myself when the consumed guys statused mine
#lorwolf#lw arena#honestly this only cements the sheer imbalance with the companions imo#i talked about the kickstarter krane being auto-win before#you get one at the start of the game and you're set#but the boss and event shop companions are pretty broken too#some because of synergies (vortexcanis are crazy great for holiday boss grinding. all you need is a kit/dw and 2 jc and you're good)#and some due to stats and abilities (again w vortexcanis: high hp + coordinate is insane alongside a joc and a brac. immortal stun guns)#and the thing with the arena is that the comp card pool doesn't discriminate#i got spammed a bunch of kapros this time (i managed to 3-star that last one)#once I got like 5 guys w syphoning scratch one of which was a Krane. WHO would beat that.#it's exactly why pvp arena is so frustrating#sometimes you get golden teams. sometimes you get nothing but duds. and no amount of strategizing helps you against kranes

And I can see why you were excited for this one! This is such a pretty concept! Gorgeous idea!
Lorch 10: Dawn
I'm excited about this one! Why simply have a halo when the whole face can be shadowy and sparkly and mysterious, too?
[img id] A white, long-legged maned wolf on a gray background. The wolf is drawn in a clean cel-shaded style. Drawn on top of the wolf in pencil and white digital lines are a sharp shadow that obscures most of the wolf's face, paired with an intricate halo of light that clips into and out of the wolf, like a parhelion. Happy Year 1 Anniversary Lorfolk! To help celebrate this momentous occasion, the Spiritwolves have granted special boons to their pack followers. One copy of Luana's, Orrin's, Mika's, or Elius' Boon apparel items have been sent out via notifications, while the rest are purchasable from the Featured Items section in the Mole Market. Additionally, all players will have received one Anniversary Pheonix companion and a Totem of Whelping. The Spiritwolf Boons and Pheonix Companion will be available in the Mole Market until Monday, May 13th, and will return for next year's celebration.
Let the celebrating commence! Lorian musicians have composed a brand new score to honor the event. The song "Head In the Clouds" is now available to everywolf!
We want to thank all of our players for their support over the past year. Your passion and feedback have been invaluable, and we're deeply grateful for your continued enthusiasm. Here's to another year of shared adventures and unforgettable moments as we continue exploring the world of Loria!

.....Cassandra Woodgrove.....
╚═══*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═══╝
●◉◎◈◎◉● Peaceful | Gracious | Teacher x ●◉◎◈◎◉● “Roads? Who spoke of roads? We go by the moor and the hills, and tread granite and heather as the Druids did before us.” ― Daphne du Maurier
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
⌜ • ° + ° • ⌝ .Appearance. ⌞ ° • + • ° ⌟
When Loria chooses a druid to become one of its many guardians, a druid's fur changes to suit their magic's expertise and Cassandra is no exception. With the vibrant colours of a freshly plucked apple, Cassandra knew her magics calling. Cassandra protects the Fruit Grove in the middle of Darkspine, protecting the world's fruit with her swirling green aura, hiding it from all eyes except her druidic circle. Overseeing the Fruit Grove with bright lime eyes, Cassandra holds an alternate way to unlock Aura in a wolf of her choosing.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
⌜ • ° + ° • ⌝ .Personality. ⌞ ° • + • ° ⌟
Brought up by loving parents, Cassandra grew up to be a calm, peaceful wolf in tune with nature. Unlike most wolfs, Cassandra chose to never hunt and only gathered her food and the bounty that animals would gift to her. Easily able to befriend any natural-born critter, Cassandra is gifted honey from the bees, milk from migrating Bovius and eggs from friendly Nytha.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
⌜ • ° + ° • ⌝ ...History... ⌞ ° • + • ° ⌟
Despite the fact that Cassandra's parents weren't druids, nor her any of her forefathers, once her family had heard that their pup had been chosen as a guardian of Loria, they held a celebration that lasted a day for every year the pup had lived. A festival that comes around every year in her hometown as they cheered on their very own druid, proud of the fact that she was the first of her line to hold druidic magic in her blood. Cassandra is released every year by the Grove to celebrate and reunite with her family, allowing Nylian Glens to look after her Grove.
Despite only meeting the wolf for a day or two at a time, Cassandra has developed quite the crush on Nylian. She only hopes that at the Druidic Dance that comes every decade that he choses her to be his dance partner and daydreams often of getting to know him better.

You’ve already heard my squeals over this, but I still need more of Soot, Ashcloud and Ash.
Their first meeting.
Soot lives with her younger sister, Ash, deep within the forest. While her sister is often busy with mercenary work, Soot tends to their home and the small crops they grow with the help of their trusty companions.
Soot (bottom left) is initially stricken by Ashcloud's superficial similarities to her sister; from her carnation eyes to her dusty coat and the curious aura the hints at more beneath her fur (and even their names are so similar?), Soot finds herself drawn to the kit.
Ashcloud, on the other hand, is immediately smitten by the jocol. She is finally able to find peace of mind in her charming (and often witty) company.

I love Lorwolf but they have to start addressing long-term issues and suggestions. Current long-term bugs... - Broken Achievements (still standing, mirror mirror) - Broken Smelting (4 ore will not smelt when stoked if a gem was smelted prior, can be circumvented by dropping another ore) - Puppy Predictor (does not work with customs, which means you cannot check to see if you want to sex swap) - Icons (panda buns still swapped, green bamboo makes orange, red bamboo makes green) - Dark Overlay (random overlay that prevents further actions until refresh) - Companion Index being inaccurate (features consumed legendaries which have been confirmed will never be added) - Mole Market visual bug (when buying out a section, does not show as bought out until refresh) - "Does Eat Oats" (still encounterable even after quest completion) - Mobile Wolf Bio (cannot edit on mobile) - and probably a lot more Granted, some of these are smaller, and they have been fixing bugs. Gauntlet achievements prevent the final tier from being reached. Custom demo being broken fucks up one of the biggest aspects of the site (breeding). Dark Overlay is such a damn pain in the ass. And then there is the suggestion boards. Pointless. Still cannot sell more than 100 items at a time. Fishing is still the worst profession, but they've obviously been too concerned about cooking. Inability to sort wolves and search wolves in market and breeding. Inability to lock wolves. I wouldn't be surprised if the Murkwood event ends up being a reskinned Icerun event. Different apparel, sure, but the same gauntlet/arena thing. Same milestones, same pricing.

Yeah Santae isn't remotely unique lol. My own experience with 'neo clones' is mostly Subeta (also played Neopets) and Santae is basically just a newer Subeta. What sets Santae a little bit apart is the potential of animated HA items, and certain costs like pet renaming and pet slots is a lot cheaper. The 'check price' feature is also better than Subeta's, especially on mobile (a godsend in the NPC shops/your shop/quests). The item art is bigger and I think the HA art too (not on your profile, but it looks bigger in the forums) and that's significant when we're all getting old here. The pet colors also have potential, they seem pretty unique so far.
However, Subeta has years and years of operation backing it up. Not always a good thing, because I tried introducing it people and they said the site just felt old and dated. But in terms of item diversity (especially HA items)? Obviously blows Santae out of the water. Also the wardrobe on Subeta is so much better and I don't know if Santae is capable of reworking theirs to a similar degree. Dappervolk's wardrobe is still vastly inferior to Subetas in terms of functionality. The Subeta economy is well established at this point too. Right now 100 CSC (1 sancash equivalent) is about 8.5 million sp (their free currency is also called sp, yes) and I think that's pretty stable. However, it is a concerning that a site as young as Santae already has 1 Sancash going for 3 million sp. Oh and Subeta also has a fully functional battle feature, and I can only hope that Santae makes theirs a little more unique.
Ironically, despite the 'Neoclone' category of pet site, I feel like Neopets is actually fairly different from Santae. The way you earn neopoints is NOT through quests at all, and instead it's mostly food club, daily quests, restocking. Meanwhile for Santae and Subeta, the fastest way to earn sp is through NPC quests. Also Neopets pets are highly customizable and you can dress them up. Neopets is having a revival but there's been lots of ups and downs with the new TNT (they are now fully independent).
I think maybe people want to play Santae because it's exciting. It's a fresh new site. It's not teetering on the verge of financial ruin like Neopets. I don't know how well Subeta is doing financially but I think it is only alive due to user loyalty and there's no new 'big feature' in years. Hell, they changed the summer event from something big and unique and elaborate into the same dinky 'buy stuff from NPC' event. Also certain little things are not being kept to date, I think they missed bug hunting this year. They are trying to recode the site yet again but it's stuck in a chimera state like Neopets where some of the site is in the new layout but the rest is in the old layout.
So how much does the 'new and exciting' factor really impact Santae's future survival? Maybe it can attract people who never played Neopets and Subeta and the old Neoclones because the site doesn't look like it's from 2005 or whatever. I'm just here because supposedly CJ wants to get cross site trading up and running. Having backed Dappervolk and Lorwolf, I'm no stranger to jumping off a sinking ship at this point...

Greetings, Lorfolk, and welcome back to another dev update! This month, we’re thrilled to share more details about Chapter 2: Dark Horizons, unveil new insights into Archaeology, and give you a sneak peek behind the scenes. Read on to discover more:
What’s new?
Additional Expansion Features
Archaeology
Chapter 2 Campaign Sneak Peek
Additional Chapter 2 Features
Our coder JimJim has been hard at work on various new expansion features, including the Mole Market redesign, Archaeology, and many QoL updates. Additionally, there are several new features in the works that we plan on having finalized for launch; seasonal bosses, a vault system, guilds, and real-time events like notifications and live-chat! We’ve updated the Dark Horizons Expansions graphic with these new features:
Archaeology
Lorwolf’s Archaeology system will be composed of a grid of hidden treasure spots that players have to carefully dig to reach. Similar to the Mining system, fossils must first be processed, or “cleaned,” in order to retrieve their hidden rewards. Shown below are four rarities of fossils players will be able to find. Each of these fossils will contain valuable materials, apparel, trinkets, or other special items.
Chapter 2 Campaign Sneak Peek
Our writing team has been busy the past couple of months putting together the quest dialogue for chapter 2. Meanwhile, the artists are focused on tackling Campaign art like backgrounds and NPCs. Shown below is a sneak peek of each pack’s new quest hub:
As a reminder, we do not have a set ETA for when Chapter 2 will be launching, however, we will announce the date as we draw closer to give Lorfolk time to prepare.

───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
⌜ • ° + ° • ⌝ .Appearance. ⌞ ° • + • ° ⌟
When one has captured Witches as long as Sage had, one was bound to earn a scar or ten, or have the back of their fur become infused with magic. The mulberry stains that break up his cream and brown coat came from the Fifth Witch he had hunted after they had forcibly attempted to turn he, himself, into the very thing he despised. His once bright blue eyes, slowly dulled to a pitch murky colour from being exposed darkest of magics, can now detect the slightest glimpse of Chaotic Magic.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
⌜ • ° + ° • ⌝ .Personality. ⌞ ° • + • ° ⌟
Gruff and as weathered as a cliff face, Sage gives off the impression that he was born made of stone. One would not be so far from that idea. Stoic even as a young wolf, his severity was only hardened as he trained under his mentor and father, Basil. Upon Basil's passing at the hands of his first captured Witch, Sage took on the heavy mantle of finding any supporter of strife and the Witches beloved by Chaos. The years have caused him to be a stern, stubborn sort, especially when it comes to teaching. Unable to see how and why younger wolves cannot do what he did and why they're into such strange things that invite Chaos into their lives. Yet, despite that, he sees his apprentice as the child he never had and bit by bit, Sage is learning that not everything needs to be tough and stiff.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
⌜ • ° + ° • ⌝ ...History... ⌞ ° • + • ° ⌟
Witches. Unseelie. Ghouls. The unknown. Deep down in some glimmer of their histories, Chaos was at the heart of them. Yet, as proud followers of Order, Sage's father, his father's father and every father before stretching to the beginning of Loria vowed to protect the balance that Order had set. Each father had train their son alone in south of Darkspine, travelling the world here and there to get them used to the hunt and the creatures that brought Chaos to the world. In particular, Witches, the 13 Brides of Chaos. Covenbreakers, as they were named. It was his family's pride to constantly seek out the Witches and keep them sealed below the earth, in salt, metal and rowan. When a Witch returned to ash and soil, a new Witch would be born and the hunt would begin all over again.
It was a day like any other in Darkspine, in fact, it was rather pleasant when Sage's father came trudging up the hill to their little home shaking his head and mane. The porridge Sage had ate sat like a stone in his stomach at the words his father grunted. The First had lost Chaos' love and returned to the soil. Now was the time to prove his training had not been for naught. They packed well, strapping heavy Bovius leather shoes to their feet to protect them from the trek ahead. Over the lands they marched, following a black lodestone that tugged to the North. The cold lands of Icerun. Sage's first hunt, would be his father's last.
Sage had lost a chunk of his flesh, along with his boyish youth after the hunt. Hearing his father's voice chide him for being a sentimental fool, Sage dragged both his father and the First back to their final resting place in the south of Darkspine. The only person he had loved was gone.
Until a spry strange little wolf became his apprentice and brought a speck of light as a child would to a father into his life.
