dude theres this "epic woke" post going around abt how loomis was a shitty doctor because he "only talked to michael for like 5 minutes & constantly told him he was evil and it ruined him and thats why he kills and can also survive like 10 bullets to the chest and falling out a balcony, i am big brain :)" and it literally blows my MIND that people r reblogging it unironically... do they not know michael killed his own sister before he even MET loomis... im shaking
Itâs moreso than that; itâs blatantly misguiding information. I wonder how close they paid attention to the actual movie rather than just thirsting over milky myersâ body (which is actually pretty scrawny in that one lol, another point stans love to ignore)
Dr. Loomis himself said in only the most famous speech from the series that he spent 8 years trying to help Michael, and it was only after those 8 years that he realized Michael was pure evil (imagine spending almost a decade of your life dedicated to helping this one child). Whatâs really important here is to remember directors intention. This is John Carpenter telling us the backstory himself; he wants the audience to know how terrified Loomis is of his patient. It stays with us for the rest of the movie. Everything in a movie is done so for a reason, every little shot, every little piece of dialogue. Itâs all premeditated, especially in a movie like this. Everything is giving us some piece of vital information.
Now put yourself in the shoes of someone in 1978, going in the theater with no prior knowledge. Michael Myers is not the icon he is today; youâve never even heard the name. You hear Loomisâ speech, you see Michaelâs odd behavior. You wonder just how much of it is true. And then at the end of the movie he gets stabbed in the neck- and he gets back up. And then he gets stabbed in the eye and chest... and he gets back up again! And then he gets shot 6 times in the chest, and what do you know, he gets back up once more. You realize everything Loomis had been saying was right.
Itâs almost a subplot to the movie itself, a mini-character arc for the audience themselves. Itâs genius, and chilling. When Laurie realizes âit was the Bogeymanâ (emphasis on âit,â how Loomis had chosen to refer to Michael, a conclusion she came to herself), sheâs speaking what the audience is thinking.
Itâs the very definition of donât tell it, show it, one of the biggest rules of cinema, but that appears to have gone over many stansâ heads
Damn you got me rambling on this again lmfao, but it really is a pet peeve of mine on this website, especially since itâs one of the greatest artistic values the movie has being ignored
And if you try to present any of this to them, they just ignore it on grounds of ableism. All hard evidence from the movie itself, with none to back up their own. Itâs wack

bruh michael stans be acting like fools in the tags again and have taken to expressing their loomis hate in poetic form đđ your blog is hella refreshing for those of us who don't have a peanut for a brain
donât you understand john carpenter wrote michael to be BABY and 100% innocent, itâs clearly loomisâ fault for mike being a superhuman literal embodiment of pure evil đ¤đ¤đ¤
but seriously though thanks lol, that nonsense is so bizarre to me. People are so oddly defensive for a fictional murderer (WRITTEN to be the representation of pure evil)

how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man
Edit: Since this is picking up more traction than I ever expected, let me add some shid. I half-expected some salty responses, but I was not expecting full blown accusations of prejudice. If you want to make fan-theories abt Michael... go ahead my dude, just recognize that it is a fan-theory. And, more importantly, donât attack me personally with some pretty bold claims because I disagree. Iâm only explaining why I believe said theory holds no water. Read my first post from a while back if you really want an in depth explanation. Step back... clear your head... and remember this is just a movie. Halloween =/= real life

Loomis Hate is Pretty Unepic and here is why
okay gamer gals and gamer fellas and definitely a couple of gamer entities, im gonna break up the memes for a second here (itâs pretty long so if you want to skip to the bottom Iâll provide a summary)
For some reason people have decided that âyknow what the coolest protagonist in any slasher movie is actually a pretty bad guyâ after 40 years of lov&respect and I think itâs a lame trend. It really makes no sense no matter which angle you look at it. I guess if you havenât seen it, it basically goes like âDr. Loomis is responsible for how Michael turned out because he neglected him and just assumed he was pure evil, never giving him any actual treatment.â The problem with this is that itâs just not true, plain and simple lol. In Loomisâ own words, he spent eight of his fifteen years with him âtrying to reach him,â trying to get him help. He studied him for an incredibly long time and knows him better than any of us do. It was only after those eight years that he realized what Michael truly was, and t h e n he came to the conclusion that Michael is âpurely and simply evil,â and the only thing you can do is try to hide him away so he can never hurt anyone again.
And hereâs the kicker. From everything the movie tells us, and all subsequent sequels, Dr. Loomis was absolutely right in his conclusion. The movie makes it very clear that Michael Myers is no ordinary patient. There was no helping him from the very second he decided to murder his sister. The fact that Dr. Loomis spent nearly a decade of his life just trying to do so should be a testament toward his sympathy and good heart, rather than some superstitious, sinister old man. Itâs also important to remember that the Halloween franchise takes place in a universe where the supernatural do exist. We donât know quite what, but the original movie proved to us with Michaelâs near-invulnerability that there is more to the world than meets the eye. Taking this and carrying it forward, itâs much easier to swallow that Loomis was totally correct in that Michael really is âpure evil,â and it was clearly John Carpenterâs intention. And for a bonus, if youâre a fan of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (and you should be you filthy animal), that movie strings together Halloween, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Childâs Play into the same universe, making the paranormal very real in this universe lol (and Victor Crowley would eventually connect himself with Hatchet 2) Basically I feel like these people are just trying to find justifications for our beloved son, and while he deserves our lov and memes, we canât let that blind what is reality, and thatâs that there is no excuse for Michaelâs actions. In short, Dr. Loomis did everything he could to help Michael and never assumed him to be evil in itâs purest form until after 8 years of hard studying and treatment. The original movie (and all itâs sequels) then make it very clear that Loomisâ conclusion was 100% correct in that there was no helping Michael, and he is no ordinary duder. Edit: if you wanna shid on remake Loomis thatâs fine I guess cuz he was kind of a dick-o in those movies and they are (somewhat) more set in reality, but in this house we Love and Respect Pleasence Loomis. Even still, tho, that movie goes in depth to how much he tried to help Michael and I think RZ still had the intention that he couldnât help Michael no matter what.Â

Loomis Hate is Pretty Unepic and here is why 2: Evidence Boogaloo
I just thought Iâd share a couple of quotes from the Good Doctor himself to further back up my claim, as I think it provides some good evidence and context on where Iâm coming from for anyone still unconvinced âI met him, 15 years ago; I was told there was nothing left; no reason, no conscience, no understanding in even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, of good or evil, right or wrong. I met this... six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and... the blackest eyes - the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then [boldened to emphasize that Loomis did not realize Michael needed to be hidden from the world until after those eight years of treatment; he did not just lock a 6 year old child away with no second thought] another seven trying to keep him locked up, because I realized that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... evil.â âI watched him for fifteen years, sitting in a room, staring at a wall; not seeing the wall, looking past the wall; looking at this night, inhumanly patient, waiting for some secret, silent alarm to trigger him off. Death has come to your little town, Sheriff. Now, you can either ignore it, or you can help me to stop it.â I just thought these two quotes really compose the foundation of my defense on Loomis. They showcase how he did try to help Michael and the various inhumane qualities he exhibited which lead Loomis to his conclusion, and again, the movie tells us that he was absolutely right. And since these were all provided in the original, itâs safe to say they apply to all continuities, whichever you prefer.

There are a couple of comics where Loomis jumps to the "Michael is evil" platform a bit sooner. But that's after he kills 4 fellow kids and a nurse and then Loomis' love interest.
